Emailing quiz results

First, I apologize; I posted this in General Discussion, when
I should have posted it here.
With that said, I created a demo using Captivate 1, and would
like to add a question slide at the end soliciting feedback from
the users. I don't have an LMS, so thought I could use email to
receive the results. Is there a way to receive the results so it
indicates what the user's actual response (i.e., disagree, somewhat
agree, yes, no, true, false) instead of a numerical value? Not sure
if it makes a difference, but internal mail system in Lotus Notes,
but the demo will be going to external users, who could use
anything for mail.
Thanks.

It works on mine.
Here's what comes through in the .att attachment.

  • Is it possible to email quiz results without the notification that an email is being sent?

I have created a captivate for use as a tutorial.  There are quiz slides spread throughout the captivate.  we are going to receive the results via email.  is it possible to set it so once they hit the button to send email that it automatically sends without the notification that an email is being sent?  currently the warning message pops up giving the option to allow or deny the content from being sent.  is there something in the settings that can be changed to just send it...possilbly like the HTML version?  any info would be helpful,.

    Hi there
Yes, it's possible to do. Perhaps the article linked below will help you figure out a method.

  • How do I include the quiz taker's name in the Quiz Results email?

I'm using Adobe Captivate 4. I want to include the quiz taker's name in the Quiz Results email. Is there to do this?

My experience with Captivate is minimal. Once again, the version that I am using is Captivate 4. I am not using an LMS. When someone takes a quiz and submits it, the email that I receive only contains the quiz ID and the test results themselves. I would like to be able to have the results include the user's name or at least his/her email address. Is their something that I can do with a variable to accomplish this? Or, is their some sort of third party widget available?
    Thanks Gene

  • How do I see email address (LearnerID) in Quiz Results Analyzer

    Useing Captivate 5.5
Reporting Quiz results to a local server.
Q: How can I see the "LearnerID" (students email address) in the Captivate Quiz Results Analyzer?
When the student clicks on "Post Results" and enters their name and email address in the pop-up window the email address is collected. You can see the email address (LearnerID) in the resulting XML file that's saved in the CaptivateResults folder.
Problem is I can't see the email address in the Analyzer, and don't see an option to include it. How can I see the "LearnerID" or the students email address in the Captivate Quiz Results Analyzer? From here I want to export a CSV file.

Thanks for your response. The quiz results analyzer is awesome, but without the display of email addresses it is not a total solution.
I'm using an internal server and what I found out is that the .xml file that Captivate creates in the CaptivateResults folder (that Captivate also creates) contains the email addresses.
So, rather than use the analyzer, I will have to figure out the best way to view email addresses from the xml file. If anyone has a solution that you are happy with, please let me know.

  • Quiz results not appearing in email body

Using Captivate 2, I set up a quiz that is supposed to send
its results to e-mail. In the Quiz Manager, on the Reporting tab, I
    have the following settings:
Enable resporting for this project (checked)
    LMS: email
Report Pass or Fail: report status as defined by report data
Choose report data: report quiz results and slide views
Report score to LMS as: score
Reporting Level: report interactions and the score
Then I publish my project. When I run the .htm, no e-mail is
generated. The only way I can get an email to generate at all, is
if I click on the Pass/Fail Options tab in the Quiz Manager, and
set "If passing grade:" action: send email to: (the email address).
This does generate an e-mail, but the body is blank, with no
results reported within (even though I specifiying that I want the
    data in the above settings).

I'm trying to do the same thing... having set up a small
quiz, a pass mark, and asking for an email to show the score only,
nothing is generated running it locally. But after uploading to my
server and running it from there I do in fact get an email. The
data is in an attachment POSTDATA.ATT which Windows doesn't know
how to open. But if you change the extension to csv then XL opens
it fine and reports as requested. The user is identified by the
    sender of the email.

  • Subject line for quiz result email

    Hello,
I am still working with Captivate 2 and I am wondering if
there is a way to set the subject line when emailing the quiz
    results.
Because I have several Captivate projects with quizzes, I
would like to distinguish between them.
    Thanks for your help,
    Matt

    Hi Matt
Sure thing. Where you type the E-Mail address, tack on a
question mark followed by subject= so it looks like this:
    [email protected]?subject=Any subject here
Note that if you left it at that, Captivate will advise this
isn't a valid address and the dialog won't dismiss. What it's
balking at are the spaces. To overcome this, use %20 where you have
a space. In this case, the line looks like this:
    [email protected]?subject=Any%20subject%20here

  • How to send quiz results to a web page?

