Emailing calendar event question

Is it possible to email a calendar event from my iMac to someone with an iPhone, so they can easily add the event to their calendar?  If I email an event, the outgoing message says:
"To add it to your calendar, click the link below"
But when they click the iCal...ics link in the email, nothing happens.  I know if I view the same email on my Mac in the Mail app and click on the link, I'm prompted to add the event to my calendar.
-Thanks

Sorry, answering my own question. It seems you have to do it on iCloud. Kind of frustrating if you're not on your computer but at least it's possible. Thanks for reading.

  • ICloud with personal email - Calendar Event Sharing

Calendar event sharing seems to be a pain for a lot of people especially because of the new iCloud and even more so if you are a legacy .Me or .Mac user.
First of all if you are a first time iCloud user and you entered your own personal e-mail address as your AppleID - you will not be able to send calendar events.
Calendar events (created from your computer (iCal or iPhone) to your spouse or whomever) have to be sent by Apple.  If Apple does not have a .mac or .me account associated to your iCloud account it doesn't work.  What happens is you can not invite anyone to events and when someone invites you, instead of the calendar event going into your calendar you get the invite as an e-mail message and you have to manually download the ical request.
BRAND NEW iCLOUD USER BUT CAN'T SEND CALENDAR EVENTS
So if you created an iCloud account from scratch with a personal e-mail address, you must go to your system prefs > iCloud, turn on "Mail & Notes" (even if you are not using iCloud e-mailand are using your own) THEN iCloud will ask you to create a new .me email address!  You have to come up with a new email address and it will be associated with your AppleID.  Then you can turn off the Mail & Notes option and now the calendar can send and accept calendar invites.
.ME OR .MAC USER MIGRATION BUT CAN'T SEND CALENDAR EVENTS
When I migrated from my .me account to iCould everything moved fine.  But I soon came to realize that I no longer needed my .me account anymore.  I had a different AppleID than my .me so I figured, now is a good time to stop using my [email protected] account and switch to my personal AppleID '[email protected]' address.  When I deleted my old iCloud account from my computer and added a new one (with my old original appleID) i was then unable to send calendar events.  I realized that Apple has no way to send on my behalf.  I have no email accout with apple.  That is just because your AppleID is an email address doen not mean that Apple can use it to send and recieve email.  * Your AppleID being your persoanl email address does not mean you have created an email account with apple, it means that you have created a Login ID with apple *  Much the same way that Amazon.com can ask you to login and you enter your personal email address to do so.. In both cases they are just using your email as your ID with their system.  SO, if you create an iCloud account from an AppleID that is your primary email address this means that you will also need a email address with Apple's .me or .mac system to send on your behalf, calendar invites.

Only icloud.com email accounts can be used on icloud now.  No personal domains.  You will have to buy a contract at some web/email provider to set up an account with them.
I very much doubt Apple is going to get into the provider business.

  • Calendar Event Question

I'm new to iPhone, coming from Blackberry. I would like to be able to schedule an event to repeat every five weeks and another event every four weeks. Is there a way to customize this? If not, can you recommend an app which will give me a reminder every four and/or every five weeks? Thank you!

