Emails that get filed in draft folder

When I am in my in-box with an email open.  I accidentally hit the draft button at the top of the email.  I saw the email get filed in the draft folder, but I don't know where to go to retrieve that email out of drafts.

If holding the iPad in landscape orientation, then tap your account name in the top left-hand corner and then select the Drafts folder and the email that you've saved within it. If holding the iPad in portrait orientation then tap the Inbox icon in the top left and then do similar.

I've just got an email that came into my junk folder asking me to reset my account is this spam?
It claims there was suspicious activity as there was a log in attempt from an unknown device then provides a link o enter my data, which I haven't done, why would apple be asking for my credit card details?

It is a phishing attempt. Do not respond. Do not divulge any personal or financial information. You can use the address below to forward the suspect email message to Apple.

  • How do i reset my mail so that messages don't get stck in drafts folder?

I have a few email messages that I sent out but are also stuck in the drafts folder and I can't delete them. This slows down my whole mail program and causes it to freeze. Any idea how to clear them?

I think that you should be able to find the help you need in this Apple Support article.

  • Sending email leaves duplicates in the Draft Folder

When I am sending particularly large email messages, the email gets sent, but for some reason a duplicate of the message gets left in the Drafts Folder. So now I have the same email that I had just sent in the Drafts Folder and in the Sent Folder. So then I have to manually trash the message in the Drafts Folder.
This does not seem right. In the past the message in the Drafts folder has always deleted itself as soon as the email has been sent.

The last one that exhibited this behavior contained two photos that added up to 4.6MB.
But the size factor does not seem to enter in since the messages sailed out as they normally do complete with the Zooom sound that is assigned leaving behind the complete message sitting in both the Sent and Drafts folders. This leaves me with the housecleaning task of selecting the message in the Drafts folder and clicking the trash can.
It should be noted that the last time I did this, the deleted message re-appeared the next day in my Trash as a recovered file. It is like the cat that keeps coming back...

  • IPhone Deletes eMail message when moving to Draft Folder

    Hi, here's a nice bug.
I repled to a message, but it failed to send it so it wnet into the Outbox automatically. I came back later and decided to move it to the draft folder. "Poof", the message is instead deleted. Nice feature, Apple.
Anyone know where to submit bugs - is that the same place you submit suggestions 4 improvement?

I called apple about this bug a few weeks ago. It is an error with any POP email accounts. You cannot move emails between folders, they dissapear. They are working on the problem they told me.

  • TS3276 Lion mail;  sent emails show up in the draft folder as well as the sent folder.  Often the draft will appear a day after the email was actually sent

    Lion mail
Emails that have been Sent show up in the Draft folder as well as th e Sent folder.
Often they may not show up in Draft folder until the next day.
Is there a correction for this?

no,  I only use mac as my incoming and outgoing server.
What I did was un check the draft box in the mail preferences,
and will see if that works.  Since I use only the computer for emails
the cloud isnt being used to its max anyway.

  • Exchange 2013 SP1 server working for several months now messages are getting stuck in drafts folder

This a small, simple environment. There is a MS Server 2012 R2 server hypervisor with a MS Server 2012 R2 VM running Exchange 2013 patched to SP1.  This server has been deployed into production and passing mail without issues for several months.
Upon initial deployment, we experienced the issue that many have reported and that has been widely documented where Mail Flow works fine inbound, but outbound will stick in the drafts folder. We resolved the issue by manually configuring the IP Address of
our internal DNS server (which is an installed role on our hypervisior / base layer server).  The issue was immediately resolved and mail was flowing in both directions without issue.  We later installed SP1 and there was no issue.  Mail has
been flowing normally all the while.
Now fast-forward through several weeks of reliable mail delivery... We experienced a power loss and a system shutdown and upon reboot, inbound is working and outbound goes to drafts.  I've confirmed DNS Lookup settings in ECP still points to our internal
server as previously configured.  Both servers have internet access, NSLOOKUP returns expected values, and DNS appears to be working normally.
I'm not sure if we had an MS Update that installed with the reboot that caused the breakage, if there was a lingering settings change that took effect on reboot, or what is causing the interruption.  I'm looking for some fresh ideas on where to look
for answers, and all the information available on the drafts folder issue points to DNS settings that have already been put in place.
Any constructive ideas are welcome!   Thanks in advance.

