Embed Font Option

Hi there illustrator friends,
I'm from COGEN-Belgium and I am looking for a way to have the option "embed font" ticked on by default on save instead of save as, when working on an .eps document... any idea?
Thanks for your participation.
Regards.
Alain

Thanks Jeshua,
For a better understanding, one has to know that we translate contents of illustrator files.
We do that by extracting any editable text from the files with an illustrator to word bridge-routine of ours, translate it, then re-put the translated text to its original place in the file.
The thing is that the option is on when the original source file is created.
The problem happens when we reopen the document for dtp after we have passed our routine.
It seems that the action switches the embed font option from on to off.
Any idea how we can get the files to be saved with the option on without having to do a save as is welcome.
Cheers.

  • How to enable Embed Fonts option in Forms Properties:

    Hi,
I could not able to enable this option. Please help.

You must save the file as .pdf for these options to be available. Saving the file as either .xdp or .tds greys them out.

  • Does Pages '09 embed font in PDF?

Well, my subject says it all.
Some PDF creators on Windows have the "embed fonts" option. Pages doesn't. However, I don't know if it does it by default when exporting to PDF.
    Thanks,

Absolutely correct. Almost. There is an exception in the rare case where fonts contain a flag that they cannot be embedded. There is some license restriction with these fonts.
You should get a message, when they are not embedded, but if you want to make doubly sure, open the generated PDF in Adobe Reader and check the file properties in the File menu. There you can see which fonts are embedded.

  • Force "Save As" Dialog to enable "Embed Font" check box

We're trying to initiate the save as dialog from the sdk but we want to be able to force the "Embed font" option to be checked upon entry of the dialog.
If the user has used "Save As" before and manually checked the box, it will remain check.  However, if it has not, we can't find a way to force it on.  It appears Illustrator is saving and restoring this status in its own way but we can't seems to be able to find a way to control it from the SDK.  Anyone knows how to do that?
    Thanks.

This is really unbelieveable that Adobe is apparently unable to detect the version of Windows that they are running on and alter the Dialog box to suit! I can only imagine that their code base is so bad and riddled with old legacy stuff that their developers are unable to make this change without breaking everything. In which case, why even bother to bump to a new major version of X ?
    Why do we support this?
Chris Cox, your answer of "We've been trying to - but we still have to support XP and Vista." is unacceptable. You know how to detect that you are running on Windows 7 and you can still support XP and Vista. Any developer out there know this.

  • How to Embed Fonts and make Grayscale in Acrobat Pro 9 PDF

I supplied my printer with a PDF but he says that I need to "Embed The Fonts" in the PDF.
I made the original document in MS WORD and then I created the PDF in Acrobat Pro 9 but nowhere
along the way did I see anything that asked me to Embed The Fonts.
He also says that the type is in RGB but it needs to be in Grayscale.
When I created the PDF I didn't see any option along the way that gave me a choice between
    RGB and Grayscale.
Any ideas how to achieve these two effects while going from an MS WORD document to a PDF using
    Acrobat Pro 9 please?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Sorry to bother you with my problem but I wondered if you could explain a little bit more about things I didn't understand.
1 - you said > On a Mac there is no advantage to using the Word plug-in.
Do you mean that I can type directly into Acrobat?
I thought that a document needed to be created in a word processor first before I could turn it into a PDF.
    Is that incorrect then?
2 - > Create the pdf file a print file menu gives you greater control.
I do apologize but I did not understand this statement either, could you please expand on it a little (to a non-techie.)
3 - > If you use the Press job option setting, the fonts will be embedded.
I can't find Press job option setting anywhere - I am using Acrobat pro 9 but there doesn't seem to be a menu with Press
anywhere, could you please expand on this a little bit too please.
4 - > If the pdf file has already been created it can be converted to greyscale using the Preflight or Convert Colors
    under Advanced -> Print Production.
I understood this part and I executed it according to your instructions so thank you for that.
Unfortunately I couldn't find out how to embed my fonts and my printer charged me $75 to do that
so I was pretty upset about not being able to understand that part of your explanation.
Since the printer was able to embed the fonts in a document that was already a PDF then it must be possible
to embed fonts after a PDF has been created, is that correct?
If that is correct then i don't know how I could not find how to do it because I looked everywhere for that
ability but I could not find how to do it.
I'd be very grateful for any further help you could give, thank you.

