Embedded Flash videos don't work

Since updating Firefox to 36, embedded Flash videos don't work. HTML5 and Flash videos on YouTube work fine. I have Click-To-Play enabled (disabling it didn't help too), but instead of a grey area with the message I just see a black area where the video is supposed to be. Does anyone else have this problem?

  • Flash videos don't work with PepperFlash disabled (but with system plugin enabled) on Chrome!

    Hello everyone,
Basically, Google Chrome lags a lot when I use PepperFlash and so I have heard that disabling it and using the system flash will have better performance. I have done this but when I disable PepperFlash, the flash videos don't work as it says flash player has crashed. Also, I would like to resolve the lag and bad performance with flash videos on chrome because the video playback on Internet Explorer is a lot better than Chrome(Never thought I would have to say that) atm. A possible solution might be to install 32-Bit Chrome instead
    Summary:
Flash videos lag(most likely due to PepperFlash being used according to other people)
When PepperFlash is disabled, the system flash plugin does not work in chrome as it apparently crashes every time.
I would like help on how to resolve the bad performance and be able to use the system flash plugin to have no lag on videos and livestreams.
    Thanks,
    Talha

  • Any Flash Videos don't work in Safari 5.1 anymore...

    Hi guys,
I did a fresh install of OS X Lion, and everything was working fine so far.
I even didn't have to install flash or so, the YouTube videos were working fine (CPU hungry as usual, but it was working).
Today, it suddently stoped to work. I tried to uninstall Flash, reinstall it but I can't get any flash videos... from any website.
However, everything works fine on Chrome... so it's weird.
The only thing I could think right now is the fact I did replace some Quicktime codec to add some format... Unfortunately, I didn't save the ones I replaced
It seems to be the only operation I did since the time it was working fine.
    1) Can someone confirm me that quicktime codec could mess up the Flash video playback in Safari and not in Chrome?
    2) Does anyone has the original quicktime codec to download? (from your /System/Library/Quicktime and from /Library/Quicktime folders)
Any help would be very welcomed
    Thanks,
    Phil

With help of someone else and hours and hours of hard fighting, I finally got it to work again by downloading and installing the new Flash 11 beta, available on Adobe Labs website...
I don't know if it did "fix" anything, but at least it works again...

  • Embedded YouTube videos don't work on Safari on the iPhone.

Sometime after June 15, 2013, embedded YouTube videos stopped working on web pages on Safari on the iPhone (iOS6).   They work on Safari on the Mac and they work in the iOS YouTube app.   I see the preview frame and the play button, but when clicking the play button, the frame goes black and nothing ever plays.    This worked up until 6/15 and the pages haven't changed.      Did Apple do something to stop them from working on the iPhone recently?

You may have turned off an option in Flash preferences to not allow sites to store Flash cookies on your machine. Some videos made in Flash and served from third-party (non-YouTube) pages expect to be able to store Flash cookies, so the videos may not work with this Flash option turned off.
Go to [https://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager03.html Flash Global Storage Settings Panel] which is served from Adobe/Macromedia's site and check the "Allow third-party Flash content..." box, and the box for "Store common Flash components..." where you can then manage sites you have already visited. You'll have to reload the video page after you change this setting.
Also, leave site feedback on those sites where you experienced the problems encouraging them to use HTML5 for serving video content instead of the proprietary Flash format.

  • Some flash videos don't work.

I can't see video from cnet, science.discovery, marketwatch etc.
    Youtube, yahoo most others OK.
Everything is updated, shockwave 10.2. I am using Norton 360.
It's the same for Chrome and IE9 though so I'm not blaming FF.

    ok ok
I disabled firewall which - for some weird reason- allow it to play in Firefox. Videos played in IE & Chrome- but not in Firefox, until I disabled Firewall..weird.

