Emailing Word files = corruption

Hello, My boss uses her Mail application to send emails, and recently when she attaches Word documents, the receipient says they are corrupted, most recently her attachment arrived looking like a QT file. I get these same attachments no problem, and I send Word docs no problem as well. I use Entourage for Mac. Wondering if anyone has any advice. I installed a new version of Word on her computer, but still no dice.

In Entourage> Preferences> Compose, are attachemnts set to encode for "any computer (AppleDouble)" or is encoding set for Windows (MIME), Unix (UUEncode), or Mac (BinHex)? If it's set for anything other than "any computer", try switching.

MS Word files corrupted

I have the following problem in using word.
Some of my documents get corrupted and cannot be opened or recovered. (Below some of what I get if I try to open them)
If I try to open them I get the dialog box that says it is not a MS document giving me the option to translate the document from other programmes to MSW. None of the options work however.
FYI all the documents that are corrupted where created in MSW X.
I have done permission repairs and things like Mac Janitor etc.
I was alo wondering if my back-up programme was causing this, but have not found anything that indicates this.
Question is:
How can I recover these documents?
What causes it and how can it be prevented or repaired?
Any other suggestions?

Sometimes, this helps:
If you can open the file, "Save As" > "Rich Text(RTF)". Then "Save As" back to MS Word.
Also, have you tried changing the fonts on any of the corrupt docs to Lucida Grande?

My Office 2007 Word Files are all corrupted. Can't open any of them.

PDF File corrupted when being sent by email by tomcat... what's wrong?

I have been a little frustrated trying tomcat to send a pdf file by email after it have been uploaded to the server.
First case:
If i run the same code in windows, it works.
Second case:
If i run the same code manually in java in the tomcat linux server it works.
Third case:
The problem is when the code is running by tomcat in a jsp page.
In every situation the email goes to the sender, but in the last one, the reported size of the pdf file is not the same as the first and second case resulting in a pdf corruption. It cannot be opened.

Why are url and email addresses not fully viewable in a PDF when generated from a Word file?

I have a question?
A colleague in our Copenhagen office wanted to generate a pdf from a Word file. She is working on a Windows 2007 operating system and is running Acrobat Pro 9. When she generated the PDF only part of a url and an email address was visible when the PDF was viewed. She was wofking from Standard settings. I am running the same software on the same Windows platform and using the same computer equipment with the same settings yet I was able to generate a PDF where the full url and email address was visible.
Can anyone out in Adobe Acrobat land provide me with an answer?

That's probably because the Mac people are opening or viewing the PDFs within the Mac's "Mail" program or with the "Preview" program and not with Acrobat.
Since the Windows people aren't using these programs and most likely just Acrobat or Adobe Reader, the layers are kept hidden.
I'm afraid the only way to truly keep those layers hidden is to delete them before saving your file as a PDF. (Of course, do a "Save As" and keep your original .ai file intact.

Corrupted MS Word file on Windows 7 when Saving as PDF - ZWADOBEF

I have a Word 2013 file on Windows 7.
I started to "Save As PDF", but cancelled the process because it was taking so long. My Word doc is about 200 pages.
When I went back to work on the document, the Navigation pane showed seemingly random numbers prepended to each heading, and in some cases to paragraphs themselves. The numbers didn't seem to appear in the document body but there was a tiny small blinking dot.
Upon close inspection I found that the numbers were in 1 pt. font ZWadobeF.
I need to get rid of all the numbers.
It also appears that the file size was affected too. It is now a 200 page document that is 7.5MB.
On a tight deadline (of course) and need to resolve this ASAP.

I tried several things to resolve the issue and can now produce PDFs without corrupting the Word file.

Despite the warnings I was able to produce the PDFs. However, when I double-click the file name in Windows Explorer, Distiller launches and displays the following error:
The only way to open the file in Explorer is to right-click the file name and select EDIT IN ACROBAT.
Also- and this may be a separate issue altogether, Word constantly hangs and displays the NOT RESPONDING message above the toolbar. This happens whether or not I am in the process of creating a PDF, and occurs in large and small size documents.

