Email unread counter error

My unread mail counter stays on 14, even when I have now. I have loged out and tried restart, etc. My concern is whether there are unread mails or not.

Remove your email and re-add it, see if that solves the issue

  • Email - unread messages counter wrong -

The email icon on my homepage shows I have 1 email unread even when all visible emails are read. For instance, if I get 2 new emails the email counter shows 3 unread and when I read the 2 new emails and delete them, the counter still shows 1 unread?
Any ideas as to how I cure that?

  • Apple Mail Not Showing Inbox Unread Count on Dock after installing Mavericks

After installing Mavericks, my Apple Mail (connected to my work's Gmail account) stopped showing the Inbox's unread count on the dock. I switched it to "all mailboxes" to see if that would make a difference, and the dock shows 7 unread emails when there are actually none. When I switch it back to "Inbox" unread counts, it shows nothing. I've waited 15 minutes after receiving an email to see if it will show an unread message in the dock, but it does not. Does anyone have a fix for this?
    Thank you!

Quit your mail entirely, then in terminal do:
    mv ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope* ~/Desktop
This moves all your "Envelope Index*" files to your desktop.  An alternative is deleting the files, but this allows you to keep them as a temporary back-up (you can delete them at-will later).  Also, you can move the files from Finder instead of Terminal, if you prefer.
After the files have been moved, re-open Mail
This should re-load all your email messages, updating/restoring the count
While this works, it does not explain the reason the count goes missing, nor does it ensure that the count won't go missing again in the future, but at least it's a temporary workaround.

  • Any way to get rid of the unread count in the lock screen?

    Hi,
I am new to the Z10 and i was wondering if i could remove the unread count or even the new mail icon from the lock screen.
On the old 9780, i was able to change the notification in a manner that only signaled a new email arrive but without the number.
This is my work email and when i am out of the office i don't want to be greeted with the number of emails that accumulated in my inbox while i dared to stop working..
I wouldn't mind removing the new mail icon completly if that the only valid option..
    Thanks!

I would also like to know how to get rid of ugly *** white background. It ****** me off every time I have to look at it. There is nothing that I see here as being an improvement over the last itunes.

  • Safari 4 tabs do not display unread counts for GMail and Google Reader

To reproduce this, do the following:
    1. Create a bookmark for either GMail or Google Reader
    2. Click on the bookmark under Safari to load either site (make sure it has at least on unread item)
The text in the tab title will not display the unread count. Instead, it displays either "GMail" or "Google Reader". Firefox displays the unread counts for both sites in the tab's title text as follows: "Gmail - Inbox(2) - <email addr>", "Google Reader (2)".
This is the one of the main reasons why I will continue to use Firefox over Safari 4. Displaying the unread counts in the tab titles allows me quickly glance at the browser's window with both sites loaded in separate tabs to see if there are any unread items.

I was able to fix the problem by disabling Gmail Labs (you can always reenable them again).
    http://mail.google.com/mail/?labs=0.
Or go to Settings-Labs and you'll notice a link at the very top asking you if you want to kill all the labs if it breaks something on gmail...there's an escape hatch.

  • Feature request: Select emails by count-from-sender

Please allow me to select emails by count? e.g. indexing all the senders and counting the emails received from each.
    Here's how that would help:
When it comes to free up a few Gigs of space in disk and improve Mail's performance, selecting thousands of emails from a few big senders is more effective than attempting the crazy task of bothering ourselves with finding just undreds of emails from hundreds of small senders!
Most of the emails we'd like to be able to handle without deleting them nor letting them to fall into the spam filter's claws, are the ones we ACTUALLY suscribed to, but never had the time to recover the password, login to them, update the email preferences (most times tricky or falsely advertised as "editable", or just impossible)… a total mission certainly harder than just leting them come, and some day delete them all. After all, It's easy: selecting ALL the emails from facebook, hit delete. Done.
Now multiply that for tens of big senders, and it's a pain.
I want to select the emails by COUNT BY SENDER, and be able to slide up or down the threshold to select them.
Slide to the left, and all emails from senders with at least 2 emails sent will be selected.
Slide to the right and only emails from senders with e.g. 10 emails sent would be selected.
( Read or unread would be a good extra criteria )
That way, I don't need to go through the hundreds of small senders and wear out my brain thinking one by one whether to delete it or not, for what? to delete just a few hundred emails an hour!.
This way I can go through a few giants, and delete thousands at once.
Or is ther a way to do it (script? add-on? rule?) and I didn't find it?

I had the same problem and was able to find a workaround. The key insight actually came from another one of your (jkwuc89) posts where you mentioned:
Loading GMail or Google Reader from a Safari bookmark appears to behave differently when compared to loading either site from a link on another page.
The solution is to change the address of your bookmark so that it is similar to loading the site from a link on another page. When you bookmark Gmail, it's address will read:
    https://mail.google.com/mail/#inbox
However, edit the address of this bookmark to:
    javascript:window.location='https://mail.google.com/mail/#inbox'
This Javascript snippet will trick Safari to open Gmail as if you had clicked a link on another page and the tab will display the correct page title including unread count. You can follow a similar pattern with Google Reader or other sites that exhibit a similar problem.

  • Unread counts on "rules" destination folders not updating

Since I installed Leopard a few days ago I have a minor mail (3.1) issue. I use "rules" to distribute the mail to specified folders as it comes into the in box. The minor problem is that the unread counts on the destination folders is not always updating until they are clicked on. Anyone else see this? Normal? Fixable?

