Embed artwork to itunes track while transfer

Hi All,
I have downloaded some iTunes album artwork by clicking on menu item Advance->Get Album Artwork, and then there were some artworks shown in itunes tracks but they were not embedded into each track they are actually being refferred from the location /Users/username/Music/iTunes/Album Artwork/Download...and then some .itc file which contains some compressed data. Now what i want is i have to transfer those files to some windows machine with artwork embedded in them but after transfer i have to again remove the artwrok from mac machine so that again itunes share it from same location i.e. ..../Download (just for not increasing the size of tracks by embedding artworks).I need to do this either by applescript or by programming can any one help me out its urgent and i think i have been able to explain my problem.
Thanks...

Can I embed the artwork from a CD album in each file in iTunes so that they can be visible on my new Sonos sound system?  I have a iMac G4 Flatpanel with OS X 10.5.8.

If you do not want them copied to the internal drive, first go to iTunes prefs -> Advanced.

  • Artwork in iTunes won't transfer to iPod

I'm having a little problem with my iPod Nano 4th Gen. I'm running iTunes on Windows XP. Everytime I create a playlist in iTunes and transfer it to my iPod, half the artwork is missing in the iPod playlist. All of the artwork is there in iTunes. I really don't want to have to add these all back in manually.
    Can anyone help?
    Cheers, Kirsten

    Hello firelight789,
I would try restoring the Nano to factory settings via iTunes. This will clear your iPod's artwork cache and rebuild it. Here are instructions on how to restore your Nano.

  • When does iTunes embed artwork?

I'm setting about re-ripping my CDs that are variably stored compressed as MP3/AAC files into Apple Lossless.
The idea was to rip lossless on one machine then transfer over network to second Mac using Home Sharing.
On one album it downloaded the artwork but got it wrong for a few tracks with different artwork.
I transferred across to second machine, and this time different tracks had the wrong artwork, so presumably it was fetching from internet each time and had not embedded the artwork initially on machine 1.
Another album had the wrong artwork entirely so I manually changed it with Get Info, and I believe this embeds the artwork in the file (so long as the files aren't referenced and are actually in the itunes music folder?) - copying this via Home Sharing and the manually added artwork was retained and presumably embedded.
Seems daft that itunes doesn't have a preference to always embed artwork.
So, anyone have any clear guide as to when artwork is or isn't embedded? Which file types (some won't support artwork/metadata) ?
I'm sure someone has a logical explanation of all this !
    Cheers.

    It can be, yes.
Use a third party app. If you are redoing your entire libary, I would suggest Muvundercover.
Good to have a recommendation, but unfortunately i'm not currently running Windows.
One issue I have with simply using search engines is that while you can often find decent cover art manually, the links seem to increasingly point to dodgy sites talking about file-sharing etc, and I am very wary of even clicking on the links.
One advantage of music downloads is that you do tend to get decent artwork even if it's not embedded, but until I can get lossless audio I see little point for most stuff when the CD is just as cheap - convenience factor and impulse buys after a few beers tend to scupper this plan though!
If itunes can rip CDs losslessly then I see little reason why the content vendors are so obstinate about allowing CD (or better) quality uncompressed legitimately purchased downloads.

  • Is it possible to stop iTunes from embedding artwork in every track?

First some info on how iTunes Cover Artwork functions: When you have a song or album iTunes gives you the option to "Get Album Artwork" and that artwork is saved to iTunes/Album Artwork folder. If there is no artwork on the iTunes store or if you don't like it, you can add your own by dragging a picture into the album artwork box.
When you get the artwork from the iTunes store it's saved as a single .itc file in the Album Artwork folder mentioned before. But if you drag and drop your own artwork, such as a JPG or PNG, then iTunes takes the liberty to embed a copy of that Cover Artwork into each track.
    _A Example:_
+*You have 600 albums or 6,000 songs(10 songs per album), and each album needs its own album picture. Ok, so a decent sized album picture is 600x600 and about 1MB in PNG format. So to do the math, 600x1MB = 600MB that's not bad price to pay for having everything look pretty.+
+*But wait! If you add your own artwork iTunes isn't just saving 1 copy of the album art per album...it's saving 10!!!(1 per track). So now you have 6,000x1MB = 6GB!+
So I was wondering, when importing album artwork, does anyone know if its possible to make it not embed the artwork in every file and instead act like the artwork downloaded from the iTunes store?
    Thanks, Quad =)

  • Embed album artwork to single track?

