Emailing documents from Pages via Mail/Gmail?

I'm having a strange problem with the new version of Pages and Apple Mail. When I try to attach a Pages 5.0 file, sending the emal fails with an error message, "Cannot Send Mail. Sending the message content to the server failed." This happens whether I use the "share" button or drag the document into the message.
If I drag a document created with the older verison of Pages, it works just fine.
And if I use another mail client to send the file, with the same GMail account, it also works fine.
Any thoughts?

The new Pages 5 format is an odd compressed bundle, which is being misread by most non-Apple servers.
The answer is probably the same as for all the long list of problems and ommissions in Pages 5:
Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Archive/trash Pages 5, after Exporting your files to Pages '09, and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

Can't email document from pages

I cannot email any document from pages . Kept getting message that says" can't send or save message", even though i get the swoosh message sent sound. This has never happened before.

I just tried it on my iPad and it went through.
Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.

You are running an outdated version of Pages '09 v4. The iWork site was shutdown years ago.
Which version of OS X are you running ( ▸ About This Mac)? And the exact version of Pages '09 v4 (Pages > About Pages)?
The short answer is to save your Pages '09 document to the filesystem, open Mail, and drag/drop the Pages document into the compose window. If this is going to people without Pages, export it as a Word document (.doc), and then attach it to Mail.

Turn off rich text in your email signature. Delete images too, if any.

The Send a Copy option is only in Pages v5.5.1 on Yosemite, and is accessible from the Share toolbar item on the document window. In your case, with Pages ’09 v4.3, as I mentioned, the Menu > Share > Send via Email items are inoperable with Yosemitie.
You workaround is to use the Menu > Share > Export > PDF… option, or the File > Export > PDF… option — and then drag/drop the PDF from disk onto your Mail message body after the content. Or, you can use the paper-clip icon in the Mail Compose toolbar to attach the PDF. The PDF will appear as a page in your email. Right-click (two-finger tap) on this image, and from the contextual menu — select icon view.

Pages ’09 v4.3 and Pages v5.2.2 are entirely different document architectures. Consequently, copying and pasting a table from Pages ’09 circumvents the customary translation process that would occur if you opened that Pages ’09 document in Pages v5.
Make a backup copy of the Pages ’09 document that has the table in it, and then open this document in Pages v5.2.2. The table is translated into Pages v5 document format and displayed correctly. You can even select this Pages v5.2.2 table, and then copy/paste it into another Pages v5.2.2 document with accurate results.

Possibly.
You could test that by dropping a largish image into a test Pages document and duplicating it until your document won't send.
Some eMail clients have ceiling levels for file sizes, as do some receiving servers.
Also test to see if you can simply export your file to pdf, in which case it will be retained on your iPad. That would be a first step.

When I "share" documents from Pages or GoodReader via email It looks and sounds like documents have been sent but they never arrive and when I check my "sent" file, they aren't there. Which email service provider are you using? You can install DropBox and share links to the files that way. When you snd to your self (cc or bcc) do the items show up? What file types and sizes are these attachments? Are you sending over WiFi or cellular connection? Try using more than one email account from a different provider (Gmail, yahoo, iCloud, etc) and see if it is email provider specific.

Since OS X Yosemite upgrade, cannot share document from pages in word format. Therefore document cannot be opened by non apple user. How do I get around this please?

Since the OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 update to my iMac (27 inch, Mid 2010) , I can no longer "share" a document from Pages in word format via email. It can be sent as an att but then as "Pages" cannot be accessed by a non apple receiver. Please what is the answer, the old method was fast, simple and efficient.

Are you using the File > Export function? It will deposit a Word document onto your desktop (or any folder you choose) and then you can attach it to your email.

I need to email a document I have made in pages on my ipad, no error messages are showing but the email isn't appearing in my inbox, does anyone know a way around this? I need to get the document off my ipad onto a computer, the usual way I do this is via email, but this isn't working

Have you checked to make sure that you are getting other emails in your email account? Did you try emailing anything else at all to yourself to see of it comes through?
If you are receiving emails otherwise, have you tried emailing another document from Pages to yourself? You might have a problem with the file that you are trying to email.
If you can't email the file and you want to get it onto a computer, just log into iCloud.com on your computer. Enter your username and password. Click on the Pages icon. Find the document that you want to download. Right click on it and select download.
