Embedded audio shows up using FireFox, but not with Safari?

I have recently published a website using iWeb 09 to a SFTP host.  The site looks like the iweb verison in Firefox and Safari except that on one page, "About My Bagpipes" one audio clip is not visiable and will not playin Safari, but works fine using Firefox as the browser.
In addition,  in accessing the site via Safari, I often have to refresh the Home page to see the navbar and/or images, even after clearing teh cache on my iMac.

Found this :

Went here :

2 javascripts won't load.
One of them is the js file to add the nav

• Want: Adobe Reader with Firefox but not with Safari

I've been using Firefox as my primary browser for awhile, but still use Safari at times. I use Adobe Reader to display PDFs within Firefox, and it is currently also used by Safari.
I'd like to take advantage of Safari's new ability to natively display PDFs within the browser window without using Adobe Reader, but I want to continue to use Reader with Firefox.
Does anybody know of a way to make this happen? It seems to be an all-or-nothing proposition since the same plug-in is used by both browsers.
iBook G4 12"   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   It's white.

well, you might try quitting safari & firefox, then moving the adobe plugin(s) from /hd/library/internet plug-ins/ to /applications/firefox.app/contents/plug-ins/ In finder, press Apple-shift-G & paste the italicised text above into the box - this will take you to the firefox plug-ins folder ( assuming you have firefox in the applications folder )
then restart the browsers & see what happens
Please note - I don't know that this will work, but it's easy to try & easy to revert back to normal - just quit the browsers again & move the plugin(s) back where they came from.
I'll just test it with a different plug-in......

• Why does the FP 10 work with firefox but not with IE8

I down loaded the folowing for xp FP uninstall, FP plugin and FP debug from the link in one of your replys. now I can watch youtube  with firefox but not with IE8. you asked me before if i was using 16 bit. whats that mean and how do I find out? please help I just want to watch youtube on IE!

Ok Shag, since you hadn't been on a Forum before, then I'll take some of what I said back:-) I wanted you to stay on one thread, you can get in trouble trying things that may cause you more problems than you had in the beginning. I just had your best interest at heart
I'll even overlook your all caps here:-) At least you responded
Now since you say you fixed it, what you should do is to confirm it is fixed by taking a look at your Flash folder. This contains all of the Flash files for IE and FF. Then make sure you have the IE add on and the FF add on. That way if you have any future problems, at least you would know it is not the Flash Player.
You should only have 2 .exe files for IE and 1 for FF.
For Video editing, I would check Microsoft and see what they have. Perhaps someone else will come along with other info for you.
No, I don't get paid here, since I am not an employee. Just a user helping others, since I had a problem at one time and after 4 hours of researching solved it.
Let me know if you want to check the Flash files.
Thanks,

I'm using pure HTML5 for mobile websites although you need to provide an OGG file for Firefox. See the movie page on this site...
http://mobile.ezmacwebdesign.com/
If you don't have an iPhone, grab the browser handle and drag it to the left to reduce the width to see how it responds to mobile devices' fixed width browsers .
This will play in all modern browsers and on mobile devices. You can use QuickTime Pro for the OGG or OGV conversion or get the freeware Miro Video Converter...

If you only want to upload an MP4, you can use a flash fallback player and this will cover Firefox and those geriatrics that still use older versions of Internet Explorer....

http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Website-Movie-Video/Fallback-To-Flash.html
http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Website-Movie-Video/JW-Media-Player.html
If you use any of the four fallback players above, take advantage of the fact that you can add a poster image and stop the video file from preloading. This makes for a faster page download time.
You can also achieve this using HTML5 by adding preload="none" and poster="URL to the poster image" into the code shown on this page...

That formatting feature for text areas is known as Rich Text editing. Easy to enable on the web page with one line of code to tap into the Midas package that Mozilla uses, but the users can't enable it themselves from within Firefox.

• Images show up on Firefox but not IE after upgrade from 8.1 to 9.2

Hello,
              <p>
              We are encountering a strange situation: we upgrade our Weblogic 8.1 Application to 9.2. The images on the login page can be properly displayed on Firefox, but not in IE.
              <p>
              In order to make the images show up on IE, we have to modify the image path by adding extra two "//". For example:
              <p>
              We have to change
              <p>
              < img src="/resources/images/logo.gif" .../>
              <p>
              into
              <p>
              < img src="///resources/images/logo.gif" .../>
              <p>
              to make it works in IE, however, in that case, the Firework won't work.
              <p>
              We do notice that the file structure has been changed by the upgrade:

Agnes,
              I think you should distinguish whether it is a behavior difference between
              two browsers or it is an issue of WLS server.
              You can copy suspicious html codes into a dependent html file, then check
              how is is rendered by different browsers.
              If you have further issues, please add commnets here.
              Regards
              Leon

• Weebly Editor on Netfirms will not open using Firefox but does with Explorer

I have been trying to open the Weebly Editor on Net firms using Firefox but it won't open it. Explorer opens it though. I talked to the techs at Net firms and they told me to dump my cache, make sure plugins are up to date etc. Still nothing. They say Firefox works fine on their site. When I click on edit website, it goes to the next page but just stays blank. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
* On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the option key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
* Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshooting extensions and themes article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.

• I now use Firefox, but not sure which product number. Mozilla has been automatically downloading an update. When it is downloaded, the browser does not work. I keep having to restore the computer, and before long you download again. Help.

I'd like to stop the automatic downloads number one.
I'd also like a possible explanation as to why the new version will not work. I know that Microsoft downloaded a bunch of changes (12) that also seemed to screw up my computer. I have switched off their automatic downloads.

