Embed iFrame Apple Trailers

Hi everyone, thanks for any help on this. I've been seeing apple trailers posted on sites with an iframe embed. The embed has a border with several links, one to the itunes trailers page, the movie page, the gallery, and also social media links including twitter and facebook. I can see the code contains a link for http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/embed/thismovieorthat/index.html if I view the page source.
Is there a place on the trailers.apple.com site that you can find the embed code for a certain trailer?

Thanks for the reply Jon, I threw the code you provided up on the site and it started playing as soon as I loaded the page. It didnt' have any options to pause or move ahead or rewind via a navigation bar. Is this what you see as well?
Yes and no. It depends on your work flow. As I previously stated, I am testing widgets for playbck in an iBooks compatible document on an IOS device. Since the OS environment and player support is thereby very limited, I took the liberty of minimizing the code. Basically, the trailer plays as you describe in the app being used to create the widget. However, since my default browser for previewing the widget project is Safari which, in my case, still has default player support installed on my Mac system, here is what I see when the cursor hovers over the preview player screen:

Am not an HTML programmer, but I assume in your case the problem is in not adapting the code I provided to the specific OS environments and/or player software you are targeting.
I agree, I don't see the embed info on the site. I'm not sure why the info isn't supplied.
Apple may feel it is not necessary to provide such code since the trailers are freely avaiable for download via both QT 7 Pro/QT X Players and iTunes. Which is why I used one for this test widget using the traile'rs URL rather than uploading a downloaded trailer to my own server space as in a previous test. (I.e., this is all a new learning experience for me.)

Apple trailers won't play

i downloaded Divx Player and now i cant't watch trailers on the apple trailers page. i get sound but no video. can anyone help?

Uninstall the Divx Player, repair permissions, restart your computer. Either use Quicktime 10 or Quicktime 7 which is located inside your Utility Folder.
Still having trouble? Install Perian, repair permissions and restart your computer after the installation.

Quicktime works for Apple QT test page but not for Apple trailers

I'm using XP Pro SP2. I've installed the latest QT 7.1.3. Looking at http://www.apple.com/quicktime/troubleshooting/
QT works fine. But on going to any of the websites at Apple trailers I just get QT with a question mark logo.
I've read the posts with similar problems but there seem to be no definitive answers.
Is it possible for anyone in Apple to suggest a solution.

If you go to your account page there should be a Downloadable Software Purchases link on the left, and that takes you to a page that should show your QT Pro number.

Apple Trailers won't play after update to Snow Leopard

I recently upgraded from Tiger to Snow Leopard and the only glitch I have encountered is that Apple Trailers will not play. The computer screen darkens and the movie viewer screen pops up, but the viewer screen remains black and no movie appears. I have tried reinstalling Snow Leopard and updating to 10.6.1, but still no trailers. Any idea what's going on and what I should do? Many thanks.

Mine seems fine, but you might post a link to a specific trailer.
It's possible it may be Flash related, some early disks broke Flash.
What version of QuickTime do you have? Which browser are you using?

Why did apple trailers and quicktime stop working together all of a sudden?

I'm running Chrome and Firefox and Apple Trailers suddenly stopped launching HD trailers through Quicktime X. It was working automatically a few weeks ago. The only info i can find on the net is years old. Anyone else having this problem? Anyone fix it?

I've been having the same problem, I think since updating to Lion. HD trailers will only load through Safari, no other browser.

Playing quicktime videos other than apple trailers

Hi everyone,,,I just got a Touch, but can't play quicktime videos on my site or any other, besides the ones on the apple trailers page. Is it normal, do I need to update the software????? Thank you for your help...and Happy New Year!!!

yes, you can watch videos on webpages.. You go to the webpage and instead of seeing the vdideo on the page you will see a little play button, you press that and it opens the video up in a player...

Apple Trailers question...

Hey guys, I posted this on the Final Cut forum but I thought this might also be viable here since it's also a Quicktime issue.
I was wondering if you could enlighten me with how to get my videos online to stream as fast and as high quality as the movies on the Apple Trailers site.
I know they use h264 settings, but I can't seem to place what bit rate they use, and how they have that fine balance between good quality and fast streaming. I'm pretty sure it has a lot to do with Apple's fast servers, but I was hoping to find a setting in FCP that will let me show my videos online as close to this quality as possible. Youtube quality not an option, it irritates me because a lot of a film's elements are lost in pixelization.
I downloaded a trailer from Apple Trailers and here's the info:

Codecs: H.264. AAC. Timecode
Channel Count: 2
Duration: 02'29
File size: 14mb
So as you can see, the bit rate isn't specified.

