Emailing .BMP Files

'Some' .BMP files that are emailed to me simply show up as an icon at the end of the message with 'filename.bmp' posted below it.
I thought that maybe it wasn't downloaded so I would refresh the email or click on it to try to get it to download but it doesn't change anything. I can't get it to display from the email. It doesn't seem to be a size issue.
Going into the mail from my computer I can detach the picture and transfer it over to the iPhone through sync and view it without a problem. Any ideas on what we are doing wrong?

You were right again.
Seems this also helped answer my earlier incompatibility issue too. Looks like the iTunes software converts all pictures to .JPG when you load them onto your iPhone. Pictures that I have in my sync folder have been converted to .JPG when I select them to mail out to someone else. It's also quite picky about the exact format of the .JPG incoming from outside sources.
When I use an external email source to email myself a .BMP it does not display the picture, just an icon with the filename displayed below it.

  • Why do JPEG files show up as BMP files when I email

Can someone help me send a full size JPEG Picture to a windows user without it changing it to a BMP file? I have chosen 'Always send windows-friendly attachments' and chosen 'Full Size', but it comes across as a .BMP file instead of JPEG.
    Please help

If the person is using Yahoo on the other end they have to view your attachments by clicking on the "search shortcuts" and "my attachments". Then they will see the attachments as jpgs and have an option to download them. I am not sure what is happening because jpegs that I send by editing them in Adobe Photoshop Elements and dragging into mail attach in Yahoo normally.
Yahoo may be using bmp files to display the files when the actual file is actually a jpeg.

  • Load .bmp file into BLOB column in 9i - how to?

    Hello all,
How do I update a table with a BLOB column with a .bmp file in 9i? I tried using the DBMS_LOB package but got a ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: invalid LOB locator specified: ORA-22275 (and since there is more native support in 9i, I'm not sure I need it to begin with). • "foxit" took a notion to auto update - Adobe will no longer open scanned .bmp files

So, Foxit had apparently been installed on a users PC for some time. It decided to update itself over night? Anyway, the woman came in the next morning and Adobe Reader was no longer installed, assuming foxit had uninstalled it *so thankful*. Foxit would open the .bmp files and allow view as a pdf. Of course Adobe is what she was used to and needed.
    So,
    Re-installed Adobe reader XI
Scanned files would open normally from .bmp and give an option to "save as pdf" - (I'm not sure what she was able to open the files in (im assuming adobe))
After the Adobe re-install this will not work any more. I've taken the scanned .bmp file straight from the scanner and set it to .pdf and get error message " either not a supported file type or the file has been damaged. could have been sent as email and has been decoded incorrectly"
Could this have anything to do with fox it changing something?
*I've set .bmp file association to default to reader*

I can't tell exactly what you have going there but Adobe Reader does not and never has opened .bmp files. So whatever you were using to open the bmp and save to pdf is what is having the problem here. That wouldn't be Adobe Reader but something else.

You can't just take a .bmp file and change the extension to .pdf. That is why Reader is giving you that error.
Assuming I understand what you are asking here...
Also, I would strongly suggest that the user disallow updates like that happening when she doesn't give permission first. Set an administrator password that has to be entered before the update. Not doing that is a recipe for disaster.

I found the Solution. Please read the entire post.
Same Problem, I can't save the image. I just made a new desktop wallpaper, and I go to Save As.. and it does not show ANY image formats.
-I can choose to save as..
    --Photoshop
    --Cineon
    --D3D/DDS
    --Dicom
    --Large Document Format
    --Photoshop PDF
    --Photoshop Raw
    --PNG
    --TIFF
That is all there is in the format drop down menu.
Image is 1024x768, Locked background layer, 16 bit colour.
I recently installed Xp Service pack 3, and as far as I know, I could save them before that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, so please reply to this or send me an email at ---(Email Addres Deleted)---
    *EDIT*
Turns out that the image needs to be 8 Bits/Channel. To do this, select the image and follow these menu instructions..

    ---Select 8 Bits/Channel

  • When saving a bmp file on the iphone, is the file being manipulated ?

Hi, i've searched the forum, the net and documentation and couldn't find the answer-
When i save a bmp file to my iphone photos library, for example, when downloading it from a web or from an email, is the BMP file being manipulated to another form when it is saved on the iphone file system ?
my application deals with BMP files (among others). in my application flow, a user will choose a BMP image from the photo library (an image he previously put there as described before) and the application will need to use this image's BMP data AND i MUST be sure that the BMP file data did not change at all since the time it was stored in the photo library until my application retrieved it.
    would really appreciate an answer,
    thanks a lot.