Okay, this should have taken 2 minutes, not 2 hours. Very frustrating. Here is the situation:
    * Downloaded Captivate 5 Trial Version
    * Created based quiz (which took forever to figure out how to set the correct answers -- HORRIBLE user interface for setup, but that is another issue)
    * I want the results sent to a web page. I will code the web page & database calls, etc. to handle the information (I am a web developer). Just need the information sent somewhere!
    Several big issues here:
    1. When setting up a URL for the "Pass or Fail", nothing happens. User not taken anywhere. No "Post Results" button shown. The Captivate file just ends and that's it. ??
    2. Finally figured out that I needed the "Internal Server" option chosen to have a Post Results button shown. Okay.
So when I click Post Results (after answering the 5 questions correctly), I am shown a login box. Why? What is this for? This is not needed. I am going to an INTERNAL SERVER. It is none of Adobe's business what this person's name/email is. What gives? Okay... anyways, I enter my own Adobe login information. It then says "Connecting..." then I get a Status Message that says "Unknown Error". Keep in mind this will be used by a general audience, of which approximately 99.9% will not have an Adobe ID, nor should they need one.
How I can easily have the Captivate file redirect the user to pages like this: Confirm.aspx?pass=yes or Confirm.aspx?pass=no.
I don't need anything fancy. But I do need something that works. This is terribly frustrating and I'm about to say it just doesn't work. Please tell me I am wrong.
Thank for your time and for reading this.
    -Randy

The Quiz Results slide's Continue button actions are set under Quiz Preferences > Pass or Fail > If Passing Grade etc. By default, the Continue button is set to just continue on to the next slide after the Quiz Results.
After the user clicks the Continue button on the Quiz Results slide any Pass/Fail actions you've set up there will be evaluated and executed.
So if the user achieved a passing score, and you set up an action such as Go to URL in Current Window for that case, then the user should find themselves redirected to that URL.  If there was a different action for Failure, and the user failed, then that should happen.  But either of these will only happen after the Continue button is clicked.
I tested this by setting www.google.com as the go to URL and it worked.  To see if the URL is the issue, try using another URL that you know everyone can get to.  If that works, try to find out why the URL you want to use is not working.  If no URL works, something else is interfering with the action.

  • Submit quiz results to one single .csv file

How can I submit quiz results (over 200 people will be taking
my captivate quiz) to a single .csv file?
Right now, the quizes are submitted to my email address and
attached to the email as a POSTDATA.ATT file. I have to manually go
into my Outlook and save attachment as "FnameLname.csv”. So
each quiz taker will have an individual .csv file! So I will have
over 100 emails and over 100 .csv files!!!!!
How can I make the quiz results submit to a single
Quiz_Results.csv file on my web server instead?

The way I would do this is to submit the scores into a
database. In between Captivate and the database you'll need
middleware (.asp, asp.net, ColdFusion, etc.). This middleware
receives your data from Captivate and processes it - submitting it
into the database. You can then write another middleware page that
produces a report (web page table, or exports .csv file) with the
    data stored the database.
Another possibility is to use Captivate's built-in SCORM
functionality and submit user scores into an LMS, then run reports
and export .csv files from your LMS.
Sorry - I don't think this functionality is built into
Captivate to join multiple records into one .csv file.

  • Issues with reporting and quiz results analyzer

First issue: If a user skips a question, the question they've skipped doesn't appear in the QRA. It simply replaces the slide with the next one.
Example: User answers slide 5, skips 6, answers 7.
When viewing the results, slide 7 becomes slide 6, and all subsquent slides are off by one number.
Second issue: I am unable to update to the latest quiz results analyzer. I download directly from the Update built in QRA, or from adobe site's directly, both result in a corrupt package error. I've tried downloading and installing on numerous computers, but all of them give an error. Can anyone confirm the package isn't any good coming from Adobe?
Third: At the end of the quiz the user is asked for their email address. But unless its in the latest QRA there is no place to view their email address they've entered. How can I view the email address they've entered, or simply remove that question from the end of the exam?
Those are the main issues I've noticed so far when using Captivate. Of course the forum search is down, and has been for some time now so I can't search for these answers, so if anyone has them for me, thanks in advance!

    Hi,
Thanks for trying out Quiz Results Analyzer!!!
First issue: If a user skips a question, the question they've skipped doesn't appear in the QRA. It simply replaces the slide with the next one.
Whenever a user skips a question, the data for that question does not even get added to the final reports. This behavior is same as the behavior of several LMS. And that is the reason, why the reports for a skipped question do not appear in Quiz Results Analyzer.
Second issue: I am unable to update to the latest quiz results analyzer.
Yet, there is no update pushed from Adobe for Quiz Results Analyzer. So, you can be sure that you are using the latest version of Quiz Results Analyzer.
Third: At the end of the quiz the user is asked for their email address. But unless its in the latest QRA there is no place to view their email address they've entered. How can I view the email address they've entered, or simply remove that question from the end of the exam?
The email-id entered at the end of the quiz is just for distinguishing the results of students. Currently, there is no way to view the email-id of students using Quiz Results Analyzer.
    Hope this helps!!

