Embed audio to export in pdf

I just ran the update for Pages IOS and I want to embed an audio file into the document.  Which I can do.  But when I export the document into PDF, I can't get the audio to show?  I have tried a hidden hyperlink, but it still doesn't show?
Any thoughts?
Nathan

Pages has never supported imbedding audio or video files in files exported as PDF. You would need to use a higher end PDF program such as Acrobat Pro to do this.

  • Embed audio and movie into pdf

Since acrobat pro 9 is not available for mac I don't understand why Apple can't embed audio and movie into pdf. This is a really needed feature. Oh and also creating spreads in pages09 is needed as well. I want to use pages to create ebooks with audio and movie data etc come on Apple get it sorted .. You have an amazing program here and could clout Adobe on the head if you implemented these features.

  • How to embed audio clips into pdf document

Hello I have a two-hour lecture I've transcribed. There are about 20 paragraphs. I want to embed the audio of the lecture into the pdf document so that when the reader clicks on a paragraph or on a button/control near the paragraph the audio for that particular paragraph starts up. An ideal version of this would be in pdf format and would allow the reader to click anywhere in the pdf and have the audio start from that point. I've never embedded audio before. I also have InDesign, Lightroom and Photoshop and can use them to embed audio before exporting to pdf.

The exact process will depend on the version of Acrobat you have. In AA7, I just selected TOOLS>Advanced Editing>Sound Tool and added a sound file to the document. There were options for AA5 and AA6 compatibility as well as for embedding the sound file in the PDF.
When you select the sound file, it asks if you want to play the file or accept the file as trusted for future requests. The file then played just fine. When I added the link, I was given a box to use to surround the area of interest on the page. You can set the border color and such (like make it invisible, though that might confuse folks).
I am not sure what more you want. It is possible to add audio to open when you open the page also as well as set timing for the page. That would provide a way for the person to essentially have a lecture presented on your system without having to intervene. For the playing of the pages and timing, you may ahve to have the file open in full-screen, not sure.

  • Best audio format to embed for export to pdf?

Hello, I was wondering what format for audio file would be best to embed for exporting to pdf. I want to embed the audio file in a button, for playback on mouseover in the exported pdf. Previously, when I had CS3, I actually had to convert my mp3s to avi files, as (believe it or not) that turned out to be the only format that would play back properly with a toolbar in the pdf, and only after I changed the media player (from quicktime to flash) for EACH audio file in the pdf. It was a headache trying to embed hundreds of audio files and I'm just wondering if CS5 has improved.

Steve, that's (if I remember right) why I had to convert my mp3s to avi when I used CS3; because when I played them back in the exported pdf there was no controller-- but there was for avi. The problem I then had was with Acrobat/reader, which had quicktime set as the default player, so when I clicked the button to play the audio (avi) file, the pdf froze. This I solved by changing the default player FOR EACH audio file in the document (there were over 400) to adobe flash player; and because the audio was avi, as you say, a nice controller appeared, which disappeared once the audio finished. This was an OK workaround, if it wasn't for the fact that because I was using the flash player, the interactive pdf couldn't be used by mac users-- which many of the ebook's readers are. D'oh! So now I'm thinking to just stick with the mp3 format, now that Indesign can handle mp3s, and as you say, create buttons for stop and playback; this also solves the problem of having to post-export adjust the player settings for each file, which is not very fun, because when you edit the indesign document for future versions, it's kind of an annoyance to import pages to replace pages in the pdf without replacing the audio files. Anyway. Steve thank you for thinking out the finer details of my issue; I appreciate it and will have a go at making buttons, and let you know how that goes for such an interactive pdf. Thanks also Bob for the reply.

  • InDesign doesn't let embed the font while exporting to PDF

I used a font while working on a document in InDesign and later while exporting to PDF I got a warning that the software is unable to include that font.
Is there a way to go around it? It was a free cyrillic font and it's not possible to buy it. I suppose creating outlines is not the right way to go
    Thanks in advance

… Most free fonts that I know of don't allow embedding - for this reason it's not a good idea to use a free font. …
I'm no particular fan of so-called “free fonts” — you most often get exactly what you pay for. However, that having been said, in my years of gathering such fonts for debugging and problem solving, in fact very few of them are actually set with the protection bits to prohibit embedding. For TrueType and OpenType fonts, you can readily check outside of InDesign as to whether a font is embeddable in a PDF file. For Windows, right-click on a font file and check the properties; embedding privileges are described in one of the tabs. For MacOS, the FontBook utility can provide the same information for a font.
The problem is that when you attempt to use a font that is physically protected against embedding, you pretty much need to follow the advice given by Eugene. Personally, I would recommend the use a different font option, checking the font prior to using it for your rights to embed it in PDF.
Note that font licensing is legal minefield. Many fonts that are posted on-line are not really free. Some are shareware with restrictions in their written licenses that require payment for commercial use (often in ReadMe files which may somehow be “lost” when such fonts are reposted over and over again) or even pirated fonts (i.e., commercial fonts simply illegally posted on-line).
My personal recommendation is that for any commercial use, you explicitly license your fonts from a known, reliable source to avoid possible legal issues in the future.

