Emailing photo and IP address automatically?

I'm looking for an application that will automatically email me, at regular intervals, a photo from my iSight camera and the IP address (or whatever else can be used to track a stolen laptop).
I'm hoping to find a free or very cheap program that will do this. I tried iAlertU but it doesn't seem to work unless you arm it every time you leave your computer, which is a pain. Can anyone recommend a program like that? Thanks!
(I'm probably FarFinder, which has a lot of other features too and lets you take photos, but I don't know if there's a way to use it to get the IP address or other location info, or a way to make it send them automatically.)

you can try this
http://www.gadgettrak.com/products/mac/
or this

Just keep in mind that most thieves immediately reformat stolen computers so whatever program you use will most likely be ineffective if your computer is actually stolen.

  • Will I lose my email folders and contacts addresse...

Will I lose my email folders and contacts addresses ???
Just this week changed from Talk Talk /toucansurf to a BT broadband and phone service.
I can access my emails ie receive and send from my new BT yahoo account and have good connection to the internet
    BUT
Before I totally cancel my  Talk Talk account I need to know whether the
    1)existing emails in my inbox
    2) the emails that are stored in folders I have created
    3) and my contacts address book
will disappear when I make the full switch ????
    Thanks
Sorry, think I posted this in another area too as was unsure)
(once this question is answered I need to ask another but this one is more important - cheers)
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You should be able to export your contacts to a file, then import them to your BT account. As for folders, if they are stored within the Windows Live program, they you should be able to save the contents.
If they are stored on a remote server, and you access them by webmail, then you may lose them unless you use an IMAP account to duplicate the folders on your computer, where you can save the contents.
Really this is an issue you need to ask about here http://www.talktalkmembers.com/forums/
as they are more likely to know how their email servers work.
There are some useful help pages here, for BT Broadband customers only, on my personal website.

  • Best way to email photos and text together in an email without attachment.

Just curious everyone, I notice that you can use text edit, and drag photos in, but when you try to attach something as an rtfd. file, it doesn't work. Atleast in hotmail and gmail atleast.
What then, is another good way to compose a few photos with text to quickly email??
What I did was go straight to text edit when I had the idea.
I took a few photos, and uploaded them and edited them to text edit, I worked on the text and made a nice little piece.
But it ...yeah, you know....I have this feeling that there is a much faster and more convenient way to do this.
Thanks everyone. HOpe that makes sense.
    cheers.

  • Unable to email photos and .pdfs

    help!
I am unable to email photos from iPhoto, .pdfs, and photos others forward to me from Mail.
I have tried repairing permissions, moving the mail out to the hard drive and reopening, cursing, and other ineffectual things.
The photos and documents will email successfully from other computers using Mail .
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi Nancy
so you set up a new user in system prefs- accounts? - not just a new mail account, right?
well hopefully the problem lies within your mail preferences file - do the following ( carefully!) to force mail to rebuild it, yet retain your messages. Your display settings will need setting again, but messages & rules should remain. You'll backup your mail first, so if anything goes wrong, you can get right back to where you are now.
If you have more than one or two mail accounts ( the account details will all need entering again) - you might look for an alternative fix before doing this.
Make sure you have a note of your mail account(s) details - incoming/outgoing servers, password, username etc . ( I guess you're ok with this, having set up a new user?).
    Quit Mail
    In Finder, navigate to home/library
locate the 'Mail' folder & alt-drag a copy to the desktop ( a green + sign should show that you're making a copy; not moving the original.
locate the file 'com.apple.mail.plist' in home/library/preferences. Drag this file to the desktop ( no alt this time - you want to move the original).
Open mail - you'll be asked for your account details - enter them exactly as they were before.
set up extra accounts when prompted ( if you had more than one)
You should find all your mail & mailboxes are there - open a few emails just to be certain.
Before changing any mail display/layout settings - test mail to see if your problem is fixed now.
If it's working fine - you've finished & the .plist file you moved to the desktop can be trashed.
I would advise keeping the copy of the Mail folder somewhere safe, & making a new copy as often as you like - preferably on another drive or CD/DVD disk. Then if Mail or your HD go nutso - it's possible to get all your mail back.
Let me know if this works - either way I'll make another post so you know how to restore your mail folder & settings if it didn't work, or if one day you need to use the backup to recover your mail & settings.

  • Alerts from BPM Email Subject and From address should be changed.

