Embedded slideshow shrinks in IE 7

Hello,
I’ve embeded a flash element in my website.
It’s a self running (looped) imageviewer
On initial load in IE 7 the page is shown correct.
After switching to another page on the webiste (e.g contact) and then returning to the page with the imageviewer agian the flash element is smaller; it is as if IE 7 resizes it.
(U can check out the attachment for a visual)
This issue does not appear in Firefox and safari. Two questions
1) Is this issue known
2) can someone help me with a work-around
Looking forward for your replies

Sorry, I don't open attached files.   We'd need to see the live page.  Please post a link to your page so we can see the phenomenon you describe and the underlying code.
Thanks,
Nancy O.

  • Looping embedded slideshow

    Hey All,
Is there any way I can create a looping, embedded slideshow in an iWeb page? Nothing too fancy. I just want some slowly scrolling images in the corner of a web page.
    Tanks!

Would the slideshow in this demo page, although large there, do what you want? It's done by adding the photos to OVI.com and using their code to add to an HTML Snippet on the page. You can change the width and height dimensions to fit your need.
Normally if one were to click on any of the items on the page they would be taken to the OVI.com site. However, I put a transparent object over each item so that the viewer does not get redirected if they click on any of those item.
If you know javascript you can create your own slideshow and embed it similarly.

  • Embedded slideshows

I'm quite new to web design (<3 months) and am trying to create an embedded slideshow in my site.  I can create the link which opens up my slideshow in a new page.  I want to be able to click the link and then have the slideshow appear on top of my current page (i.e. a hidden layer becomes visible with the click of a link).  I really have no idea how to do this.
Another issue i've been having is this: I embedded the slideshow directly into my page, but none of the pictures, background, formatting, etc. show up.  The little windows that hold my pictures show up...and I get music playing!  What could be causing this?  If I do not embed the slideshow and simply link my page to the slideshow the show plays perfectly.  As far as I can tell there is no reason to believe that my files are not in the correct directories.
    thanks

    <p align="center" id="Layer1" style="position:absolute; width:309px; height:54px; z-index:2; left: 178px; top: 211px;">
                    Click <A target="_blank" onClick="MM_showHideLayers('Menu3','','show'); return true;"><i>here</i> </A>to view the slideshow. <br>
       </p><br>
                    <!-- MENU3 LAYER Pictures START -->
    <div id="Menu3" style="position:absolute; width:711px; height:407px; z-index:5; visibility: hidden; left: 749px; top: 122px; font-size: 12px;">
    <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="1">
        <tr><td>
         <p align="center"> <embed src="../Images/Motorcycle/motorcycleshow1.swf" width="709" height="403"  autostart="true" class="menu"></embed></p>
        </td></tr>
    </table>
    </div>
                        <!-- MENU3 LAYER Pictures END -->
    Change this -
    Click <A target="_blank" onClick="MM_showHideLayers('Menu3','','show'); return true;"><i>here</i> </A>
    to this -
    Click <a href="javascript:MM_showHideLayers('Menu3','','show'); return true;"><i>here</i> </a>
    or this -
    Click <a href="javascript:;" onclick="MM_showHideLayers('Menu3','','show'); return true;"><i>here</i> </a>
Either should work - the advantage of the latter one is that it will allow the show/hide behavior to appear in the Behaviors panel.

  • Why does Muse slideshow shrink my header?

I put the Muse slideshow into my custom site template and for some reason it shrunk my header that contains my logo.  I went in and took out any conflicting body styles, but it didn't help.  Slideshow seems to work OK, but not a good look with the header smaller than header on other pages of the site.

This is what I'm getting with the Muse slideshow in my template (header is compressed), but it should look like this:
I must have margin collapse somewhere?

  • Adding a Flash-Type Slideshow in iWeb

I want to add a slideshow to my home page, but not the kind of slideshow that has a bar of thumbnails and an enlarged version of the selected image. I'd like a frame that automatically plays a slideshow of images that play for a few seconds with a simple transition. Is this something I can create in iMovie and then import or even in iPhoto? I know you can't use Flash itself, which is fine since I don't know the program, although I'd learn it for this purpose if it was possible to use it.
All thoughts are appreciated. If interested, the site is www.jrcphoto.net
    Thanks
    Jim

Jim ~ You can create a QuickTime movie slideshow in iPhoto. Here's an example of a fast loading, looping embedded slideshow (not mine):
    http://www.heese-cadieux.com
    ...and done like this:
iPhoto > select photos > File > Export... > QuickTime tab ...set width and height, etc.
Then iWeb > Media button > Movies tab ...drag in your movie created above by iPhoto.
Then iWeb > Inspector > QuickTime tab ...settings.
Note: The above generates a QT slideshow of small file size and thus appears quickly in a web browser.

