Emailing Video files

I need to send a video by email but at the moment it is on a DVD. It has file endings BUP, IFO, and VOB.
I attempted to import them into FCP7 but it would only accept the VOB file.
Any ideas?

If your site is built with iWeb, and you host on Mobile Me, you can simply drag and drop the quicktime.mov file
onto the page you want the movie to appear on, and then upload the website as normal to
MobileMe.
If your site is built third party, and you don't host it on Mobile Me, you'll need to get your webmaster to do it,
which will simply involve uploading the video to where your website is stored, and then
creating an <a href> link to the file to have it set as a link on the page you desire.
Otherwise, if it is a blog such as Wordpress or Blogger, you could upload the video to
Youtube, get the embed code from Youtube once uploaded, and then post that code to
a blog entry on your site. Then, when you post the new entry, it will post a link to the video,
and the file will be stored on Youtube.

DVDs use muxed mpeg video and QT will not export sound from such formats. QT Mpeg Limitations
One workaround is to demux the mpeg-2 to separate video and audio streams. Sorry, I don't have a link to a Windows demux utility but I am sure you can find one on the net. Convert those separately to QT formats and then use QT to combine the separate tracks into a single file, like mpeg-4, which the iPod should read. QT (if you buy the mpeg2playbackcomponent) will play and convert the video to other formats. For the sound you will have to use a separate sound utility to convert the mpeg sound stream to a QT compatible form like AIFF or Wave. This freeware application offers a Windows version that should do the conversion. Audacity

  • Video Files as email attachments - what formats on iPhone 3Gs ?

    Hi
This may turn out to be a dumb newbie quesiton but what format video files can I play when sent as email attachments?
WMV shows as an attachment with the Qucktime icon but can't download/play
MPG allows you to launch but then says "Movie format is not supported"
Do I need to install a specific player app or is there a setting somewhere that I need to make?... or is this not possible (seems unlikely)
Plays vids on YouTube etc no problem.
    Thanks!
    Iain

Hello jlremington and welcome to the forums
Depending on the email integration type and software running on the device
will determine if you are able to use this feature.  Can I get the version
of software that is on the device? This can be found under Options -
About.  Also what type of email account are the messages coming
from?  Are you using a BES account or BIS account?  If your are using a BIS account what type of
integrations are you using? POP, IMAP, OWA, Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail etc…

  • Emailing a video file from tour to an email address

I am not able to send a video file from my BB tour 9630 to my email address. I have searched and searched for the option to do that but only found that it will send to a bluetooth device. I am not sure if my BB is configured correctly to send a video file to an email address. Can I send it to an email address or do I have to synch it to BB desktop manager, find the file somewhere, save it, then add it as an attachment. I get my sms/mms messages fine with video clips and can send them ok ! If I make a quick video/movie with my phone, I cant figure out how to send file to email....Hope someone has an answer. Thank you in advance...n2ironponys

Export them to the desktop (File -> Export) and attach them to the email from there.
Remember, videos are big files and many ISP's have limits on the size of email attachments.

  • Compress video files for email from iPod

I manage an ipod Lab for an intensive English school. We want students to be able to email themselves larger audio and video files from directly from the iPod without having to go through iTunes/iPhoto. We often run into the problem with files being too large to email and are wondering if there is some sort of compression app that we can install on the iPod that will let us compress large files down for email. Something like ESFileExplorer for Android.
    Thanks,
    jHart

Video and audio files are almost impossible to compress with a separate general-purpose compressor application. Such compressors just don't work with the way video and audio files are structured and usually make a video or audio file larger, not smaller; they can't shrink the file size and just add unnecessary overhead. The only effective way to shrink a video or audio file is to re-encode the file with a lower bit rate, smaller frame size (for videos) or both. I don't know if there's any app on the iPod that can do such re-encoding, and even if there is, unless these videos and audio files are quite short, it's probable that they can't be shrunk enough to get through most email systems which usually have very low attachment sizes allowed, often on the order of 10 to 20 megabytes maximum.
A cloud-based storage solution such as Dropbox may be the only practical solution, though I'm not sure what video and audio apps would support saving to such as service. Someone else here may be able to offer suggestions.
    Regards.

  • Best video file format to email for use in imovie09

Does anyone know which video file format is best to send by email so as to be able to then use the file in imovie09. For a business project, I have to request short videos to be emailed to me from a variety of individuals, and then I will put them together as an imovie project. Should Youtube be avoided as a source ? Thanks.

