Emailing photos from iPhoto 09 via Mail always produces same photo size

I'm trying to email photos from iPhoto 09 using the Email button. No matter what photo size I choose (Small, Medium, Large, Actual Size) in the subsequent compose dialogue the resulting email always shows a small embedded photo. Any tips?

1. You did not get an error message telling you that your iPhoto library was getting full. You got a message telling you that your HD was getting full, right?
OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on.
Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially.
Your first priority is to make more space on that HD. Nothing else can be done until you do.
Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk.
Your Library has been damaged from being run on an overfull disk.

Je cree un dossier sur le bureau et glisse les photos à partir d'Iphoto dans ce dossier. Ce geste a pour effet de creer des copies dans le dossier.
Il ne reste plus qu'à selectionner ces photos pour les envoyer en pièces jointes.

Mailing photos from iphoto through mail

When I mail photos from iphoto through mail, it sends the picture at very low resolution regardless of the setting I choose (small, medium, large, actual). How can I send photos to others at viewing or even printing quality? Can I resize the pictures to my specifications as I used to be able to do on my PC? Through ACDSee I could resize to 50% which would be small enough to send quickly but still high enough quality for the recipients to view and even print. Thanks!

After iPhoto has created a new Mail message have a look at the bottom right hand corner of the Mail Message window - there's another control there for sizing the pics... try play with that one to find the size you require.
You can access your photos for sending in Mail too. In the New Mail Message Window there's an icon on the toolbar that will show you your iPhoto library.

UNABLE TO SEND PHOTOS FROM IPHOTO VIA EMAIL

I have OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.3, and IPhoto 11. Until recently I have been able to share pictures via email directly from IPhoto. All of a sudden I get the error message "username and password not recognized." I have Verizon FIOS. I tried all of the suggestions in previous discussion and none seem to work. I tried changing the ports suggested. deleting and reentering all the pertinent data, checking and unchecking SSL The port on my email account is 110 and on IPhoto it is 587. I tried matching them but nothing seems to work. The user name and password have not changed and I know them. I have doubled check everything I can think of. I think it worked fine before IPhoto 11. It has just changed all of a sudden. I am really flabbergasted. Please help.

Since you've tried all the fixes already what's left is to set Mail as your email client in iPhoto's General preference pane and use it. If you want fancy layouts you can use the photo stationary layouts that are available in Mail:
Using Mail as your client will also give you a Sent copy.

I'm having a similar issue I think - in iPhoto I select an image then hit Share then select email and it pops open an email for the address to be entered but the contents are blank, sending the email arrives blank - same thing sobersue ?
If so I've logged a bug report with Apple Techs about it ...

Can't send more than 1 photo from iPhoto to Mail since upgraded to Leopard

I'm using an older version of iPhoto (4.0.3). We recently upgraded to Leopard, and ever since then, we haven't been able to use the Email icon in iPhoto to attach photos in Mail. It prepares to send all the photos, but only attaches one to a message, and then I get an error message saying, "Mail got an error: Can't get paragraph 8 of content of outgoing message id (a long number). Invalid index."
Does anybody have any idea as to what's going on here? It's very frustrating!!!

Um, you seem to be contradicting yourself, so I have no idea what you're talking about.
As I already said, I DON'T NEED to take the extra step of exporting the photos into a folder, as I AM selecting and dragging the images directly from iPhoto into Mail.

iPhoto 11 no longer uses an application for sending emails. It creates the emails and sends them itself when you supply your account details.
So, no, you can't set Outlook (or anything else) as a default Email client in 11.
FYI: iPhoto 11 works with email in a new way. Rather than using an Application to send the email as before, what they have done is handle the email within iPhoto. So, you input your Email Account details - the name of your service, the account name, password, etc, and iPhoto uses that information to send the email via your account.
There's an element of swings and roundabouts in this.
Users of Apps like Thunderbird or Postbox could not email from within iPhoto in the past as those apps are not scriptable. Neither could it be used by people who use Web Mail and access their mail via a web browser. By going this way these people users have the same service as Mail/Entourage/Eudora users have.
So much for the swings: on the roundabouts, however, users of Mail (and I suspect Entourage and Eudora) have a change. Share -> Email does not work as before and you can no longer select pics within iPhoto, resize them and pass them over to their preferred application. Neither can you send photos without a Template.
However, by creating a Service sing Automator, it's perfectly possible to recreate the previous usage, though accessed a little differently. Here's one way:
1. Launch Automator
2. From the Dropdown sheet select to make a Service
3. On the Right hand side, over the large pane (under the record button) select 'Service Receives +no input+'