  • Creating Hgh Resolution photo slideshow to upload to youtube

Hi, I've created a slideshow in iPhoto with 55 photos and a song to go with it. The highest export resolution there is is 640*480 and it comes out very blurry (especially when you try to enlarge it to full screen).
When i decided to try iDVD i realized it only exports to a dvd format and not to any kind of media that i can upload to you tube.
I don't think iMovie has a better option either.
All I'm looking for is to create a high resolution slideshow from my photos to share on youtube.
Does anyone have any suggestions....? I will be very grateful.

The following approach of creating a QT movie slideshow will give you the option of specifying a higher resolution in its width and height settings.
But the transitions are limited to a simple "fade in and fade out" — no Ken Burns effect, etc.

  • Slideshow or....

I search for info on this subject and a lot of it was years old so I'm hoping there is a new solution.
I'm setting up a photography website. On my portfolio page I want people to see the work I've done. It could be in the manner of a slideshow, a moving band of pix, or hover over a thumbnail of one of my pix and have it open to a larger one. I want them to see my work in a larger size.
I publish to mobileme right now but I could use GoDaddy if it's easier to make this happen there. Any ideas?

Susan ~ One solution of several is to use a Flickr slideshow. You can either create a text or image hyperlink to the slideshow or embed it into your iWeb page via the HTML Snippet window. There's even a way to link to an external site (such as a Flickr slideshow) from iWeb's navigation bar. Also see this article:
    _Flickr's slideshows get cinematic, viral_
...Notice that the sample embedded slideshow there, once playing, shows a full-screen button at lower right. And clicking it doesn't take you out from the current window/tab — it simply goes into full-screen mode (and hitting the Escape key exits that mode).
By the way, Flickr's maximum pixel size is 1024. You can submit larger, but they'll be compressed and resized by Flickr. See this FAQ.

  • Safari won't play embedded slide show in my website, when it has previously

Safari won't play an embedded slideshow in my website.
It has been working for several months. It still works with firefox, but as i am a preferred mac and safari user, it bothers me for other safari users who may visit my site.
    website is www.paulwarrendesign.net
    click on BIO
Click on the Prey link on the lefthand side. It opens, and when you use the play slide manually, you can see that the pics are there. For some reason the slideshow will not play.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Paul
as you may know - your website simply links to this page at theage.com.au
that page doesn't do much except load a Flash-based slideshow here
the slideshow is created by some software called "Soundslides" and there is a known bug ( now fixed it seems, but would require theage.com.au to put new versions of soundslider.swf on their system....or make some other changes to the way their servers deal with audio.
I guess you could innocently tell theage.com.au that their page fails on Safari ( also Opera and Realplayer for me ) & hope they fix it.... maybe even point 'em to the fix? .
ahem, err failing that, your only option 'd be to get your web guy to make the slideshow on your own website's server; although copyright over the images/sound might be an issue?. If you go that route, the basic soundslider software is pretty cheap ( US $40 ) from http://soundslides.com/ and instructions here
I should add that once you've got images/sound that you are entitled to use.... there are any number of free methods to make a similar slideshow.

  • IWeb Slideshows

1 year ago I bought a new imac and iWeb. I've made about 10 sites.
The slideshows look great on my iMac. They are anout 630px wide with a nice reflection.
BUT!! on my PC, they suck. I tried to show someone my art work on the their PC, I was shocked. The images appear no bigger than matchboxes surrounded by a huge amount of black. I have a newish PC and it's just the same.
Does anyone else out there have the same problem?
I uploaded my pics to Flickr, dropped the code... success ... until I discovered
you can only have three set without going pro .... so no good for me.
Slide.com .... no end out unrelated advertising ... useless for my website
Myspace, well, their slideshows now autostart, not way of stopping them, no controls .... and they have annoying rounded corners which are getting very fashionable which I don't like ...
    Anyone any advice?

