Email works on iPod Touch but not on iPad

I have recently added an email account with Bell Canada. Previously had [email protected], then added [email protected] I set up my iPod and my iPad identically (both have the same iOS version and setup parameters). iPod email accounts work fine, iPad's  do not.
I have repeatedly checked the setup parameters, but on iPad I get the message that one or the other of the servers (POP or SMPT) is not responding when I use the 'Mail' icon on the iPad homepage. However, when I access the mail through Bell webmail or through MSN/Hotmail, I get the sympatico.ca email account and it works fine.
Can anyone help me with this?

Is the 3G network having DNS problems? It would seem like a likely culprit.
I am usually trying to maximize battery life so when I am in WiFi coverage I typically disable 3G and haven't seen this particular phenomenon. 3G signals do not penetrate structures as well as EDGE nor do they handle obstructive terrain as effectively so for me it's a last resort for data on the go when I have the need for that speed and no other convenient option.
It will get sorted eventually.

  • Quicktime Pro - export as mpeg-4 works in iPod Touch but not iPhone 3G

If I use Movie to iPhone / iPhone (cellular) the quality is pretty dismal considering I use the component cable to pipe it out to HDTV.
So, I tried using movie to mpeg-4 as that allows options. However, the resulting video can be transferred over to an iPod Touch (latest hw/fw) but iTunes (latest version) complains the mp4 cannot be played on the iPhone 3G and thus did not transfer the file over.
Any ideas what settings I can use under Movie to MPEG-4 that will work for both iPod Touch and iPhone? I would like resolutions up to 720, 25 fps and at around 768kbits/sec.
Right now I'm using ffmpeg.exe and I do get great quality, but would like to use QuickTime Pro if possible.

I've tried Movie to iPhone but like I said I do watch movies piped out from the iPhone to HDTV via the component cables. I don't recall the bitrate and resolution offhand, but I know it could be better. Also why iPod Touch can take the Movie to MPEG-4 but not iPhone 3G?

  • Oh look a 'search' function on the iPod Touch, but not on our iPhones

Oh look a 'search' function on the iPod Touch, but not on our iPhones. And we had a search all along on our iPhones, except only in the Google Maps prog.
    What the _?

the search in safari searches the net, not the 100's of addresses, calendar entries, emails and notes on the iPhone. Any smartphone or phone billed and priced as a smartphone should do this. There should be a sense of urgency to address this one would think. Josh, we have received maybe three software updates now.

  • Any way to keep apps on my ipod touch but not keep copies of them on my PC?

Is there any way to keep apps on my ipod touch but not keep copies of them on my PC? I have space issues on my PC, so I don't want to have to keep copies there. I deleted the apps from my PC, but when I synced my ipod to add some photos, all my apps were deleted from my ipod. Is there any way to be able to just sync photos and music, and not apps? Seems I am able to manually manage music, which allows me to not have to keep my music library stored on my PC, but can't get the photos to sync without the apps syncing too.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated. I'm new at this.
    Thanks.

though purchased apps can be re-downloaded for free, i strongly advise against such a practice !

you would be better off to move your iTunes library to an external drive, thus freeing up space on your startup disk. this read will tell you how http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1364.

Do y have XP? if so see that topic in the above link,
Can you go to My Computer>iPod>DCIM folder and copy it from there?
Windows XP can't import video files larger than 500 MB using Camera and Scanner Wizard. You can transfer these files from your device by selecting them in My Computer and dragging or copying the files to your computer's hard drive.

Why is my Apple id working on my MacBook but not my iPad? I can log in o.k. on my MacBook, but using the same user name and password on my iPad, I just get the Incorrect Apple ID or Password message.
on my iPad, I have used the Forgotten Apple ID or Password link and reset the password. Even after I get the successfully reset password message it still gives me the Incorrect Apple ID or Password message!
In desperation I have restored the iPad to Factory settings. It appears to be running OS 7. something.
    My Macbook is running 10.8.5.

  • Html link to pdf works ok on mac but not on ipad. adobe reader for ipad downloaded.

HTML link to pdf works ok on Mac but not on ipad. Adobe Reader for ipad downloaded. What's wrong?

    Hi pwillener,
Thank for reply. The pdf’s are in a subfolder “PDF” of the folder holding the web page. The web page itself uses
. This works in full size computer browsers but not in an iPad.
My excursion through the search engine has produced the idea of adding #page = requesting page to the URL but I have not had time to try it perhaps without the = sign.

  • Songs on ipod touch but not computer

I had a problem with my computer (it is fixed now) but some of the music on my ipod touch will not sync with the computer.  The songs are on the ipod but not on my computer.  How can I get these back on my computer??

Sync is only oneway, from PC to your device.  Unless you have the music on your PC, iTunes is going to wipe out what you have on your device if you are syncing to a new library.
You can only transfer Purchased music over to Itunes on your PC.

