Emails lost in cyberspace???

I've read on the .mac website that a "small" percentage of .mac users have experienced troubles the last days with their mail accounts, being impossible to retreive their new emails. Supposedly, those emails would arrive with some delay... someday. That doesn't happen!
This is more serious that it appears: clients and friends are asking since 3 weeks ago me why I don't answer their emails, that... I have never received until today!
What can I do??? Is there anybody outthere suffering and angry like me???

I too have had some email sent to my .mac address "lost"
Unfortunately, Mac does not bounce them, which might help the sender know it was rejected; rather Mac simply discards them, making it nearly impossible to know what happened.
A call to Mac from me proved totally useless. I needed to get in contact with someone who was knowledgable with the SMTP and POP servers that Mac uses. The person I was speaking to hung up on me when I informed him that he did not understand my question or problem.
I have not solved this Mac problem: I have since opened a new mail account with another ISP who has a far better spam blocking program than Mac uses.
Mac seems to want to prevent direct contact with any of their technicians who understand problems such as these.

    Pls help me! I believe my Mail started to behave strangely when I update the latest security patch or OSX to 10.4.5 ... am using Mail 2.0.7 now...

    1.feeling something wrong, I called up my Mail server hosting company to check my mail and they say nothing is wrong.
    2. I do a roundtrip testing, by sending email from my own account to my own account. I send out about 10 over mail... nothing was received.
    3. I do a disk verification using Disk Utility. No error detected.
    4. Decided to download a third-party email client program to test, IT'S WORK!
    I can use other email client program to send out and able to receive!
    Conclusion is, if I use Mail to send out my email, it will send out but eventually disappear before reaching the recipient. Something must be wrong with my System or Mail... but I've run out of idea on how to solve it...am getting very desperate at the current situation... hopefully there are some genius or knowledgable kind soul fellow that can help me on this mystery error... hereby, thanks alot fto anyone who offer their help to me. greatly appreciated.

    Nothing in any update should have caused this, and clearly has not for most people -- therefore we should seek an answer aside from waiting for some unknown update.
    What type of account do you have -- POP, IMAP or .mac. In Mail Preferences, what are the selections in Mailbox Behaviors for this account?
    In the Finder, open Home/Library/Mail/Mailboxes -- is there an Outbox.mbox folder, and is it represented by a blue Icon? At Home/Library/Mail/this account folder, are there both a Drafts.mbox folder, and Sent Messages.mbox folder, and are both blue icons?

  • How can I recover all my MAIL emails lost after upgrading to TIGER?

    Hello,
    I just bought Mac OSX Tiger today and after upgrading from the previous Mac OSX and after launching Mail, I discovered that all my INBOX emails were LOST!!!
    I still have the Draft emails, the Sent emails and Trash but no trace of my 1,425 ancient and precious INBOX emails!
    Please help me recover them. I tried lots of ways to get them back but cannot find them. I'd like to also understand what happened.

    HI Greta, Did you Clean Install Tiger, or Upgrade from a previous OS? as if the latter, you might find them in the ARchived files.
    I upgraded to Tiger in December and it caused problems with mail but I didnt lose the messages. So I am thinking you did a clean install.

  • Email - lost information

    Hi, you are dealing here with a person that doesnt have a clue when it comes to trouble shooting !! I was having problems with certain websites and was recommended to try firefox as my computer may need updating. I have done so, and all the websites now work, and its perfect. The only problem I have now, is my email doesnt seem to be working. I can sign in to tiscali as normal, my password works, however all my emails have been lost and I cannot access them, and with regards to new mails it states 'un-defined mail' and I cannot access them. I tried to send myself an email as a test but it wont go through, the system just freezes. I was not having any problems with email prior to changing over to firefox, so any suggestions ???     I lost a significant number of contact e-mail addresses due to this sync bug. The contacts had multiple email addresses listed (home and work at least) and after syncing I am left with one e-mail address per contact and that address is now flagged as "other" rather than work or home. This is really unacceptable functionality. I don't know how to store more than one email address per contact and maintain a sync'ed backup on my computer.
    Steps to reproduce are as described by ScottMozz in the first post for this issue, but I wanted to add detail on how data was lost during the sync.

  • Emails lost from inbox

    i have a several pop accounts. i have lost all my emails from the inbox of one of them. I did not change any of the preferences. I did not try to delete any accounts. I did not try to move any emails from or into the box. Well, I don't think I did any of them, unless there is a short cut hot key combination that I had inadvertantly pressed. I checked my trash. The mail was not there. I have efax exclusively in my business account so I did a search for a for "efax" in all my mailboxes. That eliminates the possibility that I moved my mail to another box. I rebuilt my mailbox, and still nothing. I went into the mail folder in the user accounts and opened the inbox directly by clicking on the inbox file I found there. The emails still did not show up. I looked at the size of that file and it was only 5.1Mb (I assume the file size is connected to the amount of mail since most of the other emails don't receive attachments and are smaller in size), when there should be a whole lot more there. Does Mail automatically delete mail from the in box? I did not set that preference. I can't be a memory problem since I have a mailbox that has been in use for nearly 5 years and gets more traffic yet everything is still in tact for that account. What could have happened? How do I get my mail back? I'm at my wit's end. Please, help me!

    The Mail.app does not automatically delete messages from an account's Inbox mailbox - there is no preference setting available to do this.
    What is your hard drive capacity and available free space?
    Quit Mail first and using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Mail > this POP account named folder (named by the user name and incoming mail server for the account) > INBOX.mbox.
    Move the INBOX.mbox to the Desktop.
    When re-launching Mail, a new INBOX.mbox will be created automatically by Mail within the account named folder. This will prevent losing any new messages received by this account while working on the old INBOX.mbox moved to the Desktop which may have some corruption.
    Control-click on the old INBOX.mbox moved to the Desktop and at the menu window that appears, select Show Package Contents.
    List the package content file names and size of each here.

