Emails with sound

I receive emails occassionally that are accompanied with sounds(music, or file states "contains sounds")but the mail program doesn't seem to be able to play these sounds like the web browser does. Maybe a stupid question, but is the Apple mail program able to do this? Or is it not set up to play music etc.

Hi,
I get .wav atatchments from my CallVantage voice mail.
In the view pane I see the audio play bar but I get no sound.
If I save the atatchment to the desk top and then launch it, everything is fine.
How do I get the sound from the email view?

Change Calendar default custom alert preference to email with sound?

Most annoying aspect of the new Apple Calendar is that the preference is pre-set for 2 email alerts at the same time before each event. It's time-consuming to re-set a custom alert time, eliminate the 2nd alert and set my preferred custom alert method every time I add an event.
I want to re-set my default preference for "email with sound" and have one alert at the "time of the event" unless I choose to add additional alerts.
Is this possible?
Note: I tried changing my Alert preference to "at time of the event" in Calendar Preferences, restarted and the default still shows up as alerting me twice, both 30 minutes before even though it does show as "at tme of the event" in Preferences.

Emailing with sound from Centro camcorder?

Has anyone sent videos via email, with sound from your Centro camcorder?
I was so bummed, sent several videos with several friends, to a friend for her Birthday and when she received them there was no sound or option for?
I'm hoping I just missed something? Thanks

You could send out vids via email but those you send it too need to use the Quicktime player to play them since they are in 3GP or 3GPP format. They can get the play via http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

Possible to change default alarm from "Message with Sound" to "Email"?

I was wondering if there is a way to change the default alarm when creating an event in iCal, from "Message with sound" to "Email". The option is not available in preferences, and I was just hoping that there might be a way to change the default, using Terminal, and if not, perhaps there is another way. i would guess that you are trying to write the message possibly in the field designed for a contact name or phone number that you would like to send it to, if you go down to the rest of the lines you will be able to type your message. this is just a guess but it sounds like this might be the issue. if not please elaborate so we can assist you better.

A large email with documents is stuck in my outbox, how can I delete it?

A large email with several documents is stuck in my outbox, it tries to send each time I open mail but it's been in there for over a week and is clearly to big to make it through. I want to delete it from my outbox, how can I do this?

Sounds like you constipated your email program!
Here is the Ex Lax: Go into the Outbox and swipe Left/Right on the message. A red DELETE button should appear. Tap it to clear the message.

Can't delete email with large attachments

Received two email with large attachments (photos in format that iphone doesn't recognize). Now can't delete or move to trash these two email. They just return to inbox and mail freezes, goes black, or returns to home screen. Clearing out all other mail in trash doesn't help. Reset doesn't help. I can still receive new email to my inbox and delete those just fine, but these two large email with attachments are stuck in my inbox.

Well, I have the same problem. I tried to delete the specific account and redo it - but the ** email was still there. I've gone to the webmail site for the account, and deleted it there. It's deleted from my laptop, but keeps coming back on my iPhone. So, my iPhone is set to show 25 emails, but I don't understand what you mean by "send yourself 25 messages". Sounds like your solution works, and I'd sure like to try it. Looks like Apple needs to come up with an easier solution too. Thanks.

How to use Java with PL/SQL commands to send an email with attachment

I need to use Java with PL/SQL commands to send an email with attachment. My java application runs from the command line and does some magic to gather info from an Oracle 11g db. If the DB has sendmail configured, I'd like to send the results of the data gathering as an attachment to the email addresses. I'm not sure how to do this. I've been reading up on on PL/SQL can send email with UTL_SMTP - with attachments. I'm just not sure how to translate that into being triggered by my Java application. Any suggestions or pointers on what I should read would be appreciated.
Background - I've been programming in Java for 10+ years, but this is my first time using databases. I also have been on these forums for a long time, but lost my profile when it was switched to Oracle.

Photo Booth with sound?

I have been searching for a way to send an email including a picture and music. I found just the application I needed, but it was for use with Windows. Anyway, the answer might be right under my nose. Some of the articles I saw on the Internet mentioned Photo Booth with sound. That would be great. Photo Booth is as simple to use as can be. The only problem is, I don't see how to add sound. Could it be that there is more than one Photo Booth? Anyway, my question is, is there a way to use Photo Booth to send an e-mail including picture and music?

Yes, you can add sound, but not by using PB (or Leopard's PB2.)
If you have your music playing while you record a PB2 video, the sound can be recorded WHILE you are capturing video, but there is no way in in PB or PB2 to add sound to existing video or still images (that you have already made.)
I do not know any app that adds sound to still images. (You can make HTML simulations by imbedding both a still image and a sound file in an HTML page, but that is not really adding sound to the picture.)
You can convert any snapshot, whether made with PB2, the original Photo Booth, iChat, or any other app that can make a snapshot by importing it into iMovie or QuickTime Pro and adding the sound track in one of those apps. Then save the file as a QT movie.
Even if you do not make the image move, the file will still be a QT movie file, and QT movies can contain sounds.
You could also use the same procedure with iMovie or QT Pro to add to or change the existing sound on a movie clip that has already been saved, whether recorded by PB2 (the original PB did not record video), WebcamTweaker, or any other app that can record movie or video clips.
So go buy Leopard, and enjoy. However, you will not be able to add sound to either the still or movie files you make using Photo Booth 2 except by using some other application.
If you would rather, you can certainly use iMovie and Tiger to do what you want without buying Leopard or any other software, but you will miss out on all the other new, fun features in Leopard.

A song that I just bought won't play more than 1 minute and 3 seconds with sound.

I bought a song 2 days ago and I tried to listen to it but only 1 minute and 3 seconds of it will play with sound. My iPod says that the song is still playing but there is no sound. The volume is up but there is nothing. I tried to "report a problem" when I got the email receipt but my iPod said it couldn't connect to the iTunes store.

I have a number of PC and Mac Pro running Windows Pro, and the OS only needs 80GB partition, plus whatever data etc.
New but used does not sound like Apple Store (refurbished) Specials which would be a 'virgin' OS.
I would reformat and do your own clean install.
There may be something wrong and why it was left that way for one thing. May be a problem with the partition table.
Boot from OS X DVD and you can usually try Disk Utility to "-" remove and then repair and get back, and you of course normally should be able to just use Boot Camp Assistant which is one of its functions - not just to create partition.
For normal resizing, or creating the free space you need has to be in one contiguous chunk and not be fragmented, which is hard to imagine that 500GB is going to be intact.
And whatever you do, rule #1 in the pdf guide: backup before beginning.

My daughter has an iPad 2 with GarageBand 2.0 and iOS 7.0.4. She would like to import a video file which has a sound track on it to GarageBand for iPad so that she can add an additional sound track to it. The video/audio file to be imported would be in AVI, MPEG2 or another iPad compatible format. Is this possible? If so, how would the mechanics work? Would you: (1) load the file into the Movies section of iTunes and import the file from the Movies section of iTunes; (2) save the file onto an SD card and import the video/audio file from the SD card by inserting the SD card into an "SD adaptor" on an "iPad Camera Connection Kit"; or (3) email the video file to yourself and upload it to GarageBand from email?

This is part of a mobile training application and I allow the learner to record an audio response in addition to viewing the videos. When they record a response, you can hear the playback so the device has its volume up and working when the app is running. Since I posted this issue, I switched to .flv video and that plays ok. It's apparently the .mp4 video that's a problem. I'm encoding it with ffmpeg and suspect that it's something with the settings. Do you have a recommendation for mp4 settings for OSMF?
