Emails keep coming back when deleted and marked as spam

I've got iPhone and iPad, both upgraded to iOS 7.1.2
I'm using several IMAP email accounts and on all of them I'm getting a very annoying problem.
When I delete or mark as SPAM an email, then it keeps reappearIng in the Inbox.
As far as I read on the Web, this is a well known and unsolved problem that many users experienced for the last 2-3 years.
How the **** is possible that Apple is unable to fix this bloody bug?!?
Did someone find a solution?
Many thanks in advance

Apple does not monitor these USER-TO-USER support forums
All support comes from other users like you
Usually when a post gets no response no one knows the answer, or there isn't enough information provided to make a guess, or the question has been asked and answered so frequently that a simple search would find the answer
Insulting the people who volunteer their time to help other users is not a strategy that would encourage anyone to respond.

  • I got a new email but ol email keeps coming up when i go to get an app but it wont let me in with my old password and if i go to get newpassword it sends it to my new email

I GOT A NEW EMAIL BUT OLD EMAIL KEEPS COMING UP WHEN I GO TO GET AN APP BUT WHEN I GO TO CHANGE
MY PASSWORD IT SENDS IT TO MY NEW EMAIL.

    Hi jackburkholder,
You will need to delete the iCloud account with your old ID, but before you can do that, you will have to go back into Manage Your Apple ID, and change your Apple ID back to the old address. Don't worry about verifying it, you just need to change it.
Then, go into Settings>iCloud and turn off Find My iPhone (it will ask you for a password - put in your current one to turn it off). Then, scroll down to the bottom of the screen and Delete the iCloud account using your current password.
Also go into Settings>iTunes & App Store, clidk on your old ID and sign out of iTunes.
Then go back to Manage Your Apple ID and put your new Apple ID back in.
Go back to Settings>iCloud and sign on with your new Apple/iCloud/iTunes ID.
Go back into Settings>iTunes & App Store and sign on with your new Apple/iCloud/iTunes ID.
    Cheers,

Deleted emails keep coming back on my ipad air

    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
No data is lost due to a reset.

  • Old emails keep coming back

I am using Mail on a macbook pro with retina display, running OS X 10.9.5.  Recently, duplicates of old emails keep coming back into my inbox - unread, as if they were brand new emails.  They always come a handful at a time.  They show the original dates of receipt, so they appear way down in my inbox and I have to sort by 'unread' to bring them to the top and delete them.  There seems to be no rhyme or reason - e.g. some are from contacts, some aren't, some I deleted when I originally received them, some I kept, some I replied to, some I didn't.  Any ideas on how to stop this happening?

    Cool.
First, when it finds the OLD messages can you actually open them up? If so, you can/should rebuild your Trash Mailbox. I suspect you cannot open the old message though, which points to your Envelope INDEX being messed up.
Quit Mail. Then, under ~/Library/Mail is a file called Envelope Index. Move it to the Trash. Or if that makes you nervous, drag it to the desktop. Open Mail. It will give you a message that will scare you -- a Welcome to Mail or a Mail Message Import window will pop up. This is fine. It will tell you it is importing your mail. Really it sees all your mailboxes but no index so it is creating that index.
See if that doesn't fix your problem.

  • How to delete a junk mail that keeps coming back after deleting it from the junk box?

I have a junk mail from February that I really want to delete but it keeps coming back after deleting it several times. It comes back in the junk mail as 'read'.
    How should I remove it?
Thanks for your help in advance!

If the email provider is Google, try going to the gmail web portal, (log on from a computer or your iPad using safari), and manually delete the contents of your junk and trash.
I did this today, and the reappearing junk has not (as of yet) reappeared.  Knocking on wood.

  • Why do my deleted emails keep coming back into my inbox?

I upgraded to Maverick last week and now I can't delete any of my emails.  They keep coming back into my inbox after I try to delete them.  Help!

Make sure you have option set to delete from server when read. Otherwise they will keep coming back.

  • Can not delete my emails. The same emails keep coming back instantly

I can not delete email messages. The same messages keep coming back instantly.

What seems to have worked for other users in the past.
Delete, then reinstall the email account
    Then sync the iPad.
No one knows why, but it often fixes the problem.

  • Deleted emails keep coming back

This seems like a common problem, but I've yet to see a solution. I'm on an iPhone 4, and whenever I delete emails, they constantly return 2 to 3 times before finally staying deleted.
My emails come through my personal site account on godaddy, (secureserver.net), and all my settings seem to be correct to delete emails from the server when deleted from my phone. I've reset settings, restarted phone, updated, etc etc etc. Nothing seems to stop this from happening. I know it's not THAT big of a deal, since I can delete them AGAIN, but it is really frustrating.

Having the Same issue. @#$%ing annoying. My pop account worked fine for like 3 weeks, and then the mail program started doing this. POS.

