Embedded VIdeo Play Issue in Firefox

Hi peeps.
My OS is Win7 Home Basic 64-bit. I can't play any embedded video in Firefox, but I can in Chrome and IE. The video screen just goes black with circle loading stopped in motion. The tab isn't frozen or not responsive, simply the video wouldn't load. The only solution I have is uninstall both Firefox and Adobe Flash Player and reinstall both. After that I can play embedded video (like in Youtube, DailyMotion, etc). Even if I close and reopen Firefox, I can still play them.
But whenever I restarted my laptop, I'm back to square one. Unless I reinstall both Firefox and Adobe Flash Player, I can't play any embedded video again in Firefox. I have tried disabling protected mode in Firefox (when I could play the video in Firefox, I have unchecked the Hardware Acceleration-whatever). Already tried Firefox Safe Mode (Shift+Click on Firefox) but same problem. I have tried installing Firefox v24, 27, 28. Adobe Flash Player is the latest version 12.0.0.77.
I don't have any conflicting extensions or plugins. The other plugins I have installed are Adobe Acrobat 11.0.6.70, Google Update 1.3.22.5, Yahoo Application State Plugin 1.0.0.7 (I can say for sure Yahoo plugin isn't the root of this problem since I have experienced this problem way before I have YM installed). The other extensions I have are Greasemonkey 1.15 (same with Yahoo plugin, I have experienced this problem before I added Greasemonkey to Firefox) and IDM C.C. 7.3.68.
My guess is the problem is related with IDM. Iirc, before I have IDM installed, I could play embedded video in Firefox. But it's strange, since my netbook (this Firefox problem is in my laptop with win7 Home Basic) with XP SP3 can play embedded video in Firefox with IDM installed. Actually, I never had any problem regarding playing embedded video in my netbook.

Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?
Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if this helps.
You can use the MSConfig program or the Autoruns utility to see which software and services are getting started (be cautious with disabling services).

If you have software like Advanced SystemCare that might reset some files to older versions to protect these files against changes then check the settings or uninstall this software.

  • Flash videos playing weirdly in firefox - malformed

I have had this problem for a long time, running through all versions of Firefox 3 (including the latest 3.5 preview releases).
I am updated to the latest version of Flash, and am running Windows XP (also fully up to date).
All flash videos play fine in IE8.
On some sites, while videos are playing, the picture flicks quickly between a normal picture and the effect shown in the screenshot - the usual image tiny, with weird blurred lines around it. This continues through the whole video, flicking very rapidly, and making the video effectively unwatchable. The effect remains even when the video is paused. I've attached screenshots below which should make the nature of the distortion clear.
I have experienced the problem most on Youtube (as I use this more than other video sites). The only other site I have noted the problem on is facebook video. Metacafe, Google Videos, Dailymotion, Vimeo and BBC iPlayer did not exhibit any distortion.
On Youtube, it is sometimes possible to play videos properly by switching to high quality, but usually it does the same thing, but flicking to a much larger picture, so it only seems to be blurry around the very edges.
I should also mention that embedded YouTube videos play fine on other pages.
My computer is pretty old - with an AMD Athlon Processor 996 MHz and 752 MB of RAM - but definitely has the capacity to play these videos, as it manages on Internet Explorer.
I created a thread on the firefox support forums before I came here - not much progress was made, but I should mention a few details of the only other reported case of this problem.
"Matt" seems to be experiencing the same problem on Firefox, also with a pretty old computer, but on Windows 2000, not XP. He reports the same problem on Opera also on his computer; I haven't tested this on my system.
Personally, I am at a complete loss with this problem - I have no idea how it can be caused, or fixed, and it's a major obstacle to casual web browsing. (I have to load Internet Explorer just to watch a youtube video!)
I really hope someone is able to shed some light on this issue; please ask if you would like any more details on my system.
    Thanks.
    (Ben)