    Dear kim plygeaw,
Alancito posted "Re: iWeb Slideshows" in "iWeb Slideshows" on Nov 28, 2008 1:39:02 AM.
Kim ~ The slideshows on your Flickr account are so much bigger and better than the slideshows on your iWeb site. So why not either hyperlink to your Flickr slideshows or embed your Flickr slideshows in your iWeb site? You are already familiar with Flickr slideshows, but for other forum readers who perhaps are not, here are some details...
Before clicking on the hyperlinked thumbnail below, note that mouse-over of the slideshow page will display many options — including a full-screen button at lower right. The viewer can pause the slideshow (button at lower left) and then click on the thumbnails in any order...
Click to open slideshow in new window
It's also possible to embed the slideshow into your web page via iWeb's HTML Snippet window — see this article: Flickr's slideshows get cinematic, viral. Notice that the sample embedded slideshow there, once playing, also shows the full-screen button at lower right.
I have just spent a good while getting nowhere logging in here, finally got into my account, phew!:
Tks for the message and have posted Alancito's message above that didn't show up.
I started out with high hopes at Flickr, I could post their fabulous networking slideshows onto my iWeb page, add related videos too from YouTube which play many times faster than my better quality but internet sticky Quicktime vids, and so on, music from playlist.com sound effects and so on making the slideshows have a contextual setting on each webpage.
BUT, the crunch came at Flickr when I discovered you can only make 3 album sets on the free account, therefore only 3 separate slideshows, DAM! The only way round it is to go Pro for unlimited. As I have currently 2 iWeb hostings, I'm not in the mood to keep adding more expense.
Sooooo, the solution for me: I went over to Gmail 'Pica. Their slideshows are good, I customize the code so say at 800px wide I go down 800px instead of 566px for the vertical pics get as much TLC as the horizontal . You can change the code to make them any size like YouTube videos and with an autostart option which myspace doesn't have. There's no advertising at the end like Photobucket and Slide.com and a nice piece of software that's for mac so you can drag and drop pics to upload update the shows.
They also behave well on old PC's!
    http://picasa.google.com/
I started out making my sites with iWeb to add a professional edge to my free networking sites, I didn't even link to them. I feel a little foolish now as that's were the people are, and so now I'm mixing them all together. There needs for people to leave a networking site to go to a private website, and vise versa, and I'm still working on that. I've very surprisingly had 45,000 hits on a rather modest YouTube this past 6 months, a small account with 90 short videos, how to get that traffic over to my website is my next project! So the slideshows and websites better mean something more than they get on free networking sites and not be an anti-climax

  • Slideshows and bluescreen

I seem to be getting the run around on the phone, trying to find out if a) my iChat can use embedded slideshows and the bluescreen feature and b) if not, is there a way to upgrade. I keep on being told to call tech support, when to me it is clearly a sales question! I saw the video that advertised these features, and it may have been for the leopard operating system. But again, all this was unclear, and no clue as to how to upgrade if possible.

    At present there is Showmacster
By Default this shows one of a number of icons of a Black Smiley format instead of the Video feed.
It can be set up to show part of the Desktop which you can drag and show differnt things.
It can show Movies and have some stored to quickly show.
It also does Sound and pic plus slide shows and it has a White Board feature for drawing or drwiwng over a background/pic you select.
It is unclear if it will work with Leopard when it comes out.

  • Photo Pop-Up Window Help

I have a kinda particular question about the way my photos are shown on my site. I am creating a site as an online art gallery and I want each picture to pop-up in it's own window. I have seen tdizzle's question and will try that, but my needs go a little further. Once the new window is open with a larger view of the picture, I want users to be able to click other thumbnails below so they may see other views of the art. The effect I am going for is something like what is here: http://yessy.com/art/paintings/?view=751320, but in a pop-up window without all of the sidebars, etc.
Please help, this is super important to me and I greatly appreciate any suggestions.

Despite the following suggestion being a "slideshow", it appears to fulfill some of your criteria and also provides a few extra features. • Need some help for photo transitions

How can i make a banner using photo transitions like this: www.sportrecife.com.br ?!
Can i make it using iweb?!

Welcome to the discussions. I could be wrong, but it looks like that is being done via Javascript. One way to achieve a similar effect is to create a QT movie slideshow. Here's an example of a fast loading, looping embedded slideshow (not mine):
    http://www.heese-cadieux.com
    ...and done like this:

  • Can I add a slide show to my iWeb created site using MobileMe

    Hi there,
What I want to do is to create a folder with a load of pictures of me in them and then add them to the Home Page of my website, so that when people visit my website all the pictures play as an automatic slideshow at the top of the page and automatically scroll through all the pictures in that set.
I have created my website in iWeb 09 and it is published on MobileMe, I really hope that someone can help me because I really want this to work. At the minuet I can add MobileMe photo albums but I cant get them to play as an automatic slideshow and just scroll through all the pictures (without having to open any separate windows or anything)
    Huge thanks for you help

Jason ~ The following two suggestions don't involve MobileMe...
Here's an example of a fast loading, looping embedded slideshow (not mine):
    http://www.heese-cadieux.com
    ...and done like this:
iPhoto > select photos > File > Export... > QuickTime tab ...set width and height, etc.

An alternative approach (that doesn't require QT to be installed on the viewer's computer) is to set up a slideshow at weebly.com — open a free account there and then embed your Weebly slideshow page in your iWeb page:
Embedding a Site Within an iWeb Page
To see a Weebly looping slideshow, see the third example here:
