Emails keep downloading again after being deleted

Hi,
I have just bought an iphone 3GS 8gb and set up my email account which is the same as the one on my pc (POP3 btinternet) when I delete an email or all of them all of the ones that I have already opened and deleted download again? (set to 25 latest) not just any new ones...how do I set it stop this and just get the new ones?
I have my email account set to leave a copy on the server (Outlook)and this doesnt keep reloading deleted emails??
Help please as I am new to apple and iphones

When creating a POP account with a new email client, all new messages that remain at the incoming mail server for the account will be downloaded as new and unread messages regardless if the messages have already been downloaded as new and unread messages with another email client - in the case with Outlook on your PC. This has nothing to do with Apple and the iPhone. The same would occur after creating a POP account with any new email client. This is the nature of a POP account. Although it is possible to access a POP account with more than one email client, a POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only. All messages that remain at the incoming mail server with a POP account will be downloaded as new and unread messages - the same would occur if you deleted and recreated the account with Outlook on your PC.

  • Emails keep downloading, even after deleting

    Help please.
I install new IO7 on my Iphone 5 and it has downloaded around 15k of my work emails taking up massive 6GB space. Is anyway possible I can change setting to keep latest 50/100 emails only.
I can not delete my work emails from server. The server is provided by GoDaddy.
I have tried twice to delete older emails but it immediately download again. It is frustrating and seems I have to change phone if it is not resolved soon.
I wonder what apple was thinking about business people when designing this new IO7 ?

My machine has just developed this problem too.
The answer that's usually given is to remove the "MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded3" files in /User/Library/Mail/V2/MailData but this only seemed to work temporarily - the problem recurred and every few hours, hundreds of emails (deleted from the web server, deleted from my machine) re-appear in the in-box.
It's a webmail POP account (eircom.net) and the behaviour started right after Mail asked for the password again - was this some kind of hacking going on? Why would Mail suddenly require the password after years of not asking?

  • I keep getting the emails downloaded again after I delete them from one user

When I delete the email messages from one of my neighbors the messages keep coming back as new mail in the in box. Mail from other sources is fine. This happens to both my wife's and my emails.

    For IMAP mail only
    Delete message permanently
Settings>Mail......>tap the little arrow on right of mail account>Archive Messages>OFF
You can't set it to less than 50 Recent Messages.

  • Why does my emails keep downloading after deleting them?

Why does my emails keep downloading after deleting them?

It sounds like you may be "synced" to an IMAP email server with your ISP.  You would need to go into Mail>Preferences and set the messages to be removed from the IMAP server after some period of time so they don't redownload to your computer.  That's one possiblility.  Another is if you are synced with iCloud, then the mail is stored on your iCloud server backup and will redownload until you remove it.
    Hope this helps

  • I downloaded ios7 after being asked to restore. But now my phone wont connect to the activation server and is asking to restore again but I cant because itunes does not show any of my phone information

I downloaded ios7 after being asked to restore. But now my phone wont connect to the activation server and is asking to restore again but I cant because itunes does not show any of my phone information (it just shows a blank white screen with "iphone" in the centre".

I imagine a ton of people are attempting to activate after the update, and the server is getting overloaded. Simple patience, maybe keep trying, and if possible, try a little later. Think of it as all those people lining up at Apple Stores + about a million more.

  • HT204003 how do I permanently delete a pass from my passbook account? (It keeps reappearing after being deleted.)

I have a pass in passbook that keeps reappearing after being deleted. It pops up (location sensitive) despite the fact that I have disabled the location services, repeatedly. I need to permanently delete it.

    Hi, sophiaskoub.
Thank you for the question.  The most common cause for this is having Automatic Downloads enabled on the secondary computer.  See the first article on how to disable this feature.  The other attached articles cover how to delete media from iTunes and hiding any purchases that have been made.

  • Why i keep seeing email on iphone, even after i deleted it directly from the server?

Why i keep seeing email on iphone, even after i deleted it directly from the server?
This means it doesnt sync the server inbox, only keeps pushing new emails!
How to force it to realy sync every time the server inbox, and just show me in the iphone inbox exactly what i see in the server inbox???

I'm just fresh in iOS, but dont think its a POP/IMAP matter.
Always used mobile push email apps on symbian and android with POP and never had this issue.
    My usual former scheme is:
    a) My main email client is Outlook at my laptop (POP). This one is the master email client and after download new emails deletes them at the server.
    b) My secondary is a mobile email client (also POP) - just to see whats going on and maybe reply here and there.
Meaning, laptop does cut/paste and mobile does copy/paste
    So:
    a) If i download a new email first using my laptop, it will never be pushed latter from iphone (its not there anymore).
    b) If i download a new email first using my mobile app, and only then download it with laptop, it is still there available, and then gets deleted at the server.
    c) If i download a new email first using my mobile app and if i manualy delete it and then perform another sync, then this email is deleted at server, and will be no more available for download to laptop.
    Resuming:
1- The laptop ask to server what's in the inbox, downloads it all and then order the server to kill them all.
2- The iphone only ask whats new and downloads it all.
3- The iphone SHOULD ask server what's new, AND ask server what was removed from server inbox since last sync, AND tell server wich emails were removed at iphone since last sync.
As far i remember, at least one symbian app called Profimail does all this quite perfectly...
    Any ideas?

  • Emails in my 'trash' are being deleted after about 5 weeks, but I want to retain them. I have elected 'never' on the 'permanently erase deleted messages' option, so I'm not sure why this happening?

emails in my 'trash' are being deleted after about 5 weeks, but I want to retain them. I have selected 'never' on the 'permanently erase deleted messages' option, so I'm not sure why this happening? any ideas?

iCloud emails in the Trash are deleted after 30 days on the website, and this over-rides the 'never' setting in Mail. There is no way of stopping this. (The Trash isn't really intended as a permanent storage area.)
Try this workaround. Go to http://www.icloud.com and go to the Mail page. In the sidebar, click on '+' to the right of 'Folders' to create a new folder; give it a suitable name.
Now click on the cogwheel icon at bottom left. At the bottom of the pane which opens, set the 'Move deleted messages to' drop-down menu to your new folder.
I'm not sure whether, when you delete messages in the Mail application, they will go to the Trash or your new folder - you'll need to experiment. I have a nasty feeling that Mail will simply move them to the Trash as before. If this is the case you will have to move them to your new folder manually - dragging messages directly to this folder rather than hitting the delete key will be the easiest way.

  • Old comcast emails keep downloading in to my mailbox

After I updated my software to iOS 5.1 I had to do a full restore.  Since then old comcast emails keep downloading to my mailbox 50 at a time.  I have two other email accounts on my phone and neither one of them have updated old deleted emails.  I am tired of having to delete these old emails.  Help!!

When you restored, the accounts were recreated. This is normal with a POP account - when an existing POP account with received messages that remain at the incoming mail server. All received messages that remain at the incoming mail server will be downloaded as new and unread messages when creating the account with a new email client or when the account is recreated.
The same doesn't occur with an Exchange or IMAP account. A POP account is an antiquated account type.