  • How to embed fonts in document for all users

    Hello,
we are using a custom font for our documents. I know it's possible to embed fonts in document when saving.
Is there an option to enforce this setting with a policy?
I cannot find the right policy in the Office Policy templates.
We are using Office 2013 x86.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Based on my knowledge, the option is document-based, we can't control this on the Policy level.
If your request is to turn on this option for all new created documents. Since all new documents are based on the Normal.dotm template, a workaround is to create a new Normal.dotm template in which this option is checked:
Browse to C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates, open Normal.dotm, tick the option and save it as Normal_1.dotm, save it in the same location.
Then rename the old Normal.dotm to Normal.old, rename Normal_1.dotm to Normal.dotm.
Open Word and create a new blank document, you will see this option is ticked.
To deploy this file for all users, we can write a startup script. The process is like: 1. Remove the old Normal.dotm, 2. Copy the new Normal.dotm template from a network shared location to C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates.
I hope the information is helpful to you.

  • How to embed fonts in PowerPoint?

Is it possible to embed fonts in a PowerPoint presentation?

I just spent a half an hour looking through the menus and Help and I couldn't find an option to enable that feature. It doesn't seem to be available. But, that doesn't mean it's not possible. There are certainly work-arounds, like printing your slide show and then choosing to save as a PDF. The PDF could be displayed with Acrobat Reader on any computer and the fonts would be imbedded.

  • How to specify to the JRC to not embed fonts in PDF ?

I don't want the JRC to embed fonts in the generated pdf, could you please tell me the way to do this ?

I think there's no option for this. Though, using JRC's before the JRC included with Crystal Reports for Eclipse V2.0 will default to this behavior.

  • How to embed fonts in an existing pdf document

PDF Documents I am creating and emailing to my clients are showing up missing bargraps and text. I suspect embedding is not working. Is it possible or even needed to embed fonts in an existing pdf document? Or, is that done during pdf creation? -MikeT

You'd want embedded fonts with your PDFs so as to assure fidelity of your content.
If my local machine does not have the font used in the PDF what I view may be / can be something "off" from what you mastered.
Perhaps squares instead of language characters.
Distiller job options such as High Quality Print or Press Quality embed fonts (Standard does not).
For a PDF that does not have embedded fonts a Preflight Fixup can be used to embed fonts (even one for hidden text from Searchable Image or Searchable Image (Exact) OCR output).
Need Acrobat 9 Pro or Pro Extended.
The fonts must be on the local machine and "known" to the OS.
The fonts must have no license restriction(s) that preclude embedding.
    Be well...

  • How to embed fonts / characters

    Hi,
Can someone help me learn how to embed fonts?
    I'm using flash 8.
    Thanks!!!!

"do i need to do this for both static and dynamic text?"
    Not for static text.
"i don't see an embed option - i went to library - new font -
and then there is an option to click ok???"
After you select the New Font option, find the font you want
to embed in the dropdown, then hit ok. click your text field once,
and in the properties panel, select the font that you just
embedded.. *Refer to my previous post to tell the difference of an
    embedded font and non-embedded font.

  • Can I embed fonts of all Dynamic Text objects in a Flash file?

    Hi there!
I'm fairly new to Flash, so please bear with me.
I have created a Flash file which will act as our company's standard presentation / portfolio of all previous projects.  I've pretty much got it running the way I want, but I've just tried it on a few different computers and realised that the fonts aren't embedded.  I've used our corporate font so it needs to look right.  Having read the following documentation (http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/9.0/main/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm?context=Liv eDocs_Parts&file=00000893.html) I now understand how to embed fonts for one dynamic text object at a time.  However, I have a lot of different dynamic text objects in the file and I would dearly love to embed them all in one step!  The same embedding options can be applied to just about all objects, as they're all the same size and font.
I hope someone can help me.  If you are able to help please spell things out in simple steps!!  I am aware that I probably haven't yet grasped a number of the basics of Flash.
    Thanks in advance,
    Stuart

Static text doesn't need to be embeded. So I'm not sure what the problem you are having is. The page you linked to is for making an embedded font in your library that can then be exported for actionscript and used by code and style sheets. If you are following the instructions on the page you liked to you only need to do that once. Which shouldn't be too hard.
That is usually a different problem that having a bunch of different authortime created textfields that need to have characters embedded.
As far as I know your only hope to change a bunch of authortime/library items is using JSFL. So even if the thing I pointed to isn't exactly what you need you could keep googling a bit or use that as a template.
JSFL files are just text files so open it in note pad. Look for the line:
    if(it[i].itemType == "movie clip")
    and change it to this:
    if(it[i].itemType == "movie clip" || it[i].itemType=="button")
Now it does buttons. You give up too easy.

  • Embed fonts when saving as eps

    Hi
When saving a file as an illustrator eps I would like the default option to NOT embed fonts.
Does anyone know if this is achievable and, if so, how to do it?
    Cheers
    Wayne

    Hi John
    Thanks for your input.
I'm aware of the benefits of embedding fonts in Illustrator files but, to cut a long story short, files with fonts embedded show up as an error when put through the flightcheck application program. (And I have tailored the Ground Controls to suit including disabling the embedding fonts option.)
    Kind regards

  • CS3/AS2 -Text Scroll Box Cannot Embed Font, Need To Link Font From Server??

Hi all - ok here goes somethin
So I bought a text scroller flash file and am now trying to tailor it to my needs.
    This is it: http://activeden.net/item/dynamic-external-text-scroll-with-easing/2612
It is composed of several movieclips which link to the an external text file. The external file starts off with this
    mytext= <font color="#000000" size="7">BACKGROUND</font>
This file determines the size and color of the font but does not define the actual font itself, it also contains the content. There is a movieclip within the flash file where you can denote a device font or embed a font from the properties panel.
Starting off I simply picked my font from the properties panel and used "anti-alias for animation". This seemed to work fine on the Flash preview and also once published online. However, once I used another computer to view my site the font changed and reverted to a default. This leads me to believe the font is linked to each computers font library. I am wondering if there is a way to override this and to link the font to a place on my server?
I also tried to embed my font via the properties panel but it looks warped and unrecognizable, so thats out. Unless there is another way to embed fonts that stays true to the font?
To add more fuel to the fire, the font I have to use is not html safe .. "Gotham" to be exact.
You can see the issue here on the 'about' and 'links' page
    http://nicoleginelli.com/weeks/index_9.html
    Help meeeeee!
    - Nicole

I tried this but the text looks warped and much different than it should. Seems anyway I embed it in the properties panel looks this way.. any other options??

  • How do I edit the default settings to always embed fonts?

How do I edit the default settings in Acrobat Pro XI to always embed fonts?

Do not use the Std job settings, but use the Press or Print settings. You can also edit the properties of the Job Settings (best done in Distiller) to not exclude any fonts and embed all as subset fonts. Be sure to check the option to continue if embedding is not possible or your creation will fail if you used a font that is not licensed for embedding (Acrobat will only embed fonts that are legally licensed for embedding -- most are, but not all).
If you edit the Std, you will need to save to a new name. You might use MyStd or such. Then go to the Start>Printers and edit the properties of the Adobe PDF printer to make that settings file the default. If you use PDF Maker, you will have to change the PDF Maker preferences also (PDF Maker seems to use the last selection, not the default in the printer). Hopefully that is clear enough.
