Emailing with iPhoto
When I email pics from iPhoto I find that the quality of the 'medium' size files is very poor and if I go to 'large' size for emailing the quality is much better on my Mac, but the pics appear far too large on PC's. Also, they do not appear on the PCs as a JPEG attachment, but rather a large bitmap.
Is there any way around this?

Scott

I assume you are using Apple mail - be sure that use windows friendly attachments is checked and send mail as plain text rather than html - that should help (it will not affect the size but the way photos are sent - and many things you do not control - the receiving mail client controls some of the format and size parameters

Whenever i try to email with iphoto i get a pop-up saying THE EMAIL SERVER DIDNT RECOGNISE USERNAME/PASSWORD COMBINATION
Are you sending from your iCloud Mail address? And do you have two-step verification enabled?
If you had two-step verification enabled, you have to set up an app-specific password for iPhoto, if you want to use iPhoto as a Mail client.
See the post below:
Re: I am using iPhoto version 9.6 and I can no longer get an email sent with a photo attached. I get an error message saying the email did not go through because the server did not reply. I can send the photo with Mail. Help!in response to Gary Kissler | This solved my question
This solution is for those of you using 2-step verification for your Apple ID and are using iCloud as the mail server that you are trying to mail photos with.
I too had this issue. The problem in my case occurred because I had setup 2-step authentication for my Apple ID. If you have done this then you will get the error message "the mail server did not recognize your email/password...". To solve the problem go to:
https://appleid.apple.com
Click "Manage Your Apple ID"
Verify your identity with the device you selected (if this step does not show up then you have not likely set up 2-step authentication and this is not your solution)
Click Password and Security in the left column
Click Generate an app-specific password
Enter iPhoto as the name of the app
Copy the password and paste this into the password box in iPhoto where you would normally enter your apple ID (in the mail account section in iPhoto preferences).
And...voila' (I hope) -

I have been an enthusiastic Apple/Mac user for over 20 years, and have always kept the software up to date as I held the highest regard for Mac software....until now!!
The latest version of IPhoto 11 (V9.1) is a disaster, compared to the previous iPhoto 09 (V8.1.2)
* It is slow
* Sending emails has taken the process back to a standard worse than the worst old Windows software.
* In iPhoto 09 V 8.1.2 sending photos by email was a breeze....select the photos, click on email, my Entourage address file would display, select one or multiple addresses &/or CC, add any narative, and send. The
file size of the ‘photos would be automatically condensed to about one fifth the size, and I would have a record in my “sent” folder.
None of these important features are available in IPhoto 11 V 9.1!! And even worse I cannot revert back to IPhoto 09 V8.1.2!!
I travel overseas frequently where sending large files using internet roaming is very expensive and slow, and in outback Australia internet is often very very slow, so without the ability to easily condense file sizes, & keep records of who I have contacted, IPhoto 11 V 9.1 is useless to me.
I have not had time to explore other changes in this version, and hope there are not too many other disappointments.
I wish I had read the comments of the many other disatisfied users on the discussion forum, if I had I would not have upgraded.
I trust that Apple will remedy the above very soon.Sending emails has taken the process back to a standard worse than the worst old Windows software.
a: If you don't like the new ways that iPhoto handles emailing then you can access the old way with a small change in how you work:
1. Drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Mail icon in the Dock.
or
2. Use the Photo browser in Mail - or any Media browser in the entire OS
Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
You can then resize the image in the iPhoto Window
Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
Finally, you can make a simple OS Service to to automate the procedure. For more on this have a read of this:

b: Godwin's Law (Apple Discussions variant) Eventually, someone will announce that Apple has lost its moral compass and is fast becoming Microsoft.
And even worse I cannot revert back to IPhoto 09 V8.1.2!!
You can. There are many threads detailing how to do that on the forum.
I trust that Apple will remedy the above very soon.