    Hi,
    Thanks,
The reason i work with BMP is that part of my app algorithm is an old and working C code which does what i need over a BMP file. Implementing that code in objective-c might be too much of an overhead for me.
You're right about the test. i'll do it ASAP.
Does anybody know if there's a simple way or what is the most simple way to write a PNG file to my Documents directory (app sandbox) as a BMP ? and i mean a real BMP image file.. a one i can actually open with some preview application.
assuming that a user chose a PNG image from the photo library (i'm using UIImagePickerControl), i recieve the image as UIImage* (to the userFinishedPickingImageithInfo ) in my app and i would like to write the selected image as a pure BMP file to my Documents dir.
    thanks !

  • Converting Picture to *.bmp file

    Hi,
With the excellent pictures/ graphs that LabVIEW is able to produce, I
haven't been able to convert a picture (blue squiggly line datatype!) to a
pixmap or flattened pixmap for the purpose of saving as a JPEG/BMP file.
Can this be done? If so please let me know.

I've come across the same problem you have, and the only (altough not very nice solution) is to write a subvi with the picture as input (and only the picture visable on the front panel!), set the picture draw area to show the entire picture and next use the invoke node "Get panel image" with only visable area set to "False". This creates a flattened pixmap wich you can use as input for the write to *.jpg, *.png or *.bmp vi's.
There is however one catch. The front panel has to be activated (shown) for a brief period of time, since otherwise the picture won't redraw the data. The size of the front panel is however not important, so I briefly open the front panel in a very tiny format somewhere at the bottom of the screen, so the user never notices that the screen was brie
    fly active.
I know this method is not very nice, but since there seems to be no other way to convert the picture to flattened data it is (for now) the only solution I can think of.
I hope I've helped you with this information,
    Marcel Kalf.

  • Save an 16 bits grayscale image in a bmp file

    Hello,
I need to save a bmp file using an I16 grayscale picture.
I already did the following VI that saves the picture in bmp but the colors are not good : there is only blue levels.
I think there is a problem with the type of data that feed "array to color image" or with the colorscale but i don't manage to find where.
    Hope you can help me.
    Tank you.

    Hi
The arraytocolorimage expects U32 because expects a RGB color, try this instead of the "toU32"

  • Issue in creating bmp file with cl_igs_chart_engine class

    Hi All,
I want to populate dynamic graphic in a smartform.
Im using cl_igs_chart_engine class to produce a GIF format of a chart.
Then im trying to use class cl_igs_image_converter to convert that gif into a bmp format using INPUT = 'image/gif' and OUTPUT = 'image/x-ms-bmp'.
but it returns with system failure exception  in
    call function 'PIGFARMDATA' .
There is no error happening in case of converting any graphic format(bmp, tiff) to gif format but system failure exception occurs while trying to convert into bmp format.
    Appreciate your inputs.

    Hi,
I have taken a copy of program GRAPHICS_IGS_CE_TEST and made changes in it. In std program, file type in customizing XML is 'PNJ'. I changed it to 'BMP' as per your suggestion. However, in the
    call method l_igs_ce->execute
          exceptions
          others = 1.
there is a call function for 'PIGFARMDATA'. Im getting exception error( sy-subrc = 2) for system failure.
This program works fine if the file type in customizing XML is 'GIF' or 'PNG' but not for 'BMP' file types.
    Please advice.

  • How do I create a slide where users can upload a file to server or email a file?

Could anyone guide me in how I could go about creating a slide where users can either email a file or upload it to my server?
Any help would be greatly appriciated...
    Steve

    Hello,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
I am not sure how you can Upload a file, you might need a Javascript.
You can create a slide and a button of that slide can call the default Email client (MS Outlook, Outlook Express....)
    1) On  you Slide insert a button (Insert -> Standard Object -> Button
    2) Double Click on that button and select "Open URL or file" for On Success (Under Properties Inspector)
    3) Write "mailto:[email protected]" in the URL box (For Example : [email protected])
    4) Publish the result, when you click on the button, it will call the default mail client.
    Screenshot :
Note : This might not work if you have a Network Security which do not allow calling Mail Client through a Script (Clicking of Button calls the script)
    Thanks,
    Vikram

How do I get back the ability to send emails with photos embedded. I like adding the frames and backgrounds and I think it's easier for recipients to look at the photos. I had a similar problem in that my wife's iphone 5 could not send pics with imessage.  Had to set the settings to default to SMS or whatever.  After laboring many hours on the web I coincidentally was on the phone with the internet people to question my internet speed.  They changed the router channel, which is something that I am capable of doing myself.  After that, the pics go over imessage.  My own Iphone didn't have the problem.  We are both latest IOS 7.0.6.

we'll win the FIFA World Cup!!

The easiest way to do that is to get a graphics package that can convert a BMP file to a JPG file. Some versions of Microsoft Paint will do that, but you should be able to find another one if you need it.
I hope Brazil wins, but if they don't it will be because the referees give it to Korea.