    Hello all,
Yes to follow up Ben, I'm experiencing the exact same problems as him. I changed browser to Firefox 3.0.11 a couple of months ago and hence downloaded the Flash plugin for Firefox. I noticed the issue straight away in Youtube, but not on other sites. As I attributed the problem to Firefox, I then downloaded Opera 9.64 - but experienced the same problem. This led me to believe the issue was the Flash plugin, as both browsers are served by the same Adobe plugin for 'alternative browsers' to IE.
I then tried IE6 again in youtube and it didn't have the problem on standard view, however the problem was (and still is) occurring in full screen view. I'm nearly 100% sure this problem didn't occur before I downloaded the Flash plugin for Firefox / Opera. Regardless of whether that is the issue, the problem was definitely not happening on my system in IE6 earlier this year.
As Ben said, my computer is fairly old but well managed and up to date. OS is Windows 2000 SP4, system is AMD Athlon 900 (slot A), 512 Mb RAM, 16Mb Voodoo 3 graphics, m/board MSI MS-6191.
I've also tried removing the Flash plugin for Firefox/Opera and for IE6 and reinstalling it but had no joy there either. I would try an updated version of IE too but IE6 is the last version compatible with Win 2k.
    Any help appreciated, thanks.

  • Embedded Video Plays on PCs but Not Macs

As the King of Siam declared, "It's a puzzlement."
I'm updating a site and have embedded a .mov from the client's YouTube channel using YouTube's preferred <iframe> code. Here is the URL: http://www.realcosmetics.com/ourStory.html.
The video will play in all of the browsers on my Win7 PC (latest Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Opera, and IE which also emulates IE7 & IE8). It will also play on the PCs of friends I've asked to test. It will not play from the page on any Macs where we've tested. [FYI, the .mov file was edited on a Mac and plays there.]
It will play on the Macs, however, from the YouTube channel. And the guy who is building the Facebook page embedded the same video on a tab using the old YouTube <object><embed> code. The test Macs have no problem playing the video from the FB page.
So, I tried switching to the old <object><embed>. Still doesn't play on the Macs, so I restored the iframe code.
What is totally confusing is that I recently embedded videos from YouTube into another site using YouTube's <iframe> code, and the client can play those on the Macs. Both pages use the same DOCTYPE (XHTML 1.0 Transitional) and code copied from YouTube. The page validates (after I removed the allowfullscreen switch which W3C said wasn't valid under the DOCTYPE).
I've searched online through forums and discussion threads for solutions, and while I found several that seemed to work for one person but not another (having to do with changing Mac preferences, etc.), none of those solutions worked on the test Macs.
Any ideas from you wonderful gurus? The answer may be staring me in the face but can't see it for having stared at it for so long. The only difference between this application and the previous one that I can think of is that the host servers are not the same company.
    Thanks for pondering this!
    Chris

    Adninjastrator,
My advice was on the back of testing in Firebug - it was there I saw the .text div overlapping the Video. The video will become 'active' if I remove the float from #rcsVideo, however there are other floats and positioning that aren't helping anything.
To clarify, I can't get the play button to change when I hover over it (and I can't click it to play it) until I disable the float on #rcsVideo. Bizarre but that's what happens - in both FF and Chrome. No idea why this works in Windows machines without disabling the float. As you can see in the images attached, .text highlights the entire video area. Then, by disabling float:left on #rcsVideo, the text area is not covering the video.
The video itself is direct from youtube and has a flash fallback as well as many other kinds of fallback for all machines. As such, this displays in my iPad.

  • Why won't YouTube embedded video play from PowerPoint?

I have followed the normal process to embed video in PowerPoint 2010 (32 bit), and playback worked without issues a couple of months ago.  Now it does not.  I have completed all of the troubleshooting tips, and reinstalled latest FlashPlayer 32-bit, etc.  When I go to play the embedded video in PPT, the following message appears:
"To play the selected item, you must install a later version of the Adobe Flash Player. To download the Adobe Flash Player, go to the Adobe website."
There does not appear to be any settings changed in browser (IE / Chrome), Windows Media Player, or PowerPoint.
    Need a solution.

I went back to the embedded video code from YouTube, captured it and pasted it into the "insert video from Web site" and then deleted both "version=3" instances in the code:
    <object width="420" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/od8cUvPyvsg?hl=en_US&version=3&amp;rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/od8cUvPyvsg?hl=en_US&version=3&amp;rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>
That seemed to do the trick!
Many thanks for that help.  Not sure what caused prior embedded videos to no longer play - that still is baffling, because I hadn't done anything with the code until today.
    Gracias!

  • Embedded video plays and then shows frame one at end.

    Hi,
    I have an embedded video that is approx 500 frames. It plays through but at the end, when it stops, it shows frame 1. At the end of the video I have placed stop();
Any ideas on how to get it to stay at the last frame at the end?
    Thanks for any help.

