Emails display in Gmail from wrong sender on iPhone only

This is a weird one. iPhone 6 running 8.0.2. I've had every iPhone since 2007 and have never seen this before. My 6 has been rock solid since I picked it up on launch day.
I shipped a package via USPS, and signed up for tracking updates via email to my main Gmail account, which I've done 100 times. Yesterday morning I received one of the tracking emails...the sender displays as [email protected] in my inbox with the subject line as "USPS Shipment Info for <tracking number>". All good and normal.
Here's the weird thing - the next 6 emails received directly after that one ALSO display as coming from [email protected] with that same subject line, even though they are really from various senders - Groupon, BestBuy, MLB, etc. When I tap one of those messages to read it, it still shows the USPS sender and subject, but actual the body of the email is correct and as it should be - Groupon, BestBuy, etc. Restarting the phone had no effect.
When I view that Gmail inbox on my iPad or on a full browser on my desktop computer, those emails display properly, and don't have the rogue USPS info associated with them. Nothing has changed with this Gmail account, and this phone was set up from my iPhone 5's last backup, which never had this issue. All emails received since yesterday morning are behaving normally.
Do I call this a weird glitch and just move on? Has anyone seen anything like this, or have any idea what might have caused it? Thanks!

I did saw this on my phone when i first install iOS 8 on iPhone 5. But haven't see it after 8.0.1 or 8.1 update. It was rare though.
I do have this new issue on 8.1.1 that is somewhat related to this. I hope others can chime in.
I have gmail on my phone.
Delete a few emails from inbox.
then when i go into mail -> Accounts -> All Mail -> and move what i deleted back into Gmail inbox, 75% of the time, the moved email will have the wrong 'sender'. It will pick one of the recipient as a sender to display.
However, when i go into gmail from a desktop computer, it will show the CORRECT original sender.
I even restarted the phone and same error.
If I forward the email, the CORRECT original sender will be shown.
This bug does not happen on Yahoo or iCloud mail.
Is anyone having this issue?

I could not find anything about this in a search, and a visual scan of the discussions.
After two weeks of being shut down (vacation), and occasionally during that time accessing email through dotMac, I encountered the following when I restarted my home desktop.
Some of the emails have a body and a heading that do not match. The body, whether HTML or Rich Text, is clearly from a different email than the header. And, to emphasize, this is not ALL the email, only SOME of them (I cannot discern a pattern here!).
The same emails display just fine through the online dotMac Safari window, the body being from the corresponding sender (I keep them stored on the server).
So, something happens to SOME of the emails when downloading from the server to my computer. This body/header incongruity still happens to SOME emails that come through now, days after the initial restart.
Perhaps related - there were a lot of emails to download/sync. Mail crashed OFTEN until the accounts synced with the server. (I sent MANY crash reports to Apple). I worked through dotMac Mail in Safari to delete/read/respond/etc.; Mail finally quit crashing when the number of new emails was greatly reduced.
Observations? Solutions? Please Help!

No, I have never had a response that even offered a suggestion until just today. The problem never "self-corrected" - even though I use IMAP, those emails, when displayed on my computer had the incongruity between the header and the body as I described.
Since it has been up and going, all subsequent emails have been OK. It was just that initial restart/sync after the desktop had been shut down, for several weeks, and I had accessed the mail online while gone.
I see there is a post after yours about trashing the plist. Maybe I'll try that, but it seems to not be an issue now.

I can't email a photo directly from iPhoto. First, I only have two "themes" to choose from instead of 8, and when prompted to fill in the "to" and "from", the "from" box has "MobileMe" already in it, and I can't get rid of or change it. I have OSXLion

I understand, as that was the place I would change it before 8.3 but now that option of Mail Days to Sync is not available? Any idea why that would be?

Gmail won't send on iPhone 4

Have seen all the fixes for this to no avail. Been 4 weeks since I could send Gmail from the Mail app. Tried deleting and reloading, the Captcha setting, making sure POP forwarding is on in my Gmail settings, checking the password and re- entering it to be certain, using a different smtp server... Nothing works. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Just set up a new Gmail acct using Exchange and the same error message occurs: A copy has been placed in your Outbox. The sender address "[email protected]" was rejected by the server.

