Emailing (and shrinking) iTunes file

Hi,
I am a musician and have a few tracks from our CDs that I need to email to a concert presenter. A medium to low quality file would be fine since our CDs will be snail mailed later in the week. So how do I lower the quality and if this is possible, what do I "set" the quality at. Please, if you know how to do this, be kind and go slow, I am not so great with my Mac yet. FYI, my MacBook is new, and iTunes is up to date.

Go into File > Preferences… and in the Advanced section click 'Import'.
Make a note of the current settings as you should restore them immediately after compressing your low-fi samples, so you won't screw up later imports.
Now for a start try these settings:
Import Using: MP3 Encoder
Setting: custom…
and in the dialog that opens set the parameters like so:
Bitrate: 64 kbps
unckeck 'use variable bitrate encoding'
(leave the rest unchanged)
The main factor regarding the resulting file size is the bitrate. If the file still turns out too big reduce that further but keep checking the audio quality as well.
When you're done don't forget to restore your previous settings!

Tell Apple. We're just fellow users here and can't control a thing. The sandboxed nature of the iPad, which also means a lack of an overall file manager is what keeps viruses from spreading and improves the stability of the system as a whole. And it's that lack of a file manager system that means you can't just attach something to an e-mail.
What I'd do, reply to the person, i'm sending the attachment next, do that and you're done. 2 e-mails sure but you've accomplished what you need to do.

It depends what file you want to attach. For photo's, tap and hold any photo on the web, tap copy, then hold a blank space on an email, and tap paste.
For other documents, you may need an app. For example, in the Pages application, there is a feature to email a document. Search the App Store.

Files downloaded turn into QuickTime files and not iTune Files!

Hi folks,
I am downloading some songs from mp3search.ru (very very cheap mp3 site) and they are downloaded as iTune files (which is what I require), however, when they download fully they become Quicktime files!
I now have to change them individually to be opened with iTunes but they remain QT files!!
How do I stop QuickTime from being the default and dictating itself as the main MP3 player?!

well, today I browsed iTunes, happened to find something I liked and thought I'd give it a go..
After checking this bit:

Attempting to install iTunes with invalid email and used iTunes gift card

My 9 year old daughter got an iPod Touch and $25 iTunes giftcard. She attempted to open an iTunes account and used the $25 gift card to activate the account. After several attempts and failures with her own email address (apparently because she is not old enough for an account), she tried again with another email address, one that she made up. I sent an email from my email address to the one she used and it came back undeliverable because the email address did not exist. Is the giftcard used up, now? If so, how can I get the money back onto the card to use it on my iTunes account. Please email me the response and let me know if you need the email address she used and/or the iTunes giftcard number.

First, please understand that you are not communicating with Apple when you post here. We're all just fellow users, helping other users as we have time and knowledge to offer.
In a situation like this there's nothing much we can do. My guess is that the iTunes Store automated registration system sent the usual validation request to the made-up email address, and since the address doesn't exist, there's no way to validate the account and access the credit balance. You'll need to contact the iTunes Store Customer Service department using the form on their Support page (select the category and subcategory closest to the issue you're reporting and you'll find either an "Express Lane" button - just follow the instructions to get to the contact form - or an "Email Us" button) and explain your situation to them. I would suggest you include the bogus email address and the gift card number in your message to them.

How to find and move iTunes file from back-up

I have a new drive in my iMac. Now I want to move my iTunes files from my backup, but I want to know how to move it to the new computer so all my equipment will get recognized by iTunes in my new computer. Thank you.

Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the computer. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key so you get a prompt to select a library, then guide it to the iTunes Library.itl file in the moved iTunes folder.
If you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there. (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)

iTunes gifts cannot be gifted from the balance of a redeemed card. You need to have a credit or debit card on file to do this.

How to pass a filename dynamically in incoming email and process that file

Hi,
We have to process an incoming file with XI, the name of which we don't know to design time. The filename is passed dynamically in an incoming email, in the body section. We can parse the filename from the mail already. However, file adapter-sender does not accept variables (whereas receiver does), so we have no way to pass this name to the file-sender.
What would be the best way to implement this scenario? I'd really appreciate a bit more explanation than 1-liner answers (e.g. links to help.sap.com We have SAP XI 7.0 SP15.

Thanks. This is similar to our plan B That is, using a wildcard, processing all files in the incoming directory, and moving them after processing. This way, only the unprocessed files would be in the source folder. IMHO, it's not elegant.
Besides, should a second mail get received, before the first file is processed completely (e.g. due to an error, slow FTPS transfer rate, etc.), the second process would try to pick up the first file as well, which would mess up everything.
There should be a way to set a parameter for the sender-file adapter...