If you are playing the video in the timeline, shorten the number of frames that the video occupies until the video stops at the end. If yo are using the FLVPlayback component, set the autoRewind property to false.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro Video Play Issue

This is probably not an advanced question, but I'm having a lot of trouble finding an answer.  I'm trying to use Adobe Premiere, and I'm importing my video.  In the first screen, the top left video play area that I import my raw video into, I find that I'm getting a very choppy play.  The choppy play is making it difficult for me to time my cuts.  The screen image will freeze while the audio continues to play.
When this happened initially, I assumed it was my hardware.  I was running what I considered to be a decent machine, but I figured I needed a better one.  So, I went and bought a better one.  Now I'm running a machine with a Quadro 3100 graphics card.  It's an I7, quad core, about 2.8 ghz if I recall correctly.  (It's supposed to be able to over clock or boost or something, but I don't know much about that stuff.)
Anyway.  Is there some sort of setting I should be using?  Any advice would be really, sincerely appreciated.

    John T. Smith,
My apologies for not having provided more information.
What version of Premiere Pro? Include the minor version number (e.g., Premiere Pro CS5.5 with the 5.5.2 update).
I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro 5.5, and I believe I just updated it to the 5.5.2.
Have you installed the recent updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.)
I ran the update this morning, which is why I believe I'm using the 5.5.2.
What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac".
Windows 7, and I believe it is Professional.
What kind(s) of source footage? When telling about your source footage, tell us about the codecs, not just the container types. For example, "H.264 in a .mov container", not just "QuickTime".
These are Quicktime .mov files.  I'm afraid I don't have a lot of other information.  They are files that were transferred to my computer, but I wasn't around when they were initially done.
If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)?
    No error message.
What were you doing when the problem occurred?
    The problem is consistent.
    Has this ever worked before?
I've never seen it play smoothly.
What other software are you running?
Just typical Microsoft Office programs, and Chrome, and maybe Explorer.  But I rarely run anything else while I'm attempting to work in Premiere.
Do you have any third-party effects or codecs installed?
    To my knowledge, no.
Tell us about your computer hardware. Be especially certain to tell us about third-party I/O hardware (e.g., AJA, Matrox, Blackmagic, MOTU).
    I'm using the MSI WT Series WT60 2OK 3K-615US 15.6-Inch Laptop (Black)
Are you using Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration?
I do not know how to use this.
Does the problem only happen with your final output, with previews, or both?
It only happens to the raw footage and timeline footage.  The output is fine, assuming I can find the correct place to make the cuts.

  • Any video played in my firefox will always blink. My operating system is Mac OSx 10.6.8 running on intel core duo. 32 bit machine

Everytime I view videos on firefox, it keeps on blinking. The issue is not reproducible on Safari. My MacBook runs on intel core duo 32 bit with 1gb RAM

    Hello,
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
#Open Firefox ''Options'' window (''Preferences'' on Mac or Linux) as follows:
#* In Firefox 29.0 and above, click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and select ''Options'' for Windows or ''Preferences'' on Mac or Linux.
#* In Firefox 28.0 and previous versions, click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
#In the Firefox Options (or Preferences) window, click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select ''General''.
#In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
#Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
    * [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
    * [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

  • Video playing issue - Green Band on top of the screen

I am getting this type of green band repeatedly on YouTube video's in IE 9 on Windows 7 64 bit if Nvidia is engaged. Not with the Intel graphics. I have removed Flash but it won't play or display therefore it using Flash 64bit is installed. I was not able to repeat the problem with Chrome. But lately I can't seem to get Chrome to call on the Nvidia GPU even though its selected in Nvidia Control panel. I ran the 32bit IE 9 or 64bit but the Flash will only install the 64bit version even though I tried to manually install it. (Adobe says that both are built into the same download and only applies the one). Chrome runs the video without Flash installed. Weird there!
I've spent a lot of time already and need to get other work done. Anyone see this problem?
Is there a Nvidia GPU/memory diagnostic utility? I am wondering if its GPU fault. I did not see this before and I know my MB was replaced from before. I am not getting this on MSN.CA video's.

