Emailing images/ attachments via embedded

In the old OS you could send images from the iPhone and the images were embedded into the body of the email. Now when you send on iPhone 4 or iOS4, the images are only attachments. Is there a setting that you can change so the images are not just attachments but embedded into the body of the email?

I am having this same problem with photos being sent as attachments, not as embedded items that are in-line with the text.
Have you heard anything else regarding this?

  • IPhone and using email Image attachments

Hi - I am hoping someone can help. I am trying to work out whether it is possible to "use" photos that are received in emails on an iPhone. For instance, you receive a photo and would like to change it your wallpaper, or add it to someone's contact info - is this possible? I am unable currently to work out how.
    Many thanks, Jules

Not possible at the moment. The photos would have to be saved on your PC then sync-ed to the phone

  • Email image cache

    Hi guys,
I am having trouble with mail failing to refresh images that are sent via html emails. Essentially, I have a web based script that sends an email containing one image (and nothing else) to a mailing list. When I first sent the email to myself it worked fine, but on updating the image and sending again, Mail displays the old 'original' image and not the new one.
Is there a cache setting or something for this?
    Thanks,
    Isaac

    Hi Isaac.
Apparently, Mail becomes confused if the name of the attachment is the same in different messages, but given the information you’ve provided it isn’t clear at all whether that’s the problem in your case:
Mail displaying attachment from previous email
    Image attachments on multiple messages
Mail does keep a cache in ~/Library/Caches/Mail — not to be confused with the ~/Library/Mail folder where all your mail is locally stored. You may try quitting Mail and trashing the Mail cache (or just moving it out of there, e.g. to the Desktop), but I’m not positive that will make a difference.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. That is, ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder, i.e. /Users/username/Library.

  • Images sent via email are not attachments

I upgraded to Lion and now, jpeg images sent via email are not attachments but are rather images embedded in the message. I want my attachments back!! Those I send images to are saying they can not save the files as there are no attachments. How do I fix this? Everything was fine with Snow Leopard and running a photography business has me sending images a lot. Clients used to "save" the images or "select all" because they were attachment files. Now they can only see the imbedded image that is not a file.
Also, I used to send jpeg images to my Windows 7 Phone to build my portfolio when I had Snow Leopard and now with Lion I do not have files sent to my phone but the image itself which I can't save to my phone.
    HELP!

Does the Control+Click work with PC's? My clients use PC's and they cant download the embedded images. One client specifically is a webmaster for a sports club I photograph at every sporting event. At the end of each event I may have 40 + photos downsized and sent to him to post on his site so each email will have 7 - 10 images.
With Snow Leopard, the images would be attached files but also imbedded images on my end. On his end, they're attached files he could just select all and save then put on the site. Now he and other PC clients are saying he can only save one image at a time. This is a lot of work and seems a bit backwards to me.
When sending to my Windows 7 Phone, the image is not embedded but shows up as an attached file which my phone then gives me the option to "save to phone". Now it's an embedded image with no options to save to phone.
I will have a look at the Attachments Tamer but it seems crazy to have to buy an app for something that seems simple to fix on Apple's end.

  • Can i send images by email as attachments rather than embedded in email

can i send images by email as attachments rather than embedded in email

How the email message looks in Mail is fairly irrelevant to how it will look to the recipient.  An image attached to an email message is an attachment regardless of how the client displays it.  Some will display it inline, others as an icon in a list of attached files.  Regardless, it is an attachment and should be capable of being opened, saved to another location, etc.
Unfortunately, some Windows email clients (*cough* Outlook *cough*) are absolutely crippled when it comes to email standards, and make it difficult for recipients to view or save some attached images.  You can better ensure success with Outlook by using Windows-friendly attachments and only sending plain text email, rather than HTML email.  However, Outlook is still Outlook, and it does not play well with others.
If you must communicate with people who use Outlook  try uploading your photos to an album on Picasa, Flikr, Shutterfly, etc, and then send people a link instead.  Or convince them to use a real email client, like Thunderbird.