Emailing video can be a real drama.
You can easily convert YouTube video if you have the free software MPEG Streamclip: http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
Download version 1.9.3b4 and install in your applications.
Open then File > Open URL and copy/paste the YT clip address.
Then File > Export to QuickTime and select Apple Intermediate Codec for the compression.
The converted file will import into iMovie.

  • Video files - can email them but can't play them...

So, any advice on how to get video files created on the BB to play in Windows?  I took a video and that I want to email to someone so they can view it, but this 3MG file format doesn't play on any video player that I know of.  How can I get around this?

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
There are a few video conversion programs out there that will do the transcoding (to avi, mpg, etc.). You should research them and choose the one that fits your needs. I found a free one (just by doing a google search) that did a fine job of it for me.

  • Is there a way to send a large video file through email, not using websites?

    Hey guys,
Just wondering if there is an easy way to send a large video file through email, not using websites such as yousendit.com.
If anyone knows please respond, would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

No there isn't. Most all Email providers, whether your ISP or some other provider like Google, Yahoo, Microsoft with their Outlook.com or Office365 and Apple's own iCloud system, have a linit on the max size a email can be. Most are around 10MBs some slightly larger but if the vieo you want to send to someone it larger than that you will have to upload it to a website and then have the people you want to view it download it from that website.

  • How do I email a large video file (which has been zipped)?

I moved the video file from my iPhone to iPhoto and then exported to desktop.  I zipped it and cannot email it. I suspect it's too big (I can't seem to find the file size info).  Now I wish I had emailed it directly from my iPhone - seems that always worked with no issue.
    Thanks for any advice!

Movies shot on your Phone are massively compressed already. Zipping will make no difference to the file size.
Many email services have an attachment limit if 20mb and some an attachment limit of 10mb. That means that video is rarely suitable for emailing. Options:
Upload it to a sharing site like YouTube or Vimeo and email a link - these will allow the recipient to view the material onlne.
Upload it to sharing services like Dropbox or YouSendIt and email a link. This will require that they downoad the material to their machines to view.

  • TS3899 How email large video file iPad

How can I email a large video file which is on my iPad ?

Typically viides exceed the attachment size limit established by the mail providers and thus can't be emailed.
Try an app like DropBox to transfer them to the cloud and then get them from that cloud.

  • Nokia N8 - Sending large video files via email pro...

Hello, When I try to send a pretty large video file via email on my N8 I get the following error "Memory low. Delete or move some data from C: Phone memory." However my videos are stored on my memory card which has plenty of space so I am confused and not sure what to do
I hope someone can help me on this, any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank You.

My best guess would be that the N8 temporarily caches the video to C: memory when sending via Email and therefore the file size exceeds the available free memory on C:.
I'm not sure the email server will allow the sending of files larger than a certain limit anyway, so you may be out of luck if you want to send any videos via email.

  • When I email videos from my iphone 5 (ios 6), i cannot open the file in quicktime. Anyone know a fix?

Hey, so I just got an iPhone 5, and i've come across an issue involving sending videos. I am now thinking it is quicktime on my computer, but here's the situation. I e-mail videos taken from my phone to myself, or my coach, for review. I did that a lot with my 4s when running ios 5, and everything was fine. Now when I e-mail videos from my iPhone 5 (ios 6), my computer will show a thumbnail of the video, but when I open it in quicktime, the video is black, but there is sound. I am however able to open it in VLC player, but i would much prefer to be able to open it in quicktime. Could it be the way it was compressed when e-mailed? When I plugged my phone into my computer and copied the full (uncompressed) video file from the iphone, it opened fine in quicktime. Also my coach has quicktime pro on Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion), and both files open fine.
I am running Windows 7, with Quicktime version 7.7.2.
    Any ideas?

The only fix I know right now for Windows users is QuickTime 7.7.1

  • Since upgrade to os5 video files from emails can no longer be viewed, they are downloaded as before, but I am no longer asked which program to open file with.  I used Azule without problems before os5' now os5 tries to open video file and stalls.  Any fix

Os5 must have changed playback functionality of video files, it tries to play .wmv files, but crashes...it shows "loading", but nothing happens.  Before update it would prompt me to choose an app to show the file, Azule worked great, but now it doesn't offer to chose an app.
    How do I fix this?

Indeed you were right. I though that in single mode all services were not started, but apparently I was mistaken.
However, as I feared, there seemingly is no useful info in it.

How can I sav an emailed .mov file to my iPad?

Yes there is, if you hold down the attachment widget in the email once the video is downloaded, it will give you a series of options to save it to, including camera roll.
    Hope this solves your question.