To stop Auto updates use: Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Update Tab <br> select the options you require ( see Updating Firefox )
As for why your version does not work I do not know but suggest you look at:
* Safe Mode Note when using safe mode do not make changes on the first dialogue Window you see; click the Continue button
* Basic Troubleshooting
You may also need to review the versions of Java see
* Using the Java plugin with Firefox
* "Why do I need Java 6 Update 10 and above for Firefox 3.6 and later versions? " - http://www.java.com/en/download/faq/firefox_newplugin.xml
Your System details show you as using version 3.6.12 of Firefox, that is not the latest version, it would be normal practice to update to the latest version, which is why you are being offered the updates. See also Software Update Failed

• Output errors show up in Firefox but not IE. Is there a way I can disable this?

Hello again!
I've been having a bit of a problem where a dialog box comes up in Firefox that shows data that appears in my output when testing the movie in flash. The game works fine, despite the errors that Flash doesn't like in my actionscript. These are not compiler errors, but messages that appear in my output. The dialog box only shows up in firefox and I have the choice of pressing "Dismiss" or "Continue". Is there a way to make it so this box doesn't show up?
Here is the link to the game: http://www.djphantasystudios.com/test/ecard.html

Hi,
A Code 10 error is generated in Device Manager in one of the following situations:
Device Manager can't start the device.
One of the drivers that the device needs does not start.
Device Manager has insufficient information to recognize the error that is bubbled up by the device driver.
Note In this situation, the Code 10 error can be a very generic message that indicates some kind of unspecified driver or device problem.
For more information regarding Code 10 errors, please see:
Fix: "This device cannot start" Code 10 error in Device Manager in Windows
Please try to update the device drivers with the error code 10. More troubleshooting steps please refer to the KB article.

• The page at docviewer at my company's website displays this error when using FireFox but not hwne using I.E. "ERROR: JAS MiscUtils AX Control not installed!"

When using Fire Fox to view documents at my company's website, the following message occurs:
"ERROR: JAS MiscUtils AX Control not installed!"
This error does not occur when I use I.E.

That error message probably refers to a missing ActiveX control, which is why it doesn't work in Firefox but does in Internet Explorer.

• I have trouble opening PDF documents with Firefox. They will open using IE8 and with the older version of Firefox but not with the new version of Firefox.

Specifically, I am trying to open brokerage statements with Charles Schwab. I go to the link using Firefox and click and all I get is a blank box with ABOUT: BLANK in the header at the top. Yet, I had no trouble viewing the statements with the older version of Firefox and I also have no problem viewing the document using Internet Explorer. Any help you can offer is appreciated. I would rather continue to use Firefox as my browser and not have to use IE.

• Why can I surf on Firefox, but not on Safari?

Hi,
I'm running an iBook G4 with 10.4.8 on it. My DSL internet connection is through an apartment server, requiring its own manual network configuration to work. That is the easy part...it took a week to figure out the proxies (the local staff and their command of english is Ok but not that good) and I got Firefox up and running. It has been working great for a month.
But one thing is puzzling me, why can't Safari see that I have a functioning DSL internet connection? I am using the same manual configuration for the connection and I have made sure that every program that needs this connection can see it. This problem is, in fact, bigger than just Safari. None of my Apple programs (including Network Diagnostics), Yahoo Messenger or Google Earth can see my working internet connection. I'm perplexed! Any ideas?

• HTML plays swf using CS3 but not with CS4

I apologize if this is a question that gets answered and I just haven't seen it...
I encode an .avi file to .flv using CS3 encoder, publish it to an html page and upload it (along with all neccessary pages and files) and it plays fine. Here is my page.
http://www.dreammakerproductions.com/cs3.html
I do the exact same thing using CS4 and I get nothing when trying to play it via the web. I have all necessary files uploaded.
http://www.dreammakerproductions.com/cs4.html
I try to manuallly insert the .swf into the html page (rather than "publishing" using Flash) and I still get nothing.
http://www.dreammakerproductions.com/cs4_insert_swf.html
I manually insert the .flv file into html page, and it plays, however, it is very jerky and not the look and feel I want, but it does play, which confuses me even more?
http://www.dreammakerproductions.com/cs4_insert_flv.html
All 4 examples play locally on my machine. The only difference is when I play any of the CS4 versions locally, I get the active X security bar, but when I play the CS3 version, I do not get it.
Also, I am using GoDaddy as my hosting, surely the problem isn't on their end with some sort of CS4 issue?
Am I not doing something right when I encode using CS4?
Any help would be appreciated. I am trying not uninstall CS4 and reinstall CS3 but I am losing hope.

The CS4 file is being loaded into the page, it just isn't playing for some reason.  If you link direcly to the swf rather than any html page embedding it you can see this (or not see it to be more correct).  So the problem doesn't involve the embedding.  The file is stuck setting up somewhere along the line when it loads.
Do you have the most recent version of CS4 installed (10.0.2, I believe)?

• Ebay login loop with Firefox, but not with Chrome

When I log in to Ebay using Firefox, everything looks OK. I can buy and sell (so I'm definitely logged in), but when I attempt to go to "My Ebay", It presents the login screen, even though I am already logged in. If I fill in the login details, it simply re-asserts the login screen, and I sit in this loop indefinitely.
I have cleared cache and cookies several times, and have deleted and reinstalled Firefox to no avail. When I contact Ebay support (I have spent 3 hours on thje chat support and 20 minutes on the phone), they tell me to use Chrome or IE. I downloaded Chrome, and I can access Ebay perfectly with it, but I am currently at my daughter's place for Christmas, so I am using her wireless connection, and we both use the same ISP (plus.net), and on her PC, she uses Firefox, and I can access My Ebay by signing in on her laptop.
What's going on? For Ebay access, her Firefox works; mine doesn't. My Chrome works, but Firefox on my PC doesn't.
