Email/yahoo -- connection to server fails?

I can't send or receive via mail. I have a yahoo account set up, but I keep getting "connection to server "imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com" failed.
Any ideas? Thanks

When I try to access my email, I get a message the connection to server failed. This has been going on for the last 24 hours. Worked just fine before that. I restarted my iphone, I reentered all of the server information, none of which work. The connection from my server to my computer is working fine

Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
You will have to re enter your Wi-Fi password.
If nothing above helped, restart your router.
No data is lost due to a reset.

Trying to access emails,message reads,connection to server failed.

trying to retrieve emails I get a message saying connection
to server failed,have tried resetting and deleting and reinstalling but still get same message.

Okay, I found the answer. I had hacked the domain.xml for this some time ago (this task has been off and on a lot) and forgotten.
I found the tsom_oes reference in there and removed it. Now it deploys.
Hopefully this helps someone else some day... probably not though, eh?

Try giving your iPad a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot and try again.
Are you trying to access your mail on your regular internet connection or on a new one? I know I have issues accessing my yahoo mail via the mail app if I'm on and AT&T hotspot. But if I use safari to go in via the mobile site (m.yahoo.com) I can access my mail. And yahoo also has their own mail app. So the 'how' may help find the issue.
If it's a new to you hotspot then the best way to fix it may just be to work around it (using safari)
Another thing to do could be to go into the settings, mail, contacts and calendars and delete your yahoo address then exit out, go back in and add the account back. Sometimes things get confuzzled and the best way to fix it is just to start over. Doing this should not effect your mail account, it just deletes it off your device and then adds the info back in.

They are two different things. Your mailer server coul be down. Try again later.

On both my iphone 5 and ipad 2 retina I'm having trouble accessing my mail. It says that connection to server failed. I've done research and I have deleted my yahoo account in my mail settings but unfortunately I can't even re-put my info in because there is still a "connection fail". I am so frustrated! I had my email a few days ago and all of a sudden I cannot access it. I have rebooted my devices several times and even closed all my apps including the mail app. Now since I can't even get my yahoo account verified in mail settings I am stuck at a dead end. My Yahoo mail connection to server failed. I deleted my Yahoo account in my iphone 5s and re-entered details, switch on/off to the phone /turn air plane mode on and off and all these doesn't work. However I found a solution when I googled "Fix problems with yahoo Mail in IOS Mail" and finally do the manual action to add Yahoo Mail to IOS Mail. Below is the instructions given as follows:
If you're unable to add your account to your device using the iOS Mail Wizard (steps above), you can manually enter the Yahoo Mail server info to add your account.
Remove your Yahoo Mail account.
Tap Settings | Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Tap Add Account | Other | Add Mail Account.
Enter your name, email address, email password, and a description, then tap Next.
Select IMAP, enter the Yahoo Mail IMAP settings, then tap Next.
Set "Mail" to On, then tap Save.
Note: To fulfill the 5th step, click on Apple support page https://www.apple.com/support/mail-settings-lookup/ for Mail Setting Look up. the yahoo works fine
the hotmail keeps saying " connection to server failed"
ay ideas why?
Ive shut off and restarted phone
deleted and re added e mail account
checked my mail on computer and it worked fine...
