Email tones on E72 - anyway to have individual ale...

Hi,
Newbie here, just received my E72 as a company phone and am setting everything up.
I have fiddled around and pretty much got everything working (push email etc), but I am really missing the option to have different tones for my personal and work emails. Is this possible?
Cheers

E72 has its new updated version of Nokia Messaging. In fact the site says so. It may be updated, but it doesn't work as well at all.
Firstly this problem with all non-hotmail/gmail accounts not working, then it used to give you the number of emails unread from the Email screen, it doesn't do that anymore.
And also, whereas on the home screen before, you could have 1 primary address, and all others were under "other email accounts" so you could see if you had any unread mail. Now you have one primary and one secondary emails on the home screen, so any other emails that come in apart from that you won't see, not on the home screen and not on the main email screen either as you can't find unread mail on that screen! Sometimes you feel: if it ain't broke , please don't fix it!
Is there someone that can please help me with all this??

how to activate 20 ipads for a corporate account but have individual itunes for their purchases?

    Hi karaspalace,
Yes. If you use a tool like Apple Configurator you will be authorizing/activating the iPad using a corporate/enterprise account. Following Apples "Layed Ownership" model, individuals can use their own Apple ID to purchase and download apps on the iPad. You can also use VPP for business to purchase apps and distribute them to your fleet of iPads. See http://help.apple.com/configurator/mac/1.0/ for details.
    Hope this answers your question!

  • Email question for E72 owners

Before buying I'd really appreciate knowing if there is a way to access your email on the E72 without using the Nokia Messaging service. Using the Nokia Messaging program is fine, but can you just define a direct link to your IMAP, POP and MfE accounts, with no restriction on number of messages or days stored, and save the messages to your memory card? Thanks.

Great, thanks for the info. I have an E71 and a N97, and I've tried Nokia Messaging; html is great and all, but I need to keep several hundred messages on my phone going back for a few months, and I also can't take the chance that the Nokia servers are down or there is a delay at all in receiving something, so I always wind up back with the standard text client. I only need push email on my MfE account, which is pushed anyway, so if the E72 can act like a standard client I can forgo getting a Blackberry. I heard mixed accounts of how this works on the E75, so I was worried the E72 might adopt some problems. Thanks again.

"One of the benefits of Match, right?  Saving hard drive space."
I would not use iTunes Match as a backup. There are too many bugs and I don't think that's what they intended it to be anyway. The main advantage of using it is to make your music available on OTHER devices, not to replace the music on your original computer.

  • Cannot get 'sent' email off my E72

I have a UK E72, with two POP3 email accounts set up.  If I send an email from the E72, it's placed in the 'sent items' folder on the phone, which is OK.  What I'd like to do is have a copy of the sent email on my laptop, but there's no way of doing this.  I can't move the messages to the inbox (or anywhere else), and sync doesn't copy them to the server.
I've tried including myself as a BCC in the message, but it never arrived!
Is there a good alternative to the built-in email software?

isn't a smart solution to put cc . Try to configure your email using IMAP instead of pop3 . Let me know if helped

  • POP3 email on Nokia E72

Just got a Nokia E72 and have setup my POP3 email.
Email is received only if Outlook 2007 is not open.  If Outlook collects the emails before the E72 then the E72 does not receive it at all.  Is this right?
Also, and more frustrating, an email received on the E72 is deleted on the next sync.  Not a lot of use really.
Can anyone give me some guidance on what is happening and what the solution is.
I also have a windows live account which works on IMAP.  That seems to work just fine!
    thanks
    Tony

Don't know why it works but we did the following: (and may work for other Virgin Media email addresses)
    1. Set up a googlemail account (user/details don't matter)
    2. Go online on your PC and set your NTL webmail to forward to it.
    3. Delete your NTL email account on the E72 and then re-create it using "new mailbox" (you should only need to enter your NTL email address and NTL password)
    4. Then on the E72 go in to settings of the new NTL mailbox. In account settings or mailbox settings there is box which only shows the user (or username) as the first part of your NTL email address (the bit before the @, without the @ and the bit after).  Just add     "   recent:   "  with no gap before the 'name' and press OK and then exit. Do not do this where your complete email address is shown.
    5. If in addition to your main PC you also use another secondary device e.g. a laptop to retrieve emails just add    "   recent:   "  before your user name in the email settings.

I have E72 setup to send and receive and it all works fine. Only if I delete email from my E72 (before opening in OE) it never downloads to my Outlook Express! The other way round works fine, I have 'leave a copy of mail on server' checked in OE and can read and delete mails from my OE inbox no probs and it still appears on my E72. But the other way round...nightmare! Have picked up mail on phone and deleted by accident and mails lost forever...please help.

No, you need to change the settings on your MacBook so that your MacBook synchronizes with the mail server. If your MacBook is using POP to access your mail account, it doesn't care what your phone does with the messages.

  • Iphone 4 plays email tone in ear speaker while on phone.  How do I turn off alert sounds when on phone?