    Amit,
Long story short, I'm not sure how or why, but there were a few automatic services that were not starting "automatically."  I'm used to seeing some services that are triggered by the application to start and stop on their own, so I didn't necessarily
panic when there were a few automatic services that were stopped..
However, The MS Exchange Health Manager, and the Mailbox Submission services weren't running.  After manually starting the services my drafts folder emptied and we are back in business.. Maybe not "innovative" as you said, but it certainly put us on
the right track.  We were looking so hard at DNS because of all the reported cases of "stuck in drafts" being related to DNS, we totally overlooked the obvious, so THANKS!
Now the only question is, what stopped the services and why did they not restart automatically??

  • Each time I send a new email it gets saved in draft also. why ?

why are sent mails saved as drafts ?

It is a bug that existed in Mt Lion for a while (and was fixed) that has returned. We can hope that when Apple releases 10.9.1 that's one of the things that gets fixed.

  • Email I send to myself gets filed in Junk Folder!?

    This is driving me crazy...
I often send myself email, particularly when browsing the web or apps on my iPad and I find something I want to save but Evernote isnt an option and I don't want to clutter the Reading List. I use my iCloud account address. Invariably, that email arrives on the Mac and gets put into the Junk folder. Why?
I took this issue to the AppleStore and the Genius behind the bar looked up the problem, and after much discussion over the phone to persons/parts unknown, returned with a solution. He had me chant a spell, daub Apple jelly on my forehead, delete a couple of files from the Library, rinse, and repeat. (I did the deleting remotely via the iPad and Logmein so I wouldn't have to haul my 27" iMac to the store.) It worked! For a week. Then the problem reappeared. I should have written down the incantations, Apple jelly recipe, laundry instructions, and files that were deleted, but I was in awe of the Genius' magical powers and had assumed that the problem had been permanently resolved. Wrong. ARRGGHH!
But seriously, this is driving me around the bend. Does anyone have any experience with this problem and know the proper incantations to resolve it?
    Thanks!

  • Repeating email in my Drafts folder

I have been getting the same email showing up in my Drafts folder for several weeks now.  I have repeatedly deleted it, including emptying the Trash folders, but it keeps popping up.   This was originally a response I sent to an email that was sent to me.  Any thoughts how to permanently remove this?  I'm thinking the original email must have had a virus attachment that keeps re-loading, but since it came from a PC to my MacBook Pro, the virus doesn't load.  Would appreciate any help!

thanks tjk.....i've done that, several times which gets rid of it temporarily...but whatever it is keeps re-loading to my drafts box.  It's random, I can't find a pattern...arrghh!  very frustrating..been going on for a few weeks now.
All I can think of is there's a corrupt file causing this. Where, I don't know. Try to see if there's any kind of pattern you can recognize as to when this starts happening. It could even be an attachment you're adding, or replying to something with a bad attachment in it.
You can also try looking in Console to see if any error messages stand out.

  • Mail is putting multiple copies of sent emails in my drafts folder, or in trash.

Mail is putting copies of emails successfully sent in my drafts folder, sometimes multiple copies, sometimes in trash.
Also, new email keeps entering my inbox after I've moved it to other mailboxes or to the trash or junk mail. Also, if I search for a name to which I have sent or from which I have received an email, the results shows a copy of each mail in all these mailboxes: Important, All Mail, Sent Mail, Sent G-Mail. This is a recent phenomenon. For every sent email I get 5 copies in my trash box.

I phoned up Appe Support yesterday and i discovered that SOME (not all) of my trouble was caused by my 2 Gmail accounts, which werent correctly designated as Gmail Server WITH the correct password, it was set to use the server from one of my other accounts.
I do still have another problem which doesnt go away, i open Mail normally and there is ghost Open Window, which cannot be opened, to view my Mail i have to open a NEW viewer window, even though there is a Window open all ready, the Ghost window !

