Emailing video, why .mov in ios8?

Hi, am trying to email a short video taken on my ipad (ios8) to a friend but the attachment is a .mov which is no use to anyone outside of the apple environment. Why is it not .mp4 as default? Is it possible to change the format or am I being forced to share it via iCloud, which seems pointless as it is only 2MB in size.

In the browser column for alpha or in the clip's item properties, right-click and select the type of alpha you're using, probably pre-multiplied with black. Not sure if that's what Motion uses. You can tell by looking it. If there's a dark halo around the alpha channel it's probably been pre-multiplied with black, unless of course you have a black edge on the text, then you won't see it.

  • Why can't I email videos taken with iphone 4 from my mac

Why can't I email videos taken with my iphone 4 from my Mac? It says the video is to big or long but the particular one I am trying to send is only 1 min 16 sec long. I don't remember having this problem with my 3gs. I am trying to email them with my yahoo act, and I see this very same question was asked July of 2010, but their are no replies. It may be a very simple fix, but I can't seem to figure it out. Surly, I don't have to reduce my videos to 30 sec or less to get them to send. Can anyone please help a gal out?

Go into the Activity Monitor and Quit or Force Quit the Acrobat process.

  • I keep hearing that I can't email videos from iPhoto because they are too big. What I don't understand is that I was able to send videos via email in the past. Why?

    Look at your settings iPhoto>Preferences>Accounts
and make changes here or add your email account if not in the list
One thing to look at for sure is the SMTP sever name, I think by default it fills it in as smtp.me.com  or some such,  which may not be your email outgoing server.

  • HT1338 Can't get many videos sent by email. Get movie format not recognized. Went to Tell me more, but don't understand the instructions.

Help me get videos and movies on my MacBook?

    Hi Peter MacGregor,
That is odd, is there a restriction on attachments in the mail client?

  • ITunes 7.6 No Audio When Playing a Music Video or Movie

I just installed iTunes 7.6.0.29 (It was released today).
There is no audio when playing a music video or a movie that I've purchased. Movie trailers and music videos in the iTunes store have no audio either. Videos from iTunes University that I've downloaded (such as an MIT lecture) play fine w/ audio.
Music audio (such as tracks I've purchased or tracks on the iTunes store) play fine.
QuickTime videos, such as a QT video on my desktop play fine. Windows Media Player works fine too.
So, why don't music videos and movies play (w/audio) on iTunes 7.6??

I'm experiencing what appears to be the exact same issue. I just installed iTunes 7.6.
    Video but no audio:
    Purchased iTunes TV episodes
Streamed video trailers in the iTunes Store
    Works fine:
All music files, including protected files purchased through iTunes
The standalone Quicktime player performs normally with MOV files. Windows Media Player still performs normally.
I found an old support doc complaining of a similar issue with a previous iTunes release and tried the suggested fix: Uninstalling Quicktime and reinstalling it using the standalone installer (Quicktime 7.4). I also reinstalled iTunes. Neither solved the issue.
I'm very disappointed that I can no longer access the files I've purchased. I hope this is fixed very soon.

Your question requires more information. What does MPEG-4 mean to you? What file container and which compression formats are you referring to here? Is the MPEG-4 content "standard" or proprietary. Basically, depending on the file container and the specific content, QT X v10.3 may initiate a conversion ever where the individual data tracks are fully QT compatible. Proprietary compression formats will definitely do this. In some cases, the audio or video in one source container may simply be passed through to the MOV file while in another source container, QT X v10.3 forces a conversion of that same data track. In short, there are too many variables at this point to properly answer your question or attempt to duplicate your workflow.

  • How to email video clips?

I have made a short video on iMovie. Right now the video is ready in the upper left section of iMovie. If I were to make a dvd, I would click SHARE to iDVD, but I would like to email the video to a client, rather than make a dvd. What is the best way to email video clips to a client?
    Thanks

    *best practice* :
    • 'share' your Project to YouTube
    • mail the URL to that YT-video to client
=> you avoid problems with size (=video is huge)/Bandwidth probs, and 'formats' (=YT is by sheer popularity 'standard'). You can set your Video at YT to 'Private', so only your client is able to watch it. meanwhile, YT allows superb quality ..-
    not-so-good practice:
under Share, Export using Quicktime and the following Option-dialogs allow tons of options to convert and 'shrunk' the video. depending on, what your IP allows about mail-attachement's sizes, you can play with the 'knobs' format/codec, frame-rate, size, to make the video small enough - for the price of quality and compatibility. ex, Windows users often have problems with h264.mov ...

