Embed QuickTime movie in Pages '09

I'm trying to embed a QT movie into a Pages document, hoping to then turn the document into a pdf file in which the QT will play. It is probably easy, but I've tried most of the obvious things through Inspector, and it doesn't seem to work. Is there a secret?

The multimedia is not retained when the .pdf is created.
You will need to use *Acrobat Pro* to add the multimedia to the finished .pdf of the document.

So in other words i design the simple page on i web and than upload it to
bluehost. How do I size a quicktime movie to be the correct size example
852x480? on the templates the movies are to small?

How did you fit a 1.5GB file into 300MB's of space?
What viewer is going to wait two or three hours (weeks on dial-up) to view a 3 minute file?
Your best solution is to link to file and let your viewers download it. Just use the complete URL as your link.

How to embed quicktime movie in keynote

Can I embed or insert a quicktime video within a Keynote Presentation? I was able to insert my quicktime file but only see a picture. Not able to play the movie.. Any suggestions? Thanks

Embed Quicktime movie... with a twist.

Hey, quick question.
I am trying to embed a video into a web page and found some source code to do so. This is a "Click to play" video, so I got everything working except for one thing...
On my other movie pages where they autoload, I can choose to resize the videos (for example, my movie files' native size is 320x240, but I have them play at 640x480) and I can hide the controller. My question is- is there any way to resize the video and hide the controller for a movie that you have to click to play? Otherwise I would have to re-export a video at 640x480, and it seems like it would just be easier if I could use the one I already have. Thanks!

Alas. My PC has finally "died" (a gift) and I can't test the issues on one.

Is listed as the page code software you've used. I don't notice any errors but you may want to invest in a more modern WYSIWYG editor (if your budget allows).
I don't "know" if the page code is interfering with a PC browser, or not. Have you tried using other PC browsers (something other than IE)? Do the troubles appear in these browsers?
The page code appear to use a mix and match code that leaves a space (and adds a closing tag) to each line in the object tag. It looks like this:
blah.something /> instead of blah.something>
You don't notice the errors in the only tag used by a Mac (the embed tag) and that is why I've reached this conclusion.
If you manually removed the (sort of redundant) closing tags (change /> to a plain > close tag does this new page work on a PC using IE?

Struggling to embed a quicktime movie into my website

I have put the movie in my local folder, before uploading it to my website proper, opened the page in which I want the movie to appear, viewed source and entered all various types of html to try and embed my movie. All I get is a box with the quicktime logo and a question mark? Sometimes I get found plug-in but error with plug-in. Any clear help here would most appreciated, this may be dot to dot for some but alien to me.

HT3775 my mac wont play a quicktime movie file, it keeps saying i need a codec and then bringing me to this page. there is no links on where to get this codec? help!!!

I try play this quicktime movie file and then it says i do not have the required codec and the only thing i can press is "ok" or "tell me more" and then it just brings me to this page, it says nothing about how to obtain this certain codec. I need this to work on my macbook! Its not the video file because it works perfectly fine on the iMacs at University. Help me out, please!

Quicktime has it's limitations and can't, natively, play certain video formats.
Try VLC. It should be able to play anything you throw at it.

Switch between multiple quicktime movies on a single page

I want them to play in a single window but use clickable links to switch between .mov files. I am working in DW CS5.

It depends on the code you are using to play the movies but it could be done with javascript. Although unless you are streaming the Quicktime movies, like a youtube, you will be forcing the user to download all the movies to load the page. If they are not setup to stream then you might want to load a separate page for each movie. If you show us the code you are currently using to play the movie we can help you through the process.

Quicktime movie - publishes a ghost file, placing on the page

I have two questions.
First - the ghost file
I dragged a Quicktime movie file to a page and then published to a folder. I realised that I had attached a 27Mb file instead of a smaller file (750k) that I had meant to. I deleted the large file (select/delete) and dragged the new file on to the page and published to a new folder. However the large file keeps publishing even though I thought I had deleted it. I always end up with the large file and small file in the published folder. How can I stop this happening?
Secondly - placing on a page
The QT movie has an area above the control bar for a graphic which I didn't fill. How can I accurately place the QT file on the page so I can line it up with text - the graphic box seems to stop text flowing around it or placing it where I want it.

I suspect your ISP is serving you an older "cached" file instead of the new "fresh" one. More common overseas than here in the U.S. and some ISP's are worse than others.
Try "refreshing" the page (Command-R in your browser) to see if it now finds the new page.
If that fails (and it may because these ISP's are so aggressive about caching) try adding a question mark (?) to the end of the address in your browser:
apple.com becomes apple.com?

Well my subject line explains it all really. I was wondering if there was a way to embed the aspect ratio in my quicktime movies instead of manually resizing them whenever i open them to a ratio that suits the content better.

I'd also love to know the answer to this. It's dead easy to amend an anamorphic movie to play at 133% of original width, but can a QT movie be told to open in that ratio the next time?
Yes, however, to some extent, the method to be employed depends on your media player. QT 7 (and similar applications), for instance, will open using the "Current Size" display dimensions contained within the file. These dimensions are easily changed in the Properties window, using QT 7 Pro while the "Keep Aspect" switch is turned off and do not re-compress the data but may re-write the date to an MOV file container. On the other hand, applications that rely on the embedded PAR flag/value (like QT X, iMovie '08/'09', etc, must be re-compressed using the correct Anamorphic setting to re-embed the correct flag. When both settings are in agreement, an anamorphic file will open correctly in all players. However, where they differ, the files will open correctly in one type player and incorrectly in the other type of player.

How to Import from Web Page or QuickTime movie

Help! I accepted what I though was an easy assignment to make a DVD of a web page clip
so my sister-in-law can show it as part of the Veteran's Day program at her school. The

so it can be played over the projection system that plays normal DVD movies.
I tried using Toast and it burned a nice coster that plays a slide show with no audio.
I could use some help on how to import a QuickTime move into something that
will burn it to a DVD.
Any help will be appreciated. Anybody need some DVD coasters?

ctrl-click on your link, choose from context-menu 'download file'.. got a 5.8MB scene4.swf file..
opened that with QTpro + perian.org plug-in.. plays..
'Export/dv' generates an audio-less file ...
2nd try:
using VisualHub, set output to dv.. boom!.. aborts.
3rd try:
using VisualHub, set output to h264 - audio only file ( ?? )
but, now I have an audio-less dv + and a video-less h264.. so, I simply copy/add trimmed the audio from h264 to the dv file in QTpro.. tadaahhh , done.
note:
I mostly doubt, that all pics in this 'show' are free for use, and not © protected..
for sure, the music has some © ...
and: as the credits tell you, the whole swf claims a © ..
be nice to copy rights ..

Can a QuickTime movie play for more than 60 seconds per page

Can a Quicktime movie be set to play for more than 1 minute per page in Keynote. I have clips that run up to 3 minutes. For now I have pulled the clip into 3 different pages and set the times to match but I get a 10 second delay between the pages that is very distracting.

Yes I am trying to set up an automatic transition after the movie has played. I have still photos between the movies. I want the entire presentation to be self running. I did use the special builds in and out and have the action set at none. The movie clip will not run more than 60 seconds?

...is that going to be true for all Quicktime movies on all sites?

You have to create a QTL file that opens the QT movie in the player. Based on the settings it opens in Full Screen.

An alternative is to publish your movies to Vimeo and embed the movie in your page. These movies can play full screen.