  • Export to PDF - Does not embed font

    Hello,
I have created my CV in Pages. However when exporting the file as a PDF, my chosen font refuses to embed/render when I open it on a Windows computer. The specific error is:
Cannot extract the embedded font 'LSHFUS+MuseoSlab-100'. Some characters may not display or print correctly.
The resulting PDF displays correctly on my Mac, iPad and iPhone, but not on any Windows computer.
Can anyone suggest what I might do to get this to work in Windows, and whether there are other applications available that help with exporting Pages documents to PDF?
    Thanks,
    Saj

Thanks for posting the links Koenig, hopefully we can figure out whether it is a font issue or a Windows issue. It's impractical to stop using non standard fonts, so I really don't want to go down the route of just using Arial/Verdana in my documents.
I'm not the one urging you to do that. I think that we must be free to choose our fonts (even ugly ones if we want and I must say that I see most ugly ones than well formed ones).
I did what I was able to do:
I downloaded the fonts, used them in a document.
    Print a PDF , export a PDF.
Then, I stored the two PDFs on a memory stick which I connected to an other machine which don't know what is MuseoSlab 500.
The result is exactly the one which I got on the first machine.
Also, how can I check if the font subset was embedded correctly in the PDF?
Given the behaviour described some lines above, I assume that the embedded subset is correctly formed but, I can't guarantee that.
This is why I asked peter to test because if I understand well, he has access to both operating systems.

exports to html & pdf are missing audio entirely.
the audio assets are not in the html folder.
i am not doing anything complicated, one .tiff image per page, approx 12mg apiece.
one soundtrack and one additional page specific audio track.
box checked for saving audio files in preferences and while 'saving'.
tried triggering with 'begin audio' builds.
tried different approved formats for audio.
tried different themes. at default settings.
i am out of ideas. any suggestions?

Sound files are not included in html or pdf exports. There is no way to make it happen. If you need the sound you can export as Quicktime.

  • When exporting to PDF all audio is lost

I am trying to export a Keynote presentation to PDF. But, when I do so the audio is not exported, the pages with audio are without audio. Exporting to Quicktime is fine, the audio exports, but not with PDF. I know there is a way to do it, because I have seen pdf's with audio that were created by exporting from Keynote, but I do not know how to do it. Can anyone explain?
    Thank you

PDFs can contain media files, but I don't think this is, or can be, done using KN's "export to PDF" alone. According to this article (<http://www.ehow.com/how5846274insert-sound-file-pdf-document.html>) you can do it only with the paid version of Acrobat, and it sounds as if you have to add the media file, as an extra step, to a PDF you've already made. (Found this by googling: PDF "insert audio")

  • Export Embedded AAF Error - "Cannot embed audio source error number -2147483647"

I have a sequence that I need to send to an audio post house running ProTools. We have agreed to send an AAF for delivery. The sequence I have prepped looks like this:
    - All video and video tracks deleted (except V1);
    - All audio effects & volume removed;
    - All audio transitions removed.
I export the sequence, am presented with a choice to embed the media into the AAF:
It runs and begins to build the AAF but I get this error message: "Cannot embed audio source "/Volume/...." because an error occurred when writing essence data. Premiere ASL error number: -2147483647".
What is causing this error and how can I prevent this from happening? It is very frustrating and causing a lot of trouble.
I should mention that I can export an OMF fine with "encapsulated media".

  • How to embed SWF in InDesign and export as PDF?

I am trying to do something that seems very simple, but I can't get it to work. I have a simple SWF animation that I have exported from Flash CS5, and I have placed it into my Indesign CS5 document. I checked these items in the Media panel:
    Play on Page Load
    Poster: From Current Frame
When I export the PDF, I select PDF/X-4 and choose Interactive Elements: Include Appearance. I get a still image of the animation in the PDF, but it doesn't play. Why?