Ok, I do not like the new email feature of '11. Is there anyway to email pictures like in '09? I do not like themes, and no one I email to gets them anyway. I just was to be able to choose the size and send it like in '09. With the themes, the pictures are always messed up. Cropped to much, too small, ect. Also, my parents who have Windows PC's cant save or print the pics I send. Thanks in advance!

Photos either do not arrive at all or arrive as an unrecognized file type, or sometimes go straight through. Apple support has been unable to resolve. Does anyone have any suggestions??? I am experiencing this on all my devices -- MacBookAir, iMac, both running most current version of Lion; iPad v1.0; and iPhone 4S

If you can not send from any of these devices then it has to be your e-mail service - the e-mail clients for OS X and for IOS 5 are totally different - the only common thread between all of these devices is your e-mail service

I am having difficulty including text with iPhotos I want to share through email. I get a red exclamation mark along with a statement stating that the text doesn't fit into the designated text area. This is so frustrating. Before iLire11 I was easily able to share photos with email messages. Arghhhh!
In the iPhoto preferences you can set Apple Mail as your e-mail client and then it will work exactly as before

I can email but IPhoto does not recognize my server to enable me to send email photos. Any advice? N
I've been having this problem too, but here's the catch: originally it was only with my dad, and only sometimes. Now it's dad and husband, every time! Pix go through, via imessage, to everyone else, and they go through to dad/husband if I "send as text" after it fails.
And the other annoying thing- the blue bar will run all the way, and it will say "delivered". So I close out of imessage. When I reopen it again, the "delivered" has changed to "not delivered" with the red exclamation point. I just googled "imessage not sending photos" and founds TONS of people with the same problem, but no solutions. (I have rebooted phone, reset network settings, with no luck. I even had to backup/delete/restore my whole phone the other day for a different reason, and hoped that would fix it, but now it won't send to my dad OR my husband (who is on not just the same carrier, but the same family plan as me) -
how come when I send a picture with iPhoto email it always send the same picture event when I choose a different picture until I log out from iPhoto
Why? Because something is wrong.
As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there? -
Cannot email from iPhoto 9.2 with my MobileMe-email only account.
Mac OS 10.6.8, iPhoto 9.2
I can send emails from my MobileMe regular account, but not from my MobileMe-email only account. I keep getting the alert:
"Your email was not sent. Please wait a few moments and then try sending your email agan."
Anyone know why?Yup, I have exactly the same problem like you have.
I thought it was a problem with Apple's iCloud server but one of my friend told me this morning that he didn't have any problem with iPhoto' s iCloud email sending.
Do I have to do all the clean install from the beginning or what?
This thing is really bugging me I didn't have any problem when I was using mobileme account connected with iphoto back then.
I'm not even sure if it's the problem with Lion or iPhoto or iCloud anymore...
Somebody help with this matter, pleaseeeee -
Sharing a photo with iphoto 11 - you can only email to one person?
Hi all - just installed ilife 11 and have been playing around with the sharing within iphoto - but it appears you can only email to one person within iphoto!
Is this correct or am i missing something? All software up to date etc
as ever, many thanks

ScotlandYou can email to more than one person at a time. Sadly though, you are not able to email to groups.
The only way around this would be to use the Mac Mail application.
If for some reason you can only add one email and no more after that there may be an issue with iPhoto. Try fully quitting and restarting as mentioned. If the issue persists then i would try removing the Caches and .plist files, rebooting the computer and then testing again.
/Library/Caches
/System/Library/Caches
~Library/Caches (where '~' denotes your Home folder)
Drag those 3 to the trash and then;
~Library/Preferences/com.apple.iphoto.plist
Move that to the desktop and reboot. Test again and let us know how it looks.
Sincerely

When I email from iPhoto separate emails with a different photo on each, the email on my iPad opens each photo attachment as the same photo sent on the first email. This only happens when I use iPhoto to email. My daugther was sending pictures this way and at first it worked but now it does this same thing. Any suggestions?
First try this: make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and do the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
Second, if the above fails launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and check to see if the problem persists.