Gmail won't send on iPhone 4S/iOS 7.1

Just got a new iPhone and had problems connecting to Gmail. Someone here helped me out and got that problem fixed. Now it won't send. I get the message:
"Unable to send Email"
"A copy has been placed in your Outbox. The sender address "[email protected]" was rejected by the server."
So I have four emails in my outbox that I can't delete, and they won't send. I can receive email on the phone. I can send and receive email on my iPad and one my computer. So it is a setting in this phone that isn't configured right.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Ok - the problem is solved. I'm going to give you the solution so that you can help others in the future, because it is kind of a pain in the butt, and you mentioned that you didn't use gmail. Before I tell you, thanks for trying to help. It is appreciated.
So for some reason, if you use the built in mail applcation instead of the gmail app, AND if you have two-step authenticaiton turned on (which I do) you can not use your standard password. If you are not using two-step authentication, this is not a problem.
So, you have to go into your gmail account from a web browser, go into your two step authentication settings, and generate what is called an "application specific password." You give it a name. For example, I have one for my iPad, one for my iPhone, etc.
The problem I had was that I had put the applicaiton specific password in for checking mail, but not sending it, because it was marked as "optional" so I didn't think I needed it in both locations since all of my email popped up right away. So I generated a new password for the iPhone and put it in both incoming and outgoing email, and it worked.

How come when I try to sync photos from iTunes to my iPhone, only half the photos show up?

All of the photos are compatible (JPEG) for syncing, but only half of them are syncing onto my iPhone 4S.
I'm using iPhoto 11 to manage my photos.
Is there something wrong with the actual photos, iPhoto 11, or is it iTunes?

Do you have apps on your iPad that were purchased with a different iTunes account than the one you use on your computer?

Users have old emails showing as blank and from Unknown Sender

There is a an issue going on with the mail service and/or mail store (OS X Server 10.6.6) Users have old emails appear blank and from unkown sender in mail.app. This is the same when using squirrelmail for web access so the issue is definetly with the server. Does any body have any ideas?

It sounds like a spammer is using your email address to send their junk. There is nothing that you can do to stop it. They will get. Ores with you soon and move on. DO NOT open tthemselveshe attachments.

i'm using mail on osx 10.7 with multiple gmail accounts. when i create an email, i check to be sure i'm sending/replying from the correct account. after i send it, somehow it actually sends it from a different account, other than the one i've selected "from." this is evidenced by the reply email i receive. how can i fix this?
in preferences, i have "send new messages from : account of selected mailbox"

From the Mail menu bar, select
          Mail ▹ Preferences...
The Mail preference dialog opens. Select the Composing tab from the row of icons at the top. From the menu labeled
          Send new messages from:
choose
          Account of selected mailbox
Note that this setting may have no effect if you start a new message while a VIP or smart mailbox is selected in the mailbox list. Those are saved searches, not actual mailboxes.
If the problem remains, select the Accounts tab in the preference dialog, then select the affected account in the list on the left.
In the Account Information pane, select the correct server in the menu labeled
          Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
If there's only one server in the menu, select
          Edit SMTP Server List...
and add a new server with the correct settings. If you're not sure how to do that, try the Mail Settings Lookup.
Another possibility is that the wrong card in your address book is selected as yours. Select your card in the Contacts application. Then select
          Card ▹ Make This My Card
from the menu bar.

Mail sending from WRONG EMAIL

Hi. I'm using 2 gmail accounts and when I send an email from one, the user receives from my other account. It doesn't happen all the time, and has only been happening recently. It's strange because after the 1st time, I started checking that drop down box that asks which email I want to send from, and it is set correctly. This even occurs sometimes when I reply to an email, which by default will send emails from the address that the email was sent to. Also, I know something is wrong because 1 email address has a signature that states the email address it came from, while the other email address has no signature at all. When I get replies to the email I sent, it shows my signature, but is replied to my other email address. Has anyone else run into this issue? Are there any solutions? It's quite frustrating.

The pulldown menu in the message composition window that selects account doesn't select the smtp server for that account, you have to go into Mail Prefs to ensure which smtp server is associated with which account.
Go to Mail Prefs, Accounts and select each gmail account one at a time and check the following: In the Account Info panel, check that the outgoing mail server (smtp) is the one you think it should be.
I'm assuming that gmail requires a username/password to send a message; the server for each account would be listed something like: smtp.gmail.com:username1 for the first account and smtp.gmail.com:username2 for the second gmail account.
If they're not what they should be, open the outgoing mail server (smtp) pulldown menu and either select the correct server or choose "edit server list" and fix it. Also consider clicking the "use only this server" checkbox for both accounts.

Not sure about yahoo, but for gmail, I done the following:
Set up using Exchange on iPhone, it'll keep prompting for password. On PC use captcha option, log in to gmail account from PC after completingg captcha option, enter password on iPhone.
See how that goes for gmail, let us know.
Hopefully someone will have fix for yahoo.
