Emails keep disappearing from inbox on iPhone and ipad

Emails are being deleted as soon as I open my email folder and I have to read them in the deleted folder.
I cannot find anywhere in settings to change this.
Any advice please?

i had the same problem. but i noticed that once your laptop email downloads the email it will go from your inbox in the iphone. it is this new setting from hotmail. you cannot do anything. but if u have anothe email address like gmail or icloud.
first go to hotmail account setting from browser in your computer. in the setting you will see email forwarding. type in the alternate email address like gmail or icloud. u will receive email on those account which has come from hotmail. and gmail and icloud stays on the iphone.

Actually you can set it to a 1000. But anyway i solved my problem. I had to set the days to sync from unlimited to 30 days.

My emails keep disappearing from all devices--MacBook Air, iPhone, iPad as well as our archair Sony VAIO w/Windows XP. We use Comcast, a "POP" account. All settings have been changed to never delete, empty trash after 90 days, etc., per Apple, AT&T and Comcast "techs". To where are they going? Can they be retrieved? Why does this keep happening? How can we prevent this from happening?

Is there a category for the dissappearing emails? Do they have anything in common? Have you tried refreshing the inbox?
Another possiblity is that since Macs and iPhones categorize mail a little differently, try going the the "all mail" section. You can find it under your account mail. That is, instead of going to your inbox, you go under there, where is says "accounts" and shows all your accounts, including the icons for each mail service. There should be a group saying "all mail" if you use google. Let me know if you find the disappearing mails.

I have tried to rebuild the mailbox to no avail. The mailbox behavior says: Drafts (not checked) store draft messages on the server, Notes (checked) show not in Inbox, Sent (checked) Store sent messages on the server Delete sent messages when (option never selected), Junt (not checked) store junk messages on the server Delete junk messages when (option never selected), Trash (checked) moves deleted messages to the Trash mailbox and (checked) store deleted messages on the server Permanently erase deleted messages when (one month old option selected).
I have not set up any rules that I know of other than a signature, in the very least I have not changed any.

This is an easy fix. You indicate that you get these emails just fine on your desktop, so they are not getting lost. They are just not making it to your iPhone or iPad. This tells me that you need to change the preferences of the accounts on your desktop machine. Each account will have a setting for what to do with mail on the server after you have checked it. The choices are to leave on the server, or to delete it.
If you have it set to delete, it won't be there when you later go check your mail from your mobile device. Most of the people I see post here with email issues have the opposite problem from you. They check their email from the phone during the day, then can't get it on the desktop later. It sounds like your iPhone and iPad are already set to leave on server.
All you have to do is go into your mail client on the desktop and in the individual preferences for each account change this setting. You may also want to check how you have deleted mail set up. It also can be set to be removed immediately, at a later time (like a week, month), or never. If you have it set to delete it won't be in your trash folder.

This usually happens because iCloud only keeps photo stream photos for 30 days (even though your last 1000 photos will remain on your phone until deleted). When you enabled photo stream on your Mac you only received photo stream photos from the last 30 days.
To get older photos to your Mac, create a shared photo stream containing them and invite yourself as a subscriber (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmc0cd7e99). The be sure you check Shared Photo Streams in iPhoto>Preferences>Photo Stream. You can then import them to your iPhoto library by opening the shared photo stream album in iPhoto, then going to Edit>Select All, Control-clicking on any of the selected photos and selecting Import.

This is being caused by using the same Apple ID for iMessage and FaceTime on both phones. To separate your messages, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and do one of the following:
Either uncheck the email address shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at" on both phones; or
If you want to continue to receive iMessages at this email address, on one of the two phones, tap the Apple ID at the top, sign out, then sign back in using a different Apple ID.
For FaceTime, on one of the phones go to Settings>FaceTime tap the ID shown, sign out, then either leave it that way or on sign back in using a diffferent ID.

ICal syncing from desktop to iPhone and iPad is a nightmare

I have a mid-2011 MBA running Mountain Lion, an iPhone 5C, and an iPad 2.
I use the Lightning add-on for Thunderbird for a calendar, but it is buggy. I really want to go back to iCal so I can have my calendar on my phone and on my iPad, but syncing is a nightmare. I cannot find any plain language information on the rationale behind why syncing works the way it does so that I can figure out how to make it work correctly.
What I want:
iCal desktop to be my primary calendar and to sync all updates to my iPad and iPhone. If I add an update on my iPad or iPhone, I want it to show up on iCal the next time I connect my device to the computer.
What actually happens:
iCal desktop is the secondary calendar. Anything that happens on the iPad and iPhone is more important. If I add an iCal event on the desktop app while I am connected to my iPhone and iPad, the events I create disappear because they do not exist on the iPad and iPhone. If I create them when the devices are not connected, when I do connect I either lose the events or they get triplicated.
I do not use iCloud to sync, only iTunes by checking 'sync calendars.' I have given up on ever making iCloud syncing work for anything. Last time I tried it, it just deleted all my books, music, movies, etc. (thank goodness for Time Machine backups) and quadrupled all my calendar events...
Can someone please take pity on me and explain how to make syncing

Email accounts won't sync between iPhone and iPad

I can't figure out why email account syncing between my iPhone and iPad stopped? For instance, if I delete a message in one of my email accounts on my iPhone it doesn't delete it on my iPad? Any help or suggestions is much appreciated!

same thing happened to me. multiple accounts, not syncing calendars. everything worked until this morning. noticed sync icon rotating last night and iphone is not set up to wi-fi sync, nor do I have an outlook account at all.

That purchased additional storage in your iCloud account. Call the Apple online store for a refund if you don't need it (1-800-MY-APPLE in the U.S. and Canada).
The app store says that particular app is 296MB, which is large, but if you have 15GB available you have more than enough. Make sure you are getting the available storage number from here:
If you are, try force closing the App store app by double-tapping the home button, locating the App store in the list, swiping up on the image above the icon to close it, then tapping the home button again. Then lauch the app store and try purchaing the app again.

Are you using Apple Mail? Gmail App? Are you using a personal address "@me.com"?
To give you a generalized answer. If your using a Pop Server (You have emails downloaded to each individual device via pop.emailprovider.com) in Apple Mail. Its possible that you have a setting causing emails to delete from your device, not the server where your emails are stored. If you can view your emails on more than one computer, then the emails are stored on your server. My recommendation would be to use an IMAP server setup if possible.
If you could answer some of my questions, I would be happy to help you more. It appears to be an issue with the device deleting local emails downloaded to it, rather than the emails deleting server side.

You can start a new Apple ID, just understand all purchases made under an Apple ID are forever associated with that ID and can't be switched to a new one.
The requirements of an Apple ID is that it be from a valid email account.

Since many apps are free, they can be repurchased free with a new Apple ID.
If you purchased valuable apps under your ID, get a new one for your daughter. Or visa versa.
You can continue to keep them in one computer library which will allow you to sync them to all devices.
Updates will require the Apple ID and password from the purchasing Apple ID.