I know that album artwork can be embedded into an album by selecting all the tracks, right clicking, selecting get info and then pasting the picture into the artwork box within the info tab.  However, I have some single tracks that are proving to be a challenge.  When I right click, and select get info, the info tab doesn't have an artwork box.  It does have an artwork tab, but pasting a picture in that doesn't result in the artwork getting embedded in the file.
What am I missing...is there a way to embed artwork in a single track?
    Thanks

It is a minor inconvienence depending on how small your library is. It is not very logical for people with large libraries to copy paste 800 times to get every album its artwork in id3. I was able to find a solid 3rd party solution http://itsfv.sourceforge.net/ However I think iTunes should have an option to embed the artwork and write the artwork to the album's folder. I guess this has been more of a feature request than a question.

As I've already said to get this far: I have lost a lot of tracks while syncing my iPod Touch with iTunes. I have managed to get free downloads of some of the single tracks, but when I try to download entire albums the system informs me that I have already purchased them and a pop-up window informs me I can get them back from my "Purchased" file. I would not be trying to dowload them again if they were anywhere on the iPod, would I? The other problem seems to be that with single tracks I don't know before I hit the purchase button if I have picked it from the right album and I have had to pay for it again.
I feel that I have been totally ripped off by iTunes and, apart from ranting on this forum, I don't seem to be able to let my feelings known. It's like a guy from my local record store coming round and nicking my albums and telling me that it's tough!
The point here is folks, that it was syncing two Apple sites which caused the loss of these tracks and from what I've read elsewhere this is a regular fault. And please don't tell me that it's my fault for having a pc. Apple shouldn't sell a product for pc, when it doesn't work on pc!

    - Are you saying that they are not listed in your Purchased section?
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    - Are they listed in your Puchases history when you log into your account on your computer?
    - Are they still available now for purchase? If not then you are out of luck
If they are still available and listed in your Puchase History then contact iTunes

  • Itunes stops working as soon as it reads first track while importing CD (APPCRASH). Need help!

Itunes stopped working error comes up as soon as it reads first track while importing CD and needs to close program (APPCRASH). I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes several times - also ran CD diagnostics in iTunes and looks OK. I'm on Vista Home Premium Edition. If it will help I saved the CD Diagnostics from ITunes and the Windows APPCRASH info. I've spend several hours trying to figure this out. Any ideas?

Problem solved! I had my pc plugged into a port replicator to use a bigger screen, etc. When I unplugged it and tried to import the CDs it worked fine. Not sure why I got the error but whenever I get unexpected errors in the future, I will take it off the replicator to eliminate that possibility. Thanks to all who reviewed.

Yet the latest iTuns blows up playing streams. So I use this player instead: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html. • How can i transfer album artwork to itunes

can someome help me i have got some album artwork but cant seem to be able to put it on to itunes?

There are various methods of adding artwork to your songs and albums.
If you have an iTunes store account, you can use the "get album artwork" option in iTunes. You don't actually need to purchase anything from the iTunes store, just to have or create an account. Provided that the album or song for which you are looking to add artwork is available for sale in the store, iTunes will find it and add it to your library.
If you go to preferences/general in iTunes and check the box marked "automatically download missing album artwork", it will automatically add the artwork when you import a CD into iTunes.
You must have the album or song tagged in your iTunes library correctly or it may not be found. For instance, even a missing "The" before the artists name can throw up anomalies. iTunes will check each song in your iTunes library and attempt to match it up with a song in the iTunes Store. If the data matches, iTunes will download the album artwork from the iTunes Store and add it to the song in your iTunes library.
If you don't have an account or don't want to create one, here are a couple of other methods.
Highlight a song or album in iTunes, then right click on it and select the "get album artwork" option.