ITunes folder bombarded with iT and Temporary iTunes files = Blank Library

I opened my iTunes folder and there's a long list of iT files and temp files that using up a lot of memory... according to past topics, it's completely okay to erase them
BUT
the really problem is whenever I open up iTunes, the cursor indicates its taking a long time and after about 20 seconds it opens up with a blank library. Apps, music, videos, everything's gone. I make a playlist and a new temp file is formed in my itunes folder. 's been happening since novemeber -_-

Is that a Sony Vaio you have there?

Why can't I add email and send a file.

I have a file to send and I can't type in the email address on the bar where it says To... Also, when I click address book blue icon I'm rerouted to buy the monthly subscription. I've emailed small things before. What am I missing here?

When you click the Share icon and choose E-mail Document, you should be taken to the default Mail client.
It should be no different than if you opened Mail and started a new document.
Mail is totally NOT part of Adobe Reader. I'm really not sure what you have done. Mail can't be directing you to buying a subscription.
Try sending an email from a different PDF file to confirm what I'm saying. Also, refer to the Help file in Reader for instructions.

Will iTunes match remove songs deleted from iTunes when it syncs?
I cleared all iTunes music on my computer to start over clean but didn't remove them from the cloud.

iTunes Match does not have the ability to remove local files.
The service operates by comparing the selected iTunes Library with the iTunes Store content and 'matching' or 'uploading' - it is very straightforward a 'match' provides equivalent access to iTunes Store content as a recognised 'purchase'; upload simply copies a 256k AAC variant into the cloud. There are no elements of this activity that can erase the local library content.
Would suggest you explore possible alternative causes of file loss. Given the pattern described of selective deletion, leaving many Songs intact - would suggest making at least 2 secure offline Song file backups and starting the library again from a fresh install of iTunes once a thorough sweep of the system has been completed for virus. It is also worth assessing the physical security of the system - who has access & with what privileges.
To access Songs from the cloud, you would have to manually delete the Song from the library or open an empty library - so even when accessing content, iTunes Match provides no local deletion capability.

Changed Email and now itunes not working on phone

Help! Just changed email on itunes account and now iphone won't recognize itunes and allow any downloads. It is not letting me changed the email on the phone - any ideas how to fix this?

Did you get this resolved? My guess would be that there is nothing wrong on the ColdFusion side but rather an "issue" with how IE is behaving. I have noticed in some situations that I need to include the domain when authenticating to active directory in IE but not in other browsers. So "domain\username" instead of just "username". If this is your issue I can shed a little light on why it happens or possible steps to resolve.
I should add that I am referring to a setup where IIS is asking for the authentication.

Changed aministrator and lost itune files

i gave my dad my macbook and when he changed admnistrator the itunes songs disappeared. we changed adminstrator back to me and now we can't find the files. please help

I moved itunes file to external hard drive and want to move the file on my pc to recycle bin. When I move i get an error message that it cannot delete ituneshelper.dll access is denied. Can I move that file to the recycle bin?

Yes. And you should not have moved that folder. Put it back. To move your iTunes library move the folder from User's Music.

Why are system and application sound files appearing in itunes?

Suddenly, over 900 system and application sound files, each about a second or 2 long, have appeared in my iPhone 4S music player. They've also appeared in my iTunes on my desktop iMac. Not sure whether they appeared on the computer first or on the phone first. I can't figure out why they appeared there or how to get rid of them (without also removing them from the system and applications which, of course, I don't want to do).
I searched through the discussions here and found several other people complaining about the same thing, going back a couple of years, but no solutions offered. I hope someone can offer a clue.

Thanks for the suggestions and help. While the cause of this problem is still obscure, we've managed, with an Apple tech's help, to remove the system/application sound files from both the iPhone and iTunes. We used Time Machine to backtrack to the point at which the sound files first appeared in the iTunes folder, then moved back one more day and restored the iTunes Media folder (where all the music was stored) and 2 iTunes files: iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music Library.xml (we could also have simply restored the entire iTunes folder with the same effect). Then we synced the iPhone.
As for the cause, that's still a puzzle. From Time Machine, we were able to determine that the files were added between midnight and 12:47 AM on a particular day, but that computer was not in use at that time (the user was asleep in bed, and the only other person in the house at the time was me -- and I don't touch that computer).