    Hello ak_kanan,
    Welcome to the forums.
Try doing the following. In the browser swipe down from the top and choose Settings, now choose Content, here where it says Enable Flash change this to Off.  Now try going to the website that was not working (it will not work again this is fine) Once on the page swipe down from the top again and this time enable the Flash setting. Now reload the page and test to see if you have the same issue.
Let us know how you make out.

Can you open up your Real Player and tell me what version you have? I think Real Player 15.0.6 is supposed to fix this problem. There was a conflict between Real Player and Flash this whole summer that broke Flash videos. Real Player released a update that might help in your case.
If that doesn't help, I think a addon might be to blame here. So do this:
    <br> '''Firefox button <img src=https://support.mozilla.org/media/uploads/images/2012-03-27-09-22-48-1204f1.png> > Help > Troubleshooting Information'''
<br> (or '''Tools > Help > Troubleshooting Information''')
Then click the "Copy all to clipboard" button then paste it here. It will tell us what addons you have installed and I can see which one might be causing problems.

  • Jittery playback in embedded flash videos

Embedded flash videos sometimes, though not always, play with a very jittery or juddery,( it's difficult to explain!), appearance. For example live streams in the ~BBC new website and sometimes in YouTube. in Youtube reducing the picture size seems to help eg from 480p to 360p. This option is not available on the BBC website but unticking the 'enable hardware acceleration' Tickbox in the Flash preferences works. This is the preference panel you get when you right click on a video when it's playing. I am running OS X 10.7.1 and flash player 10.3.183.5. The same thing happens in Safari 5.1, Firefox 6.0 and Chrome 13.0.782.215.
    Any explanation or common experience?

    HI,
Adobe advises repairing permissions when having problems with embedded video. Give it a try.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

  • My embedded Flash video disappears when I relaunch MS Word

I embedded a Flash video with a youtube URL into MS Word 2010 using the "more controls" button on the "developer" tab.  It worked perfect, exactly how I wanted it to, UNTIL . . . I saved and closed the document.  When I reopened the document, the embedded video was still there, but only as an invisible object.  I couldn't see it, let alone play it.
I have replicated this in various editions of MS Word, on several computers, each time varying things like the location of the video (my hard disk instead of a URL), etc.  I also tried saving the document as "macro-enabled."  In every single case, the video works great when initially embedded, but once the file has been closed and then reopened, the video is still there but no longer visible, and therefore useless.
Any ideas how I can make my embedded Flash video remain visible in my Word document, even after closing and reopening the document?
    Thank you!

I suspect the best place for the question is over on the Microsoft Word forums, as you'll most like find a wider audience there that uses Word as HTML generation tool.

  • Flash video has not worked with Firefox browser for years. When will you fix this?

Anyone who uses Firefox browser (for Windows or for Mac) knows that flash video playback ceased working sometime around Firefox ver 13 and has not worked since.
The Mozilla people say it is Adobe's fault - instead of fixing Firefox.
They say roll back to Adobe Flash version 10.
This solves the video problem, but then, any other services that depend on the latest Flash build, quit working properly.
This situation leaves millions of Firefox users in perpetual frustration. We can't use our browser of choice to view any web video built with Flash.
This is so unacceptable. I am unable to understand why Adobe and Firefox don't get together and iron out whatever code incompatibility is causing this.
I would really like to hear Adobe's explanation for this.

Uh... I don't know what planet you posted this from, but Flash video has worked flawlessly with Firefox for hundreds of millions of users here on earth, without any gaps since Firefox was still called Mozilla.
For the record, I have Firefox 28 with Flash Player 13 installed on:
    WIndows XP (SP3-64bit)
    Windows Vista Ultimate (SP2-64bit)
    Windows 7 Ultimate (SP1-64bit)
    Windows 8 Enterprise (64bit-2 machines)
    Windows 8.1 Enterprise (64 bit)
    OS 0.6.8 Server
    OS10.7.5
    OS10.8.5
    OS10.9.2
And I've had Firefox with Flash Player since 2003 on both OS formats. I've never had a compatibility problem.
I also use Chrome, IE, Opera, Safari and a few other browsers you probably never heard of (like SeaMonkey, Maxthon, Waterfox, iCab, OmniWeb)... Flash works in all of them.
I'd have to say the problem is with your system specifically, because if it was a Firefox/Flash compatibility problem, there would have been hundreds of millions of complaints about it, for over a decade. That... just isn't the case.

