Emails not being pushed to Mac Book Pro

Emails are not being pushed to my Macbook Pro despite coming to my other i devices.  If I close and reopen mail it seems to encourage some but not all to arrive.  Any suggestions for a fix please?
Thanks
Duncan

  • I can connect my tc to the internet and back up my iMac, but it will not back up my mac book pro... ANY thoughts?

i can connect my tc to the internet and back up my iMac, but it will not back up my mac book pro... ANY thoughts?

When I go to connect my MBP, it says I have the wrong user name and/or password; however the names and password are the same on both computers.
The MBP connects smoothly to the internet, just not the TC.
    Does this help?
There is no login name required to get internet unless you are running a vpn or pppoe client.
The wireless uses a security key.. but that is fixed in the wireless setup.. so no user login should be required at any time.
It sounds to me like you have the wrong setup.
Please do a screen shot and post it of the imac setup that works.. show us the airport network with its ip address and where you are putting in the login.
Please also do a snapshot of the TC and how it is setup.
    What broadband do you have?
Is the TC a router or bridged?

os x could not be installed on Mac book pro because storage system verify or repair failed.
When i open disk utility HDD does not let me repair.

In order to repair the system disk you must boot from another disk drive. The operating system will not allow the disk drive it is running from to be repaired.
Book the MBP and create a bootable clone on an external disk drive. Then boot from the external disk drive and repair the system disk drive from there.

  • Where can I find one of those silicone body covers (not hardshell) for the Mac Book Pro? And is this a good idea?

Where can I find one of those soft silicone body covers (not hardshell) for the Mac Book Pro? And is this a good idea since Apple no longer makes them? I-phones use them now.

Personally I use the Speck hard case on both of my MacBooks and they are the greates! Look around on Amazon and eBay and you can find them for $30-40. I wouldn't really recomend a silicon case for a macbook, but it's your preference.

  • Battery will not charge on my Mac Book Pro.

I recently (as in, a few months ago) replaced the battery on my Mac Book Pro, because I had overcharged my previous one into oblivion. Since I replaced the battery, however, the computer has been working fine - until today, anyways. The computer will not work without being plugged into the charger, and when it's on, it insists that the battery needs replacing, despite having a cylce count in the 80's. In the spirit of full disclosure (and getting help with this issue), I will mention that there is some small damage on one of the corners on the laptop. I don't know how the damage was caused, I just woke up one day and it was there, but I doubt this has any relevance, as the damage is nowhere near the battery. Regardless, any possible solutions would be greatly appreciated, as I would prefer to not replace a (relatively) new battery.

    1. I suppose it wasn't over-charging per se, but instead just that I used it too much while the charger was plugged in and the battery was at full, which can kill your battery.
    2. The damage I described happened unbenkownst to me, therefore, as far as I'm concerned, it was fine one day, and damaged the next.
    3. I realize the damage may have relevance, but said damage would then require a completel overhaul/replacement of the computer, seeing as that would likely mean the damage would be affecting the computer. I am more inclined to believe that the battery is, for some reason, not registering.
If I can't find an answer, I'll simply take it into a store to have it looked at, though obviously I'd prefer to explore simpler solutions, as the closest Apple Store is not close at all.

  • The HP Deskjet 3050A All-In-One J611 series printer I just bought is not compatible with my Mac Book Pro.  What do I need to do?

I recently purchased an HP Deskjet 3050A All-In-One J611 series printer and it is not compatible with the version of the operating system on my mac book pro.  I am currently running on OS X 10.4.11 and the printer is compatible with v10.5 or higher.  What can I do to update the operating system on my Mac Book Pro?

10.5 will be harder to find & more expensive, I think I'd go for 10.6

  • Restart, Shutdown, And Sleep do not work on my Mac Book Pro.

When I click the Apple in the top left corner of my screen, and click Sleep, Restart, or Shutdown, none of them work.
Since my computer cant restart, I can't restart my computer to install updates either, which is frustrating to say the least.
    Computer Specs:
Mac Book Pro (Same as every 2011 MBP, only thing I've changed is 4->8 RAM)
    13-inch, Early 2011

    8gb 1333MHz DDR3 Ram
Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB
    OS X 10.9 (13A603), Mavericks.
If there's any more information that would be helpful let me know and I'l try to provide it. Thanks to whoever can solve the issue.

Try each but not both at the same time:
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
Create a new admin user account.  Restart the computer and log into the new account. Try Sleep, Restart, and Shutdown. Do they all work?
Restart the computer is Safe Mode. Can you Sleep, Restart, and Shutdown when in safe mode?

