Embedded Quicktime not playing correctly in InDesign PDF - please help!!
ok - I have an issue that I can't work out and I'm hoping someone can help - tried searching for an answer to no avail. I've just built my first interactive PDF portfolio in InDesign. I should point out that I'm a producer/editor, so my knowledge of InDesign & Acrobat is not extensive. The PDF includes some embedded Quicktime movies. The movies play normally on one of my monitors (Samsung 1680x1050), but will not play correctly on my other two monitors (2x Samsung 1280x1024) - the audio plays and the play controller appears to be working but the video area is just all white...HOWEVER...if I open the PDF and play just one of the videos on my 1680x1050 monitor first, then all videos play correctly on all monitors. Have tried opening the PDF on another desktop and the movies do not work (in the same manner as above)- also tried on my laptop and the movies play correctly. Please help if you can - I need to get this out to clients and I'm baffled!! Thank You!
Is it as easy as wmode: transparent after shoving the swf into a table??? does the transparent option make everything outside the table dissappear? thanks...

Embedded movies not playing correctly in recorded playback
60 slides, about a dozen with short movie or animation clips saved as .mov or .m4v files.
Everything plays correctly in a regular presentation. When I try to do a recording within Keynote using my own timing, all appears to be well, however, when I play back the recorded movie, the animation clips have stalled and stuttered during the recording process.
I've tried reducing the file sizes, etc.

Quicktime not playing Apple ProRes (Proxy) 1080p video - help!
Hey guys I have a Apple ProRes (Proxy) 1080p video sent to me via Firevilla from a friend in the states - which simply says - "will not play - quicktime does not understand the format and may need additional software." All my software updates have been made. Does anyone know if I actually need a specific ad on??!! Or what is going on here!!??
Many ThanksBecause you're using QT 6.5.2 you can't view all QuickTime content. Quite a lot of pages are now using H.264 video and it can't be viewed using 6.5.2.
Try one of my pages to test your browser plug-in and QT version:
http://homepage.mac.com/kkirkster/California/index.html
The file is about 3MB's. If it plays correctly your browser and QT version are OK.
The plug-in settings can be found in the QT Control Panel (under MIME settings). You can also check your browser preferences for "helpers". -

Hey,
just got iTunes match, set it up to the best of my knowledge.
-Bought it
-Matched and uploaded all of my music
-the 'iTunes match' tab isn't under 'Store' anymore
-music icons show up on iPhone 4 and New iPad
The thing is, when I select a song the song opens, album art and all stays on 0:00 then closes again as if it has finished playing.
I tried deleting a song in itunes then download it from iCloud but an error occurs. I deleted completely then added it to the library to see if i could get it to work.. Not working.
Music from iCloud will not play on any of my Apple things including iTunes.. Can someone from Apple or a smart person from the community please help me out.
If someone works at the Apple store in 'Chermside, Brisbane Australia' and wants to meet me to see if they can help that way I can do that too..
Thank you!Same here...

I have an Apple Configurator install that wont recognize an iPad when I attach it via USB. I cant prepare it or refresh it. It was supervised. I get an error message that says "policy does not have correct profile data". At some point there was a mismatch between the profile on the iPad and the MAC server. The profile on the MAC server has been deleted and the iPad has been erased and reset to default. I need to be able to get Configurator to recognize this device to prepare it for deployment and issue Apps to it. Please help!!
Run the application 'Terminal.app' which you will find in '/Applications/Utilities' on your Macintosh.
Type this into it: defaults delete com.apple.configurator PreprationSavedPolicyDefaultsKey
Hit the return key.
If you get no error message, it worked, and you can quit the app. -

Quicktime not playing correctly in html popup
Hi, I have been crazy trying to fix this problem and I didn't find the solution.
I have just updated my system to Firefox 3.5.3 anq QuickTime 7.6.4
My site loads popups with quicktime .mov files inside. The problem is the funcionality of the quicktime files inside them. The streaming is working bad and when it starts playing ALWAYS GET STUCKED AT STARTUP (in all quicktime files, in all popups), even if the streaming is complete you hit play and it stucks.
I tryied to delete all scritps in the popup, to erase all the swf files, and even to put the single mov file inside alone and it's the same. I also tried to re-export the files from several quicktime versions, all the same.
If I try the direct link to the quicktime or to the .html it works well, but not in the popups.
Here is the url where you can test it:
http://www.hippiehouse.tv/motion.html (hit in any of the view quicktime buttons or the view reel)
http://www.hippiehouse.tv/motion/reel/showreelpopup.html
You can check the code of this html, if you have something to say or to give me some js or code advice to solve this issue I will be really greatfully
ThanksYour page code doesn't give instructions to any browser plug-in and uses the out of date "embed" tag:
embed src="hippiehouseshowreel09.mov" width="460" height="360" hspace="2" align="left"></embed
The same code is used at all of your other popup windows and Internet Explorer doesn't know what to do (so it does nothing).

