EMBED VS ATTACHMENT IN MAC MAIL

How do I embed instead of e-mail as attachment in mac mail?

There is no option to embed in Mail that I am aware of. You can post your query to the experts in the Mail and AddressBook forum here:

  • I am unable to send a PDF attachment using mac mail so that it appears in the body of the email when arrives in the recipient's inbox.

    I attach the pdf file as a view in place instead of view as icon, but it arrives in the recipient's inbox as a pdf icon attachment.  I have heard that there are programs that can make the attachment be viewed in the body of the email, but i have been unable to find them.  Does anyone have any suggestions??  I have called apple care, and been to the genius bar, but nothing.  it seems that if the email is sent from mac mail to mac mail it works, but to any other mail program they only receive the icons.

    new account are created without a password, so asking for it is normal.
    see http://thunderbirdtweaks.blogspot.com.au/2011/07/pssswords.html
    Compare the passwords Thunderbird has for the other accounts and see if using the same one is what you need to do.

    HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
    There are ways to force an application to quit:
    Choose Apple menu > Force Quit, select the application in the list, and click Force Quit.
    Hold down the Command and Option keys and press Esc. Then select the application in the list and click Force Quit.
    Hold down the Option key and press the application’s icon in the Dock.
    After you force an application to quit, try using it again. If it still doesn’t work, try restarting your computer.
    I know you posted in the Snow Leoaprd Forum but please take a moment and click My Settings on the right side of this page and tell us which Mac OS X version you are running. That way you have a forum profile setup. Thanks...

  • Can I edit an Adobe Acrobat .pdf attachment in Mac Mail before I hit send?

    I have numerous .pdf approval sheets that I attach to a client’s ad in order for each client to approve, sign and fax back to me. I have many different .pdfs made up with only different counties the client will advertise in already in the .pdf. Now the publisher wants the name of each client to appear on each sheet (I have 130 clients). Is there a way of editing the text (to add client name) in .pdf attachment before hitting send in Mac Mail? I don’t want to have to redo so many different .pdf approval sheets each time in order to keep changing just client’s name on the .pdf.
    Thanks,

  • I cannot open a PDF attachment in Mac Mail

    I can see the attachment that arrived but I cannot open it on the Mac. I have no issues opening it in webmail under Windows.
    As if this would not be enough I am running into something else hard to understand. On the Mac I could not post this question, it never allowed me to go beyond entering the title for the question. I am now submitting from Windows.... Obviously I was logged in on the Mac. This is like a bad joke, having to report a Mac issue by using Windows because the Mac doesn't even allow me to report the problem...
    Any help for both issues would be appreciated.

    I sent myself 4 attachments (PDFs). Two came across as Icons, two were embedded in the Email. I was able to open and print them all. So maybe there is something "strange" about the one I cannot see/open on the Mac, only on the PC....
    Why is that some PDFs some PDFs come in as icons others are embedded?
    ================================
    Going back to the other topic I had in this thread: I can go back to this thread on the Mac. I tried to post again a new question from the Mac and I CANNOT do it.  It doesn't do anything beyond allowing me to enter the subject.
    I am wondering if there is an administrator for this form who can provide help in the is case. It is really not a good thing for Apple to require that I use a PC to get help for other problems for the Mac....  I do know that this is a user community but it does run under Apple's site, so I would assume that they moderators, administrators, etc like for other user communities who can help in a case like this one. Does anyone know how to access help for the forum? Thanks
    I agree that the one is an anomaly. I have no idea why some are embedded and some are icons.
    When you attempted to post and start a thread, did you go to "new?" That would bring up a template for starting a thread. IMHO, if you are able to post at all, there is no impediment to beginning a thread.

  • Can I change the thumbnail size while I am browsing photos to add as attachment in Mac mail using Mountain Lion OS X?

    I am new to Mac and I love my new computor, but I am still getting used to the features and how to use them more effectively.  I am interested in finding an answer to this because it can take up a lot of time going into preview mode everytime I want to add a specific photo in a folder but I am unsure of which one is the photo I had in mind.

    I don't see a slider at the bottom, but there is a slider above the list and under the thumbnails.  I didn't see it before, thank you!

  • Sending mail with attachment fails on MAC Mail and WRP400.

    Sending mail with attachment fails on MAC Mail and WRP400.
    We have hundreds of WRP400 connected with Mac (Machintosh) computers. No special configurations are applied (no virtual server or DMZ). Web navigation, P2P programs and sending mail without attachment work right.
    The problem is the impossibility to send mails with medium or big size files attachment from MAC Mail.
    If we use Windows PCs or a different linksys routers (eg. WRT54G) the problem not happens.
    We have upgraded WRP400 firmware version from 1.00.06 to 2.00.05 but the result is the same. Sending mail with attachment using Mac fails.
    We tried to configure WRP400 with DMZ to a particular MAC. We tried to configure Virtual server on tcp 25 port of a MAC. The result is always the same.
    This is a WRP400 bug? Windows PCs work right. MAC and MAC mail works right with other linksys router.
    We need help. Thanks.

    The problem was fixed since beta firmware 2.00.11.
    I think that this issue was caused from a bug that decrease upload bitrate of WRP400 after some days of activity.
    See more details on Cisco forum under title "WRP400 stops responding after browsing certain websites".
    Thanks.

    I am unable to open a PDF attachment in Mac Mail. There is not a PDF Icon in the email message. Is there a setting that should be checked?
    I have a new iMac (less than a month old) with Mountain Lion.
    Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    It is an actual PDF that is an attachment to an email. There is not a link to click on to open the attachment.
    The attachment is a statement that I normally open, then print..
    What I am seeing on the monitor is the heading portion of the email with the statement image, all on one page..It prints exactly as seen on the screen.
    I have checked my Mail>Preferences>Viewing Tab."Display remote images in HTML" messages is checked..

  • Problem for PCs recieving attached SWF files from Mac Mail 2.1.3

    Hi All,
    When I send this file from my mac mail 2.1.3 (753.1) with a SWF (flash animation) attachment the file wont open on the PC client mail. Instead when I force the unknown attachment to open it says the below with a string of letters.
    --Apple-Mail-37--496662089
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
    Content-Type: application/applefile;
    name=daft3.swf
    Content-Disposition: attachment;

    x-mac-creator=53574632;
    name=daft3.swf
    Content-Disposition: attachment;
    filename=daft3.swf

    Try creating an archive of the SWF file (.zip) and email that instead. But the recipient needs to have an application on their PeeCee that will open SWF files; Outlook or Outlook Express will not do that.

    Hi ,
    There is an option of embedding index for faster search while converting email to a PDF .
    However I am not sure that will serve your purpose or not .
    I would recommend you to get in touch with Microsoft support as well .
    Meanwhile I'll work on it and get back to you in case I get a desired solution .

  • Mac Mail- Disable inline attachment

    I use my mac mail 6.2 for business and I cannot seem to figure out how to disable the inline attachments. My attachments such as pdf's show up in the email versus someone clicking and opening them up as an attachment like they would with outlook. It's hard to send bigger files when this occurs.

    Two options to consider.
    Zip the files (control-click, "Compress...") and attach the .zip files.
    Use something like Attachment Tamer

  • Cannot attach files to Mac Mail

    Hello,
    I have a new Mac mini running 10.8.4.  I am transitioning from a Windows PC.  I have setup Mac Mail v 6.5 (1508) against Gmail for both my wife and I on separate Mac user accounts.  Both of us see the same behavior from both of our accounts.  If I try to attach an image through the attachment button, then nothing happens.  Nothing gets attached.  If I drag and drop the image, then double click on it I get the following error:  "The file xyz.jpg could not be opened because it is empty."  Location does not seem to matter.  I have also tried word & excel docs and when opened they are just empty.  PDFs behave like images.  All my files where originally on my Windows PC and migrated to the mac.  Here are some entries in syslog:

    Back up all data. Don't continue unless you're sure you can restore from a backup, even if you're unable to log in.
    This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
    If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
    Enter the following command in the Terminal window in the same way as before (triple-click, copy, and paste):
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_ ; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ ; } 2> /dev/null
    This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
    The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
    Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1 or if it doesn't solve the problem.
    Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
    from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
    In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
    Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
    Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not  going to reset a password.
    Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
    Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
    Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • I have a macbook pro with Lion OS and am using Mac mail.  How do I attach documents as attachments instead of coming up in the body of the email?

    How do I attach a file to mac mail without it going into the body of the email?

    To add to what Kappy said, note that you really can't control how some other mail client might display an attachment.  Some may display them inline, while others may require them to be opened separately.  And different people have different desires in this area...  some want a PDF file, for example, displayed inline, while others prefer for it not to be.  Just attach the file(s) and don't worry about this so much.
    Also, I do have to disagree with Kappy on one point...  I would not say that you "should" compress files and attach the compressed archive file.  That will force all mail clients not to display the attachment inline, but not everyone will want that (you'd be forcing your tastes on all recipients of your e-mail), and some people have difficulty figuring out how to open and view the contents of compressed files.  It's an extra step for you and an extra step for the recipient, and is not needed for most popular file types.  (Of course, we could advise you more specifically if we knew what file types you're dealing with.)

  • TS3276 Hi.  Just started using Mac Mail on a macbookpro v10.6.8.  I tried to send a message with two excel (for mac) files attached.  One attached as a file, one inserted all the text into the message body.  Help?

    Just started using my Mac Mail program instead of web mail.  When I went to attach two pdf files, one attached as a file, the other inserted all the text into the body of the email message.  How do I get it to attach both pdf's as files?

    I think you're confusing two different things. If you attached PDF files and one of them displayed the PDF icon in the message window, that means it was more than one page. If you saw what appeared to be the actual document for the other PDF file, that means it's only one page and it's normal for it to display that way.
    However, I seem to recall there may (or should) be a button at the bottom-right of the message window that allows you to display those files as icons, even if they're one page. If not, there's a third-party addition you can use to add that feature:

  • Mac Mail & MS Word share as attachment

    Hi,
    Just noticed a bug.  If you use the MS Word File -> Share -> E-Mail (As Attachment) it attaches the document to a new Mac mail message but removes any images from your existing e-mail signature.
    Can anyone reproduce this?  I have it on two iMac's so far and it's rather annoying.

    Hello,
    Do you had any feedback on this ?
    I have the same issue, the images in the signature seems to be send as attachment in tiff image file format in the new e-mail.
