Emails disappear on opening Mail

I open Mail and then watch as emails that I want to read disappear right in front of me. AND, they are not in the trash or spam folders.
Any ideas?
thanks

I have the same problem as of 12:00 noon today (NY time). I upgraded to Leopard yesterday and all email was working fine until today.
I'm desperate to find out how to fix it.
I'll let you know if I find out anything- please do the same. Thanks

  • Why does blue dot disappear when opening mail

When I click on the mail icon to go to my "in" box, the "in" box opens properly, but them immediately the blue dots next to new, unread emails disappear and unless I noticed, I can't visually see which emails are unread.  How do I fix this so the blue dots stay until I open the actual message?

Will obviously have to ensure all video and audio is fully ready for output then add the titles and export to disc without shutting down.
Have you tried exporting a video yet?
You might be disappointed to find that the titles don't render either - even if you do export before shutting down.
So I hate to make the bug even worse without any help whatsoever ;-) but that's the state of this bug as I know it.
If you can get any titles done at all, you're seriously lucky as far as I'm concerned.
This has already been discussed in other threads. It is a really rotten series of bugs - I hope they're embarrased enough to get a fix out soon (ie before the 2012 release).
I mean, who cares about professional features when you can't use titles?

  • Has anyone found the solution to email disappearing with Apple Mail?

    Hello,
I have seen quite a number of postings about email disappearing with Apple's Mail client, regardless of what account they are using (yahoo, gmail, aol, etc.). What I have noticed is that email vanishes right in front of my eyes from the folders I have created to keep my email in order. Sometimes I move a message or several and I see them in the folder for a day or two, and then a few days later they are simply gone. This happens from the sent folder too. It is random. No, they are not in the trash, or junk, or anywhere else. Doing a full search turns nothing. They are really, really gone.
Sometimes, I go to a folder and I see how in a second one or several messages disappear from the list and that is it. Never to be found again. Not even if I visit the web-based account I can retrieve them. They are gone.
The worst part is when they disappear from my sent folder immediately after they leave the outbox, so I am not sure if it sent or not, and I have to retype the whole thing again just to make sure.
This is extremely annoying, and I have seen I am not the only one to which this happens. Has anyone found a fix for this bug? Should I simply keep all my email in my inbox? Or should I just give up on Apple Mail and use Thunderbird?
I have an old powerbook G4 with 10.4 and Mail 2. Not like it makes much difference, I've seen people complaining about the same issue in later versions of OS and Mail.
    Thanks for any help

  • Email disappeared from Mac Mail.

Hello. Email has disappeared from Mac Mail. Running last updated Mavericks. I went back in the time machine settings to revert to the day before the mail disappeared, and each time I go in there, I can see the mail showing up. Except, when I go to revert, nothing transfers back into the account. Any advice on what is going on and how to fix it? Years of mail are now "gone."

Okay, there is definitely an error message coming up in the log. I only selected a few messages from 2008 to restore. I selected just one of the error log messages I received (essentially one for each email it tried to restore). Thanks for all your help. As an aside, if it helps you to respond, I've just started a computer science degree, so I'm starting to feel my way around this stuff, but have a good cursory understanding. Not to say that your directions aren't just succinct and perfectly laid out!

  • Gmail emails disappearing from my Mail inbox

    Hi,
I use the Mail program to manage my emails on my MacBook Pro (as well as my iPad and iPhone).  I recently set up a gmail account and have been having a strange problem.  Sometimes after I read a gmail, it disappears from my Mail Inbox folder.  I haven't been able to figure out a pattern as it doesn't seem to do it every time.  When our IT manager configured my computer for gmail, I ended up with a  Gmail folder and two subfolders called "All Mail and one called "Important" on my Mail desktop.  I told him I didn't want or need those folders but he couldn't get rid of them.  When the gmails disappear from my Mail Inbox, I can always find them in one or both of these Gmail folders.  But the problem is I get so many emails I don't always notice that one has disappeared until it is too late! This is causing some significant problems.  No one has been able to figure out how to stop these emails from moving on their own. Our IT manager is more familiar with PCs than Macs.  I hope you can help!!  It's very frustrating!

No. The email never makes it to me. It is on my iPhone for an instant, but then it disappears. It never makes it to my Outlook on my computer, and it is not in the Junk Mail, Deleted Items, or in my Sonic Wall Spam Filter box. There are 4 other people in my office, and I know that at least 2 of them are having the same problem. I can't tell if this is a problem with my iPhone or my Exchange Server. Help!

  • Mail: emails disappear once opened from Alert Banner

For some unknown reason emails which I've opened directly from the alert notification banner then disappear completely from my inbox, the trash folder or any related Sent messages. This has only just started happening; am wondering if it's coincident with a recent update installation but can't be certain.

  • Incoming email disappears after opening.

