Emails marked as read on iphone when outlook is opened?

Hello,
I have had a recurring problem which has resulted in a number of important emails being missed - I've researched as much as I can but have been unable to rectify it!
I use a 123reg email address on both my iPhone (5S, iOS8) and on Outlook for Mac (2011) on a MacBook Air OSX 10.8.5
Whenever Outlook connects to a wifi connection and fetches my emails, all of these emails become marked as 'read' on my iphone - really frustrating as sometimes I'll leave those I wish to action later marked as unread.
Currently, outlook has my email account marked as a POP account.
My account is also set up on my iPhone as a POP account.
Please help me as I'm reaching my wits end!

This is not a client issue, POP accounts do NOT sync but IMAP accounts do, find out how your accounts are actually setup. If they are POP then they are not working correctly and you should consult MS support (for Outlook) or your mail provider.

I'm having an issue with emails being marked as read in my work Outlook Inbox as soon as they are sent to my Torch 9850, even though I have not opened the email on my phone or on my PC.
We use Exchange Server 2010.
Has anyone else had this problem and if so, is there a setting change or workaround to this issue? I've turned off reconcilliation for now.

When you use OWA in something other than IE, you're using OWA lite and no--it is not possible to do either in OWA lite (well, new Exchange stuff makes my answer a little less emphatic but still: pretty much no). Thanks Microsoft. But this guy made it possible to mark unread/read and select all/none:

No. You really can't do that. Not easily at any rate. You would have to set them both up to use POP3, but even then there is no way to guarantee that the phone won't poll the server prior to your computer doing so, pulling down the message from the server.

Not Receiving Emails on BB when Outlook is Open

Hi,
I only get emails delivered to my blackberry only when my Outlook is closed.
Only on few occasions, I will get 1-2 emails on my blackberry when Outlook is open.
I tried deleting all my accounts on the BIS website and re-created the accounts and this problem still persists.
Further, the emails that arrive in my blackberry are removed every few days such that they only show the emails that I had sent from my blackberry.
I am using:
Blackberry 8320 v4.5.0.55
Windows XP Pro SP3
Outlook 2007
Messages set to be left on Internet Provider Server
BIS
3 POP3 Email Accounts

I have a client who is experienceing a very similiar issue.
He is using a hosted Exchange server through GoDaddy for his primiary email. At first he had issues getting any email whatsoever on his BB so we worked through some things and now it is capable of receiving emails.
He can send emails just fine at any point from his device but the issue comes when he wants to get an email. If Outlook is open he is unable to receive the message on BlackBerry, but as soon as he closes Outlook, he is able to receive any new emails sent while Outlook is closed. I At first thought it looks like his settings on Outlook do not leave the messages on the server, but as I thought about it, this did not make sense as he is using an Exchange server. I thought Exchange servers left the mail on the server until deleted by the user. Is this not the case? And would the fact that it is a hosted server have any effect?
We have it setup through BIS, OWA account
Right now the only solution I have for him is to close Outlook when he leaves the office. I can not figure out what the issue is, even though it is likely something small that I am just missing. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Email Not Being Deleted From iPhone When Deleted On Other Devices...

This seems to be the opposite of what most people are asking...
If I delete an email on any device (iPhone, Mac Mail on desktop, web interface), it get’s moved to the proper trash folder on all those devices. The deleted message is syncing properly which means my IMAP settings are correct (i.e, if I delete the message on my Mac using Mac Mail, it will show up in the trash folder on the iPhone). However, when I “empty trash” on my desktop, the trash is not removed from my iPhone but it is removed from the server and Mac Mail.
And conversely, if I delete the email from the trash on my iPhone, it is deleted from all my other devices.
Why isn’t the email getting removed from my iPhone when deleted on other devices?

Delete the account from the device then set it up again.
Does the problem continue? If so, address it with the Exchange Administrator.

Not Receiving Emails on Blackberry when Outlook is Open

Hello,
My client has gmail as her host. Outlook on her desktop is configured with POP. The "leave a copy of messgae on sever box is checked". When Outlook is open emails don't come throught to her balckberry. Has anyone had this problem?

If IMAP is properly setup on the server then the BlackBerry will automatically detect these settings and use them. To see if this works you can delete and reintegrate the account as shown here http://bit.ly/c1TyHV

Emails not pushing when outlook is open

Ladies & Gentlemen,
I need some advice on how to fix a problem. When my outlook program on my pc is open, my mail will not push to my phone, even when I have the frequency set to 15mins. How can I fix this. Whenever my outlook is closed all my messages push just fine, it's just when outlook is open is when they don't sync. The only way they will push when outlook is open is when I send the email(to my comcast acct) and continue to push the "refresh" button. But I don't have this issue with my google acct. Please assist. Just incase someone ask. I've had this problem with three different driod phone, with and without the software updates.
PC -Windows Vista
Outlook - 2007
Cell - Eris Droid
Email - Comcast,net (POP3)

You may just want to say Remove Email after X days. By not removing your email most carries restrict mailbox size and you will allow it to fill up and then stop newemails from arriving. so You may want to choose Remove emails after say 3 days this way you get it on the phone and on the PC. I run mine at 1 day but thats just me....

Your computer is probably set up to access your Yahoo mail using POP3. POP3 does not synchronize with the server. For full synchronization, you will need to use IMAP instead. See the Yahoo mail help pages for instructions on how to configure your mail client.

