How do I stop receiving duplicate emails? Each one is doubled in my inbox.

Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
After having fixed all filesystem issues, if any, and making sure that there’s enough space available on the startup disk (a few GB, plus the space needed to make a backup copy of the Mail folder), try this:
1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Make a backup copy of this folder, just in case something goes wrong, e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down. This is where all your mail is stored.
3. Locate Envelope Index and move it to the Trash. If you see an Envelope Index-journal file there, delete it as well.
4. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be “imported”. Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index -- Mail says it’s “importing”, but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder.

as i recently tried to copy about 5000 eMails from one folder to another Mail crashed. after restart all the eMails were doubled! every "normal" eMail now has a twin which is "empty". means that Mail is showing me the following when i open the eMail:
"The E-Mail From Jon Doe <[email protected]> regarding „Help“ could not be loaded from the server. You need to connect this Account to the internet, to load the E-Mail."
i really dont know how to solve the problem. already tried to find an answer in several discussionboards, faq-sections and the support. it is not possible to create i.ex. an intelligent folder or a rule, because the doubled mails are empty. now i have a ten-thousand-eMail-chaos.
anyone an idea?

How to change email double screen on iPad?
Hi All,
As a new iPad user (familiar with iPhone), I am having trouble with the email function. On the iPhone it shows the mailbox screen only, or the selected email. The iPad shows both screens, as there is tons of room to do so. My problem is, I would like the right hand screen blank unless I have opened an email. It seems impossible to do this unless I move all the mail to a mailbox folder. Once I have done this, I can select a folder, choose an email, finish with it...and then what? I should have an option to "close" it. Do I have to re-file it with the folder icon? I don't want the last email I read staring at me all the time. Please help.
BichonloveThere is no way to do want you want to do. You can't close an email and have the mail app open to an empty window on the right - unless of course you use some workaround like you are doing now. That is one of the limitations of the iPad mail app.
Another way to do this - another workaround - is just keep and empty folder in the mail app and tap on that folder just before you leave the mail app. It's not a very elegant solution, but it works. And this only works if you have an IMAP email account and you can create additional mailboxes on the iPad.
Another caveat is that it only works if you leave the mail app (suspend it) and then come back to it. If you close the mail app completely, that will not work either. -
Email double in outbox livemail ipad
Hi - I installed Windows Live Mail at my iPad. Took some time, but it works. However in my SEND box it has all e-mails in duplo, recipients only receive once (fortunately). Anybody a clue what I could have done wrong?

Please check which Data file your current account is using:
File tab -> Account Settings ->
Data Files tab -> Check the data file name that your account is using, is it "Outlook data File" or something else?
Your account may have been set to use the "wrong" data file.
Hopefully this issue can be resolved by creating a new profile, then setup the account to check the result:

If the emails are still stuck in Outbox, please disable firewall and anti-virus program to check the result.

New horizontal email double view settings
How do I set up my iPhone 6+ to allow for the new view that allows the split screen view of emails, where the inbox is on the left and an open email text is on the right? I have seen it displayed in adverts, but my phone is not set up that way. Must be something in settings.

Thanks for the question. If you have Display Zoom enabled on your iPhone 6 Plus, some layout features will be disabled. These include the home screen icon rotation and app-specific layouts. Try disabling Display Zoom if it is enabled:

I have two gmail accounts. One is forwarded to the other as a backup. On ipad mail i see the same email double, while this does not happen on mac mail. How can i avoid seeing double without stop forwarding?
How many mail accounts do you have in Mail > Preferences > Accounts and what type are they (POP, IMAP, .Mac)?
If you click on the black triangle to the left of Inbox to disclose the individual account mailboxes, how many accounts do you see there? Do the duplicates appear in the mailbox of the same account or in different account mailboxes?
Do you have any custom rules? Disable all of them, and see whether that makes a difference. -
When I check the size of a .mov file in the finder it is 10.7 MB. When I add the file to an email Mail says it is 20 MB and the smtp server rejects the file because it is over the limit. Why does the email double in size?
When an attachment to an e-mail is sent, is converted using a method called "base-64 encoding" into plain text (electronic mail doesn't handle binary, just text). Using that method, every 6 bytes of data in your file is represented as as string of 8 printable (human readable) characters. Additionally, and end-of-line character is added after the 80th character. There's also a little bit that goes before the attachment and after it to indicate that there's an attachment and where the attachment starts and ends.
The practical upshot is that an attachment is ALWAYS just a little more than 33% bigger than the file it was created from.
Given that, your 10.7M attachment would probably balloon to 15,400,000,000 bytes or so. If the attachment was included in-line (you drag-and-drop). I don't know where the rest of it comes from. The headers for the e-mail message aren't likely to exceed 2K, and the HTML in the message (if sending as rich text) is only likely to increase the size of the text part maybe 1K + 2x the amount of text you put in there (and, I take it you didn't include a megabyte of text). -
When opening a pdf in gw2012 client, no associated program
Win7prosp1, when trying to open a pdf from an email (double click), I get this message, This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel. If I right click on the file and choose open with, it opens fine in adobe. I then log into the same machine with a different user, open an email, double click the pdf and it opens fine. The association is correct under associate a file type. This issue seems to be related to the user on t he machine. Have removed and reinstalled both Adobe and gwclient.
Has anyone run into this before?

