Embed an interactive google map into a PDF

Hi there,
I'm currently working on a client project where many different store locations need to use the same layout, but with a large map. In order to save costs for the client, the aim is that each store will edit the template to their own store. So I'm wanting to embed google maps into the pdf (which I've done via InDesign), where the store can simply drag the map and zoom in on their individual location (pins are not needed) and then print out their document. I've been able to make an interactive map using the html code google maps gives you in InDesign, and works fine in Adobe Content Viewer - but not in Adobe Acrobat, where it ends up as a static image. This happens regardless of wether I save it as an interactive PDF, or SWF file.
Is there anyway to embed a dynamic, working google map into an interactive PDF document?
(notes: I am working on iOS. The file will have to work on both Windows and Macintosh, but I understand that it may only work when the file is opened in Acrobat)

  • Embed Google Maps into Swing Application

I guess i am having some difficulty with this because the Swing component needs to support the complex javascript that Gmaps uses.
Please suggest some solution or API.

  • Copying a google map into a Pages document

I was wondering if anyone knows how to copy a google map into a Pages document? I am creating a real estate flyer, and would like to include a map on the back. I know how to insert a Google map using the Widget in iWeb, but not using Pages. Any help is greatly appreciated!

You can take a screensnap of the map: +cmd shift 4+ and drag over your selection. The snap lands on your desktop named +Picture 1+ etc.
Make sure you enlarge the map as big as possible on the screen as it is only at screen resolution, 72dpi, and you need about 300dpi for printing.
Usually it is better to draw a simplified diagramatic map for directions in a vector drawing program like OmniGraffle, VectorDraw, ZeusDraw, EazyDraw, LineForm, Intaglio or Illustrator. Bring these in as .pdf files which are freely scalable.
Pages also has drawing tools at the bottom of the Shapes pulldown menu on the ToolBar but it is cumbersome compared with the dedicated programs.

  • Inserting Google Map into a web page

    Hello
I am having severe difficulty in trying to insert a Google Map into my website at http://www.peterdewitscafe.co.uk.
I have got a API key, then generated code to copy/paste as appropriate. After several attempts I can only get an error message saying:
"The Google Maps API key used on this web site was registered for a different web site. You can generate a new key for this website at http://www.google.com/apis/maps/".
When asked by Google to enter my URL I enter http://home.btconnect.com/peterdewitscafe/, as I understand that the key/code is specific to the server (my server is ftp.btconnect.com).
My site is built with freeway. I'm wondering if there is a problem arising from the fact that I built an earlier site with the same URL in iWeb. But the freeway one is uploaded now and surely overwrites the old one doesn't it?
Does anyone have any advice? - or is there no way around this problem.
Any help will be very welcome.

Have you actually tried this to see what it does?
In Muse when you import the oam file the entire project within the file is extracted and placed within the folder structure of the Muse project and using an iFrame the Edge Animate animation is included into the html of the Muse project.
Dreamweaver, Indesign and whatever other Adobe software that can import Edge Animate projects can't take the html and individual assetts like css and js and just use them. Instead you have to export the Edge Animate project into an oam file which is basically a zip file with folder structure and some instructions that tell where everything is and how they are linked together.
Indesign, Muse, Dreamweaver then takes this file and exports out the oam folder into the current folder structure of the current opened project and brings in the assetts.  In Muse it uses an iFrame to bring in the Edge Animate files, I don't know about Dreamweaver or Indesign.
So you see, the oam is being used but when you upload the finished project it is not the oam that is uploaded but the actual html, css and js contained within.  Dreamweaver just needs the context of everything and it can only get that from the OAM file, it is only a container.
If you wanted to take the Edge Animate assetts and put them together manually inside of dreamweaver you can do that but the OAM import is just faster because dreamweaver does it all for you.
All I can say is this is Adobe's way of doing things.

  • How can I import a google map into a word document/PC/WORD2007

I am making a flyer in Word. I want to insert a portion of the google map from the online search into the word document. I w0uld like the map image to be a 2" by2" picture on the doc.

That would be a question for Microsoft Word support.

  • I WANT TO BE ABLE TO SYNC GOOGLE MAPS INTO MY CALENDAR EVENTS on IPhone

I often find myself with spurts of time where I can look up the location of my events, but when I am on the move I don't have a lot time. It would be very helpful to be able to attach locations into my events so that when it's time to go to that event I'm not scrambling trying to find out where it is. I think this would also be helpful for people, like myself, who maintain an executive's calendar and can streamline their day as well. If there is already a way to do this please help...otherwise someone with the means to do this (ie apple/mac) should include this into the next update.
Thank you for reading this and if you can offer any help it is much appreciated.