2 mail accounts, emails marked a read when not

Hi, I have latest mac os and using mac mail. I have 2 accounts and I have similar mail sent to both accounts. When I read an email in one account it registers as read in the other as well. I don't want this to happen. How do I set mail, I can't find any setting to turn on or off.

POP3 email marked as read on server before being read

Problem: Emails downloaded to my iPhone are marked as read on the server, even when they have not been read on either the iPhone, server/webmail or any other email client. When iPhone recieves a new email, it is listed as unread on the phone but on the server's webmail the same email will be listed as read. This sounds exactly like the problem described here, but unfortunately there was no solution to that discussion. The main issue for me when trying to find the new/unread email via webmail, when my inbox is sorted by conversation/thread, is that all the emails look the same. The new email is not highlighted differently (ie. unread) to the other 99 emails on the page and so is difficult to find.
More information: My iPhone is supplied by my employer and is used primarily for work. The primary mail account is configured to sync with my employer's Exchange server. This all works fine. I have added a second account to send/retrieve SMTP/POP3 email to/from my home ISP's mail server. This all works fine too (but with the above mentioned problem). With my previous phone (Windows Mobile), this same setup worked fine but without items on the server being marked as read.
Example: At work, on my PC, I have a web browser tab open on my home ISP's webmail page. The iPhone chimes and displays a new email notice on its lockscreen. Without touching the iPhone, I check my webmail on the PC to read the new email. In the list of emails in my webmail Inbox, the new email is already marked as read, even though I have not yet opened it on the iPhone nor via webmail. Futher to this, if I send myself an email from work to home, and immediately check my webmail, I can see the email listed as unread. Without opening the email, if I allow the iPhone to check for new email (or manually make it check) but do not open the new email, then refresh the webmail page, that new email has now become marked as read.
Further information: My ISP does not offer IMAP; this is stated very clearly on their user help/email setup wiki pages. My iPhone is configured to use their POP3 server address and port 110, the same as I have configured on my home PC. My work email account is configured for Push, my home account is configured for Fetch - hourly. The account advanced settings... Deleted Messages=never remove, Use SSL=off, Authentication=password, Delete from server=never, Server Port=110, S/MIME=off.
Any ideas that the heck is going on here?

Okay. This is doing this because your bb is not logging into the owa (outlook web access), it's using POP3. In order to use owa it must be enabled on your exchange server (ask your admin if you have this option). An owa address is something like https://mail.yourcompay.com/owa, depending how your admin set this up it could be named something else. You can either get to this option through your phone companys (BIS) website or on the bb itself.
If you use your phone companys website (BIS) to configure this option just log in and find the topic that reads something like this -
"How do I set up BlackBerry Internet E-mail using a My T-Mobile Account?"
This will give you the instruction for setting up the account for owa. (Took me a little bit to find this in my tmobile account.) During this setup there should be an option to check called use owa. You have completed the setup and never saw that option then start over and find that option.
If you go through the bb's setting on the actual device the way to get to this option is kind of strange (at least it was the only way I could figure out how to get to it on my phone).
I started by deleting the email account off the phone then added a new account. Go back to the account setting and change the password to a wrong password. After you select "ok" or "next" or whatever to get to the next screen you will get a message saying could not connect to server or error or something like that. Now you should have a option to configure the device manually. This option will get you to page to allow you to select OWA. Then just configure you bb for owa and you are good to go.
Sorry this is such a crude post. I usually take the time to give very accurate, step-by-step instructions, but I do not have time. Good luck to all with this issue.

How to keep email "marked as read" even after I read email in Blackberry

When I check my MobileMe mail on my Blackberry Curve, it marks it as read. Is there a way for me to tell either the Blackberry or MobileMe not to do that? I want those emails marked as unread, so when I go to my computer, they are still in that status.

I forgot, there is one other shortcut. Hold down the Control key on your keyboard when you click on the message in your inbox and you'll get a menu that allows you to select *Move To*. I'm not certain, but possibly using a mouse that you can select a *right click* you may be able to do that instead of the Control key.
Another item in that menu is *Move to "xxx" again* where xxx is the name of the last folder you moved something to.

Unread emails marked as read without being opened

On my Ipad 2, unread emails are marked as read without being opened. This happens when I open the email from my laptop after using the ipad. There are four email accounts on the ipad and they are all experiencing this. Any idea what is going on?

I rebuilt it several days ago and no change. I watched what happens and when an email comes in it shows unread and then changes to read immediately. Today, for some reason, the emails started coming in as unread and staying that way. I didn't change anything. ?????

Attach to email function does not respond when Outlook is open.

We use Outlook 2010 and Adobe Reader 11.0.2. Our users export a report from our ERP system which converts it to PDF and opens in Adobe Reader. Our users then need to use the "Send file as email" function.
If Outlook is open whilst doing this the envelope button simply greys out for a couple of minutes and then become available again. If Outlook is closed it opens a new Outlook email and attaches the file as expected.
I've tested this on various PC's and various versions, down to 9.5, of Adobe Reader with the same result.
If you first save the file the function works fine.

Unread emails marked as read

I'm using OS10.7.5 and Mail 5.3. I have several email accounts and all of them but one behave properly. The account in question shows all of my emails as being read but that's not the case. I've had this problem before but I can't remember how I solved the problem. Any ideas? Thanks for your time.
