Embedded graphic in an email w/ links

I am wanting to create a 400x600 graphic to be embedded into an email to be sent to several people. The graphic will contain links to our website. Is this possible using any of the programs in the Creative Suite? I've tried creating in Photoshop, adding slices, etc., but I'm having trouble figuring out how it shows up in the email. The email client in our company is Outlook 2003.
What's the easiest and/or best way to accomplish this?

Have a look at the following thread on the Mac side. It addresses a similar request, and a couple of us have expressed why it's not really a good idea. It's possible, and not too difficult if you understand HTML a little, but not really the best way to go.

  • Embedded Graphics do not show in Links Panel?

I'm guessing this is an embedded graphic. I received a packaged file for print, all is fine, but I'm pondering the "image" shown. (I was curious how they formatted the rules and type and started selecting)
After removing everything else from the document, Find Font show no fonts used; the links panel is empty; info for the frame lists nothing; it is not outlined type. One layer; show hidden characters is on.
The file package report lists Links and Images: 1 link (a stock photo used on page 1), 0 missing, 0 embedded.

I've been playing with building my own "Info" panel. It isn't as pretty as the built-in one, but it gives me better "raw" file format information in some cases. It would be interesting to see what it reports as the object type, if you want to send me your doc ...

  • When I forward an HTML email with embedded graphics to someone, it forwards it as plain text.. this is driving me batty.. how do I forward such mails INTACT??

I have the latest Thunderbird installed on a new 64-bit Winblows Eight netbook.. fantastic program, but one problem is driving me absolutely batty, and after using the latest Thunderbird for weeks, I simply can't figure out how to fix it..
I'm on a lot of mfr. and other kinds of mailing lists, like eBay watch list alerts, and so on.. these are not s p a m (although I get plenty of that.. who doesn't).. but lists I WANT to be on..
Many such emails from those mailing lists are in HTML format with embedded graphics.. I'm not talking about graphic file attachments, but embedded graphics which are coming from the senders' servers, and appear AS a graphic in the email.. sometimes such emails are one huge graphic with hardly any text.. all well and good..
However, here's the problem.. when I want to forward such an email to a friend, Thunderbird ALWAYS formats it as plain ASCII text.. I know this because I look in the "sent mail" folder, and can see that it has turned an HTML email with embedded graphics into plain ASCII text..
I absolutely can't figure out how to get it to forward an HTML email with embedded graphics INTACT, so the sender receives it looking the way it looks when I receive it from a mailing list, or an advertiser, or eBay, or whoever..
Is Thunderbird capable of forwarding an HTML email with embedded graphics INTACT?.. If so, how / where do I turn on that capability?..
If the capability to do this isn't built into the program, is there an add-on I can install that will give it that ability?..
I am not new to computers.. but this really has me stumped.. I want to put Thunderbird on my 32-bit Vista laptop and stop using its horrible "Windoze Mail" program, which I've been using for years, and is slower than snot, and has all kinds of other problems..
So, assuming whoever reads this FULLY understands my question, PLEASE tell me how to get Thunderbird to have the ability to forward an HTML email with embedded graphics AS-IS, so the receiver(s) I forward it to see it exactly the way I see it when I receive it.. if that ability is built in, please tell me how to turn it on.. if that ability is not built-in, please tell me what add-on I need to install to give Thunderbird this capability.. if Thunderbird absolutely can't forward an HTML email with embedded graphics at all, please also tell me that..
A virtual box of candy and a dozen long-stemmed roses to anyone who can give me a solution that works..
    Thanks..

Dear Mr. Toad (my all-time favorite ride at Disneyland ;-) ..
Thanks so much for your detailed reply.. my netbook is in the bedroom, turned off.. I (so far) only use it in the evening, in the bedroom.. I've saved your response, and will try your suggestions, and let you know if they solve the problem I described. I really appreciate you taking the time to post such a detailed reply..
I can't answer your Thunderbird "configuration" questions, because I'm in the living room, using the crap Vista laptop, on which I plan to install Thunderbird, and then take Windoze Mail out in the street and drive over it a few times.. I'll get back to you one way or the other, and let you know if your instructions solved the problem, or not..
I don't understand why Thunderbird "out of the box", so to speak, simply doesn't forward HTML emails with embedded graphics, (like Outlook Excess, and Winblows Mail do).. without having to go through those steps. I personally HATE HTML email, but over the years, it's become more and more prevelant.. so it's a problem I must fix..
    Thanks again..
    Harv..

  • Unable to read email with mozilla firefox. The online graphics are missing and the links are unable to be accessed when I try to click on them

Having issues with being able to assess my email on Mozilla Firefox. When I sign in, the graphics are missing. Once I'm logged in, the inbox is not there. Some thing is wrong graphically. There are work links for inbox and contacts, but they are all flushed to the left of the screen. When I attempt to click on them, nothing happens. I have tried to remove Firefox and then reinstall it but the same thing happens. I also attempted to reset firefox to its default state and that did not work either. I check plug ins and most are up to date. However, not clear for window presentation foundation is and if it was necessary to have. The plug in state was unknown. Please advise on what to do? Thanks!

  • How do I change EMBEDDED graphics to LINKED?

I have a number of embedded graphics in my document. It appears that to change them with XML, they need to be LINKED instead. I've looked everywhere, and I can't find a way to do that. The Help says you can convert from one to the other through the Links panel, but I don't see anything.

Thanks, Larry. I don't see anything like that, but I found another way to do it.
Also, for anyone else working with XML--it apparently is not necessary that the images to be replaced are linked. I was able to replace embedded images just fine once I got the syntax right.
    The correct syntax is:
where "tagname" is the name of the tag assigned to the frame in InDesign, and "filespec" is the full path and filename of the image file.

  • What would happen if I were to delete the primary email address linked to my Apple ID?

I wish to completely de-activate my @hotmail email address in order to be left with just my @icloud email address becuase I would find life more managable that way.
I found out that I cannot change my primary @hotmail email address linked to my Apple ID with an @icloud email address as it is an active, separate Apple ID (in itself with a separate purchase / download history etc)...
Also I am aware that separate Apple ID's cannot be merged together...
My question is: "What would happen if I were to delete the primary email address linked to my Apple ID?"
Would I be able to keep and use my purchases, provided they are backed up on my Mac and authorised?
Would I be able to update those transferred purchases even though the email address linked to the apple ID in which the app was bought no longer exists?

You can change the primary e-mail address associated with your Apple ID, so long as it isn't a mac, me or icloud email.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5621
Your Apple ID account, regardless of the primary email, can never be 'deleted', just abandoned.
You could always just switch between the two Apple IDs as needed, to access the different purchases.

  • I cannot email a link to any web page from Firefox 22. How can I fix this?

I am unable to email a link to any webpage from Firefox 22. I have tried everything I can find to fix it. Nothing works.
There is no longer the ability to right click and send an email link. The "Email link" in the "file" drop down on the menu bar doesn't work either. I even tried one add on program for emailing links. That didn't work.
If I didn't lose all of my bookmarks, I would reset to the Firefox defaults. I have had to resort to using Chrome to send any links to webpages.
There has to be some way to fix this. Please help if you can.
    Thanks

  • How to email a "link" from Safari?

Since upgrading to Lion I can't figure out how to send a "link" from a Safari page in Apple's Mail. Example: I am surfing "MacSurfer" and I click on a link to read it. I then decide to email the link to my daughter. I used to be able to open Mail and drag the URL into the body of the email. Now, in Lion, the URL of the link just says "Go To This Address". I can't seem to have both apps (Safari and Mail) open at the same time on my desktop. And what's up with the  "Go To This Address" thing in the URL so often?
I have both Mail and Safari each set up as "Full Screen" so they will be permanently stuck on a desktop in Mission Control. Could this have something to do with it?
I'm also running into another issue in Safari. If I click on a link and a new page opens many times there are no "traffic lights" (red, yellow, green in upper left of page) and the "Back" arrow is greyed out. Also, the contextual menu does not offer to go back. The only way to close the page is to quit, which causes me to close Safari all together.
    What am I missing?
And while I'm on my ***** fest here…I'm not thrilled with this new discussion board either. It wasn't broke, so why "fix" it? (Maybe I'm just getting old and don't adapt to change so well.) OK, I feel better now!