  • Image attachments sent from Cameraroll are displayed inline/embedded - why?

    Dear community!
I often send pictures from the camera-roll by email to several email-addresses.
I would like the recipient to recieve the email with the images as attachments, but now, they are displayed as "inline" / "embedded" images in the mail body, instead of file attachments. Some of my recievers are using a CMS system to handle inbound email, and in these cases, when the images are embedded, they will not recieve the attachments correctly in their system.
Is there any settings to toggle this ?
    Best regards,
    Daniel

As with the Mail app on a Mac, the iOS Mail app displays all image attachments as inline or viewed in place, which is not the same as embedded. Photos are sent as true attachments to the email.
Depending on the recipient's email client, a photo attached to an email will appear inline or viewed in place (as with the Mail app on a Mac or with the iOS Mail app), or as an attached file only which must be opened separately to be viewed, which the sending email client has no control over.
When I receive a photo attachment sent by Outlook that appears as an attached file only with the sent email in Outlook, the photo appears inline or viewed in place within the body of the email with the Mail app on  my Mac and with the iOS Mail app with my iPhone and iPad, which Outlook has no control over.
You cannot change how an attached photo or image appears in the message body with the iOS Mail app, and an attached photo or image that appears inline or viewed in place is not the same as embedded. The iOS Mail app does not support composing in HTML, which is required to embed an image.

  • How do I stop lion mail embedding image attachments

I have tried everything I know to get around this but I can't seem to just send images as attachments.
My clients are now getting really fed up with it and it is probably loosing me business.
I write an email I click the attach Icon - it embeds the image in the email.
EVERY client is complaining they can't get the picture out the email and that's everyone from Blackberry users to Outlook users.
NEVER had the problem before switching to LION now I can't stop it.
    Tried converting to plain text.
    Tried windows friendly.
Tried add to end of message.
Tried showing attachment as icon instead.
Only thing that works is Zipping it up - but some 'secretaries' dont know what to do with that, and they can't install additional software on the works computer...blah, blah.... just more hassle.
This is ridiculas! is there a solution before I go out an by a PC to send emails!
    Thanks.

Try the Terminal command on this blog....

  • Help! Trying to print emails w/PDF attachments via bluetooth from 8300 to HP OfficeJet8470

Trying to print emails w/PDF attachments via bluetooth from 8300 to HP OfficeJet8470.
My boss shopped for and picked this phone based on the store staff.  He wants to be able to have our service tech be able to receive work orders via email, in the form of a pdf attachment, and be able to print using the bluetooth enabled HP Office Jet 8470, hardware that was sold to him in another store with the statements that it would work with his application.
Everything I have seen on this site, and the lack of information elsewhere, leads me to question if we have the correct applications/hardware at all...
If so, I need to be able to explain clearly to my boss any options that we have, and why or why not it won't work.
Any ideas at all?  Thanks in advance~    Reagan

Your BlackBerry alone won't connect to a Bluetooth printer. Whoever told him that it would should be questioned.
However, there is an application called BeamSuite, that offers a printing solution specifically for PDF documens that you should explore...
Print Documents to a Bluetooth Enabled Printer
    http://www.slgmobile.com/beamsuite.html
BeamSuite is much more than a document viewer though. You can also print your documents directly from your BlackBerry to any Bluetooth enabled printer. Simply pair your BlackBerry device with the printer and print your documents.
If your printer is not Bluetooth enabled, you can still print your documents to it by connecting a Bluetooth printer adapter to your printer that connects to the printer’s USB port. A key differentiator of our solution is that it allows you to easily and transparently print to over 1500 compatible printers from virtually any BlackBerry device, not just the latest and the most powerful BlackBerry.

  • Email images via Comcast are being blocked yet under "Contents" all images are allowed. How to correct?

Email images via Comcast are not being loaded. Comcast says its not them, that its Firefox. Under Tools Contents All Images Loading is checked. What Firefox setting(s) do I need to do to get my email images to load. They used to until a couple of weeks ago.