I tried using the settings above with 500kbps as my bit rate, and it estimates around 3+ hours to render out (this is a 6 minute film using Final Cut Pro, 1GB of RAM). Does it usually take this long?It sounds excessive to me, but then you have not indicated what source (SD or HD) you are sharting with, what filters may have been applied, whether or not your clip is being "rendered" before conversion, or what mode (single-pass or multi-pass) you are using. For instance, if you have selected multi-pass, then encoding in a single-pass mode may cut your time in half. If you are starting with an HD file and are targeting it for a two thirds of the of the trailer target data rate, then additional iterations are likely required to reduce the data rate to the lower target level. Since you did not say what target dimension you are using, you may be forcing extra iterations to here also. I normally use a 512 Kbits/sec (480 Kbps video + 32 Kbps mono) for a 320 x 240 H.264/AAC Baseline profile encode. Other tricks would be to lower the target size during encode and play the file back at a larger size. Here is a 516 Kbps Sample file if you want to look it over and check out the settings.

I think the problem is only with specific pages on the apple trailers web site and not a bug with the Touch. My iPhone will go to the iPhone formatted pages (/trailers/iphone/fox/hitman) just fine. My coworker's Touch will try to go to the iPhone formatted page, but you can see the screen flash a couple of times and the url changes when it gets redirected to the non-iPhone trailer page. This page doesn't have the mobile Safari compatible version of the trailer. I think the pages that are having problems are not correctly recognizing that you are running mobile Safari. A small bit of information (called a user agent string) about your browser is submitted every time you go to a web page. The iPhone's starts out as "Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U;"... and the Touch's starts out as "Mozila/5.0 (iPod; U;"...
I think the pages you are having problems with are checking to see if the user agent string says "iPhone" in it, which it doesn't, so it redirects to the non-mobile version. Apple needs to change those pages to check to see if it says "iPhone" OR "iPod".

Apple trailers won't play AT ALL

Number one, yes, I browsed and didn't find if someone had already asked this. So, just in case I skipped over it for "x" or "y" reason and this turns out to be a repeated question/complaint... my bad.
Number two, here's the thing : I've never had problems with QT in all my years of using it (since, like 2001). Never, at all. A few weeks ago I noticed that the trailers over at Apple weren't playing, and realized they were made for QT7.
So, alright, cool, no problem. I d/led the sucker, installed it, and tried it again.
IIRC, the first trailer I tried worked perfectly.
From then on, Apple trailers just plain don't load. I get either the trailer-area with a white screen, the trailer-area with the blue QT logo and white screen, or the trailer-area with a QT logo with a "?" imposed over it and a white screen.
And at the bottom of my browser it always says "Done", and I've kept it open for an hour just in case the loading start is lagged or something. No go!
Yahoo QT trailers load fine (well, the "Pirates 2" one did) and QT files I d/l to my hard drive play like a wonder.
So, what could be the problem here?

I have just purchased and installed Apple TV. I had Apple Trailers when first installed, now it is not listed as a feature. Any suggestions?

Apple trailers not working,.. help needed...

So i have a Sony Vaio with windows 7 and was recently trying to watch trailers apple.com. I have itunes and quicktime on my computer and both work fine. BUT when tried viewing trailer it says i need to have quicktime loaded to see the trailer. Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling quicktime, had no problems, but still says i need quicktime and will not load trailers.
I have tried leaving it alone for a few days, but still same problem. I've tried loading the page through quicktime, and going through apple, but no trailers will load. any suggestions?

What settings to make QTs like Apple trailers?

Would anyone be kind enough to save me (more) hours of experimenting by suggesting compression/sample rates/streaming settings, so that I can put movies the size and quality of Apple's trailers on my site without them taking a week to load?!
I assume they're using streaming, but do you need to be running special server software in order to do this? I know that it's possible to stream without anything special, if your server knows how to deal with streaming files, but would it be as fast as this?

I prefer the H.264 codec. It is currently the most complex QT codec but allows excellent scaling and low video data rates. On the other hand, it generally requires QT 7 for playback. However, usually go with a 23.98 frame rate (as in movie trailers) rather than the 12 fps used in the "commercials." Also, most of my work is targeted for iPod/Podcasting, so I stick with a 320 pixel width. Generally speaking, halving the display reduces the required data rate by one quarter for the same playback quality and keeping all other variable constant. Here are examples of how changing the size may improve quality.

I generally use AAC Stereo 44,100 kHz at 128 kbps for iPod. Please not that the "commercials" were encoded at 44,100 kHz but only 32 kbps or 1/4 my preferred rate. If this suits your purpose, by all means go with it. In fact, if stereo is not needed, you can go with mono at 16 kbps.
Data rate: 295.90 kbits/sec
Would tend to use a higher data rate here (like 384 kbps combined or 350 kbps video with 32 kbps audio) especially if you really plan to use the larger 640x360 display. In any case, one of the above examples splits the size difference between your 640x360 and my iPod settings to give you an idea as to the variations you might emply.

Sprite and background tracks would probably not be needed for your files in a straight, normal conversion.

Apple trailers says I need to install QuickTime

I have several Macs. The one that fails to play trailers at http://trailers.apple.com is a Mac Mini OS 10.8.2. I get the big Q icon with a link to download QuickTime. Obviously, my QuickTime works fine. I use it almost daily to play movies. Disk Utility verifies no erors, permissions repaired, no improvement.
On another Mac running OS 10.6.8, the trailers polay fine, using the same router.
What's wrong?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Sound won't work, and the playback will be slow or nonexistent. The question is whether you get the missing-plugin error.
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.