  • Deleted emails keep coming back since the last big update on my macbook pro

Ever since the update that removed the ability to work with spaces on my mac, I have had issues with deleted emails coming back, even after deleting more than once.  Very frustrating.
Side note:  I preferred using the spaces function when moving from email to internet to other programs.  Not a huge fan of the updated function.

Problems such as yours are sometimes caused by files that should belong to you but are locked or have wrong permissions. This procedure will check for such files. It makes no changes and therefore is not, in itself, a solution.
First, empty the Trash, if possible.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combinationcommand-C:
    find ~ $TMPDIR.. \( -flags +sappnd,schg,uappnd,uchg -o ! -user $UID -o ! -perm -600 \) 2>&- | wc -l | pbcopy
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run.
Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear.
The output of the command will be a number. It's automatically copied to the Clipboard. Please paste it into a reply.
The Terminal window doesn't show the output. Please don't copy anything from there.

  • Deleted Emails Keep Coming Back -- WHY has this not been fixed?

    Settings on iPhone:
    Mail Type:  POP
Deleted Messages = After One Day
Delete from Server = Whn removed from inbox
    iOS:  5.1.1
Okay.....this is ridiculous, if you search the web you find hundreds of people complaining about this problem and not one offers any type of solution.  This never happened on my Blackberry.  This ONLY started happening again a few weeks ago on the iPhone.
I have NOT changed any settings anywhere as it relates to email.  This is just annoying when you are trying to work and you get buzzed to only find the same ones deleted are back again.
Is there a FINAL solution to this problem Apple.
    Thanks to all who respond.

If it used to work properly you could try deleting and recreating the account on your phone to see if that would help.  Otherwise you might have to contact godaddy support to see if they know if their server will honor the settings on your phone.

  • Deleted emails keep coming back (3.0.1)

    Hi
Since installing 3.0.1 any emails I delete return after reboot.
I delete any new emails from my inbox. I then empty my trash for that account.
If I then swith off the phone completely (say, overnight) and then switch it back on, all the emails are back and my trash is full again.
These emails definitely no longer exist on the mail server, so aren't being downloaded again.
Does anyone else have this problem?
More importantly, anyone know how to fix it?
    Thanks
    Mr M

Apple please come up with a fix for this!
I am in the same boat as misterm2009. Since last night I have been unable to delete the emails in one of my iPhone email accounts. They show up as new emails but when I try to delete them, either by 'edit' or going to the message and 'trashcanning' it they go but then just reappear as new messages. During the deletion I might be lucky and delete all 6, now 7, of them but more often than not the screen blanks during the process and returns me to the main iPhone home page. Any emails that looked like they had been deleted just reappear as new emails on the icon at the bottom.
I am running os 3.1 and due to a running issue with my previous 3G iPhone am loathe to update to 3.1.2. It kept crashing during update and then was unable to restore....became a useful paperweight! Apple finally thought the phone had a glitch but could not guarantee it.
I have carried out a phone reset by holding the 2 buttons down, deleted offending email account and re-entering the details and I think the phone was restored at one point today but still they come back!!!!! I have checked and they are not on the server and are not continuously appearing in MS Outlook.
Any ideas all you very knowledgeable, helpful people? Especially Apple support!
    Cheers

  • 29.0 is too slow and keeps coming back when using 28.0 Grrrrr!

29.0 was too jerky and too slow. I reinstated 28.0 and it was fine until 29 reinstalled on its own. I have checked about:config and everything everywhere was set to keep it from reverting back but it did anyway. Sorry to sound rude, but what gives? I've been dealing with this since it changed over. We should still be able to choose, right?

    Hi Shirley,
If Firefox 29 is going slow, you can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox (you need to close and restart Firefox).
*Click the new 3 bar menu > Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
As for the updates, usually changing settings in about:config helps. Are you doing anything to make Firefox do an update such as going to Help > About Firefox? There was a previous way by going through the Options menu to disable updates but after disabling it through there, when you would go to Help > About Firefox, it would update regardless of that setting. There's a few ways to do this although I do all of them to prevent updates just in case one of the updates slip through.
You can set these prefs in <code>about:config</code> to disable automatic updating:<br>
    app.update.auto - false<br>
    app.update.enabled - false<br>
    app.update.silent - false<br>
You can also follow our steps listed in our Knowledge Base
    *https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-stop-firefox-automatically-making-connections#w_auto-update-checking
You can set the app.update.url prefs to an empty string on the about:config page to prevent Firefox from checking for updates. (see screenshot below) Just erase everything from those prefs.

  • Moved or deleted emails keep coming back to Mail inbox

Since Maverick installation, I have been trying to keep my folders from various email accounts organized like in the good old days of Lion but Mail keeps moving my emails back to the original inbox each time I try to either delete or move one of the emails (it usually happens after 3-5 minutes). So much time wasted every day... How to fix please? Thanks.

Just wondering if you have the latest Mail update. This may fix the issue.
    Hope this helps