    During a recent update, I seem to have lost quite a number of emails from one account. I made the same update to my iPhone and had no problems there.
    Is there anyway I can transfer the emails from my phone to replace the lost ones on my iPad?

    I checked OS 10.7.3 because that's all that was available, but it should be 10.7.4

    Since last night, my device suddenly lost my bell/blackberry email account. Lost icon, lost the account. Cant seem to restore it. I cant even send an email from another to my bberry account... Bell cant help me, seems like its lost, Just like that... Is there a way to repair?

  • Exchange emails lost when sent w/o connectivity?

    Hello,
    Are others losing messages when composing and sending emails via Exchange ActiveSync and hit "send" only to find out that they are in an area without coverage and it disappears? The message does not appear in drafts, sent folder, or the outbox. Running iPhone 2.0 on a first gen iPhone.

    Yes, that has happened repeatedly to me ever since I first got the phone, and not necessarily through ActiveSync.
    BUT, in my case, the other people are getting the emails. Still, it's EXTREMELY irritating to have the message "disappear" and not show up in the sent folder.
    So, at least for me, this isn't a new issue and I haven't noticed it happening more now that I have my Exchange synced to my iphone.
    But I went to Montana last week, where there is no AT&T presence (you hook up to a "partner") and what you described happened over and over again, but mostly with my non-Exchange accounts.

  • How do I restore address book and emails lost when I upgraded to current version?

    First, I am not a tech savvy guy, so please be patient with me.
    Last Friday, my email stopped. Message on the screen said "Inbox is full. Delete unwanted messages to make room" etc.
    First, I went to Help/Tools and upgraded to the newest version. That did not solve the problem.
    I couldn't find anything on Mozilla/Thunderbird site that seemed to fit the problem, so I contacted my service provider, XMission.
    After trying several things, and guiding me through several things that I did not really understand (see 1st line above), he then guided me to the Mozilla web site and had me download a new version from there. (His explanation was that probably there was something in my longtime Mozilla/Thunderbird installation that had become corrupted). So I did that.
    We finished about 2 AM, and the "Inbox" appeared to be working, and all of a sudden email from last Friday through to early this morning appeared in the inbox. So I thought the problem was solved.
    Alas, this morning, when I got looking through things, I discover that my address book is gone, and all my archive files, going back several years. I contacted XMission again, and they told me I had been contact Mozilla.

    yeah, about time you stopped following their bad advice anyway. The fix was originally simple. Now not so much.
    So 20 question time. I am asking each question for a reason. please answer them all.
    In the windows start menu... type %appdata%\thunderbird\profiles and press enter
    In the explorer windows that opens, what folders are shown? (Names please)
    On Thunderbirds help menu select troubleshooting information and click the show folder against profiles.
    What folder does explorer open into this time? (it will be one of those you listed before I hope.)
    Is there only a few incoming emails in your inbox in the mail profile your currently using? (I hope so.)

  • PDF attachments in Email lost ability to "open with"

    Just in the last few weeks, suddenly ios email is treating PDF attachments as a picture only offering me the option to Save Image or Copy when I press and hold the preview image in email.
    I need to be able to Open With my apps like GoodReader,

    I guess you mean that after ******* around deleting this and that, and getting it to work once or twice, the problem resurfaced ?
    This is a bug pure and simple.  The same problem is in evidence when using a link to a pdf in Safari.  The only thing you get is the qick-view output (1.st. page) and no opportunity to open it with, or save it to iBooks.
    You would think that Apple would want to solve this problem, wouldn't you?

  • All Outlook Express email lost with IOS upgrade

    I upgraded iTunes to the latest version and upgraded IOS from 4 to 6. Now Pocket Earth maps works on my iPod, but my Outlook Express email on my PC has been completely destroyed. All my emails and contacts are gone!!! What can I do? Is there a solution other than trying to restore my PC to an earlier date and forgetting about the maps for my iPod. (They aren't that useful anyway.) Please help me if you can.

    Thanks, but I was able to get all my email data back. I took my PC to Office Depot and their computer guy said it was a user profile error. He changed my identity back to main identity in Outlook Express and that fixed my problem. It cost me $30 but at least it's fixed.

  • Archive emails lost after Mavericks upgrade

    After uopgrading to mavericks, all the emails I had moved into mailboxes in the Archive have disappeared.
    The mailboxes I had created for archiving were all inside "On MY Mac", which is now duplicated about 14 times, and all the mailbox folders inside are also duplicated but they are empty.
    The emails are definitely gone: at least a search does not find them
    Can anyone help please?

    Try hovering over mailbox subcategories and look for "show" to appear next to the name, then click on it.

    Ok here is my problem: My aunt came to me and brought her computer as well, So I opened skype and loged out of her skype, and singed in with mine, and then she wanted to check her skype, so I logged out of mine and it turned out that she doesn't know her password, so I went to forgotten password topic, it asked for an Email but she had an email account based on her Internet Supplier, and she canceled it a while ago so she doesn't have Her Email account anymore, and then I clicked Forgotten password feature, so this showed up: enter your skype name, real name, country, recent purchace or credit card so we filled in these: skype name, real name, country, she ALSO canceled her credit card account, and she has some VERY IMPORTANT numbers and contacts on her account, so Is there ANY WAY TO GET THAT INFO BACK?