This, and countless similar issues all revolving around file types and
windows... Your best bet is to grab something like process monitor from
sysinternals and check where exactly in the registry windows is looking
for the association. Or, of course, the pragmatic approach to just
create a new profile for this user.

There is a issue with the file type association. In the newest version I couldn't associate .an extension to adobe edge animate. This happend on multiple computers.

Problem in workflow (Selfitem) send mail
Hi,
The workflow I am working on requires sending of a notification email to the administrator. For that I have been asked to use the Object type as SELFITEM and method as SENDTASKDESCRIPTION.
1) Can anyone give me the documentation that automatically configures the mail using Selfitem.
2) What are the fields I need to pass to the SENDTASKDESCRIPTION method?

It is simple. Here you will have to go to tcode pftc.Since sending the mail is a standard task you will create a standard task. U will then add the BOR object type in the screen area as SELFITEM and the method as SendTaskDescription.U also need to trigger this task if its a standalone task. If it is being called as a step in the workflow builder then you will create a step in workflow template as send email.double click on the step it will take u to a new screen there u enter the task created above in pftc and assign appropriate reciver in your case the administrator.

Is Mail a little buggy this time around ?? (10.4.6)
Powerbook G4 1.67Ghz - 2Gb ram- 10.4.6 (all up to date, no bugs, running fine, repaired disk permissions, etc....)
Mail issue -
(I never had this problem before going to .6) - I have 6 email accounts, NO signatures for anyone of them. I then create a signature for one of them under its accounts name (not under "all"), choose the signature name as what I want this account to "choose" when making a email, double check, I have 1 signature under the account name set up correctly, I also now have 1 signature under "All Signatures", it is correctly the same signature I just created AND the same name (obviously).
I then close up preferences, and for good measure quit mail, and relaunch. I highlight my account I just created a signature for, pick "new" to make a new email, and viola, the signature is there, as I asked, as I set up, send the email, everything great.
GREAT , everything working properly right ? NO, check this out.
#1- I noticed something odd even though it was working when in the email window I was making, my signature chooser was on "none", but yet my signature showed up. I could not choose the name of the signature because it wasn't even there as a choice, there was just "none" !! Weird, but my signature was there in the actual email, so no big deal....... BUT THEN ---
#2- I then decide to choose to email from another account (or quit mail and relaunch- happened twice), send a email with no signature, did, no big deal.
THEN chose my other account ( that I made a signature for) to create a another email, and my signature isn' there ! It also (because it never was) isn't able to be chosen in the signature chooser on the email window, still just "none"... HERE IS THE WEIRD PART that has happened now like 10 times, I then open preferences, go back to "Signatures" and under the accounts name from which I created this signature, it says 0 signatures !!! I was like *** ??, BUT under "All Signatures" it says I have 1 signature, and it IS the signature !!??!! -- WEIRD--
I then have no way of picking it and assigning it back to my account for which I made it for, PLUS even though its there under "All", I have no way of choosing to use that signature in a email composition...
The only way out of it is I constantly have to copy it from the "All Signatures" place and paste it into the account I want it for. It then lasts until I either quit and relaunch Mail, OR until I choose another account then come back....

My order history says that I have been emailed my activation key but all that I can find that I have been sent is an 8 digit code that looks like this XXXXXXX/X. However when when I select authorise from wihtint Aperture it only seems to want a serial number. However the only serial number which I have been sent was the serial number for the trial version. Certainly I can not find an option to 'activate': just to 'authorise'. Have I looked in the wrong place? How does this work?
The key you need is a serial number. If you purchased online and you got an email, double check the web receipt and also double check the email; it's there, but it's not as obvious as it could be.

Can't delete a Mailbox and Can't see the message
1. I inadvertently created a mail box twice for the same e-mail. I tried to delete one of them and it acts like it's been deleted but when I close and re-open Mail it's still there? Any ideas ?
2. I have 2 e-mails waiting to be read but nothing shows on the lower portion of the window (as in Outlook Express). I tired clicking on OPEN and nothing appears. Any idea ?

Nancyto be able to view in the preview pane, go to the bottom of your mail window, you should see a line with a dot in the middle, grab that dot and drag the line up, maybe to half way up the window or anywhere else feels comfortable for viewing, the release. you should now have the preview pane in the bottom of the window, and the email list for the mailbox you have selected.
to open an email, double click on it, and a separate window for that email will pop up.
what type of mailbox is this, for what type of account? and did yo just select the mailbox and go to mailbox>delete mailbox?

Unable to attach address from address book, from, to and subject greyed out

I have just updated my copy to the latest version and after a few days of perfect use I am now unable to use my address book with an outgoing message.
When I go in to the ‘Write’ the To:, Subject and all other areas to enter addresses are blank. When I try to double click on the address from the contact addresses nothing happens. When I click in the To: row and other rows, they become clear to enter names but not from any of my address books.Goto "WRITE"
*Right click on the Menu > Choose "Customize"
*Drag and Drop the Contact to the Menu.
Check the Contact and it enables in left sidebar.
*Search for the email
*Double click on the Name/Email to add the "Write : To/CC/BCC"

*Right click on the Name/Email, it list the option to ADD
