Emailing ppt file with xcelsius dashboard - need advice

We have created a live connection to our xcelsius dashboards via LiveOffice, and we use it to load client-specific data into templated charts.  We would like to email the pre-loaded powerpoint dashboards to clients and initially planned on using the "Save Scenario" function until we realized that this loaded/saved data is only available locally.
Any workarounds for loading data, saving, and then emailing to an end-user who is unable to connect to BOE?
Thanks.

Hans,
Here is what you can do:
-->Run the dahboard in preview mode
>then goto FileSnapshot-->Current Excel data
-->Save the file
-->Import the saved excel file back into your existing dashboard. (Perhaps you can save (""Save as") your original dashboard and then make changes to the new one)
-->Export the file to PPT
--> Now you will be able to share the dashboard with your end users
P.S. You can remove live office connections configured in the data manager from the New dashboard.
Hope this helps...

  • How to connect Already created WebI reports with Xcelsius Dashboards

    HI Experts,
My requirement it to bring data from already in use WebI reports to a consolidated Dashboard. I am aware of connecting universe with Dashboard with the help of QaaWS.
Is there is any other way that we can connect our dashboard?
We are thinking to publish those dashboards on the SAP Enterprise BI Portal.
    Thanks in advance!!!
    Edited by: BIBO_Apprentice on Aug 13, 2011 7:40 AM

    Hi,
One can connect WebI reports with Xcelsius dashboards in 3 ways:
    1. Using QaaWS : connects universe with Dashboard. Dashboard uses the WSDL link to get data that works on SOAP (that works on exchanging web structures).
    2. Using Live Office Connection: With the help of Live Office one can connect the WebI reports directly. One can take advantage of the scheduled instances of the WebI reports. So it is good for time consuming reports.
    3. Using BI Web Services: Here custom web services are created of intended report instances. Publication is done from CMS side.
after that WSDL is used as any other web services.
Get back if you need any further clarification.

  • Error in PPT after exporting Xcelsius dashboard

I exported a Xcelsius dashboard into a MS Power Point. If tried to open in the same sytem it is working fine.
if tried to open in some other system, I am getting the following error.
"Some controls in this presentation can't be activated. They might not be registered in this computer."
The version of the flash player in the system the PPT was created and the system in which we tried to view is 9.0.115.0
Please suggest a solution to resolve this problem.

    > 9.0.115.0
This is the version of Flash Player?
I'm not an expert on this but it sounds like security settings. When I export to ppt, the notes section of the slide generate has this text describing the security settings:
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT XCELSIUS CONTENT EMBEDDED INTO THIS SLIDE - PLEASE READ ON IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING DIFFICULTIES!
This PowerPoint slide has Xcelsius content embedded into it and certain restrictions apply:
1). Information message shown when you open this slide deck: "Some controls on this presentation canu2019t be activated. They might not be registered on this computer".
You need the latest Adobe Flash Player on your machine to view the embedded Xcelsius content:
a). Close PowerPoint - make sure you DO NOT SAVE this slide deck.
b). Using Internet Explorer install the latest Adobe Flash Player from adobe.com
c). Open this PowerPoint slide deck again.
2). A design-time thumbnail is not shown for the Xcelsius content when you open this slide deck until you enter and exit Slide Show mode.
3). Office 2007 files (.pptx) do not support Xcelsius embedded content - save as an Office 2003 file (.ppt) instead.
For more information refer to the Export to Microsoft Word 2007 and PowerPoint 2007 section in the Xcelsius release notes.
4). The Xcelsius visualization shows error code messages (#2048, etc).
Flash security restrictions have prevented the embedded Xcelsius content from accessing external data.
To allow the Xcelsius embedded content to access external data refer to the Adobe Flash Player - Security Issues section in the Xcelsius release notes.
Note: To allow embedded Xcelsius content in a PowerPoint slide you have to add POWERPNT.EXE as a trusted Adobe Flash application:
              Office 2003 path example -  C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\POWERPNT.EXE
              Office 2007 path example -  C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\POWERPNT.EXE