  • Flash buttons don't work

I created my template in Dreamweaver and 9 other pages from
the template. Now I inserted flash buttons in the original template
and linked them to all other pages. Buttons work in the original
template but not in any of other pages, even though I updated the
pages with all the changes. What am I doing wrong??? I am losing my
    mind here.
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks!

Flash buttons don't work in any real sense of the word,
    anyhow. Why are you
    using them?
If you want to use Flash for navigation, consider this -
    1. Some people don't have Flash installed - what do they do?
    2. Search engines don't parse Flash links - your site will
    not be spidered
    3. Screen assistive devices don't parse Flash links - what
    will those users
    do?
    4. DW cannot maintain links within a Flash movie, so if you
    move or rename
a linked file, your navigation will break - what will you do?
It's usually a very bad idea for these reasons...
This problem is due to the fact that you are placing the
    buttons into a
Template file. In this case, and assuming you want to inherit
    all the
problems, make the links to the buttons ROOT RELATIVE.

  • Why can't I view embedded flash videos on my MacBook Pro?

I can view videos on Youtube and embedded videos on some  sites, but when I try to view embedded Flash videos on sites like CNN.com and NBA.com, I just get a black rectangle and nothing loads. I've tried this on all browsers. BTW, I also cannot open up tinted ads that come up in Google searches. I have the latest version of Flash, and I've deleted browsing data and settings and have checked "Allow sites to save info." I've disabled pop-up window blocker. I have no ad blocking software. I've installed the latest Flip4Mac plugin. I have even set up a new user account and tried these sites with that account to see if the problem goes away (it didn't).
I have a 12 inch 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Macbook Pro with OS 10.8.3 installed (though the problem started when I still had Snow Leopard). I have all the latest browsers and , as I've said above, the latest Flash. I've tried both Java 7 and Java 6. I should also point out that I can access these sites without problem with my office Macbook Pro, which is a 15 inch Core 5, loaded with the same software I have on my problem 12 inch notebook.
    Any suggestions?

You have JavaScript enabled in all the browsers, yes? Have you tried launch the browsers in Safe Mode?

Not aware of a 12-inch Intel MBP. Anyway, could you possibly have an old version of flash player on your computer too. Look in the In the Internet Plug-ins folder to be sure you have only one flash player plugin. Path is HD/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/Flash Player.plugin
Also try searching your hard disk for flash.
Some other things to try are in this thread.

  • N73 Video Don't Work After Upgrade

Help please, i updated my N73 OS from V3.0638.0.0.1 to V3.0704.1.0.1. Now the video don't work anymore, it can't playback what is shot! anybody have suggestions?
Also, N73 seem to be very slow, how can i possibly have it more responsive? Right now, there is an irritating lag whenver you go to the diff functions.
    Help would really be appreciated.

If the lag presists after upgrading to version 3.x.05.x. try going to the camera settings and choosing to save on the PHONE MEMORY and try if it lags, IF NOT than memory card needs to be replaced with a faster one. If its still laggy then i don't know

  • Export to Flash with embedded QT or Flash video - can it work?

Is it possible to have an embedded video (either QT or Flash) in a Keynote '08 presentation and export the presentation as a Flash SWF file? I have tried saving the video in different QT and Flash formats then export to Flash using Keynote, but when I view the exported SWF file, the embedded video doesn't play. I'm unsure if it's not possible to do this or if I'm doing something wrong.
    Thanks.
    Lori

No, this would have required Apple to build a Flash video encoder engine into Keynote's export module. You'd think if it was already a flash movie, it would work, but it doesn't, so assume they just didn't bother building in support for embedding flash movies into a flash export.