  • Mail Going To Drafts Folder

I have a seemingly strange issue in that whenever I write one particular recipient the email ends up in my Drafts folder. When I check the Sent folder its shows as Sent. Is it really sent? And if so why is it sending a copy to Drafts?

While indeed unchecking this option stops the behavior, it's not the best of solutions.  The options to save drafts on server is available with any decent IMAP program, and generally is very beneficial.  Say I start a message on my Mac, and then have to leave before it's done.  If it's saved to the server, I can then pick this message up later on my iPhone or iPad and complete it and send it.  Or I can start it on an iOS device, have it save to the server from there, and then pick it up on my Mac later to complete.
So, the functionality of "Save drafts on server" is widely known amongst IMAP clients, and it would be nice if Apple Mail would simply replace a previous draft of a particular message with the latest version rather than piling up multiple versions of the email.  Also, it's customary that when you eventually send the message, the drafts also disappear.
It would also help if there was a way to increase the auto-save time to a longer setting so that they don't pile up so fast.

  • New Message Saved Multiple Times In Drafts Folder

I know that while I'm composing an email the program automatically saves a copy of that message to the drafts folder. This copy is updated while I'm composing the message. But recently, as I'm composing a message, the same composition is saved multiple times in the Drafts folder. So, if it took me 10 or 15 minutes to compose an email I'll have at least 4 or 5 separate copies of the email in different stages saved to my Drafts folder. When I send the email it will save a copy in my Sent folder, but won't remove the same email from my Drafts folder.
Has anyone else had a problem like that? Have suggestons on what's going on and how to fix it?
    Thanks...

What type of account is this (POP, IMAP, .Mac)? If IMAP or .Mac, what are your settings in Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Mailbox Behaviors for Drafts and Sent?

  • Mail & IMAP = Drafts folder from **** (Apple are you listening?)

We are using Mail 2.1.1 (752.3) and run a CommuniGate Pro Mail Server v4.3.12. As we are collaboratively working on our email, we are forced to rely on IMAP.
Unfortunately Mail.app seems to have a strange misbehaviour in saving IMAP messages as drafts although they have been shipped.
I sent about 25-30 emails a days, and my drafts folder keeps growing (crowded with mails which already have been sent). This is VERY annoying and renders the drafts folder almost useless.
There is a suggestion to store the drafts locally instead of server-based, but that wouldn't allow us to share drafts across the office before sending them.
The that there are at least 7 other discussions on the same topic (see links below), shows you that this is indeed an issue what Apple needs to address.

I'm not trying to shoot the messenger, just trying to determine if what he reports is a reasonable basis for concluding a Mail bug is its cause. There are a number of reasons I am hesitant to do so, among them:
    1. There are few reports of similar behavior. Among those he mentions, few actually are similar beyond a few points of commonality, or lack enough detail to conclude anything about a common cause.
    2. There are a variety of potential causes for this sort of thing besides a Mail bug. Among them are corrupted files in the OS or application, interference from third party additions that change Mail's or the OS's behavior, & server-side problems, including mis-configuration, use of non-standard IMAP transactions, & reuse of message ID's before they are retired.
    3. Many of the reports of similar behavior say it is intermittent, changed suddenly, or is confined to one account.
    4. Prematurely deciding that the cause must be an Apple bug leads to ignoring troubleshooting procedures that could resolve it.
As I said, it is possible this is the result of a bug, but it is historically more likely it is the result of something users can repair or correct without waiting for a fix that will never come.
Just complaining may help, but not here. This is a user-to-user discussion forum, with an emphasis on interactive help with diagnosis & resolution of issues. The more specific users can be about the nature of & circumstances surrounding the symptoms & the steps they have taken to try to resolve them, the more likely it is that someone can help. Sometimes, that help is confirmation that a bug exists, but much more often it is a procedure that shows that the real problem is something else.