  • Publishing narrated PPT files with Presenter

I work for a large department that is producing more and more narrated PPT presentations to post on our company intranet.  I'm the only one who has Presenter, and in trying to keep the instructions simple, the process we've been using requires a USB microphone and the narrating feature in PPT.  Basically, I extract the audio files from the PPT document, and package the whole thing together in Presenter. This worked well the first couple of times, but for whatever reason, it's turning into a lot of work for me. I'm going to have to come up with a better process, one that is easy and cheap (ie, free) for the users, but also pain-free for me.
What happens is that I save the PPT file as a web page, which extracts the audio files into separate .wav files, 1 for each slide. In a perfect world, the .wav files end up being named sound1, sound 2, sound 3 (for PPT slide 1, 2, and 3 respectively)... I think the only time that works cleanly is when the narrator does it right the first time, with no mistakes. But lately, every single file I've received ends up with sound files that are not sequentially numbered. Like I could end up with sound17, sound26, and sound128, and 128 might go with slide 5, and sound 17 might go with slide 30... It's bizarre! And since no one includes Notes in their PPT presentation (which will be a requirement in the new process), I end up having to listen to each recording in the original file and write down the first few words, so that I know which sound file goes with which slide!!
So... I'm working on developing a new Best Practice for this process, and the preferred method will be providing me with a PPT presentation (complete with Notes) and separate audio files that I can import using Presenter. I'm having a hard time selling my team on this, because the PPT narration system we had set up was so easy to use and easy to show our users, no one had to use unfamiliar software, no purchases were necessary. Now I'm saying that, while it's still free and nothing needs to be purchased, recording narration will have to be done using Windows Sound Recorder, or better yet, Audacity. Which means a whole new set of instructions, that for some of these folks around here may be difficult to grasp. But the sound quality would be better, and the time and effort required by me would be greatly reduced.
I've search all over the intranet with no luck, I was hoping to find an already established process for doing this that I could "borrow" from... does anyone have any advice, words of wisdom, expert opinion, etc??

You may get better Presenter responses in, surprisngly, the Connect forum...as Presenter seems to be more a subset of that tool than a standalone one.
While we actually have Presenter here, I've only used it once!
We also have Captivate and that's a more-frequent 'go to' tool for us than Presenter.
So the overall issue is, you can't convert PPTs that include audio with Presenter? The audio doesn't work or otherwise come through?
Are you SURE there's no way to do that? That you HAVE to separate out the audio first?
I'm almost certain that if you convert a PPT that contains audio with Captivate that the resulting Captivate file will not only retain the audio but keep in sync'd up with the related slides. It's certainly worth grabbing the trial version of Captivate to confirm that.
If CP doesn't do it for some reason, then surely Articulate Presenter would?
There are so many PPT conversion tools out there, one of them has to be an option to avoid the issue you're having.
So first, be sure Presenter is really limited the way it seems to be. If it is, try Captivate. Far better to get a more capable tool, I think, then try to disrupt an established process (as long as that process is worthwhile and effective, of course).

  • Doc Project with format confusion- need advice

I have a documentary project with a plethora of footage formats because the doc spans a long length of time and different project collaborators. We just shot more footage and I don't want to move forward converting the new footage until I know the best path to take form here on out. please advise.
    Here is the info.
Below i'm listing the descritption of footage, the format, and the % I'm predicting it will be used in the final edit of the documentary I'm working on.
Archival Footage: DV NTSC 720x480 (10%)
Original footage shot: DV NTSC 720x480 anamorphic (40%)
Additional Footage shot in Summer 2010 with Panasonic HVX200: DVCPRO HD 720p60 29.97 (35% shared with canon 7D footage listed below)
Additional Footage shot in Summer 2010 with Canon 7D: shot 1920x1080 23.98 Apple Pro Res 422, pixel aspect square. I converted this footage to 720p60 29.97 to match the Panasonic footage but I still have the original files saved. (35% shared with hvx200 footage listed above)
New Footage shot with Canon 7D: 1920x1080 23.98 Apple Pro Res 422, pixel aspect square (15%)
    Timelines:
    - I edit the SD footage in timelines with SD sequence settings matching the format of the footage
    - I edit the HD footage in timelines with DVCPRO HD sequence settings matching the format of the footage
    - when footage of both formats ends up in one 'scene' the timeline is DV NTSC 720x480
    - when I output a rough cut, I nested sequences and output DV NTSC 720x480
I have not converted the new footage yet and before I do convert it and then transform continue editing, I feel I need to re-evauluate how I'm approaching the multi-format situation.  I need advice about the best path to take from here on out. WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
Should I upconvert the SD footage and do everything HD from now on? The final cut will probably be 50% SD and 50% HD with possibly more HD than SD.
If I do upconvert and go HD, is 720p60 29.97 the best format for me to use considering my footage sources? If you have any ideas, please also explain how you might go about carrying them out.
    Thank you!

Exactly, whic is why I'm seeking advice. the final delivery will be film festival screenings and hopefully broadcast, and considering the channels today that = HD.
That's not a final decision at all, that's a series of delivery options. You must produce your project in the highest resolution for which you have space, codecs and techniucal competency. You will save that as the "final" but I'd not call it that since nothing is ever finalized. Jsut keep naming the versions. Then you will open the full rez version and use any of several conversion or compresiona apps to satisfy all other distribution needs.
The omst flexible will be a 1080/60 format but that decision will cost you tons of conversion time, lots of space, and will require many stylistic decisions along the way.
That's what I would do but I'm not you and I'm not your client.