3. From the Library Column (extreme left) click on Photos.
4. From the Middle Column drag 'Get Selected iPhoto Items to the large pane.
5. In the drop down on 'Get Selected Photo Items, select 'Photos'

6. Back to the Library column, extreme left and this time click on Mail
7. Drag 'New Mail Message' to the right hand pane, under the existing 'Get iPhoto Items'
8. Drag 'Add Attachments to Front Message' under that.
9. Save it, Name it.
Now, in iPhoto select the photos you want to email
then
iPhoto Menu -> Services -> And select the Service you created.
The Mail app comes forward with your Message, with files attached.
You can resize the Photos using the option at lower right of the Mail window:

Using the Keyboard Shortcuts in System Preferences you can choose a key command to do the whole thing from the keyboard.
I have looked at the Automator commands provided for Outlook and it seems like you could do a similar job for it - though I don't know if it will have the ability to resize the images.

I am unable to send photos from iphoto via email as an attachment to be downloaded onto another computer. i thought e-mail would automatically pick up these photos if mailed out so they could be downloaded.

At one time I was able to send photos from i photo library and I assumed the receiver could open these and download them into their apple computer (family).
I have tried to send photos from library or folder as attachment but I am also unable to do this. How do I send pictures as e-mail attachments which can be opened up and downloaded to another computer?

I've managed to sort out my own problem!! Shall write it down in case there are others out there who have a similar problem. With iPhoto open, click on iPhoto on the top menu bar. Click on preferences. Then click on account. This let me change the details such as the user name and password. Luckily I played around with a couple of my usual passwords, and found one that worked. Have now written it down!!!!

How do I get photos from iPhoto via Time Machine?

I have iPhoto '09 version 8.1.2 and am unable to find my photos through Time Machine. I tried following the previous discussions on how to do this but I did not find a Master's folder when searching on package contents after right clicking on iPhoto in Time Machine.
I accidentally deleted some photos in iPhoto the other night and was hoping that I could easily retreieve them from my Time Machine Back-ups but this is not the case. Where the heck are the iPhotos photos stored? I have a MacBookPro running version 10.8.5.

I only need to retrieve a few photos...not the entire library. Where is the master's folder located, specifically? I was unable to find it and I looked very thoroughly through all of the folders.

How can I get Iphoto mailed picture mails to appear in my 'Sent" box?

I'm with you on this. iPhoto has improved since iLife11 first came out, but this is still a weakness. When I think I have sent some pictures to someone, but they claim they didn't get them, I'd like to go to the Sent folder, confirm that they were sent, then resend if necessary.
If I sent the picture to myself, then forward to the intended addressee, when I try to clean up the mail getting rid of the forwarding info, I seem to lose any attached photos. I know that there was a .zip file attached to the original, but it doesn't seem to go along with the forwarded copy.

Emailing documents from Pages via Mail/Gmail?

I'm having a strange problem with the new version of Pages and Apple Mail. When I try to attach a Pages 5.0 file, sending the emal fails with an error message, "Cannot Send Mail. Sending the message content to the server failed." This happens whether I use the "share" button or drag the document into the message.
If I drag a document created with the older verison of Pages, it works just fine.
And if I use another mail client to send the file, with the same GMail account, it also works fine.
Any thoughts?

The new Pages 5 format is an odd compressed bundle, which is being misread by most non-Apple servers.
The answer is probably the same as for all the long list of problems and ommissions in Pages 5:
Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Archive/trash Pages 5, after Exporting your files to Pages '09, and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

Imovies - how do I seperate the videos from the photos. My library has bundled them all together from iphoto

One way I was able to do this, was to make a Smart Album in iPhoto, with the rule of showing just the movie files. This will work, once you know what format the movie files are in.
In iPhoto, select one of your movies, and right click it. Look for the option: "Reveal in Finder" or "Show in Finder" (this depends on the version of iPhoto).
Once you see the file, look for the three letters AFTER the period. Like this:
.mov (QuickTime movie)
.avi (Uncompressed Windows Video)
.mpg (MPEG video)
Back in iPhoto, when you make your Smart Album, set it up like this:
Once you have it set like this, press RETURN (or click "Ok").
What you'll see is all the videos that have that file extension (.mov, .avi, .mpg, etc.) listed. Now the nice thing is this: Every new movie you add to iPhoto will automatically get listed here, regardless of where in iPhoto they live!
Integration with iMovie:
By making this album in iPhoto, when you get to iMovie, you'll be able to see the movies when you select your Videos Smart Album.
I hope this helps you out. They have iPhoto and iMovie workshops at Apple Stores that cover this too. They're free, and you can learn a lot.
