Email video clip to PC w/o Quicktime

I have to email a 2 minute video clip to a PC that does not have Quicktime installed. Is there a fast, easy way to do this.
Thank you,
Steven

Fast and easy? Simple: Attach the clip and email it. Let them sort the problem out.
Slower and not so easy: convert the clip to a format they can use and send it
Permanent solution: get them to install quicktime.

  • How to email video clips?

I have made a short video on iMovie. Right now the video is ready in the upper left section of iMovie. If I were to make a dvd, I would click SHARE to iDVD, but I would like to email the video to a client, rather than make a dvd. What is the best way to email video clips to a client?
    Thanks

    *best practice* :
    • 'share' your Project to YouTube
    • mail the URL to that YT-video to client
=> you avoid problems with size (=video is huge)/Bandwidth probs, and 'formats' (=YT is by sheer popularity 'standard'). You can set your Video at YT to 'Private', so only your client is able to watch it. meanwhile, YT allows superb quality ..-
    not-so-good practice:
under Share, Export using Quicktime and the following Option-dialogs allow tons of options to convert and 'shrunk' the video. depending on, what your IP allows about mail-attachement's sizes, you can play with the 'knobs' format/codec, frame-rate, size, to make the video small enough - for the price of quality and compatibility. ex, Windows users often have problems with h264.mov ...

  • Email video clip

How can I email my video clips from my digital camera that has already been downloaded into iphotos? as of now, when I highlight and send it goes out as a jpeg. I want people to receive it as a video.

Your question would be best answered by posting it in the iPhoto forum:

  • No video when emailing video clip?

I took a video on my iPhone and want to email it to a friend. I did download it to my desktop iMac. Here are the things I've already tried.
    1.  I edited the clip in iPhoto and tried to email it from there, but that is not supported.
    2.  I then exported the clip to the desktop, drug the file to my email and it was completely blank (no video or sound).
    3.  I imported it into iMovie, trimmed the clip, finished the project & then shared it to the media browser. I opened a new email, added the file from the media browser, and I have sound and a still picture.
    4.  I've exported as a quicktime project and the clip plays in quicktime fine, but when I go to email it I have a still photo with sound.
Please, what am I doing wrong?
    Kristy
    I have iPhoto '11 & iMovie '11

Still thinking about it Kristy - not sure of the solution yet.
As a test, I just dragged a movie clip from iTunes onto the Desktop. The clip was sent to me by my daughter and was taken on her iPhone 4. I dragged the clip into a new message in Mail and it plays perfectly.
So, I'm not sure what's happening with your system. What email program are you using (I'm on Apple Mail)? As the movie clip plays fine in QuickTime, possibly it's the email app that's causing the problem. Can you try using a different program?

  • Can't email video clip

I recently purchased Quicktime in order to send video/audio clips recorded on my Sony Cybershot digital camera. Trouble is, nobody can open the files I email except for me. Do my recipients have to purchase Quicktime as well? Also, is Quicktime the best option for me to use to send video + audio? imovie doesn't seem to recognize my camera. Thanks for any advice.

If you make Quicktime files they will need a Quicktime player to play them. iMovie recognizes DV tape video cameras and not digital cameras.

  • Rotating video clip but losing audio?

    this is my situation:
i took a video clip with my digital camera vertically instead of horizontally. so when everything on my camera was imported to iphoto that video clip was imported as a quicktime video. now im trying to figure out a way to rotate the vertical clip so that i dont have to turn my head 90 degrees everytime i watch it. in trying to figure out how to do that, i found an apple download called MPEG Streamclip. That allows me to rotate the clip however two things happens:
    1) the audio is no longer there (the output volume is turned all the way up on the macbook... i promise. i checked at least a dozen times)
    2) the video is now cropped weirdly so that the height is equal to the original width of the vertical video.
help? ive never used imovie before or any of these programs... i just want to enjoy my video...

Here are the instructions for using Streamclip.
You need to be sure to Export to DV--that should prreserve your audio. Before you Export to DV from Streamclip, Set the Zoom to 75% to preserve your dimensions.
Here's how to do it. Put the video clip into iMovie. Export the unrotated clip from iMovie to your desktop as a Full Quality Quicktime movie. Open the Quicktime Movie with Streamclip. From the Streamclip file menu, select Export to DV. When you do that, a panel will open up giving you choices to rotate (i.e., 90%CW (clockwise), etc.) Select the rotation you want. Set the zoom to 75%. Then export the .dv to your desktop and drag the rotated clip into your iMovie project. I have rotated several video clips in this fashion. I understand that you can rotate clips with Quicktime Pro, too, but I have never done it that way (because I don't have Quicktime Pro).