Namaste InDesign gurus,
I have a problem at hand. Wondering if anyone has encoutered similar problem before? Any help is greatly appreciated. And if you're in San Francisco bay area - I can buy you a lunch :-)
Short description: Devanagari font in layed out in Indesign (using IndicPlus) does not export correctly to a PDF. All the ligatures are assembled and displayed in the PDF.
Adobe Indesign Version: InDesign CS5 Design Premium - regular U.S. version (not ME).
Steps I took:
I purchased CS5 Design Premium and also purchased the IndicPlus plugin to author sanskrit documents in InDesign. I create Sanskrit text using either of the following methods.
1) Itranslator
2) Paste the devanagari from the Itranslator directly into InDesign or paste it first into MSWord and then copy from MSWord and paste it to Indesign.
It doesn't matter how I paste it. After I apply the IndicPlus character/paragraph style so that the sanskrit looks good in InDesign, when I try to export it to a PDF. The PDF does not display the ligatures currectly. It just lists all the characters in order without assembling.
I've spent a lot of money buying CS5, IndicPlus and then I can't even create a simple PDF document from InDesign. It is very frustrating.
Has anyone been able to successfully export a sanscrit document from InDesign PDF ?
(Please let me know if my problem description needs more fleshing out).
I could create the PDF from MSWord directly but I'm trying to use indesign to layout my book. If InDesign cannot export to PDF I'll just have to use MSWord for my book layout. I've spend probably scores of hours trying to learn InDeisn and formatting my book content - seems like it is all going to be waste.
Is MSWord the best choice or only choice for laying out books that have sanskrit text in them?
-RaviHas anyone been able to successfully export a sanscrit document from InDesign PDF ?
Not Sanskrit, no, but plenty of Hindi, Nepali, Marathi, and other languages written in Devanagari script - so it should be possible. I don't even use IndicPlus, which by most accounts makes working with Indic text much easier.
1) Itranslator
I've never seen this, but a quick Google led me to the homepage of ITranslator for Windows, where I saw this:
Itranslator 99 (Build 1.3.0.86) & New Beta Version
uses 8-bit true type fonts and is compatible
with Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP.
For more information, click here.
Itranslator 2003 (Build 2.0.0.38) & New Beta Version
uses 16-bit Unicode-compatible fonts and is working
only on Windows 2000 / XP / Server 2003.
For more information, click here.
So, if you're using ITranslator 99, there's the problem - those "8-bit true type fonts" won't work in InDesign. Can you post a sample of the text you're trying to paste into InDesign? Name the font(s) you are using, both in Word and in Indesign, and if possible make a small sample of the text available for us to test. It's also possible that InDesign is using a substituted font, which could cause this problem. So, if the font name in InDesign has brackets around it, you know that InDesign doesn't actually have that font installed and is auto-substituting. Also, if you go to View -> Screen Mode -> Normal and the text is highlighted pink, you know that the font has dropped. (Unless the highlighting for dropped fonts was turned off - check in Edit -> Preferences -> Composition and make sure that "Substituted Fonts" is checked.
Also, for what it's worth, is there any way you could Place your text instead of copying and pasting? This may be cause of your problem - but even though it probably isn't, it's still worth a try.
Lastly - no, I've found InDesign to be superior for typesetting for almost all languages, but the learning curve is pretty steep, and many of the problems faced by people working in non-English languages are not easy to research when you have a problem. -
Video portion of Nightwish DVD not playing correctly on Quicktime. It is not a smooth playback. A little jerky. Is there an easy slution to the problem?
I worded my question incorrectly. It isn't a DVD I'm having the problem with, it' s a Nightwish concert download form iTunes I am having the video portion of the video that plays not smoothy. Like it is moothing it short little segments, not a steady flow!