As for you own music, you may have to use a third party software.  A good Free one is called Sharepod which you can download from Download.com here:

  • Why is Circa 1948 app available on iPod touch but not my Mac?

Unfortunately my iPod Touch does not support the latest OS update, so I cannot download Circa 1948, although it is available via Search.  It is not available on my iMac OS X 10.9.2.  Am I doing something wrong?

No, you're not. The developer hasn't posted a Mac OS X version.

  • HT4859 Purchased more storage for ipod touch but not working

I have purchased a tv episode and my ipod touch is saying not enough storage.  So I purchased more storage for $20, but apparently this is for cloud storage and not for other purchases?  How can I get my $20 storage purchase over to my ipod touch so I can buy more videos, etc.
    Thank you!

You need to contact Apple within 15 days of the purchase to get a refund for iCloud. Plusco lays out the details on this other thread.

  • Itunes sees my ipod touch but not my ipod classic; windows 8 sees each of them

I had an ipod classic 80Gb (older device - 4th gen?) as my daily device, a 16gb touch (newer one - 4th I think) as a backup when my ancient PC crashed and died, had to get a new one.  This happened 1st of Sept.  New PC has windows 8, and I downloaded latest itunes onto it.  This latest itunes recognizes my ipod touch, even synced my new library with it (yes, I had to completely redo my playlists etc after the crash as itunes would not recognize the old library I had had on the ipod).  But plugging my (older ?) ipod classic into the same usb port, itunes does NOT even recognize that there is an ipod.  Here is what happens :
An olive green windowlet comes up (from itunes ?), beeps at me, tells me "there is a problem with this drive please scan the drive now and fix it".  I assume it means the drive with the ipod in it because the beep happens right after I plug in the usb cable.   I can see this usb port on windows file system, it says "ipod", and can, after some waiting, see the directories... iPod_Control > Music > Fxx  etc., under which there appear to be songs ... mp3 and m4a and wav files, but their names are abbreviated with 4 caps, eg. IXOK.mpe, IPDT.mp3 ... but the little earphone symbol shows beside so possibly I could even play one were I to double click it (default player might come up etc.)... have not tried this yet.  The default player mentioned would be itunes, but here is a problem :  the whole time that my unrecognized-by-itunes ipod is plugged into the usb, itunes is completely hung up... can't even move the window across the screen.  Once I pull the thing out of the usb, itunes is fine again.
This ipod that is not recognized has also been behaving as if it needs a new battery ... does not hold a charge more than a couple of hours... this has been the case since shortly before the new computer, however during the time that there is a charge it does play songs, ff, etc just like always.  So I am not sure if this has anything to do with somebody's (itunes' ?) perception that "there is a problem with this drive..."...

I ended up Erase and Syncing again just like I was moving to a new iTunes library. The relationship between my iPod Touch and iTunes got messed up. Everything else was fine. Once I did that everything backed up and re-synced fine.
So glad I didn't have to restore. The weird thing that happened was I canceled out from the Erase and Sync both times and iTunes still attempted to do it anyway. Once I let it, it worked fine.

  • Email call to iPod T but not to iPhone

I've bought an iPod Touch 4th Gen for my girlfriend so we can video chat since we live in different cities. I have the iPhone 4. We're both on iOS 4.1 so completely up-to-date.
My possible problem is that the iPod Touch can make a FaceTime connection to the iPhone 4 by calling the phone number. In turn, the iPhone 4 can make a connection to the iPod by using her MobileMe email address. But the iPod cannot make a connection to the iPhone by using my MobileMe email address. I get a message stating the contact is not available for a FaceTime connection; a subsequent request using the phone number again quickly goes across, no problem.
I'm not sure why that is. Is the email option strictly for the iPod Touch?

I agree, I would really like to be able to use email-based FaceTime on my iPhone4. facetime://[email protected] is much nicer than facetime://+1234567890.

  • Delete mail from iPod Touch but not from webmail

I like to access my webmail with my Touch but I don't like leaving mail on my Touch. How do I take it off without also deleting it from my webmail account?

Not possible, that would defeat the convenience of webmail/touch syncing. If your concern is security (ie, someone finds or steals your touch), set the touch to Autolock in Settings. With this feature enabled, someone would need to enter a password to see your email (or do anything else with your touch).

  • My ipod touch is not working, my ipod touch is not working

Hi, i am pallavi and i have a ipod touch 8GB i have bought this from Wal-Mart, from the last few days my ipod is not working i dont know why can u please help me in this

    - When you connect it to your computer or charger does it show that it is charging?
    - After connected to a charger for half an hour reset the iPod.
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, uontil the Apple logo appears.
    - If still not working connect the iPod to your computer. If it shows in iTunes, restore the iPod via iTunes on the computer.
    - If it did not show, place the iPod in recovery mode and then then try to restore the iPod via iTunes on the computer.  For recovery mode see:
