Email won't login suddenly-again

I'm sure this has been posted on, but the search function isn't giving me what I need. Apologies, but it is an emergency-my airline ticket home is in this account and I at least need to forward it to one I can check somewhere else, as well as other travel confirmations.
After swapping out a modem, I can do every thing online except check my mail. I don't know if this is a mobileme issue or not.
I'm in South Korea atm and cannot understand the cx svc. My computer keeps asking me for my [email protected] password. This used to happen in the US a bit, but would stop after a few tries, and work. Not now. I have confirmed my password in the keychain thingy and I know I am using the same one I've used for over 2 years.
I got something like "connection has timed out on port 0" and I'm thinking it has something to do with this. At the same time it tells me that it cannot connect to mac smtp server (something like this, I cannot replicate it).
I thought I could check it on the web, but I cannot pull up even the basic mail I used to be able to pull up on a pc at work. It goes to the new mobile me page, will do other things, but hangs on a white page if I try the mail option. Mac support says to go to the preferences/.mac, but it seems to think I am new?? My ID is there, but it is too many dots to be my password, and it said it created an account that will expire in 60 days. Huh?
Please help. Ask me what info you need, or steps to go thru to get information you need. Much appreciated.
Sorry to ramble. Trying to provide as much info as possible and really need access!

Can't figure out how to edit my previous message. Have accessed mobileme mail, but it is very limited (10 messages and no contacts).
I get two messages:
this one when I reopen mail.
Enter Password for account
"smtp.mac.com:myidishere"
Re-enter your password or cancel
password space here
I told it to remember my password and not to, no luck. I am fairly certain that it is acknowledging my password because it I deliberately put in an alternate/wrong one I get (cause I tried it once just in case):
The .Mac server "mail.mac.com" rejected the password for user "americannomad" Good indicator that the first one is right?
So, what's the smtp thing mean? Can I fix it myself?

    I have the same problem. I bought it 5 months ago, and just used it when I was at home. I take very good care of it. No accidental damage or misuse. But it suddenly can not start up. So I sent my ipod touch to Apple store. To my disappointed, they can not do anything.They do not want to take their responsibility.

    Have you tried clicking on the lock to see it it will then ask for a passwored.  Otherwise, try reblooting.

    My current Apple ID, for which all of my content has been downoaded (e.g., music, apps) is associated with a work email address that I will no longer have access to in the near future.  In my Apple ID account, I noticed I had two alternate emails listed, one is my .me account and the other is my .gmail account.  I use my .gmail account, and it is the primary email I use with friends and family.  I noticed both were not verified, and when I tried to, it said they were both associated with other accounts.  I was able to log into a separate Apple ID account I must have set up at tone point with my .gmail, and I changed the email address to a new one I created.  I also deleted the gmail account from any other Apple-relted account I could think of.  I am still gettgin the same error message when I try to add it to my current Apple ID: "This email address is already in use or you may already have an Apple ID associated with this email address. Please try again or sign in using your existing Apple ID."
    My concern is this: with FaceTime and now iMessage, it seems more important than ever that I am able to use my correct email address.  With iOS5 beta, I cannot enter either my .gmail or.me accounts under "You can be reached for messages at:" as I get an error stating: Unable to verify email because it is already in use."
    How can I remedy this issue and assign my .gmail account to my Apple ID?

    I just spoke with a technician at Apple.  I hsven't been able to verify because the wife has the phone.  but he said all that you need to do is:
    1) Go to Settings --> iTunes Store and login with your Apple ID and pwd
    2) Go to Settings --> iCloud and login with your Apple ID and pwd
    seems that the phone requires you to login to the store first...

  • MAIL - certain emails won't open, 10.6.4

    Using Macbook, some emails won't open in mail (on 10.6.4). i can open several emails from the same person but particular ones won't open.
    it's happened several times in the last week. to clarify, it's not the PROGRAM mail that won't open...it's just certain messages. if i move it from the "inbox" to another mailbox (not named inbox) , i can open it in a different mailbox. then if i move it back to the "inbox," it will open. Advice? Would love a true fix.