  • Video play issue

    Hello.
When watching avi and mkv when I select to play another part of the movie the sound does not come back. I only get the video with no sound.
The files are large from 700 MB to 4500 MB.
Sometimes the sound comes several seconds (sometimes aprox. 10).
Some files I get points of the movie that the video pauses itself. I have to fast forward a few seconds to get the movie to continue playing.
    I have a Nokia E7 with Belle.
¿Are this issues normal to Belle or are caused by a bad update from Anna?
    Greetings from Paraguay.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi claudio_b_p,
    Thanks for you post.
I don't think issue is caused by firmware of the device but rather how the file has been encoded, the profile level the file is using and the codec itself as this issue happens to me also using several different devices including non Nokia handsets and even dedicated media players and even on my P.C as well. Sometimes if you leave it say 10 to 20 seconds the sounds eventually catches up.
I've never really worked out what the issue is as it doesn't happen with all MKV files but some but I suspect it has something do to with hardware, software decoding and the way the MKV file itself has been encoded. The MKV file is just a container (For more reading about MKV please refer to this link http://www.matroska.org/index.html) which holds the video stream. The majority of video streams in an MKV is H.264. These are then encoded according to certain encoding level profiles. Profiles define the sets of bit stream features the h.264 stream can use. Levels define restrictions on the video resolution, frame rate and VBV (Video Buffer Verifier) etc. In short, Level 5.1 uses four to five times the bandwidth of Level 4.1 and hence allows very high definition video, 4096×2304 at 25 or similar. So you could have an MKV but the profile level could be so high that the hardware just doesn't support it even though it supports MKV. Most spec sheets of devices do state what profile level MKV's support. For a non dedicated media player such as a mobile device it is not recommended to go above 4.1.
For more reading into the H.264 codec please refer to this link:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H.264/MPEG-4_AVC
I personally don't believe it has anything to do with Anna or Belle but hardware limitations and the way the MKV file has been encoded. Best thing to do is to check the MKV file that you are using. To find out the profile level of a file you will need to use a media tool as you can't simply check it by looking into the property of the file. A good tool to check media file information is Mediainfo which is a free application.
Try a variety of video files such as mp4, avi, xvids etc and see if you experience the same issues.
    Hope this helps.

  • Youtube and Facebook video play issues

I purchased a new PC about 4 months ago a
    Dell XPS8100 Studio.
    Its an I7
    Windows 7
    IE 8.0.7600.16385
    Flash player 10.1.85.3
Recently it updated the Flash and I'm pretty sure it was from that point on I have had issues playing videos on Facebook and Youtube.
If they don't start straight away you can hit refresh a few times and it will start to play but only run for about a min before it stops and the loading image occurs. Of course if I hit refresh again, it just takes me back to the start of the video.
The other alternative is that it will play about 4 seconds and then the downloading image appears and it does not play anymore. It does not seem to be a case of waiting to complete as I have waited and waited.
There is nothing wrong with my internet connection which is fast enough for smooth Video messenger conferencing.
I have not changed any of my antivirus (McAfee) or firewall settings.
I have sucessfully unistalled the Flash Player with the download tool and re-installed.
    I'm using the 32bit IE8
This is driving my absolutely NUTS!!!
Please can you advise of a fix or which earlier version of Flash is likely to restore what used to work...
    Rob

I have right clicked on the video and disabled hardware acceleration, I have also adjusted quality to low and there is no improvement.
Basically when you look at the playbar, the buffered video never moves during playback so it stops when the initial content of the buffer is exhausted.
This used to work with no issue until about a month ago.
Which Adobe files do I need to roll back?
    Robert

  • Embedded videos from Youtube in firefox are black with sound. In Safari, they view just fine. What is the problem?

I created a Google site at the office and put two videos from youtube in the site. I did this using an earlier version of Firefox and they worked just fine.
Tonight I am using Firefox 9.01 and the two videos are black (no video) but have audio.

  • Video Play Issues, Thumbnails/Album Art Only Comes On

So in a fit of frustration, my bf has given up on trying to fix his iPod.
Problem? When he goes to play a video, it doesn't play. Instead the screen will look like it's playing a song, and a clip of the video is the album art or thumbnail. There's no movement, it's just a clip. We're done the resetting thing, adjusted the TV Out, TV Signal and Widescreen options back and forth. We're not trying to connect to a tv just trying to watch a video on the iPod. It was working fine two days ago but not so much today.
    Any help?

Here try this and see if it solves the problem: go into your iPod, choose video's or movie's ( on the main screen) , then go to video settings and make sure "TV Out" is set to "off"... now your iPod should play video.