  • Exchanging ppt files with PC - graphics issues

I often exchange PowerPoint files with my PC-using co-workers. In the files they send me, some graphics appear as solid black boxes. In the files I send to them, some graphics appear as solid white boxes.
They have tried copy/paste and insert graphics, but we still get inconsistent results using both methods. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
How can we avoid this problem? Any ideas?
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

To iFelix - Most of the graphics are jpg files. The latest twist is that my co-workers get a message that they need quicktime in order to view the graphics in my ppt files - even though they are not movies - just still jpgs.
To Stephen - It turns out that my company has some additional security layers that would have to be peeled away in order for me to make a vpn connection from my Mac and they're not willing to do that. At least, that's what their PC IT geniuses tell me My solution is to make the vpn connection from Virtual PC. My need for the vpn connection is very infrequent, so it's not a big deal. It would be a hassle and very slow if you needed to work on a vpn daily.

  • Day 2 with ATV, may need advice.

iPhoNettie wrote:Apple Genius-tried syncing thru ethernet cable
I need to know if this is possible with ethernet cable only between ATV/MacPro vs Airport wireless.
I've spent hours with this 32gb ATV to just load and it's been nothing but long hours.
One trick that will not work.
Macpro is mainly using ethernet cable to the wireless access 24/7.
    I leave his airport off.
I'm on day two of the first attempt at using ATV, it has been sitting for a year never used.
This all started yesterday with a members advice using ATP, vs iPhone connected to RXv3900.
    What a Great iDea.
I turned Airport on the MacPro. Not sure why I did. In the end, you need to.
Plug in ATV, and started in last night. Noticing it's Quite slow on Airport.
Discovered there is no real-time status of the load you checked/selected in iTunes to know if it's too much.
Sure enough at present, the 5th time of de-selecting is to make room again.
At 50 something, we have a set logic that's hardened.
If dishwasher is full & ready, do you unload/reload complete to add one item?
    Apparently Apple does.
There maybe an update that is needed.
It's not showing up by default or where to access if there is.
ATV finally finished with 8.5Gb free. I'll see if update is found.
Still very reluctant to do update with ATV actually working.
Getting to the chase here, can ATV & MacPro be direct linked w/ethernet cable?
One test I just tried while ATV was loading again, I shut Airport off on the MacPro.
ATV immediately disconnected from iTunes. Whoops.
My test was to see if ATV would still get through to Mac wirelessly by accessing wifi MacPro is wired to. Nope.
Is this telling me I don't need Comcast's wifi to connect the 2? ATV/MacPro only for loading ATV.
Can ATV connect it's path directly to MacPro's Airport? Skipping Comcast's wifi.
I guess my final question is/ can ATV connect to MacPro with only angry twisted copper wire?
Also, is there any advantage with MacPro on ethernet cable and Airport on at the same time?
I see no results either way.
I hope my versing is with some accuracy.
I'm not up on the latest politically correct lingo.
For sure of one thing, a 1Tb drive is on it's way for a new mission.
For the first time, I'm viewing trailers on ATV, and I have Airport shut off on MacPro.
This is good. I was afraid up to this point.
    Thanks'

    Alley_Cat wrote:
Yes they should provided you've registered the AppleTv to sync with iTunes on the Mac Pro account - do you remember setting AppleTV to connect to iTunes by entering a 5 digit code in iTunes from AppleTV?
Yes, I have performed all the loading of ATV by wireless from iTunes from the MacPro.
This simple ethernet connection should just work to sync from previous reports.
This will be great. The main reason is to take ATV to the cabin or shop with no internet access.
This should work if all you're doing is syncing and then putting the AppleTv back where you want to use it.
However, if you want to connect by ethernet all the time, then the direct connection to the Mac Pro will not allow AppleTV to access the internet for various store/photo/YouTube features or to authorise playback of some iTunes Store material/rentals etc, unless you've configured internet sharing over the Mac Pro ethernet port and the Mac Pro is connected to the internet either via it's other ethernet port or wireless.
Thank You, it's not a priority to access these features with ATV.
Your best bet is to have AppleTv connect to a router to see the internet itself and to see the Mac Pro on the local network.
Great, and I really appreciate your quick reply.
    Have a Great Day.