  • IPhone video to .mov HELP!

I have uploaded, edited and exported a bunch of videos shot from iPhones. They were told to use the cameras in landscape position so all of the video would be the same size. I'm new to this and when I exported the video to .mov the video images are distorted (they have tracers). Everything gets blurred with the tracers. How can I fix this?

    Harm,
Please understand I admire you greatly. This is merely a technical and social conversation about the concept of shooting with a cell phone. If it makes any sense. You say it doesn't. I say it can. And has. And does.
I have to admit I have never shot video with an iPhone but the video specs don't look all that different from my Android (Samsung Galaxy SII).
My phone is much larger than an iPhone. In fact, so much larger that I had to modify the iPhone holder that sits on the tripod to handle how much bigger my phone is.  So the odd stuff you see is the results of Gorilla Glue that I didn't wipe off in time.
Now, I don't know anything about variable frame rates. Never shot them, never edited them, never saw anything shot with them to my knowledge. That said, let's discuss the tripod. I was too lazy to dig out the quick release plate for my Bogen Manfrotto sticks so please just accept that the fact that the cell phone holder will fit on the quick release plate. Therefore, I can use big heavy sticks with a decent head on them, just to shoot cell phone footage. Crazy huh? (Trust me when I say if I have my sticks I have my good camera!)
I am not saying that anybody but me would do something that silly, but before I got my new camera, I had a cell phone and I didn't want to carry my big huge, out of date, HDV camera around much anymore (Sony HDR-FX1). Heck, the camera shoots 1440X1080 with rectangular pixels and the cell phone shoots full HD. HDV camera is 1080i, cell phone is 1080p.
Anyway, that takes care of the tripod issue. By the way, there are other ways to steady an iPhone shot. Check out these pictures.
As far as white balance goes, I have Auto, Daylight, Cloudy, Incandescent and Fluorescent. Not great, but generally adequate for anything I might shoot in with a cell phone.
I can adjust the exposure value, the ISO, set up guidelines to help with the rule of thirds, shoot in Sepia, grayscale, all manner of other things.
Of course the video is not professional grade. Certainly not. But sometimes the quality of the picture is not the most important thing. Sometimes capturing the event is the main goal. You use a cell phone to make telephone calls, right? Does it sound as good as that old phone that used to be hard wired into the hole in the wall? You know, the big heavy phone that had a cord just long enough to reach the little shelf they used to build into houses for the phone to sit on. No. The cell phone quality is not anywhere near as good. (I can tell you exactly why but believe me when I say you really don't care to hear the reasons.)
But you use the cell phone. Why? Because you have it in your pocket. Well, it is also a camera. And almost everyone has one. Our President is credited for giving them away along with the free service to poor people in America.
As for audio... use an external recorder just like you would for almost any decent movie. Why would you expect the audio on a cell phone to be any better than the audio on a good camera. But recording the audio with the video makes it a LOT easier to sync it up.
As for YouTube, I use it to learn things. I also use it to listen to my favorite music. There is an appeal to seeing the lyrics scroll by. My ears are not what they used to be and I hate wearing my hearing aids. There are lots of good videos on YouTube. Way more bad ones, but you have to learn to pick your channels properly.
I loved the movie The King's Speech. I like high quality photography and film that allows me to fall into the story instead of jarring me out of the story with short jerky camera shots. But I'll bet I could make a terrible movie with the finest of cameras. And a great movie with a cell phone. Well, if I hired a great director, and lighting guys, and had a story to tell - you know what I mean.
I'll bet Lucas, or Spielberg, or Kurosowa (if he were still alive) could make a great film with a cell phone camera if they wanted to. Or, at least a short for proof of concept. I have never seen iPhone footage properly color graded. Or have I? Would I know for sure?
In any case, the OP has iPhone footage and probably needs to edit it with Premiere Pro and may or may not even need to transcode it and therefore would not have the original problem if we were concentrating on the problem rather than the philosophy held by people who have decent video cameras. And yes, I consider my Panasonic DMC-GH3 a decent video camera.
For all we know, the OP normally shoots with a Red Epic but is doing someone a favor at the youth group.
    Edit:

  • ITunes and QTime videos and movies work horrible in Netbooks, All Versions

I own several Netbooks and my latest purchase is the HP 5101 Mini which is one of the best Netbooks on the market. I can't understand why my movie files that I purchased on iTunes play back so choppy. Yet, movie files I purchased that I can play through DivX7, PowerDVD 9 and even Windows Media Player work without a hitch. I also downloaded the MPEG-2 converter for QTime and there is not a bit of difference in video playback on my Netbooks. I thought Apple was supposed to have the best codec software for playback, etc. What gives?

As far as I know, there is no way to make iTune or QuickTime runs faster on Windows platform. However, this should somewhat answer your question as of why movie file play back is so choppy.
"iTunes for Windows carries a base of intermediary code which translates the OS X framework into specific Windows program calls, adding significantly to the overall bloat and overhead.
The technique allows Apple to rapidly develop applications in parallel for both OS X and Windows, and it keep a single code base, which simplifies maintenance. It also results in Windows versions being a pixel-perfect copy of their OS X counterparts because the same code defines internal logic and aesthetics in both application versions. But the intermediary "translation" layer that's added to the Windows version of iTunes eats up a lot of CPU time, resulting in a sluggish performance under Windows."

  • Itunes now won't allow users to categorise videos ie. move from Film to Podcast

Itunes now won't allow users to categorise videos ie. move from Film to Podcast.  Why not? Infuriating.
Respect your customers or you'll lose us! Android/Windows are flexible.

Just to add, itunes needs to allow users to define their own file hierachy

  • When I email videos, only the sound is received

I emailed a video from my iPhone to my home email and the movie screen is black but you can still hear the sound.  What's up with that?

    Adam,
Certain commercial CDs, often ones from the Warner Brothers Group, are "defective by design," i.e., designed not to allow accurate ripping.
    You can try the following:
    Re-rip with error correction enabled
Rip in another program on the same computer, e.g. Windows Media Player
Rip on another computer, and copy the files back to your own library on a flash drive.
The last one worked for me recently.  A certain CD gave distorted rips on my Windows machine, but worked fine in iTunes on my daughter's Mac.

  • I have Video camera movies that are HD format.. I am doing editing work on them using Final Cut Pro, but using DV PAL format for the projects I am editing. When I then tried to copy my work done in FCP Project that's originally DV PAL , into a new FCP Pro

I have Video camera movies that are HD format.. I am doing editing work on them using Final Cut Pro, but using DV PAL format for the projects I am editing. When I then tried to copy my work done in FCP Project that's originally DV PAL , into a new FCP Project that is HD, and tried reconnect media with original HD movies (video), the sequence project got distorted for all the text, shapes used and all.. everything changed its orientation and scale.. Is there a way by which I can preserve my work done on DV PAL and switch it preserving its proportions, scale and orientation, but on a HD project sequence?? Appreciate your help and advice..

Yes.  A couple of ways that might work.
    First Way
What you need to do is load one of your hd clips in the viewer and edit into a new HD sequence.  Does it display correctionly?
OK, select the clip in the hd timeline and copy (command-c).  Now go to the HD sequence with the material that's distorted.  Select all (command-a) and paste attributes (option-v) and choose basic motion and distort.  That should maek things work.  What won't work is anything that you've adjusted as far as basic motion or distort in your PAL sequence.  That I'm pretty sure you'll have to redo.
    Second Way.
Choose your original PAL sequence and do a Media Manage changing the sequence preset to the appropriate HD paramenters with the media offline.  You then should be able to reconnect these clips with your original HD media.

  • How can I delete emails in bulk iPhone 5 iOS8

I have tried the: Edit: Check first email: Hold the move button while unchecking the first email: Remove finger and move to trash.
When I do and go to trash to delete them permanently, they are not there, they go right back to my inbox. I have deleted everything from the server already. Does anyone know how to delete these without doing them one at a time? I only have about 500 emails, but it is still time consuming. Thanks in advance.

There's no "Delete All" option for an Inbox.  Depending on the email provider, you may have it for Trash and Junk boxes.