  • Getting Undeliverable Email when Sending Calendar Event

My CEO bought a new iPhone and I have it working with our Exchange 2003 email server and Outlook 2007. The only problem he has is when he sends a calendar event it sends an undeliverable email. The strange thing is the event shows in his Outlook calendar.
    The full undeliverable email is:
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.
    Subject:
    Sent: 1/5/2010 9:21 PM
The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:
System Attendant on 1/5/2010 9:21 PM
The e-mail address could not be found. Perhaps the recipient moved to a different e-mail organization, or there was a mistake in the address. Check the address and try again.
    <Exchange.XXXX.LOCAL #5.1.7>
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
Based on the error message, I think it's a permission issue.
It seems the user who is trying to send the message does not have "Send on Behalf" permissions or "Send As" permissions to the mailbox. Please confirm this, grant the user the proper permission if he doesn't have it.
Set the user as a delegate automatically receives "Send on Behalf" permissions. For example, to designate a user as the delegate in Outlook 2010, follow these steps:
Click the File tab, click Account Settings, and then click
    Delegate Access.
In the Delegates dialog box, click Add.
Type the name of the person whom you want to designate as your delegate, or search for and then click the name in the search results list.
Note The delegate must be a person in the Microsoft Exchange global address list (GAL).
Click Add, and then click OK.
In the Delegate Permissions dialog box, accept the default permissions settings or select custom access levels for Exchange folders.
To send a message to notify the delegate of the changed permissions, click to select the
Automatically send a message to delegate summarizing these permissions check box.
If you want to grant additional permissions for the delegate to view private items, click to select the
Delegate can see my private items check box.
    Click OK two times.
If the user needs the "send as" permission, you may need to do it on Exchange. If you have any questions about granting the user "send as" permission, you can post a question in Exchange forum:

  • Have problem setting Email alerts for Calendar events. Warning message says I need to set up a card in Contacts with my email. I do but it doesn't recognize it. How do I indicate the email I want alerts sent to?

The system of setting up email alerts for Calendar events worked fine in Snow Leopard but since I upgraded to Mt. Lion Calendar won't let me set email alerts. When I try, I get an error message saying I need to set up a card in Contacts for my email. I have a card set up in Contacts for both of my email addresses but it doesn't recognize them. Perhaps the name I have on the card doesn't match a name that Calendar is looking for. Calendar doesn't seem to have a way in Preferences or elsewhere to indicate the email I want alerts sent to. Any ideas how I can get this system working again? Thanks for your help.

You might want to consider starting a new discussion. Since this one is marked solved, less people are likely to look at it. You can link to this one.
See if another contact is marked as this is my card.

  • No longer able to drag Outlook emails to Outlook calendar events

I use Outlook 2007 on my PC, and sync it to my iPhone and iPad using iCloud.  I used to be able to drag an email to the notes section of an Outlook calendar event, but it looks like this ability/feature is now gone.  Can I get this feature back? I even tried opening an old Outlook calendar event to which I knew I had dragged-and-dropped an email.  when I opened the event, it momentarily flashed up with the attached email in the event notes section, but then the email disappeared.  Frustrating!  I drag emails to this section so that I have the details of my event linked to the event, and not cluttering up my inbox.

Have you tried clicking "Reset Sync History..." in iSync preferences?
Also, make sure you have at least one 'local' calendar set up in iCal - rather than just 'subscribed' ones.

  • How can I get rid of calendar events initiated from my old email address?

I have a bunch of old reoccuring calendar events created using a previous email address. I now cannot delete them because "I" am not the originator of the event. The email doesn't exist anymore. I can decline all future occuring events, but it still doesn't take it off my calendar.
    thanks

    Scott,
NP. What I did last time and will try again is:
    1) Attached the Touch to my PC and from within iTunes I select the Touch icon.
    2) From the SUMMARY tab, I choose to Restore.
    3) Under the INFO tab I only have "Sync contacts with OUTLOOK" and "Sync bookmarks with INTERNET EXPLORER" checked. Nothing is checked in the Calendar area.
Last time I did this it downloaded the 1.1.2 software too. I thought I already had this, but it downloaded it anyway. Regardless, the majority of the time was reloading my 13.34G of data (this is the real number, I estimated before). That took about 2+ hours. In the process, I could see that my storage usage bar did clear completely. So this process did restore all of my date. But again, how could the clock information still be there? That proves that the restore does not clear all information.
Will let you know how it goes.