I hope someone out there can help me recover a corrupted Word file. My Macbook froze while I working on an important document. I was forced to restart it but when I tried to reopen the file I had been working on, I got a message that "The file is corrupt and cannot be opened" I have surfed the web for solutions and some suggested opening and repairing the file under PC versions of Word. I've done that, but when the file opens, the entire document is filled with weird symbols and characters. Please tell that I haven't lost everything

Well it's hard to say if recovery of your file is possible, but you can check if you have selected the Save AutoRecover information every x minutes check box in your MS Office settings.
If yes just check AutoRecover file location box in MS Office settings.
If not and you don't have backup, your file is lost i think.

You need an app that you can use the Open In function and save the file into that is compatible with Word files like Pages, Smart Office and now Mocrosoft has a Word App for the iPad. It is a read only version unless you subscribe to. Office 365, as far as I know anyway, but it is free and you can save the file to the app.
Search the App Store for other alternatives.

Since upgrading to OSX Yosemite cannot open word files downloaded from email.

I have recently installed OSX Yosemite on my late 2010 macbook air. Since upgrading I have been unable to open files in Word that I have downloaded from my email. Old word files seem to work fine. My university has given faculty access to "Office 365" and that is what I use for my email. However whenever I try and download a word file from my email the computer opens word for a second - I can see the first page of the document - and then immediately closes. This happens regardless of whether or not I open the file from my computer in my desktop or in my downloads folder, or just download another copy from my email. The word file works fine on another windows computer, it's only on this mac that Office 2011 crashes every time I try and open this new file. Please advise?

IOS 4.2 email attachment word file not displaying the full document

I have just downloaded iOS 4.2 and have noticed that an issue that bugged me on the iPad has now made it's way to my iPhone.
Every day I receive an email with an A4 size word file attached, that contains a full page table. When I viewed the attachment on my iPad (running iOS 3.2) the last column of the table would be cut off. If I viewed the same file on my iPhone (running iOS 4 or earlier), I could see the whole document.
The issue didn't annoy me when it was only on the iPad as it was more important for me to view the file on the iPhone, but now the issue has crossed over to the iPhone with the update to 4.2, the last column of the table in the document is being cut off. Changing the layout of the file is not an option.
Any ideas?

i have sent some word documents through yahoo email. when downloading the files in another computer (windows), the word files are not recognised and did not have an 'extension name' (if thats what they are called) such as ' .doc '
I have set the computer (windows) to show the extension name, but the downloaded files did not have one.
When opening the email using my iphone, it did not work as my iphone did not recognise the file type and said 'Mail cannot open this attachment'.

Well status as of now is :
GUI : I am able to attach documents in BP properly. However after the documents are attached, when I try to open the attachment, it is not opening .txt files. Surprisingly it opens .Doc, .ppt, .xls & .pdf documents
PCUI : I am able to attach the documents properly.
However when I open the document, it is not opening any type of file. I click on attached document icon and it just does not do anything. I mean no window pop-up or anything like that.
By the way what exactly do I need to do in SICF transaction ? Can you please elaborate.

Files corrupting when sending email attachments from Mail & Thunderbird

Hi All
I'm hoping that someone will be able to help here as this problem is driving me crazy!
Most if not all of my email attachments are corrupting when sending from Apple Mail and Thunderbird. I'm also having issues with publishing files via FTP from Rapidweaver 5! I have spoken to BT about the issue but they have tested the line and say everything is OK.
The strange thing is, it's happening on my MacBook Pro (Mountain Lion) and my Mac Pro (Lion). The problem's also happen when I'm using a friends high speed internet connection so that only leaves the server. I'm really out of my depth with the server side of things though. I did have a reply from Servage (my hosting company) who said I may have been the subject of a hack and an upload script!! Not sure what this means or how to check if this is the case. One question though, would this corrupt email attachments as well as uploading to the server?

Further to the above: I have now found that the same corruption happens when I email attachments and FTP from my PC laptop, so this rules out a computer issue. I have also swapped wireless routers and exactly the same problem. As mentioned above, I don't get the corruption when using another internet connection.
Also, I have an iPhone which I've restored to factory default settings and when I take a photo with the phone and email it (using my home wireless network), the file corrupts, everytime.
Using services such as YouSendIt and WeTransfer, gives the same problems!
I'm desperate for help on this one and I'd even pay someone to resolve it!
