Embarrassingly easy - can't select image...

I just want to select an image in order to then create a border around it. When I use ctrl-A, I get the cross mark but it doesn't outline and select the image. There's a one-click option to select my whole image, yes?

That's pretty much exactly what I said. I don't see anywhere in my post where I referred to selecting just the object.

Can't select images in Pages 5.2 from updated older Pages document

I have a Pages document created 18 months ago. Upon trying to open and edit in the new Pages 5.2, none of my images in the sidebar (outside my main body margins) are now selectable. In prior Pages versions you had some feature to allow you to select images in background. No longer can I find out how to do this. This I have a document template with images that are unselectable.
I can't be the only one facing this dilemma. Of course my proposal is due tomorrow and my old documents-as-templates are now worthless.
Anybody? (the documentation is so weak it simply states to "select image" before any feature explanation on manipulating etc..)

No, VikingOSX very sound comment didn't help because no older versions were not saved when Applecare did a clean install of Mavericks after my machine fix. All I have is Pages 5.2.
The "hijack" comment was that you insist I downgrade my Pages version, when my question was related to how to do something in 5.2.   App store does not let me download any older versions nor does the link you provided give me instructions on how to download older version. It stated that it was a popup option "Download an older version of this app?" However, I do not get that option when I try.
1: Not an option as I will not waste the time and many app upgrades which utilize Mavericks as my daily workflow to downgrade my entire system to an older OSX version just for Pages. That is unreasonable and very timeconsuming and will cause many of my Mavericks upgraded applications to not work any longer (yes, I have researched each app to determine a versioning punchlist if I were to downgrade OSX, and many current daily applications are versioned for the current OSX version)
2&3: Yes a have spoken to Apple multiple times, they have only given me the same response to use current version (5.2) that was available in the App store under the "Purchases" tab. They would not give me instructions on how to download an older version. Their response is that I have the newer version now, which is what they support and what they have given me access to.
4: Yes, I have replied mutiple times, that the problem is that I cannot select the image on the document. Hence the original title of this post. Cannot move if I cannot select. Pages will only let me select the text next to it. Click on the image will not select it at all. So the answer to your question "at what point you could not get them to work" is that I cannot select an image on an existing document that is outside of the margin and was a background image when the document was created in an older Pages version.

** To others reading this thread, I am simply looking for an answer to how to select a background image in 5.2 from a older produced Pages document. Is there a menu item I am overlooking or inspector item, etc that would allow me to click on an image already in the background of a document so I could delete or move it.   Pages will not let me select the image by clicking on it. There must be a simple way I am overlooking. Thank you.
If Pages '09 is the answer, then fine. How do I acquire for download Pages '09 as I cannot seem to get AppStore to offer me that option.

Asha 501 can't select image for contact list

Hi,
I cannot see any option to select the image for my contacts list. Is there any software available to select this..or need to wait for the future release of asha platform 1.

Hi,
just navigate to the contact you want to assign a picture.
Slide in the menu bar from the bottom of the screen and press "edit".
The contact details appear and in the top-left corner are the initials of the contact and a small "+" sign.
Press here (the whole corner is ok, no need to aim for the +) and you can chose a picture from the gallery.

Can't select images to link them

Hi,
Hope you're well.
I'm building a website where the menu items on the nav bar are images.
When I try to link to select them in Dreamweaver to link them to other pages,
they are not selectable.

In addition to the above posts, absolute positioning every div on the page is kind of like layering a web page. They all sit one on top of the other unless you specify otherwise with z-index. Therefore, the divs further down the code, will be the divs at the top of the layer stack. You are better to use other methods such as floats to position your design.
Also, having a 100% image based website is a really bad idea and not necessary - especially without the use of ALT tags. You could try the below as a starter layout where I have changed your menu and content section into HTML.

How can I import selected images from a folder instead of the whole folder in iPhoto 9.5.2?

Hi there,
I was trying to help my parents import some photos from a folder they have created with photos from their holiday. They only want to import select images from this folder into iPhoto. I said it would be easy and they can do it in 2 ways. First, they can drag and drop selected photos from their folder into iPhoto - and this works for them. However, more convieniently, they can click file>import to Library and then select the photos they want by going into the folder... Well that's how it works on my iPhoto '11 at least. When they showed me their screen via Skype (they are running iPhoto 9.5.2), when they click import to library, and try to go into the folder containing their photos, it imports the whole thing and there appears to be no way that they can enter the folder to select just a few photos from what I could see.
Does anyone know anything aout this problem?

Can't select placeholder image in template

Hello there,
perhaps I'm too stupid and the solution is such easy. But today I wanted to use the template "You're invisited" to style an invitation for a friends birthday party. In iWork '06, I could select the images on the left side on page 1 and 2 to insert an own image. Now, in iWork '08 it seems to be a text box including image and text - I can't select the image only. Consulting the manual did not solve this, so I'm looking here for help. Thanks a lot in advance

I can't duplicate the problem you're having. When I open that "festive invitation" template in Pages 3 I can select either the picture or the text box, they are not grouped or otherwise linked. The picture is a "media" placeholder, same thing as image placeholder in Pages 1 & 2. This one does have a mask applied, but none of that prevented me from inserting a picture of my own choosing.