  • How do I get Quicktime to play a short video clip emailed to me?

My daughter emailed me a video clip of our grandson and told me to use Quicktime to view it. I went to Apple Downloads and got the older version of Quicktime required by my Tiger OS. My daughter also has Mac OS 10.4.11. I downloaded the video clip from my daughter's email but it shows up in ITunes and will not play. I even tried opening my Quicktime version before opening the video file, but no go.

It may be that the video is in Microsoft Media Player format:

Plays WMP files via QuickTime Player.

Have them install Quicktime on their PC's from Apple's website, that's the easiest fix.

  • I have Aperture3 and iPhoto.  When I try send video clips as attachments, I get a message saying Quicktime can't open the .avi - why?

I have Aperture3 and iPhoto.  When I try send video clips as attachments, I get a message saying Quicktime can't open the .avi - why?  Others couldn't open them so I sent them to myself and get the same message.  Doesn't seem to be a size issue as I've tried with really short clips (4 seconds).  As I recall, I didn't have this problem before buying Aperture last fall, when I only had iPhoto.  It appears that by default, an attachment to an email automatically comes from my iPhoto files and not Aperture - assume that is supposed to happen but not sure.  Thanks for any and all help!

When I try send video clips as attachments, I get a message saying Quicktime can't open the .avi - why?
How are you tryin to send the .AVI file? Are you sending the attachment directly from Mail or from Aperture or iPhoto?

  • Sending a huge video clip via email?

    hey,
what is the easiest way for me to send a video clip to someone via email. In quicktime & FCut the file is HUGE around 1000 mb, I have compressed it using compressor to H.264 but it is still 22 mb and on the email the video viewer is sooo small like a thumbnail.
So what is the best format to use so I can send it but it is an ok size for the recipient?
    cheers.
    joe.

I have uploaded video's to 'YouTube' .. where they are converted to 'Flash' so clients could see them while in Europe etc. The file limits are 100 meg. and under 10min. really need to be under 9min. And my HD. stuff came out really good .. The other option is to have your own website they can download large files' ...

  • Procedure and Format for emailing a short video clip from iMovie 08

I use one of the new Panasonic HiDef AVCHD digital video cameras. iMovie 08 works great, no complaints there. From time to time I would like to email very short (5-20 second) video clips, rather than putting them up on iWeb, YouTube, etc.
There are so many "sharing" options, and I haven't had much luck with emailing these short clips. Many of the recipients are Windows users, so I'm not sure QuickTime is the answer. What is the best way to email short video clips from iMovie 08?

What is the best way to email short video clips from iMovie 08?
Assuming you and your recipients' mail clients all allow attachments up to 10 MBs, then a 20-second clip can have a combined data rate of up to 500 KB/s (4.0Mbit/s). This means you can use any share/export compressions format option available to you from within iMovie '08. Therefore, the real question becomes, what compression formats can your recipients play. Have you tried asking them to see if there is a single compression format that everyone can play? If no QT compression format is compatible everyone, then you will likely have to perform a secondary conversion to one that will be compatible. H.264/AAC would provide the smallest files for a given level of quality but require QT 7 (or similar multi-media player). MPEG4/AAC would probably be the most compatible format you can export directly from within iMovie '08. (Would have recommended Sorenson 3/IMA but data rate limitation appears to be ignored.) MPEG-1 files can probably be played by everyone but have higher data rate requirements which may restrict files to SD dimensions and require additional software to create external to iMovie '08. DivX or WMV would probably make your Windows users happy but requires Mac users to have a compatible component for viewing in the QT Player.
Try the "Export using QuickTime" Share menu option ("Movie to MPEG-4") settings:
    Video
    MP4 File Type
    MPEG-4 Improved Compressor
Data rate in the range from 1,000 (640x480) to 3800 (near HD dimensions)
    Current (or user specified) dimensions
    Current Frame Rate
    Key Frame every 24 frames
    Audio:
    AAC-LC Music
    Mono
    64 Kbps Data Rate
    44.1 KHz Sampling Rate
    Better Quality

How do i email a 6 minute video clip from my iphone

Open Photos > select video > tap forward icon (rectangle with arrow) > Email Video.  If the video file is too large for your, or the recipient's email server, it may not get delivered.
You need this - it's all in there:
