Emailing iphotos

I am having issues send pics from iphoto through mail. The pictures look great on iphoto and mobile me gallery, but when I send them to other people, they are small and grainy even using the highest quality setting. I send them to myself and pull them into iphoto and the quality is horrible. Any help would be great.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Did you also set the size in the Mail window?

Are you using the app 'Mail'? Assuming nothing's been changed on your computer it may be just a temporary glitch and right itself. If it persists, sometimes deleting the account in Mail and creating it again can fix things.

  • Sending photos by email - Iphoto beginner

I select a photo and click 'share', but the email option is greyed-out. What am I not doing, or doing wrong? Thanks

Have you added a mail account in the iPhoto preferences?
Open the "accounts" pane in the Preferences and press"+" to add an email account.
And select a Mailer in the "General" Preferences tab.  I recommend to set this to "Email photos using: Mail" - That is working more reliably than "Using iPhoto".

  • Email iphoto slide show

How do I send an iphoto slide show with music via email?

    Probably, you don't.
Many email services have an attachment limit if 20mb and some an attachment limit of 10mb. That means that video is rarely suitable for emailing.
    Options:
Upload it to a sharing site like YouTube or Vimeo and email a link - these will allow the recipient to view the material onlne.
Upload it to sharing services like Dropbox or YouSendIt and email a link. This will require that they downoad the material to their machines to view.
To get the slideshow out of iPhoto you export it.

  • Can you email iPhoto Calendars?

I am a professional photographer who occasionally uses iPhoto to create calendars for clients use. I have been VERY IMPRESSED by the quality of these calendars and wish to begin using them as another marketing tool. Sadly most of my clients do not use Macs so I haven't been able to include their input while editing images for the calendara. I know that when you design the calendar in iPhoto and send it to Apple for production that the file you send goes as a pdf. Is there any way for me to gain access to this pdf file so that I could email calendar mockups to my clients before having the calendar printed?
    Thanks!

    Keith,
Thanks so much! I knew I'd found a way to do this back when I used iPhoto on a regular basis but couldn't for the life of me remember what it was. In the end I guess it's just common sense...something I find more and more in absence in my brain as I get older and older...
    thanks,

  • Unable to email iPhotos - v7.1.3 (364)

I have had a number of problems ever since I agreed to place all of my photos in iPhoto. Previously I had a separate copy of the photos and then the iPhoto library link. To save space on my laptop I followed the instructions and iPhoto compressed the files.
I am unable to enlarge or edit the files in iPhoto. I am unable to export the files from iPhoto and now I am unable to email the pictures.
Any suggestions? The Mail icon pops up after I have selected the photos I want to email and then it closes, another window pops up so briefly I have no idea what it says and then nothing. There are no draft emails waiting for me in Apple Mail, nothing.

    HCRX
iPhoto simply copies the photos to the library on import. It does not compress them in any way.
I am unable to enlarge or edit the files in iPhoto. I am unable to export the files from iPhoto and now I am unable to email the pictures.
This sounds like the actual photos are not available to iPhoto. How did go about changing from a managed to a referenced library?
Select any of the affected pics in the iPhoto Window and Right Click on it. From the resulting menu choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will open. It should have the actual file selected. Does it?

  • When preparing email IPhoto 11 converts images to gneric RGB profile

I like the new email features in iPhoto '11 ver 9.1.1. The one thing that bothers me is the way some images are converted to the "generic RGB profile." Why not leave them alone in their initial profiles like sRGB or Adobe RGB. If I am sending "Actual" attachments the initial profiles are retained. The problem arises with the smaller attachment sizes.
    BTW Aperture does not convert...

I'm unable to duplicate your issue. Are you using the new iPhoto 11 email capability?
Try the following: delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    Launch iPhoto and try again.

  • Title problem when emailing iPhoto photos via Entourage

    Hi,
I have been attempting to email photos from iPhoto with the title that i have given the photo (not just the random one assigned by my camera). However, whenever i select a photo and share it via email it always assigns the original title like p111110. instead of holidayphoto. for example. This occurs whether title and comment boxes are ticked or not. Does anyone have any idea as i would like to send out photos with informative titles so my friends have a clue what they are looking at.
    Thanks in advance

You're confusing the Title with the Filename. They are not the same thing. The title is an entry in the IPTC metadata that is understood by any photo app on any system. If you want to use the Title as a filename then file -> Export and check out the option to use the Title as a filename in the resulting dialogue.

  • When emailing iPhoto 6 pics.... can't open pics on windows machine???

I'm trying to email pictures from iPhoto 6 and when I send them to people who have windows machines the pics are not sent as attachments. You can only view them, can't save them or anything. If you right click on them (on the windows machine) to save them, it says the files don't exist???? How can you send pictures from iPhoto 6 to a windows machine that is an jpeg attachment? I do have Apple Mail set to send windows compatible emails. Please help!

This is an issue with Mail rather than iPhoto. When you add the pics to a Mail message it sends them as rft or Rich Text Format messages. Send the message as Plain Text and the attachments will behave as expected. The option to Make Plain text is under the Format menu is Mail.

  • How to email iphoto videos

Tried to export .MOV video to directory using the file export tab and setting to Original option. It seemed successful. Where can I find what I exported? No where to be found...

I was able to find the exported file but only when I tried emailing them. Unfortuately, the size of the videos seem to be too large and cannot be sent.

  • Email iphoto 06

Can anyone tell me what the Email pixtel setting range on the pop up menu are for small, medium, large and full size JPEG's?
When I Email to certain web sites they only accept JPEG's that are a certain size.
    Thanks
    Oldeblu

The small size is 320x240. Medium is 640x480. Large is 1280x960.
If you have cropped your image, these sizes will vary within the scale of the crop.

..."The email server didn’t recognize your username/password combination."

had previously been able to share photos from iphoto via email.  Did not change any settings and cant do so now.
    Help

When I try to share photos via email, iPhoto says the server does not recognize the username/password combination.
Use your iCloud Mail account, when mailing from iPhoto and not email or similar. Sending using iPhoto as Mail client is more robust, if the send "From" in the outgoing mail is set to your iCloud account.

  • Iphoto ( sharing via email )

When I try to share a phot via email, iphoto still has old mail server details , even although i previously updated them in email preferences, how do i fix this ?

When I try to do this through the SHARE option in iPhoto I get the following error message.   Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this?  I am on the latest version of iPhoto 9.6.1.  Thanks for any insight / help.
If recreating the account does not help, the reason may be two-step verification. Did you recently enable two-step verification for iCloud?
Are you sending from your iCloud Mail address?
If you had two-step verification enabled, you have to set up an app-specific password for iPhoto, if you want to use iPhoto as a Mail client.
    See the post below:
Re: I am using iPhoto version 9.6 and I can no longer get an email sent with a photo attached. I get an error message saying the email did not go through because the server did not reply. I can send the photo with Mail. Help!in response to Gary Kissler
This solution is for those of you using 2-step verification for your Apple ID and are using iCloud as the mail server that you are trying to mail photos with.
I too had this issue. The problem in my case occurred because I had setup 2-step authentication for my Apple ID. If you have done this then you will get the error message "the mail server did not recognize your email/password...". To solve the problem go to:
    https://appleid.apple.com
    Click "Manage Your Apple ID"
Verify your identity with the device you selected (if this step does not show up then you have not likely set up 2-step authentication and this is not your solution)
Click Password and Security in the left column
    Click Generate an app-specific password
Enter iPhoto as the name of the app
Copy the password and paste this into the password box in iPhoto where you would normally enter your apple ID (in the mail account section in iPhoto preferences).
    And...voila' (I hope)

  • Emailing in iPhoto

I have been happily emailing iPhotos which have been delightfully popping up into Mail, but it suddenly stopped exporting into Mail although it appears to go through all the processes in Mail Photo. What has happened? I'm on a Mac. thx.

It sounds like iPhoto no longer knows where Mail is
located but "why" is beyond me. I would try the
    following:
    1) Go into prefs and change from Mail to something
else. Get out of prefs and back in and then change
    back to Mail.
    2) Repair permissions from Disk Utility.
    3) Boot from your load CD and Repair Disk.
    4) Run DiskWarrior. It's not a freebie but it has
    done wonders for me.

What a lovely guru you are!!
Did the changes in prefs which worked at first, but had to keep changing back.... Went to Disk Utility and repaired stuff in the hard drive, although the Photo HD and Archive Storage Drive were fine (although the ASD has now disappeared from my desk top into everneverland)(?) and things seem to be okay....... BUT..... the several pictures from one batch in iPhoto (the Sacre Coeur in Paris) do not want to be emailed, back to the same problem. If I want to email other pix, it works fine...
Didn't do DiskWarrior as it is hiding somewhere in the basement as I haven't used it from three moves in two years.
So, other than the sacred pix, and the disappearing act, things are much better!
    Thank you!