    I'm having a somewhat similar problem, and it's the second or third time it's happened. All of a sudden, I can't open emails in the Inbox or Sent folders prior to today's date. If I click on one I get an empty viewing screen, even though the message appears in the list. The last couple of time this happened I just went into Time Machine, did a restore, and then moved the restored messages back into the Inbox. So I haven't lost the messages, it's just annoying to have to keep doing this.
    Any idea what is going on? I'm about ready to start looking at Eudora or Thunderbird.

  • Random emails won't open

    Hi There,
    Having a strange problem - I'm using a single IMAP account in Mac Mail, 10.9.5, and I'm getting a lot of bugs that seem connected.  Two worth noting are:
    - When opening Mail, a few of the newest emails won't open; the preview window stays grey, as does the popup if I double click.  If I forward or reply these messages, they display fine in a new popup window. A restart of mac mail will usually fix this, however, after a few minutes messages will become unaccessible again.
    - Sometimes selecting "Inbox(s)" will result in zero messages being displayed, yet the VIP folder will display all the VIP messages. Again, restart.
    In my attempts to solve this I have:
    - deleted my mail account and set it up fresh, including deleting preference files and old mailboxes.
    - fixed permissions, restarted, etc
    This all started when I did a fresh install on an SSD drive that's my new OS drive.  Can't figure out what's going wrong.  Any suggestions?

    Do a backup.
    Quit Mail.
    Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Go to Library/Containers/com.apple.mail.  Move the folder com.apple.mail to your desktop. You must move the entire folder, not just the contents.
    Restart, re-launch Mail and test. If the problem is solved, recreate any required Mail settings and import any emails you want to save from the folder on the desktop. You can then put the folder in the Trash. If the problem remains, return the folder to where you got it replacing the one that is there.

  • Certain emails won't open

    icloud email, certain emails won't open.  I get the error message "email has stopped responding."  when I clear this message, i cloud closes, and I need to open it up again.  I can read these messages in Mail2Web.  any help would be appreciated. 

    update:  all the emails that don't open seem to be coming from a listserv I belong to.

    A few months ago my email account was hacked, spewing spam all over the place.  So I contacted AT+T and a customer service person changed my security settings and reset my configurations.  This caused me to lose everything that had been on the face of my Inbox, which I use as a to-do list.  So I called AT+T again, and they said the first service person should not have changed the configurations.  Well, great.  After eight hours with India I was still left without the mail that had been on the face of my Inbox.  And ever since then:
    ---when I delete emails, they come back from the dead!  No kidding, they mysteriously reappear in my Inbox and I have to delete them again.
    ---my MacBook overheats off and on, fan comes on.  I have to shut the whole system down, it's broiling.
    Concerned about the overheating, I checked on my Activity Moniter but didn't see anything suspicious.  Nevertheless, a google search encouraged me to download Little Snitch, to keep an eye on activities.  But ever since then:
    ---most new emails won't open.  They sit totally blank and empty, with the little grey spinning wheel going round.  Eventually some open.  But I have to wait and wait and wait and wait. 
    So I got rid of Little Snitch.  But I still have the same problems as above.

    Change your password if you haven't already. Is is At&t email, At&t through yahoo?
    You keep saying inbox and email, but not indicating if it is through macs email application or through a webmail that you access via a browser.
    Have you scanned the computer yet using an antivirus? In some rare cases it may need a reformat, but you should start with the password change and the scanning.

    Quit the app completely. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the mail app icon. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Try mail again.
    If that doesn't work - Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Emails won't send from Hotmail account on iphone as message says password is incorrect

    I recently had a problem with my hotmail account which meant it was blocked and I had to go through a securitiy process to unblock my account and change my password. I can now use my hotmail account again and changed the password on my phone settings to be able to use this account on my phone again. However, when I try to send emails from my iphone from my hotmail account, it says my password is incorrect and the emails won't send. I am also not convinced that I am receiving all emails, although some came through when I initially re-added the account. I have tried to delete the account and add it again, as well as restart my iphone, but I am still having the same problem. The password I have for the account is correct! I would be so grateful if anyone could help.

    For anyone else having this problem I have found a solution! You need to change the outgoing server settings as well as the incoming server password which appears on the main settings page. Go into the account in settings and select the box under outgoing mail server. Click on the box under primary server. This will take you to the settings, including the password which you can change.