I've been having the same problem ever since I upgraded from Tiger to Leopard -- new mail messages that are directed to IMAP mailboxes via rules don't always change the unread mail count of the mailbox until I switch to that mailbox.
These are some of the steps I've taken to try and narrow the problem:
+ Disabled the use of the IDLE command (I'm not sure if my dovecot version 0.99.11 IMAP server supports it or not). Didn't seem to affect the problem.
+ Added a new rule (seemed to work okay -- unread count increased when mail was delivered to the mailbox). Since the problem seems more or less intermittent I'm not sure if this proves anything.
+ Removed old rules and replaced them with new rules that do the same thing. Still intermittent.
+ Tried clicking the "Get new mail in all accounts button", and it didn't update the unread count.
    A theory:
+ Some of these mailboxes are rather large. I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it. I've noticed that the "waiting" icon is displayed for about 5 seconds on one of the mailboxes.
    An oddity:
+ When I'm sitting here and an email message arrives and is moved to a mailbox via a rule, I hear the new mail sound, so I know the Mail application at some level is aware of this new message, but the mailbox unread count doesn't change until I switch to the mailbox.
    Some configuration information:
+ IMAP server (dovecot 0.99.11). Remained constant when I switched from Tiger to Leopard.
+ I leave all of my mail in mailboxes on the server.
+ I did have one interesting thing happen during the Tiger to Leopard upgrade that might be relevant -- after the upgrade, I had two "IMAP Account"s each with a copy of all of the mailboxes that are on the server. I'm guessing this somehow happened because I use either direct LAN access or ssh-tunnel access (when I'm on the road) and switch the name (and IP address) of the server as appropriate. Somehow this gave me two identically named accounts during the upgrade (one of the incoming mail servers was "ssh-tunnel" which is the host name I use for the ssh tunnel). I managed to remove one of them, but all of the mailbox settings in my rules disappeared and needed to be re-added.
Any suggestions are welcome -- it's not fun "polling" mailboxes to see if someone has sent you mail and is awaiting a response!

  • How do yo clear the email inbox counter?

My email inbox counter shows one unread message even though there are no messages in the inbox. Everything has been deleted from the server(Yahoo) but iPhone 3G ver 3.0 still indicates one unread message. Anyone else having this problem? Any idea on how to clear it?

I have tried both shutting down and a hard reset. I have also tried deleting the email account followed by a hard reset and adding the account again. Anyone have any other thoughts?

  • GMail, Google Groups & Unread Count System

Hi folks. I have some things about the mail.app that are not working as I expect them to.
I have a gmail account that's read using the mail.app, as it's an IMAP account. I have some Google Groups that post to this account several times a day.
I have a smart list in mail.app that notifies me of any unread items in my gmail account. I read them as they come in, but the unread count stays in my GMail IMAP account down below. Also, since it's in my "Important" smart mailbox on GMail, it's in there as well. So any incoming emails from that group shows up three times. I want to read it once and have it be shown as read in my account and smart mailbox on GMail.
How can I set this up?
    Cheers

  • Lion Mail Unread Count

In OSX Lion, Mail never shows an unread count in the dock.  The current setting is to display unread from the Inbox.  Any suggestions?  Thanks!

I'm experiencing something similar since I updated to Lion.
I have the preference set to Inbox only. However, the dock icon shows a figure only for unread messages in one of my accounts, not any others. The one account which does produce a count in the dock icon is my mac.com email account, which is the first account in my account list - if either of those things should happen to matter.
When I set the preference to all, the unread count displays correctly but includes such locations as my Spam folder - which obviously I don't care about since I only check it once a month or so to be sure something important wasn't indavertently marked as spam.

Hi, I had the same problem. I finally figured it out. Plug in the USB cord to your ipad, but beofre plugging it into your computer make sure your ipad is not in the locked or sleep mode. Once I did this, my photos showed up and started downloading. Hope that helps you!

  • Is there any way to hide unread count on Mail for junk or trash folders?

I have a ton of junk messages and messages in my trash folder, and I really don't care to see the unread count (I know, I'm being picky.) I can't find a way to hide the unread count for these folders and it's annoying to right click and select "mark all as read". Is there any way to hide the count automatically, or a filter I can set up? I know that you can adjust what unread count shows up on the dock, but I'm talking about the Mail program itself. Ideas? Thanks in advance, y'all!

This is the action that I'm talking about. I set certain Gmail folders to be used for these 4 options. I would like to release those folders from their respective duties.

  • Safari 5.1.5 (Windows) RSS unread count no longer working

With the previous version of Safari under Windows 7(SP1) the 'unread count' for the RSS feed bookmarks were only updated when Safari was restarted. This was bad enough, but now with Safari 5.1.5 they don't appear at all.
I've even gone so far as removing every bit of Apple software (Safari, iTunes, iCloud, Mobile Me, Bonjour etc), removed all data in the user profile, rebooted a couple of times and completely reinstalled Safari iCloud and iTunes but still not working.
I've been Googling about it but I couldn't find much about it, only confirmation of my previous problem (the need to restart Safari to update the counts)
Am I the only one with this problem? Any suggestions?
    Thx, Tim

@sean0826 -- this is why you don't use Java menus. Even javascript menus are a bad idea; you need to have a secondary menu system ANYTIME you have a menu system that requires a plugin or scripting to be active. NOT EVERYONE browses with that stuff on.
The only thing you can do for now is FTP to your site and add in static menus (like we did in the "old days" at the bottom of the page; or rip out the Java Menus and install static or CSS versions.
BTW where are you rmenus supposed to be. I have opera, safari, ff, and a few others. they all look the same. So if that's true, it's the plugin that's the problem, not safari.
In Opera Pogo.com works. java loads, the game is there. It does have some drawing issues but not surprised.
In Safair Pogo works fine. Just played a game of chess.