  • Time format in calendar events invitation emails is always 12H

    Hi,
When sending calendar events invitation from iCloud, the time of the event displayed in the email is always with a 12hours format. Any idea how to solve this ?
    Thanks,

If you go to the Settings Menu, and select Date & Time change the clock to use the 24 - Hour Time.
    Cheers,
That only work for the main screen date and time display as well as the default clock included with the Playbook, but if you go to the BBridge Calendar, BBridge Task, when you set up a new appointment/task the only time that is there is the AM/PM one and not the 24h time, which I mentioned before is extremely confusing for me since I never ever worked with that system and I have no clue when is AM and when is PM

  • Two alarms (emails) from one calendar event

My events that have an email alarm set send me two email notices: one from my comcast address and one from my mobile me account. Is this because I am synching my calendar events to mobile me? Is there any way to get exactly one email notice?

Are you syncing the iPod to the same computer/iTunes library you have always synced it with?
Are these newly purchased songs configured to sync to your iPod?  Double check what options you have enabled from under the iPod's Music and Summary tab. For example, if you have the Sync only checked songs option ticked from under the iPod's Summary tab, make sure these newly purchased tracks have tick marks next to them in your main iTunes library and then resync your Nano.

  • Email a calendar event from my iphone to a friend as a attachment.

How do I email a calendar event to a friend as a attachment from my iphone

I totally agree that this would be a great up date to the iPhone. I would also like to be able to e-mail contact information as an attachment from my phone. I come across the need to do both of things on almost a daily basis.

  • Dissapearing emails with calendar events

Whenever I receive an email containing a Calendar Event invitation the email just deletes itself after accepting the invitation. The event is correctly added to the Calendar but the email message dissapears and I cannot access the message from a different device (e.g. office PC). It is annoying!

You may want to check your calendar events settings and make sure the to and from date are just for that one day and also make sure your reminder is set for one time event and not daily on your device as well as your repetition is set to one time event.

  • What way can I format my emails so iphone can create calendar events automatically with all the information?

I use a website to send emails to myself. It already sorta creates the calendar event but requires a lot of editing. The link-back to the email makes it super easy to just go to the original. But I'm wondering if there's a specific format I can put the emails so that when creating the calendar event, it just has all the information, instead of parts of it?

Please don't respond with useless comments.  I've already addressed the fact that my screen was broken a few months ago.  My phone may or may not be broken beyond repair either way, as I said before I can't afford a new phone.  It's a strange problem because from what I can tell no one else has posted the same problem anywhere I can find.  Don't be a dickhole.

  • Duplication of calendar events seems to be tied to 2 email accouts (blackberry curve)

i have duplication of calendar events. i beleve my 2 email accounts (business and a gmail) are somehow tied to the calendar. i had no duplication before i added the gmail account. i have temp. solved the problem first deleteing the gmail account and then going to desktop -- backup/restore -- advanced -- and then clearing the calendar/calendar all. then i resyned, all is good now but i want to add my personal gmail back.

i can do that, but i was just thinking it may happen again becz of this post below ...
"Christine, has that user recently upgraded his OS to 4.5? Some users as they migrate either lose calendar events, or they become duplicated, dut to the new OS 4.5 having calendar events tied to email address profiles.
If this could be his issue... read and see if it fits:

  • Put email details into a calendar event

I am curious if there exists a simple way to use an email to create a calendar event that will have the email content embedded in the comments section of the event.  In researching I know that I can drag and drop an email into the calendar to create the event; that works fine, but it only carries over the email title to the calendar event.  I could open up the email and copy the text and then open up the event and paste, but I am hoping for something a little more automated.
The ultimate goal here is to have a better way to manage my way through email.  I get numerous emails that have deadlines and or deliverables with information being provided in the email text, as well as, attachments.  I would like to be able to place that information on a calendar event so that when the event comes up, I don't have to troll back through my email to find it.
I am open to ideas both delivered and hacked... My guess is that the answer to delivered is "nope" (at least in Mac Mail, maybe another mail client?); I have been pretty persistent in trying to figure it out.  Hacked? I don't know.  Applescript maybe?
I would enjoy hearing thoughts and ideas from those far wiser than me...