Does anyone know why new incoming emails in .mac account would disappear right after opening?  I have searched my entire mailbox looking for them and I have to ask the sender to resend.  This is not for all new incoming emails,  it is sporadic.

There are some good ideas being tossed around here, and I'm sure everyone would agree that if it's a problem with the Yahoo! mail client or some type of security issue when receiving/viewing emails on multiple devices, the mail provider should be informed of the issue.  I found an outside resource on the Yahoo! site while researching the issue (How to report a problem). This method informs the mail provider of trends and perhaps they can make adjustments to help rectify these issues.
From what it sounds like, the issue is specific to Yahoo! and should be troubleshot, tested, adjusted, and escalated to the mail host. Perhaps there are settings that can be adjusted on the account for optimal performance on the device.
    Some other things to try:
    1) Try to download a different mail retrieval client from the Market (just type email in the search box, and you'll get plenty of hits).
    2) Try downloading the Yahoo! mail app from the Market to see if the errors persist there.
    3) Ensure mail retrieval clients accessing the same account do not interfere with the email setup on your Android device. This
mainly happens when desktop/pc software accesses the same email account as the Android device.
Please reply with any new info, troubleshooting steps, or breaking news regarding this email situation.

  • Email disappeared after opening and reading

Opened an email, read it, selected "return" (bottom left) and email was no longer on the Hub or in the Gmail acct. (on the Z10).  For sure I did NOT delete it.  As mentioned, this message was sent to me via Gmail.
My email normally works fine, no problem, but this is the 2nd time I've had this happen in the last several months.  Fortunately the email is on my computer, but it's a bit disconcerting, especially if I was out of town and computer not available.  Any ideas?

I've had that happen on every model of BlackBerry I've owned so far. Don't forget that while your computer might not be beside you, you should be able to check your emails via web mail on your BlackBerry’s browser.
    Cheers.

  • Sent emails disappearing from Apple Mail

Hello, I'm finding that sent emails are disappearing from my sent folder in Apple Mail. I was having this issue with the account's IMAP settings, so I've deleted the account and used the Exchange settings – same issue. It was working fine for a while, and then they've stopped saving in the sent folder altogether.
If I send emails through webmail, there's no issue.
    Machine / Software –
    OS X 10.10.2 on an iMac 21.5" 3.06Ghz Core i3 with 12GB of RAM

    Have exactly the same problem.
Sent six emails, without realising they wouldn't get saved in Sent Folder.
Moreover, i messaged one of the people i sent an email to and he told me the email did not arrive?

Try rebuilding the mailbox. This can take awhile if you have a lot of mail.

  • Clicking on Spotlight result for email opens Mail

    Hi all,
I have developed an issue with Spotlight (upper right hand corner of the bar) recently that was working just fine for a while.  I have Outlook 2011 Mac with an exchange account only.  It use to be that when searching through spotlight and I get a result that is an email I would click on that result and it would be opened in Outlook.  At some point this as stopped and now when I click on the email result it opens Mail.  Not sure what changed and I do not use Mail.
I have tried reindexing several times by various ways(adding private entry of / or by using commands in terminal) and it does not solve this issue.
If I save an email from outlook to the desktop and open it, it will open in outlook.
The strange thing that started at the same time is that I can no longer use the search box from within the Outlook client.  I get always get "No Data".  But I do get search results from email but using spotlight in upper right hand corner of the bar
    Running 10.7.2 and Outlook 14.1.3.
    MacBook Pro / Lion / 8Gig / Mid2010
Any help on this would be appreciated because this is crippling.
    Thanks John

    Hey jontara,
Try to boot your computer into Safe Boot. Test the problem there, if it works in Safe Boot, check System Preferences > Users and Groups > Login Items for your user. I would take all Login Items out and reboot to see if it persists.
If the issue still persists in safe boot, create a Test User and see if the issue happens in the test user.
From there we can determine if the issue is system wide or user specific and go from there.

  • EMail Disappears

Have a 3G 16GB iPhone. Several weeks ago a problem started. When I start my mail app, I get the normal "connecting", "checking for mail", and "downloading". My email appears for one or two seconds on the screen, then they disappear from the Inbox. I notice that if I quickly touch one to open it, they all stay and work fine. If I'm too slow, they all disappear. Sometimes I can go back to the main screen and relaunch the app but in most cases I have to power off and on. Anyone coming across this?

I have yet to hear of this issue, but here are a few things for troubleshooting purposes:
    1. Add another email account to your phone from a different provider. For example, if you are using "[email protected]" then add a "[email protected]" or a simple "[email protected]" and see if you get the same results. This will let you know if it is your email provider that is having the issue, or the phone itself.
    2. Remove the email account in question from your phone. Power off/on. Add the email account again, see if problem persists.
    3. After your email disappears, leave the mail app open and send yourself a test email from a desktop computer, see if that shows up.
    4. If you know someone else with an iPhone, add your email to it, and see if it works. This will tell you if its your iPhone or not.