Go to Google Image Search and type in the artist/album name and click on search images.

Double click on a picture you like, then at the top of that page click on "see full size image".

When you get that image, simply copy/paste it into the space for album artwork in iTunes.

Make sure you select the album in the browser of iTunes before you copy/paste.

In the unlikely event that Google can’t find an image, you can also get artwork from Amazon.
If you’re happy using images from Amazon, and don’t want to copy/paste, then iTunes Art Importer is a free program to do it for you.
And for Macs, there's Album Art Widget.
You can set this to find art from Amazon, Google and elsewhere, automatically add artwork to songs, rate songs, and a bunch of other stuff.
One of the coolest widgets around.

  • Problem with artwork in iTunes 7

Since i got iTunes 7 a strange error started in my ipod video 60gb(fully updated):
First, the ipod was not showing any artwork. Then i tried to uncheck the "display artwork" field, and press apply. Then check the field againd, and press apply again. It started to optimize my artwork, but by the middle of the process, this error happened: "The ipod "Flavio" cannot be updated. An unknown error occurred
(-50).". I started searching in the internet what could this error be, and found that it is a communication problem, or something like that, but could be caused by bad (corrupted maybe) pictures, photos or artwork. I erased them all (even all the artwork) and tried the uncheck-check process again, and the same error happened. I read that it could be lack of space in my computer, but right now there are 6.6gb of free space in my c: (is it enough?) and the error still happens.
Today i plugged my ipod on a computer with iTunes 6, tried the uncheck-check process again, and surprise, it worked! Unplugged the ipod, tried playing the only song with artwork remaining, and it worked too! So i came back home and tried again with itunes 7, but the error happened again, tried the song and the artwork wasn't showing again... Ok, so i tried with a laptop, itunes 6, and it worked perfectly again, then i thought "The problem can be happening just on my computer". Updated the laptop itunes, tried unchecking-checking again, and it seemed to work, no errors, but when i played the song on ipod, the artwork was gone again! Just like when the error happened... Tried again, no errors, no artwork, tried back on my computer, error, no artwork.
2 itunes 6 -> worked, 2 itunes 7 -> problems. The only possible conclusion is that there is a bug in this new itunes, or a new way of dealing with artwork (by itunes, not by the users). Am i right? Or can anyone help me?
I was thinking about restoring, but as i am adding everything by hand, nothing automatic, it could take a lot of time to choose everything again, and to make all the playlists again... And after seeing that this could be a bug, and could happen again, i decided to post everything here before restoring, to see if there is a better solution.
Thank you for helping! (or at least for reading this huge post, and sorry for my bad english...)

there is some problem with i tunes 7(the7.0.1 patch also) in that any artwork found by i tunes is visible whilst viewing tracks in your library if you transfer said tracks to your ipod then the artwork is not transferred, also it you use album artwork as your screensaver then artwork found by i tunes is not used. i can only think that something is not beeing written to the id tags of the tracks. any artwork found by yourself and dragged into the relevant box on the track or album information screen(called up by apple+i)is seen on itunes and by the screensaver. i have spoken to apple support and they assured me that they would get back to me as they had to investigate.that was a month ago. if the problem really bugs you then you can drag artwork found by itunes onto your desktop and then back into the tracks id screen. this remedys the problem but is tedious to say the least. hope this helps

  • Can't add artwork - bizarre iTunes behavior

Okay - this is bizarre - I imported an album into iTunes 9 (downloaded from the Artist's website).  I added the artwork and changed the genre and number of tracks, but these changes only "stuck" to about 4 of the 19 tracks.  No matter what I did, I couldn't add the artwork to the 15 tracks that needed it.  And - interestingly - if I next/previoused through the tracks on the album, all of the values that I changed would revert to the original values the tracks had when they imported.  It was almost as if iTunes couldn't change the ID3 tags in the mp3 files.  (Well, I guess it really couldn't when it came down to it.)
I solved the problem by right-clicking all the tracks and selecting "Create MP3 verssion" - essentially duplicating the MP3 files.  I was then able to successfully get my changes to "stick" to the new files.  (And then I deleted the originals I imported.)
What is this strange strange behavior all about?