    This works for me...
    1. From the Maps app, drop a pin and position it where your event is
    2. share that pin location via an email or MMS to yourself
    3. copy that location from the email/MMS
    4. paste it into the Notes section of your calendar event
    5. you'll then have a link to Google maps in your event for your event location
    ...all from your iPhone.

  • Inserting Google map into iweb page

    Hello
I have just bought iWeb 2, and used it to start a website at http://web.mac.com/peterdewit/toymaker/Home.html. (it comes up if you leave the end bit off!)
I followed what seemed to be incredibly simple instructions to create a Google map. It looked so easy I thought it was too good to be true. Unfortunately that turned out to be the case!
After more than one hour I gave up. A map of 1 Infinite Loop Cupertino California was determined to remain as the star attraction of my Location page. Even my wooden Royal Danish Life Guard and Grenadier Guards Drum Major couldn't remove it!
Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?
    Any help gratefully accepted.

    Here's a wild guess...
Sometime ago, I read in this forum about somebody having problems with the default email address used by iWeb for the "email me" button. It seems to get this from your personal information in "Address Book" which you filled in when you first opened the application.
If you didn't do this, it is probably still using the Apple Computer Inc. information.
Try trashing the Apple entry and make sure your own "user" one is up to date with your correct address, email etc.
I hope this helps - I DID say it was a wild guess!

  • Iweb 08 and Google Maps

    Hi Guys
I recently purchased ilife 08, mainly to get the functionality of being able to embed a Google Map into my website. This works fine on my Macbook, but when I try and upload it to my website (not a .Mac address), whilst the page displays with a big "hole" where the Google map should be, the Google map itself does not populate the page. Any ideas if this is a known "bug"?
Also, my Welcome page worked fine with iweb 06, but in iweb 08, the links to the other pages of my site at the top of the page are not visible at all. I'm currently stuck with my iweb 06 built site and unable to take advatage of the updated 08.....
Any help would be much appreciated. Many thanks!

When you publish, iWeb '08 generates three items that were not present in iWeb '06.
    They are...
    feed.xml
    Media
    Scripts
Make sure you have uploaded them to your server.
Are you talking about the navigation menu not showing in iWeb or on the published site?
If it's not present in iWeb make sure that the "display navigation menu" box is checked in the "page" inspector.
If it's not on the published site make sure you have uploaded the file I mentioned above.

  • InDesign and Google Maps

I have an Indesign file that I need export into a PDF format to be access on a Smart Board. However, I have embedded a google map into the file using the folio overlays. What is the best way to export the file and still be able to actively use the map in the file's final form?

    Hi,
    basically it's peanuts;-)
This is not a sarcastic answer, but your question is answered in detail in every DPS help resource available.
To start with, there is an official Adobe DPS help, Bob Bringhurst's great DPS Tips app, and Bob Levine's new Lynda course (not just for beginners).
Please search for the links yourself, you will find them without problem. But if you never worked with DPS before, there is some learning curve ahead of you.

  • Safari error about Google Maps API

On only one of my several macs, every time I go to a web page with an imbedded Google maps (like http://www.apple.com/buy/locator/service/), the page will not load properly, and I get an error message that says:
"The Google Maps API server rejected your request. This could be because the API key used on this site was registered for a different web site. You can generate a new key for this web site at http://code.google.com/apis/maps/."
When I go to the google maps web site that it gives instructions on how I can embed Google Maps into my own web pages.
This problem is only on one of my MAC systems. All others work fine. The first thing I tried was to clear my caches, but that did not work. Also, I get the same message when I go to a similar web page from a windows system running under VMWare Fusion.
Things to remember before you reply:
    - This is not my web page. It is all web pages that have an imbedded Google maps.
    - This happens only on my Intel MacBook. The problem does not happen on my Mac Mini, iMac, or Power Mac which are all on the same home subnet.
    - This still happens when I visit another wireless web connection.
-It happens on all virtual Machines I run on this MacBook under VMWare Fusion, Including Win XP, Vista and Linux Fedora.
Therefore it is a problem with my MacBook, and not with any webpage.
I have even posted on the Google Maps API Google Group (http://groups.google.com/group/Google-Maps-API),
but they say I need to re-register my API for my web page.
    Are there any other suggestions?
    Thanks in advance
    Jeff Cameron

This question was never answered by apple or by Google, however, after upgrading to Snow Leopard, the problem has gone away.

  • Google maps or Virtual Earth

Centigon has a nice new tool for integrating Google maps into Xcelsius - however it costs about $1K and it requires the expensive Google maps premier license.   Anyone have ideas on other ways to use Google maps or Virtual Earth for showing data within Xcelsius?   Thanks very much.   User reaction is poor to my built in continent map with little hand placed icons over the countries in which we do business - can't blame them after using Google or Microsoft mapping products.

Are they looking for interactivity, or simply a better looking picture?
One suggestion I could offer is to use is XComponents. They are really a great free alternative:

    I hope that helps!