Hi, I have the same issue??
Even when exporting as an interactive pdf.
My problem is that I am trying to figure out how to export my swf embedded file into an interactive pdf.
I have created an interactive presentation with buttons, effects etc. After which I exported to swf so that all the effects work.
But when placing the swf file back into indesign and exporting again as an interactive pdf it doesn't work at all, all I get is a white screen. (I need a pdf for clients basically, they dont want any swf or flash files.)
Even though after placing the swf file, in the media window I ticked play on page load as well as chose a cover image for the swf file. Still just a white screen when exporting.
To repeat, I need to know how to convert my swf file into an interactive pdf.
Any pointers please would be great I have some swf presentations I need to change into pdf as soon as possible or before tomorrow to be exact before our monthly meeting with clients.
    Please help

  • Crystal Reports 2008 export to PDF does not render Japanese fonts

    Hello,
I have searched the forums for this issue, and there does not seem to be a clear resolution to this problem.  We are using CR2008 to create RPT files that are bundled with our custom .NET 2005 application, which then generates reports in PDF format by running the RPT files against an access mdb database using the CR2008 runtime (our application is deployed on a different machine than the one that is used to create the RPT files).  The issue we are having occurs when data in the access mdb file contains Strings with Japanese characters.  The system that our application is running on does contain the eastern asian language fonts so if a user opens the mdb file using access, they can see the Unicode strings in the database rendered properly (rather than the usual boxes and garbage).  However, once our application generates the report filling in the rpt file with data from the mdb and exporting the report to pdf format, the entries that should contain Japanese font data, which leads me to believe the problem is in the export pdf function of the crystal reports 2008 runtime.  Is there anyway we can configure the runtime to properly embed the fonts in the PDF so that the users can view the Japanese content from the database.  Our users end up viewing reports on both OSX and Windows using Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Thank you very much in advance

    Thanks for the quick reply!
    1) Exact version of Crystal Reports. (Open Crystal Developer. Go to Help> About Crystal Reports).
    12.0.0.683
    Type: Full
    2) What happens if you export the report to PDF format from the standalone Crystal Reports Designer?
Same result.  The entry shows up as giberish in the report designer preview...however, by doing this I stumbled upon something.  See below
    3) Are you able to export the report to other formats without any issue?
    See Note below
    NOTE:
In another part of the report, I just put the fields in question directly in the report (that is, not embedded in a text object).  That part of the report when run produces the correct non-gibberish, properly rendered Japanese result (in the CR designer preview).  The same field, however, when embedded in a text object, results in the gibberish being shown in the designer preview as well.
Now when I export this to PDF, that ends up turning both areas into the incorrect, gibberish result.  Both the one that did properly render in the preview (field not embedded in text object) and the one in the text object.
Exporting to any other format (tried xls, rtf and html) results in correct rendering for the field not embedded in the text object and incorrect rendering for the field embedded in a text object.
Hope this helps with the problem, and I think it means this thread probably still belongs under this current forum.
    Cheers

  • Using the JRC, RTF embedded in Crystal while exporting to PDF

Are there enough acronyms for ya?  I donu2019t think so either.
I am wondering if anyone else has experienced the problem I am facing and what fix, if any, did they find.  I have RTF data stored in the database I am trying to read into a report.  I set the text interpretation to RTF on the field and u201Cyeah!!u201D I have formatted RTF data as the user entered it in a RTF editor.
While using the JRCu2019s exporter to obtain a PDF format, the formatting set in the RTF tags is no longer being honor during the export (it shows up unformatted when I open the report in Adobe Reader and so my PDF display in code is also off).
Has anyone else encountered this and what did you do to fix it (or was it fixed)?
    My little about my environment:
    -JVM 1.5
    -Crystal jars version 11.8.5
    -Eclipse 3.4
    Did I miss anything?
From what I have read on here, it sounds like the Crystal jar 12.2.2 is better at supporting fonts in PDF exports but there is something in the sample code not allowing me to use a JDBC connection over a JNDI connection so I will have to get back to whether it is fixed under 12.  Regardless though, version 12 is not really a good solution for us for I believe this to be Crystal 2008 which we are not budgeted to license so I need to stick with CR XI R2 jar files.
I also found this in the thread entitle Greek fonts doesnu2019t appear on pdf export :  u201CExport it to editable RTF and then using Word 2007 has a plugin that allows you to export to PDF format which will embed the fonts.u201D  Is this what I need to do to display fonts that are normally found on a Windows installation (ie Arial, Times New Roman, Courier, etc.)?
Thanks in advanced for any light you may shed on this.

Your file may be larger than the maximum dimensions for a PDF (not sure what they are, currently). Try working at half-size in ID and see if it makes a difference.