There are three common causes for this:
your media are in a format that doesn't accommodate embedded artwork - typically WAV files.  To embed artwork you'll need to convert to another format - Apple Lossless or AIFF if you want to preserve lossless quality, AAC or MP3 otherwise.
your media files are read only - to fix this, use Windows Explorer to find the folder that contains your files, right-click and select Properties.  On the General tab there's a check box labeled "Read-only" - if this is checked, or is grey (sometimes blue), click the box so that the flag is unchecked and the box is white.  Click OK, and then OK again when the "Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files" option selected.  Now try adding the artwork again.
Windows permissions issues are preventing iTunes from updating your media files (there's some anecdotal evidence of a change in this behavior in iTunes 12).  See turingtest2's notes on Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows for advice on fixing this, then try adding the artwork again.

  • Album artwork for each track

    Hi all,

Your post is a little vague. Something useful for you here perhaps?
*Why is artwork not showing on my iPod when it's there in iTunes?*
iTunes will display a cover in many of it's views provided at least one track from the album has embedded or downloaded artwork. The iPod appears to load only the artwork from the first track to create the cover flow and album views which means that it can sometimes fail to display art for albums even when you can see the art in iTunes. Further, when tracks are played on the iPod, artwork is displayed if and only if it exists for the currently playing track, so track one may show art while track two does not.
*How to find tracks without artwork*
To find all the tracks without artwork so that you can update them you can try http://www.stum.de/itunes-find-tracks-without-artwork/ for Windows or http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=trackswithoutartwork for Macs. Use Google, Amazon, Discogs etc. to locate relevant images. Ideally these should be square, 320x320 pixels or above and borderless to give the best results in the various menus.
I say 320x320 because I believe (from using TouchCopy) that it's the size used in the iPod cache so if you're going to crop or resize a smallish image you might as well work to that size. Otherwise 200x200 is probably a good minimum size. iTunes store art seems to be generally 600x600 which is probably a good maximum.
I've not, so far, been able to locate a script to automate the process of replicating art from a track that has it to other tracks of the same album without art (or work out how to write one actually I could do it now so I'll probably have one ready in the next few days...) however if you have artwork for some tracks of an album, but not others, find the album in the main music folder, select a track with artwork, right-click (Control-Click for Macs) on the art & click copy, then select all the tracks of the album, use CTRL-I or Command-I to *Get Info* and then paste the image into the artwork box.
    *Rebuild artwork cache*
Sometimes the artwork cache becomes corrupt and fails to show correct artwork, even when this is properly set up in iTunes. To rebuild the artwork cache *(Pre iTunes 9 only)*, connect your iPod to iTunes. Locate the iPod in the Sources pane on the left-hand side, then select the Music tab. Remove the tick from *Display album artwork on your iPod*, sync the iPod, reselect the option & sync again. *Post iTunes 9*, the only option is a full restore of the iPod.

  • Missing Artwork in iTunes & iPhone-Adding

For use with my new iPhone I purchased a new UMPC computer, i.e., Samsung Ultra Q1. Transferred music collection from my windows laptop, approximately 450 songs, 91 Albums. Installed iTunes 7.3.0.54. Added music folder to iTunes and iTunes converted the music as most were in WMA format. Synched iPhone and with the exception of missing artwork iPhone music looks fine.
    A. One Album has artwork in iTunes but did not transfer over to iPhone. Any ideas what I should do?
    B. Out of 96 albums 43 need to get Artwork. Tried having iTunes search/get but it was unable to find. From reviewing forums looks like I need to add manually. I have found the artwork in the respective music/cd folder on the original/source laptop. Looks like there is a large JPG and small JPG for the artwork, which one should I use to add to track/album manually. I assume once I get all the artwork on the albums in iTunes it will transfer over to my iPhone on the next sync.
    Thanks

    Hey Kristopherk07,
The smaller version of the artwork or thumbnail was probabbly being used by your other music application, I would use the larger version though.