    Hi TMSlattery,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  Based on the description of the issue, it sounds like your computer isn't able to reach the Mac App Store (iTunes Store) or iCloud servers.  I would recommend the troubleshooting here:
Can't connect to the iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1368
    Troubleshoot issues on a Mac
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store, a software conflict or your Internet service provider (ISP) may be blocking your access.
Update iTunes and Safari to the latest version.
If you have a firewall, your settings may be preventing you from connecting to the iTunes Store. Follow these steps to configure your firewall.
You may need to reset your keychain. Connection issues are occasionally caused by keychain issues. Learn how to use Keychain First Aid to resolve any issues with your keychain.
If you're receiving a specific error message, follow these steps.
If the issue still persists, contact your Internet service provider and confirm that these ports and servers are enabled over your network.

  • My external hard drive is not recognised on my mac book pro

my external hard drive is not recognised on my mac book pro

    Hello all -
similar situation.  Unplugged external hard drive and all to take the laptop on a trip.  On return, I plugged everything back in and keep getting this message:
Time Machine couldn’t complete the backup to “Iomega_Ext_Drive”.
Files can’t be copied onto the backup disk because it appears to be read-only.
You may need to repair or reformat the disk using Disk Utility. If the disk can’t be repaired, you must use a different disk for backups. Open Time Machine preferences to select a different backup disk.
    open time machine preferences.   -
I tried this and tried "repair" but that didn't work and I still get this message.  Any advice?  thanks

  • External hard drive not in sync with Mac Book Pro

I recently upgraded to a Mac Book Pro from my old and trusted ibook G4 but kept my portable external hard drive. With my ibook, my external hard drive's folders were all organised by name but since using my Mac Book Pro, my folders on my hard drive are all over the place and every time I reorganise them by name, it doesn't save and just reverts back to a disorganised fashion. Why? I didn't select my portable external hard drive to be my time machine because I was worried about erasing it. Any ideas?

The drive is formatted for Windows (NTFS.) To be able to write to it on a Mac, you will either have to reformat it (erasing all data on the drive) or install third-party software. The choice of format depends on your intended use for the drive. For cross-platform compatibility, use FAT32 or ExFAT. For maximum OS X compatibility, use Mac OS Extended.

  • HT4061 Emails not being delivered via mac mail - recipients claim not receiving

A colleague and I have discovered over last 2 weeks issues with mac mail.
Emails are not being received - but it appears to be RANDOM.
We both use mac mail and have .me accounts.
He sent a group email that I never received until 3 days later when another colleague NOT on mac mail replied to all and I saw that I never received original note.
This colleague sent email to his attorney weeks ago -- and it was just delivered to his attorney's inbox YESTERDAY.
The colleague has also send me a several SENSITIVE correspondences that he confirmed via phone last night that I have still NOT received.
What is going on? is is a mac mail issue or an iCloud issue?
Need some help to get this reported and resolved.
    thank you!

sorry gg30340 , Yes webmail works fine and I can receive from Outlook fine, just sent emails seems to disappear into a black hole from Outlook
    Hi. Welcome to the forums.
For info, CP (Critical Path) has been in use for a few months now for the conversion from using Yahoo! mail servers.
What version of Outlook are you using ?
In the smtp setting, try removing @btinternet.com or @btopenworld.com from the username - despite what the online help might say.
You might like to try port 25, with No security or SSL/TLS setting.
Is it all emails that are failing to send ?
If emails have been fine for years, do you know what the previous settings were ?
As for disabling firewalls - this doesn't always help - as they can still block emails! What security package are you using, and have you checked the settings within that package ?
    Sorry for the extra questions.

  • Email not being pushed after 5.1 iOS

I noticed today for whatever reason, my emails are not automatically being pushed to my phone, unless I stay on the mail app. Iphone 4 with iOs 5.1 Exchange Email, Hotmail, and iCloud all exhibit the same behavoir. If mail is mimized it won't send, but if I go in and kill the mail app, then it pops up with notifications and emails just fine.

Been battling this since the update myself - finally found the problem. It's not a bug.
Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Fetch New Data -> Advanced -> iCloud -> Change to "Push".
I have always received my emails automatically from iCloud, or they were always "Pushed" to me. For some reason, after updating to iOS 5.1, this setting was changed. It took me a while, but I finally found the problem. All emails are coming automatically now.
    Hope this helps!