    Hi All,
I'm raising an alert from BPM by using Container operation  and Control steps.
The below details are appearing in the Email. Is there any way to change these standard steps... ?
    From:     WF-BATCH at K.local
    To:         SAPSupport at k.com
    Subject:  Process 000000021589
    Alert ID:   ##00010##
    I want to change the
    - Subject name with my own subject line.
    - From address should be changed to it.helpdesk at k.com instead of WF-BATCH at k.com
    - I checked in some of the threads, looks like there is limitation in terms of characters in the Email body(127 characters)? Is there anything I can do to extend the email body?
    Kindly suggest me.
    Thanks
    Deepthi

    Hi Baskar,
// You can pretty much change the subject title and recipient information easily. Click on fixed recipients to modify mail address.
Recipients list is fine. I can change. How about the Sender Email address?
Ex:  WF-BATCH.. Since the errors are generated from BPM, the sender userid will be always WF-BATCH.
I want to change this user id into my custom user id.. is it possible?
    2. Also I enabled Dynamic Text in alert category which is used to get the dynamic text from mapping.. Hence i cannot use Short and Long texts tab in Alert Category to generate the subject line.
Hence Subject line is coming with process ID, looks like I cannot change?
    Thanks

  • Receiving Email Photos and Dragging to iPhoto

When I get an email with photos I want to save, I drag the photos to my iPhoto icon. It imports fine as a new film roll. However, when I right-click on a photo to "Show File", the location is some temporary spot such as: TemporaryItems/com.apple.mail.drag-T0x40a790.tmp.SWkEGJ/photo.jpg.
Why doesn't it place it my permanent folders such as when I import from my camera?
Should I worry about this? Will they be deleted since they are in a temp folder?
    Thank you!

You don't want the photo to be in a temporary file. It should be in your originals file in your iPhoto library.
Whenever you put a photo into iPhoto you should let iPhoto import it rather than you dragging it in. Drag your photo out of the e-mail to your desktop. Then open iPhoto and go to File/Import to Library. Desktop should be indicated in the drop down menu window, and the import window will list the items on your desktop, including your photo. Select the photo from the list and click on import. The photo will then be imported into your iPhoto library, where you want it.
    Hope this helps.

  • Emailing photos doesnt use address book..

When I want to email a photo to my family, how do I get it to choose the group 'famly' from the address book. iphoto knows the individual email addresses, but not the group. Does it have its own memory of addresses, or does it use the mac address book..

    iPhoto doesn't recognize groups.
    Consider using Mail instead.

  • Emailing Photos in Iphoto '11 (emails prepopulating)

What type of computer do the people having problems have?
One guy has a Mac  --  if that the only person who has had a problem? Has he had the problem multiple times or only once? What e-mail client does he use?
on a given e-mail have you ever had some able to open the photo and others not?
To upgrade to 9.2.3 if you have an older Mac and got software restore disks with it use software update - it you have a newer Mac and get your software from the App store log into to the App store using the Apple ID you registered the computer with and look under purchased apps for updates - download and install from there
    and again
IMHO the best solution is to quity using iPhoto to email photos and use Apple mail - set it as teh iPhoto e-mail client in the iPhoto preferences

  • Is it possible that my iCloud account (email's and icloud's) has different password?

If I have account create for email address [email protected] and there is automatically created [email protected], is it possible that they have different passwords?

The login and password for your iCloud mail is the same as for your iCloud account; when you sign into the iCloud account in Setting>iCloud and enable Mail there, the Mail app should automatically be set up for your iCloud mail.
Of course though [email protected] may be the login for iCloud, accessing actual mail set to that address requires the login and password for that account, not iCloud.

    No.

  • LOST MY SETTINGS, PREFERENCES, EMAIL, PHOTOS, ETC. - HELP!!

Last night my computer was acting funny. So I restarted it. When I logged back into my account the first thing I noticed is that my Dock was back to it's default setting. Then I noticed the email was back to default, iPhoto, iTunes all back to default and all missing the files.
All my email is gone but all my applications, third-party software and files are still there. So I'm guessing my admin settings are gone.
After looking through the forum, I noticed that when this happens, it's usually because the HOME name has changed. This is not the case with me. The HOME name has not changed. What could be the reason for this loss?? How can I get all my settings, emails, photos and music back?? Will something like Disk Warrior fix this? (BTW, I'm not doing anything with the computer until I get some kind of feedback).
Thank You for your help in advance!

LESSON LEARNED. I Actually have a brand-spankin' new, unopened, still shrinkwrapped box of "Retrospect Backup" sitting right in front of me. I bought it six months ago.
Wow, how things could have been different if I had used it.
The full details of this nightmare are posted at:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1070313&tstart=0
I still refuse to believe I lost all these files. This has to do with the library or permissions in some way.

    Allen
Well the permissions on your Library folder aren't right, and where are your Movies, Music, Public and Sites folders?
If we fix your Library permissions, you may possibly find a few things get better, so do that (copy and paste again):
chmod 770 ~/Libraryalthough there may be further problems inside that folder.
I should have asked for more information, since I didn't realise that
    The original home name is PowerMac2 … "PowerMac2b", "PowerMac3", "PowerMac2_new" and "PowerMac2c" are all users I made
According to your output your user name should be PowerMac. I think we'll need to resort to Terminal again to find out exactly what you've done.
Open the Terminal (from /Applications/Utilities) and copy and paste the following into the Terminal window, one line at a time, with a return after each line:
    id
    ls -ln /Users
nireport . /users uid gid name realname home | awk '$1>500 {print $0}'Copy and paste all of the output (include your commands) and post it here.
If you have any idea what happened to those missing folders, say so.