When I am on a phone call and I receive a new email it plays the email alert through the ear piece and it is very loud and I am unable to hear the person I am speaking with.  I NEED to be able to turn off this notification when I am on a call only.
    How is this done?
    thanks

I could, but that would defeat the purpose of what I am trying to accomplish.  The point is to set it one time and forget it.  Also, with my email tone going off I have turned the phone to silent and the email tone blares out until it is done.  ***, shouldn't turning it to silent turn it to silent?
What I want to accomplish is when I am on my phone the only noise out of my phone I want to hear is the other caller!

  • Native protocol email on E75, E72?

Can someone confirm that it is indeed possible to access email servers directly using the default email client installed on the E75 and E72? I have a E51 right now and installed the nokia messaging client on it a few weeks ago and it was impossible to contact the email server without using Nokia's proxy web-service to fetch email. if it is possible how would you set it up native protocol access?

Your device such as the E75 which is a Multiprotocol email client device, comes bundled with a lifetime subscription to Nokia Messaging service; hence, during the configuration for email service, if you don't want to use Nokia Messaging to get push delivery of your email, then do not accept the service terms - this will allow you to set up direct-access email.
Please be advised that if you have an existing Nokia Messaging account, the service terms will not be displayed during the email set up process.  In order to get the service terms to display on your Nokia device, you will need to delete your Nokia Messaging account by performing the following steps:
Log into your Nokia Messaging account on http://email.nokia.com.
Click on the Cancel link underneath the My subscription portion of your account.

  • Printing emails on the E72

Is it possible to print an email on the E72? When I open an email I don't have a print option. I'm using the default email client on the E72.

If new emails aren't automatically being fetched then go into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data - does that have Push set 'on', and Fetch is not set to 'Manually' ?
If it's not automatically checking for new emails then you won't get notifications on the lock screen, but also check that Mail has the correct setting for notifications : go into Settings > Notification Centre > Mail (Mail should show somewhere in the list of apps), tap on it to select it, then tap on an email account - does the account have 'alerts' selected at the top of that screen ?

i cant use mail to send an email. it goes to my out box and then eventually comes up with this dialogue :
"An error occurred while sending this message using the SMTP server “(null)”
Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent."
I have to click Try Later and then quit mail , then restart Mail and then if I am lucky the email will be sent. the next time I have to send an email the same thing happens . I have to click Try Later and then quit mail , then restart Mail and then if I am lucky the email will be sent. I have to go through this everytime i want to send an email. its a really time consuming vicious circle which is extremely annoying,
    can someone help please ???????

From the Mail menu bar, select
    Window ▹ Connection Doctor
Click the Show Detail button. A drawer opens. Try to send a message and post the text that appears. Anonymize any personal information before posting.

My wife and I have one Apple ID through which we have individually purchased apps for her iPad and my iPad 2. We both now have individual iCloud accounts, and she now has an iPhone. For business reasons we now have to separate the apps under our individual iCloud accounts, but will maintain a single Apple ID for purchases. How can we separate the apps?

    Hi Shadow,
The apps are forever tied to the Apple ID that they were purchased under. Your iCloud accounts are also Apple IDs, so although you can sync the apps to your individual device via iTunes, you will be syncing them to the devices, not to iCloud.
Since you are still purchasing everything under one Apple ID, then I'm presuming that they live in a single iTunes library on your computer or Mac? If that is the case, then you would just want to:
Hook up a device to the Mac or computer
Select the device when it shows up under devices
Once selected, the Device Profile screens display to the right - click on the Apps tab, and select which ones you want on that device.
Also check all the other profile pages to make sure they are set up to sync the things you want to sync to that device.
On the info page, you will see that you can sync Contacts & Calendars via iCloud or via iTunes. If you want a single source for contacts & calendars for both of your devices, sync them via iTunes. If you want your own sets of contacts & calendars, sync them via iCloud.
Do you have iCloud set up on the computer or Mac? If so, which iCloud account are you planning on using?
Some of the decisions you will want to make will depend on how you have your computer or Mac configured in conjunction with iTunes. One Apple ID, but one or two User Accounts for the computer or Mac? iCloud on the computer or Mac? What do you want to share and to not share?
    Post back with any questions.
    Cheers,

  • How do you reset a password for an email account that I don't have anymore?

My email address for my original i-pod is not in use anymore and I can't get it back. I can't remember the secret question and having them send a temporary password to the old email address is useless. I have the music from my i-pod in my i-tunes library, but can't play any of it becuase it keeps asking me to authorize it.

Welcome to the Apple community hbefland.
If you are unable to remember your password, security questions, don’t have access to your rescue address or are unable to reset your password for whatever reason, your only option is to contact AppleCare(or Apple ID Support), upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.
The operator will take you through some steps you may have already tried, however they need to be sure they have exhausted all usual approaches before trying to reset your account, so you should try to be helpful and show patience with the procedure.
The operator will need to verify they are speaking to the account holder and may ask you some questions that only the account holder could know, and you will need to answer them if the process is to proceed.
Once the operator has verified your identity they will send a message through to your device which contains an alpha numeric code, which you will need to read back to them.
Once this has been completed they will send an email to your iCloud email address after a period of 24 hours, so you should check that mail is enabled in your devices iCloud settings.
Upon receipt of the email, use the reset link provided to reset your password, after which you should be able to make the adjustments to iCloud that you wish to do.