Why does Quicktime not play this mp4 correctly
I can create an mp4 file (recording) from Belkin's @TV app but that file will not play correctly in Quicktime (or RealPlayer or iMovie, etc.). While the video playback seems fine, the audio plays a couple of seconds, at "chipmonk" speed, and then there is no sound out. However, if I move the playhead to any random place in the recording I can then hear another couple of seconds of audio, as before ("chipmonk" speed), and then silence. The VLC player will, however, play the file correctly.
So, seeing that the file itself was not bad, I decided to try Handbrake to re-encode the recording. And, to my surprise, Handbrake was able to handle the file correctly and produce an mp4 file that Quicktime (and the others) can play.
I don't know enough about these mp4 files to grasp what is wrong with the original Belkin output. The Quicktime inspector reports that the Format is
H.264, 352 x 240
AAC, 32000 Hz, Stereo (L R)
FPS: 25.37
Any ideas? (Is there additional data I can look at about this file?)
I'm running the current version of Mavericks and Quicktime 10.3.Jon Walker wrote:

Another user in the Belkin forum suggested that I look at the recording's header info, and pointed me to AtomicParsley, which I have now run (using some basic terminal commands).
This is what it reports for the initial, Belkin-app produced file:

I have the equivalent for the recording's Handbrake output. I did a file compare but there were enough differences (and I'm not a technical person) so I could not spot which of the differences mattered. For example, I thought that the fact that there is "none listed" for the sound handler looked like an obvious clue until I saw that same thing in the Handbrake output.
Here is the Handbrake data:

Placed .swf does not play correctly
I have placed a .swf on a page. When exported to pdf the movie does not play correctly. It plays correctly before being placed. I used flash cs4 actionscript 3 to create the .swf.
I have selected the highest level for pdf when exporting.ok! I figured it out. This is what is happening. Apparently when you place a .swf in indesign and make a button on the page to show the movie when clicked and then export to pdf -- there is a time delay from the time you click on the button and the movie starts to play in a floating window. Its just a few frames of 24 fps movie but that is enought for whatever gaget that reads the movie to miss the first few frames.
So in effect any info in the first few frames is not read. So i had a stop on the first frame that was not being read. I put the stop on frame 7 and now it plays just like I had hoped.
I hope this helps anybody else out that has had a similar problem. -
Online video clips do not play correctly on all browsers
I am unable to play video clips at the right speed without them stalling and stuttering. For example, a typical YouTube clip will not play correctly, so the video will stutter and the sound won't play in time with the video.
This is especially frustrating when wanting to play music video clips as the song will stutter. This happens regardless of browser - Firefox, Safari or Netscape.
I have a broadband Internet connection but wonder whether I need to adjust speed settings somewhere so sound and music play correctly.
I have no problems playing songs via iTunes or watching video clips using Quicktime, it's just the embedded video clips on YouTube etc that won't play correctly.
Any advice much appreciated.
Thanks,
RobFlash video is very CPU intensive, open activity monitor and look at your CPU usage while trying to watch a YouTube video, no doubt it is at 100%.
Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about this - my 400 Mhz G3 can't handle flash video and by the look of some previous posts on the forum I'd be surprised if any can . -
I've had my video iPod for a couple of weeks and generally, I love it. But I noticed that just today (this was NOT an issue before), the videos do not play correctly -- and it's not file-specific. Here's what happens:
The first few rows of pixels lag behind the rest of the video. it's always the same rows. It's especially noticeable while watching Lost with its faster sequences. Has anyone experienced this?Eric333 wrote:

I have activated iTunes match and iCloud, now when I go to my Music app and choose me 'best' playlist, I see a button at the bottom of the list that says download all. If I choose this option every song in that playlist begins downloading (near 1,000), this is taking up memory on my phone instead of using the cloud. If i DO NOT download all of the songs they do not play correctly (skipping certain songs, not playing all the way through, etc.) What's this all about and what can I do about it? Why are my songs not just playing through iCloud? I thought that was the point.....
To be honest, you shouldn't need a great 3G service for it to be able to keep up with a song, but if it's a very weak signal then it could be the problem.
Unless you have unlimited 3G then I would recommend using wi-fi anyway, as you could easily run into monthly limits otherwise.
Do you think that it works better with wi-fi than 3G, or just the same? If it is the same then I would have to question whether this is actually your problem.
As to whether you should download songs beforehand, I would say that as a temporary measure it probably makes sense if it's possible as it will download them anyway and that way you get to listen to the music properly. However it does mean that you have to start downloading before you start listening which may be annoying.
I'd be interested to hear whether the performance is better with wi-fi than 3g though. It could be that I'm barking up the wrong tree.