  • Help in setting up Quiz Results Analyzer

Newbie here, Captivate 7. I followed directions on http://tv.adobe.com/watch/publish-and-track-results/reporting-using-lms-or-internal-server / except that I placed the internalServerReporting.php and internaserverread.php files in a folder named "cplms" on my web hosting service (linux). Looks like this:
My experimental courses' quiz results appear to get posted there O.K. and accurately, in the "CaptivateResults folder that was created as you can see. However, when I set the Quiz Results Analyzer preference to http://www.mydfb.com/cplms/internalserverread.php and "get results", I can see it going through the process of "checking companies", etc. but I get this result:
Note that the source is my "cplms" directory, but I get only 2 dots (parent directory?) in both the Organization and Department pull down lists. And under Course I get a list of all the files and folders in the parent (www) directory.
Obviously I'm doing something wrong in my setup. I've played around for hours with variations but can't get anything to work. Do I have to 'publish' my Captivate course on the same server as in the Adobe video tutorial?
I can FTP the "CaptivateResults" data back to my desktop machine and then point the Quiz Results Analyzer to that data and it works fine, but that's a bunch of extra steps.
Thank you - any help is appreciated.

Sorry mkjohnson74, but no one seems to want to help us. I don't think the Quiz Result Analyzer is ready for "prime time". It would be very nice if someone had put together a detailed (for newbies) guide on how to use it. In the meantime, I have found Widget that I think does an even better job of reporting than the Quiz Result Analyzer claims to do - and it was easy to set up and REALLY WORKS.
Download a free copy of Jim Leichliter's Google LMS With Email Reporting at http://captivatedev.com/2012/11/12/adobe-captivate-6-x-widget-google-lms-with-email-report ing-2/ . Install it by following his two excellent videos that are also on that web page. It works so well for me that I'm thinking I can eliminate my current LMS. I did run into one problem (because I didn't follow instructions) but Jim responded immediately and got everything fixed.
    I hope this helps.

  • Quiz results to a file that the learner cannot open?

    Hi all,
I have created a quiz for about 300 people (in Captivate 5) who will be working simultaneously in an environment of stand alone computers and without internet access.
Ideally I would like the quiz to self mark, but not display the results to the learner at that point in time.
I would like the quiz results to be saved to a file on the learners desktop that they cannot open once the quiz is completed.
My plan would be to collect all the results from the computers and record each result.  Emailing me the results is not an option.  At a later date I will be advising the learners of their results.
I am hoping that I can do something in the software to create a 'self-marking, unable to be opened, but able to be collected and opened by me' file.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance, Sue

Access, SQLServer, MySQL, Oracle, and just about any other database can be used. I'm not sure about Oracle, but the others are included with MS Office, have a free version, or free. Access is suitable for a small number of users. The others are more robust and suitable for enterprises. NI sells the Database Connectivity Toolkit but there are several free alternatives.

  • Reporting Quiz results when quiz resides on website.

I've gone through all the previous questions, and have spent countless days with the Adobe Live Help staff but cannot get an answer.
Please....is there any way to report- to any LMS, anywhere, alongside the quiz or on a local server, or any other configuration -  quiz results, when the quiz is on a website alongside the elearning course.
Using Captivate 8, I've tried communicating test results to Adobe Captivate Quiz Analyzer but, according to the Adobe Live Help  it is designed to only work on a local drive not across the internet.
Did ANYONE experience success with quiz reporting when the quiz is on a website???
ANY suggestions, recommendation, etc would be most appreciated.
    Thanks.

The email option for communication is likely a thing from yesteryear, when web-mail was largely unknown, as each PC had its own dedicated email "client" (such as Lotus, Outlook, et ux) to which javascript could be passed to perform the mailto: function.  Most users today (or the least, a near majority) use web-mail, and there is no mailto: functionality - thus, no use for Captivate's email option on the Success or Failure droplists.  I'll leave it to others to correct my misunderstandings ...

  • How to remove the NEXT button on the Quiz Results?

I can't find a way to get rid of the NEXT button on the Quiz

Nevermind. Apparently, this is a "feature" that can't be
    turned off.

  • Send quiz results for users without Internet access

We have a group of developers in India who do not have internet access. I have created an eLearning course in C4 with a quiz at the end. For most users, they take the course through our LMS and we can report results without a problem. However, we have a group of developers in India who do not have internet access. Is there a way to capture name and quiz results and send them via email? Alternatively, we can open up a port to access Connect, but I still need to report name and quiz results.
    Thank you,
    FG

    Hello,
Are those users connected in a network? If yes, with the version of Captivate 5 (will be available shortly) it will be possible to have the results send and stored on a server.