  • Export .air files with Xcelsius

    Hi all,
I want to start developing an adobe flex component.
I am trying to export the dashboard on the .air file, but the export u201CAiru201D option is disabled in Xcelsius. I already change the sdk Xcelsius file to u201CC:\Program Files\Adobe\Flex Builder 3\sdks\3.2.0u201D.
I donu2019t know if I have the correct software versions:
    - Xcelisus 2008 5.3.0.0
    - Adobe Air 2.0.4
    - Adobe Felx Builder 3.0.2
    - JRE 6.0.210
All is running on Windows 7
    Thanks

Hi Matt, first of all thanks for your respond
Maybe I don´t explain the correct form about my Xcelsius version, I made the installation of service pack 5.3.3.0 over the version 5.3.0.0 that I already had on my computer, but after to install the service pack 5.3.3.0, Xcelisus version continues being 5.3.0.0
In the fact after install the service pack, in my desktop had been created Xcelsius Add-On Packager shortcut
I´m sure that I followed all the steps that are mentioned to install the service pack like administrator, because one of the consequences is every time that I open my Xcelsius appears one window asking the permission to execute the changes in the program.
About the license, I think it hasnu2019t issues because I made one test in other machine that has Windows Vista, and all option shows habilitated
    Thanks

  • How to email photoshop files with high resolution

I need to send a photoshop file that is resolution 300 but it keeps converting to 72 when I email it. How do I email it and keep the 300 resolution?

You can always resort to .zip compression application and send the .zip.
Also you can resort to a cloud service if the file is too large to send over email.
    Adobe CC for example https://creative.adobe.com/products/files
    Dropbox Dropbox
    or GDrive https://www.google.com/intl/en/drive/
    or OneDrive Microsoft OneDrive
Once uploaded to the cloud space share the url download url via email to the other person.

  • No Insert Flash dialog box in PPT files with links to Word

Presenter will not display the "Insert Flash (swf)" dialog box in PowerPoint presentations that have slides linked to a Word document.
It works fine in PPT presentations that do not have the links to Word.
I need to import a SWF in the presentation as well as have Word link to the slides in PPT.
    Is there a solution?

The solution was to install a later version of Presenter. It works now.

  • R3 to File with integration process- need help

    Hi all,
Can you please help me with the steps involved for the following scenario:
IDOC(R/3) to XI(integration mapping is done here) then to file.
I have selected  an idoc (MATMAS).
    I have created a business systems (R/3)
I want only few fields from R/3(MATMAS) to send to file. So, I do the mapping in integration process.
In the config, I don't know how to link this thro' integration process.
Can anyone please help me with the steps.
    I appreciate all your efforts.
    Thanks
    felix.

Felix, I can think of the foll. steps, try it and let know if it helps
    1) One receiver determination parameters -> BS1(R/3) - sender service , MATMAS - sender interface , receiver system - Integration Process(this integration process you will 've to import from Integration repository)
    2) Now you will create an interface determination for the above receiver determination , ere you will specify the Abstract interface(referred to, in ur container object in receive step of IP). Interface Mapping is not reqd , since MATMAS is received as MATMAS ere without any change.
    3) second receiver determination parameters -> Integration Process - sender service , Abstract interface used in the send step of IP - sender interface , receiver system - Business system/service that has the file commn. channel configured
    4) Now you will create an interface determination for step 3, ere you will specify the Asynchronous inbound interface used by the file adapter & the mapping program to be used(optional)
    5) Now you will create a receiver agreement to associate ur async inbnd interface with the Commn channel(file adapter).

  • Video files with transparent edges needed for menu.

    Hi,
I am making a DVD menu using a PSD as the main background. In this background is a television at an angle. I need to position a video clip so that it appears to be playing in the TV.
I have painstakingly angled the video footage in FCP to match the angle of the TV, but I am having problems with DVDSP recognising the transparency of the empty border area around the video.
If anybody can help it would be much appreciated. I have tried to read the manuals but they don't make enough sense for an amateur like me.
    Thanks
    JD

This certainly feels like it can be achieved, though you have to carefully follow the instructions on how your Photoshop layers are placed and named.
But I have a question, why not just put the Photoshop image on top of the video in FCP?

i am helping a friend with her images that have been saved on a disc as a .psd file, she would like to use her pse9 to view them but when i go to open the file i get this message in pse9 stating "this document uses unsupported color mode..." and then asks me to convert rgb and then the image looses the color. i have looked online for everything i can think of and still can not find an answer. do i have to open with an older adobe photoshop in which i think that was what it was orginally saved with or am i doing something wrong...these images are very important to her and i dont know much about these programs..please any help or suggestions would be nice..
                                                      Thank you

    midnight24,
In your initial post you stated that the files are .psd files.
We learn now that they were created in an alien program. So be it.
You state that you cannot open them due to ?corruption. Something about a video game, the relevance of which escapes me.
Suggest that you do the following:
Download Irfanview at www.irfanview.com. This is a free program which will probably open the files.
If so, save them via Irfanview, and open the newly saved files in PSE. Do this with a test file to be sure that it works.
    Report back with your progress.