Can't select text when export in HTML and Images

I am entirely new to Fireworks and I can't find anyone to teach me Adobe Fireworks. I followed some youtube tutorials but most of them are vague. I am still figuring the way to export from Fireworks to Dreamweaver, without affecting its contents like bitmap images and the text. When I export in HTML and Images format and opened the htm file, I can't select the text I've inserted in Fireworks. Can anyone tell me what I should do?

I cant scroll below or above viewable section of text in any of my Macbooks, iMac, Mac Mini. Never have been able to, never could, except by pressing the arrow keys whilst selecting, to move up or down.

Can I resize a Quick Selected image so it fits when I cut and paste it on a new background? I am trying to take a photo of someone and place it on a different background. The Quick Selected image is too big when I paste it on the background. You can only see a small portion of the persons head.

Open the photo, then go to Image>resize>image size. Read what the resolution is in px/in.
Get out of this screen. Then use one of the selection tools to select the person, go to Edit>copy to put it on the clipboard
Now, go to File>new>blank file. Enter width & height, and the same resolution value.
Go to Edit>paste. The person will be on a separate layer. Use the move tool to position, and, to resize with the corner handles, if necessary
Note: For printing, it is desirable to have the resolution in the 240-300px/in range. For web work, 72 px/in is ok

Can't select an image to use for a signature in Reader XI

Using Adobe Reader XI, I can't select an image to use as a signature. I have an image saved as a JPEG, but using an image is never an option. I only see the option to use a certificate.

Muse Lightbox slideshow: Hero images are undersize & cropped, can't select to change them

Mac, Mavericks, & Muse: First website: Building Lightbox slideshow. When a thumbnail is clicked in Preview mode, Hero image is undersized and cropped (placed jpgs are max 600 pixels x smaller). Back in Design mode, I can't select the Hero to resize it. Both thumbnails and Hero images are set to Fit Content Proportionally.

I've had a similar-ish issue to you, minus cropping. Two key things:
1) To edit the position or size of the hero image double-click it
2) If the original image is smaller or larger or differently sized than the target Hero frame this (above) will happen. What I did was to
scale the frame for the Hero image to the intended area, then get the dimensions of that area using a rectangle. Copy the vaues to make a new Photoshop document and
manually import the images individually and save the resulting JPEGs which will have the additional space around the image to fill it for the Hero (ideally scale the image to fill the target space by losing any necessary empty space).
Essentially the original images you're using must be the same as the resulting frame which is no good if they're all different sizes. Yeah, it's a pain.

HT204379 "source" locks at "loading" and no image-screensaver can be selected

The problem that I am experiencing (and many others like me as I have noticed in several fora) is that the "source" when selecting an image screensaver blocks at "loading" while nothing happens and no (folder or aperture library) source can be selected. The problem started basically since Apple blocked the possibility to use a folder with images in subfolders as source for a screensaver as used to work perfectly in Snowleopard. But while Mountain Lion only works with iPhoto or Aperture libraries it made the system susceptible to windows like errors.
When selecting a slideshow-screensaver, the source remains as "loading" where no options are given to select anything. It used to work until a few months ago, but I have no clue why it stopped or how I can get it to work again. When the slideshow screensaver is selected I get an error message telling me there was an error connecting to a netwerk server. No clue why it actually needs that server (which died some time ago). If i shutdown systempreferences while the slideshow is still selected, each time it tries to start the screensaver I get the same warning that there is a problem connecting to a (dead) airport extreme.
I have tried to reinstall Mountain Lion, rebuild a new Aperture image library, remove certain .plist files that may be connected to this as was suggested in several fora, nothing works. I cannot imagine that Apple forces me to abandon Mountain Lion and to go back to Snowleopard over a screensaver.
A hint to third party developers: please create a simple slideshow screensaver where you can select a folder including subfolders. It can't be that hard to create (although Apple fails completely).

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Help! Can't select an image

I am no Photoshop expert but I have been using CS6 for a long time. Suddenly I can't select my image. I always clicked on the icon in the layers palette and it was "marching ants". Not working. I figured out a backdoor way yesterday but if someone can tell me how to reset PS (which I've done twice before but I forget how now) I would appreciate it. Called support but they said I had to wait until Monday and I work.

Can't Select File Format in Image Capture

I just installed SANE software to support my old HP 5470c scanner on my new Mac Mini running Lion. If I select Color or Black and White, I can't select a file format. If I select Text, I can choose TIFF, PNG, or PDF. Also the Scan button only works in Text mode, presumably because a file format is not selected. Is this an issue with Image Capture or did I need to set up some file formats some where?

P.S. I can get a color scan in basic mode although the scan itself is corrupt.

I had a similar issue where only a few file formats were available when color was selected (png, tiff and something else, which i knew was weird because i've always scanned to jpeg and that was not an option). The menu went back to normal, fully populated with all of the file formats once again when i toggled the DPI menu. I had been at 300 DPI, I simply switched it to 100 and then back to 300, and suddenly I had twice as many formats to choose from. Hope that helps.

What I would like to do is to use Lightroom as I have been doing with LR 5.7. Tag certain images to be shared to the Creative Cloud which my editor can then see and tag as to which she would like to see final versions of. In the best case, I would then see these tags and edit the images as appropriate and save the JPEGs back to the Cloud where she can download them for final production.
Possible?