    Can someone help?
In Safari File: Mail:Link o This Page has stopped working on my macbook pro running Lion-- all of a sudden I am seeing this error message when I want mail a website link to someone:
An email message can’t be created to send the link because Safari can’t find an email application.
This message does not show when I click on a hyperlink within the body of a webpage viewed in Safari.
This does not happen in Firefox. The File: Mail Link works just fine. Maybe I should stop using Safari but I like it!!!
I checked all of the system preferences suggested in various support documents. Did I miss something?

  • How do I email a link to a file on my server?

I know on windows machines you can email a link to different files on your computer that other people have access to like c:/caleb/documents/... but I am not sure how to do that with a mac
We use a server at work and my boss always tells me to open different files that are hard to navigate to. I am wondering if there is a way for him to just email me a link to the file so I can just click on the text in my email and it will open up the finder window with the file in it.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Caleb

If users are on the local windows machine then "C:/path/..." will work, but if they're accessing it through the network then "\\servername\sharename\path\file" is how it's linked.
In the mac it's the same way. If "windows" file sharing is enabled then the slash-slash method will work if the users are on a windows PC. Otherwise, it will require the use of specific protocol prefixes in the address. For connecting via AFP (apple filing protocol -- the default and mac-native networking system) the following is the address to use:
         afp://servername/sharename/path/file
Emailing this address to users who can get network access to the computer will allow them to click the link and connect. For example, my machine is called "Laptop" (ip address is 192.168.1.3) and I have a file called "textfile.txt" located in a "testfolder" in my "Public" directory (which is the shared directory that is readable by users other than myself). To send a link to that file I'd send the following:
         afp://Laptop/Public/testfolder/textfile.txt
Alternately I can link to it using the IP address as follows:
         afp://192.168.1.3/Public/testfolder/textfile.txt
To connect to the same computer via windows networking (from a PC or Mac that has windows networking enabled), ensure you have windows networking turn on in your computer and the only difference in the address would be to use "smb" instead of "afp" in the addresses above. This is for NON-windows computers; since windows machines will not know what to do with "smb://servername...", and instead will require the "\\servername\..." notation.

  • Color of embedded graphic different in Adobe Reader 9?

    Hello,
I have a cross-platform and cross-version issue that I am hoping that this is the right place to get get some insight on. I normally do most of my work on a Mac (OS X 10.5.4 PPC), and created a document in Microsoft Word 2008 (w/latest patches) that has one embedded graphic, a custom black horizontal line that I designed myself as a PNG with some alpha transparency. When I print the document to PDF, either using the built-in renderer or the Acrobat 8 PDF printer installed on the machine, I am able to open the resulting PDF in either Preview or Acrobat 8.1.2 on the same computer and it looks as expected.
However, if I take it over to my PC running Vista SP1 (w/latest patches) and open up the PDF in Acrobat Reader 9.0, the color of the embedded graphic is different, a kind of orange-y brown which looks really horrible; it is as if the normally grayscale embedded image has been tinted. The text of the document remains black, it is only the embedded image that has had its color changed. If I open the Word document on the PC in Word 2007 (again, w/latest patches), however, the embedded graphic looks grayscale, as expected.
I have tried a few things such as specifying the image format as grayscale within Word 2008 before printing to PDF, converting the PNG into GIF with Photoshop CS3 on the Mac (which shows it as grayscale) and re-embedding it and printing to PDF/X instead of PDF, but none of these seem to make any difference.
Unfortunately I don't have access to Acrobat Pro 9.0 for the Mac or Acrobat Reader 8.1.2 for the PC so I cannot tell if it's the switch between platforms or between versions that lies behind the issue, but does anybody have any ideas on how to make it look the same across platforms?
    Thanks,
    A

There's not really anything you can do with just Reader. The creator of the form set it up to behave this way, by intention or not. It could have been set up so that a user is unable to enter more text than can be displayed in the area defined for the field, and that the font size would automatically decrease as the limit is reached, down to a minimum size of 4. If you know who created the form, you may be able to request a new version.