All I had to do was update my clock time and it fixed the issue. My clock was showing December 6, 2014 as the date. Sorry. You can consider this resolved, Thank you!

  • Image attachments sent to me by another are being downsized

I'm a freelance designer, and one of my clients sends me all work via e-mail. The last few days, when she sends me images (that she received from another client) they are downsized to a point where I can't even use them. Is there a setting somewhere that would automatically resize any images?
    Thanks in advance ...

Some email client software or email provider may be changing the file
    size of image in an email, to accommodate their own system limitations;
so perhaps if the sender of the original email/image were to contain such
images in an archive, to put such images together in a folder then archive
them so they would be as-sent, then open them on your end, it may work.
But any limits the email provider or client may have on the user accounts
in question could affect the size and/or quality of attached or included items.
    If using an account such as gmail, actual attachments can be rather large;
and single images or .zip archives can be handled with relative ease. And,
if the other party has a way to host or upload image to a web page, you
could get them directly. There is a chance some conversion is taking place
and once the content is lost, you won't get it back when the file is changed.
Perhaps someone with more experience handling, sending, and converting
images can suggest more exact ideas on this matter. More information would
likely be needed to answer a question with more detail. Types, sizes of files,
what the middle-party may be doing to the initial files (if not just forwarding)
& if there is a ceiling on one of their email accounts that may edit image size.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Scrolling to view image attachments!

I just upgraded to Tiger, and noticed that in Mail when I get an email with an image attachment, I have to scroll up, down, left or right to view the entire thing.
If I remember correctly, in Panther it would scale the image to fit in the window. This is very annoying being that I must view images sent in emails all day long! Please help! Thanks.
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   Mail

    Hi Mike,
    Welcome to the Discussions.
The scaling of images that are true attachments works the same in Tiger (Mail 2.x) as it did in Panther (Mail 1.3.x). There may be differences where images in the emails you receive are embedded in HTML. These are the only images I have seen behave to not scale.
To check for the presence of HTML, open one of these messages, click on View in the Menubar, place the cursor on Message and choose Raw Source. This will show you how much HTML is present.
Also, do these messages have the Slideshow button showing in the last line of the Headers?
    More info, please.

  • Some email images do not show while using the icloud web app.  I can see the images on my IOS devices and in gmail but I only see a small gray box in the icloud web mail app.  Load HTML images is checked in preferences.

Some email images do not show while using the icloud web app.  I can see the images on my IOS devices and in gmail but I only see a small gray box in the icloud web mail app.  Load HTML images is checked in preferences.  Is there a solution to this issue?

I've seen the opposite issue.  My wife recieved an email with jpg attachments.  She couldn't see or print them on her iPhone 4S but they showed up fine in iCloud or in the mail app.  I had her forward the email to herself and then they showed up.  I assume there is an issue with how Apple is processing the attachments and resending causes them to get reformatted in a way that makes them easier to handle.
So yeah.  Seems like some bugs.  Hope Apple fixes them soon.

  • TS3276 how do I send photos in email without them being embedded in the email (and therefore un-downloadable)?

How can I send photos in an email without them being embedded (and therefore un-downloadable)?

They are still attachments, even though you see the embedded version (which can be turned off by rightclicking the embedded attachment and choosing 'View as Icon')

  • Why is it when I save an email with attachments, the attachments are not in the saved email?

Does anyone know why it is when you save an email that has images (attachments) when you go to access the file again with the images, they are not in the document?
The box marked "save attachments" is ticked?
    I dont understand
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

Is this your Apple account or some other mail?
And are they all in the Inbox of your Mail? If so, rebuild the mailbox. If this is huge, it'll take some time.
IF the images are HUGE, it'll take time to download them from the server to your computer. But once done they should remain there without the need to do anything at all (by default they are already saved).
To click the Save button is to save them somewhere on your hard drive ... maybe to offload elsewhere later.
Actually, you could just as easily save them to iPhoto instead of using Mail to look for and view them. Its a much faster viewing process, and you could set them up by dealers, artists, etc. ... or so I think.
