Embedding a Captivate 7 SWF into a Captivate 7 project causing error "R6025".

Good day,
I am wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue and how it was resolved (if at all).
Recently, one of our clients contacted us to request we resend a source file (originally built with Captivate 6) due to perceived file corruption. Upon investigating, the file will open correctly on the PC used to develop the slide initially (using Captivate 6), but will crash and cause an error when Captivate 7 attempts to open the file (tested on multiple systems).
The problem file(s) are a parent single slide Captivate project which contains a single slide quiz (which is published out as a SWF and embedded in the parent).
To resolve the issue we figured that recreating both slides in Captivate 7 would be easiest solution. After recreating both from scratch, the same issue occurs. The project can be opened without issue on the development PC with Captivate 7, yet crashes when any other PC with Captivate 7 attempts to open the source file.
Here is a screen cap of the error message which pops-up during the Captivate 7 crash.
Anyone have any ideas how to resolve this issue?
Cheers and thanks,
Patrick

Hi Lilybiri,
Yes, this slide has an CP-Published SWF in the CP-file. This procedure was used on multiple projects without issue. It only appears to have become an issue when Captivate 7 is introduced.
With respect to not having all of the slides in a single project; this has to do with the design of our client's product and the requirement to have every slide be its own project file. We have discussed the merits of not using this approach, but they expressed a reluctance to change the approach (there are internal aspects of their organization at play which we are not privy to).
I am guessing the best bet will be to re-design the approach on this particular problem slide then?
Cheers,
Patrick

  • Can't embed a Captivate video (swf) into Power Point 2007

    I am trying to embed an Adobe Captivate video (swf) into power Point 2007. I very carefully followed all the steps outlined from a search I did on the web and it is not working.
    These are the steps I followed:
    1. Create a simulation using Adobe Captivate and publish it as a SWF file.
    2. Open the PowerPoint presentation and insert a blank slide for adding simulation.
    3. We need to work with the Developer tab now. If you can't see it in the ribbon, follow these steps to make it visible.
    (steps to get developer)
    4.On the developer tab, in the Controls group, click More Controls
    5. In the list of controls, click Shockwave Flash Object and click OK.
    6. Drag diagonally to create a box in which the simulation would appear. Don't worry about sizing it accurately; you can adjust it later as well.
    7. Right click the Shockwave Flash Object, and then click Properties.
    8. On the Alphbetic tab, click the Movie property. In the value columnm type the full drive path, including the file name.
    9. Set the Playing property to true, Loop to false and Embed Movie to true.
    10. Close the Properties dialog and test the movie.
    The simulation will now play in your PowerPoint presentation.
    Note: If during the slideshow,t he simulation doesn't play automatically, right-click and select Play.
    I followed these steps, and it is just not working. I go to play my power point presentation and set it to play from the beginning, and when it gets to the slide with the swf file, I just get a faded out still picture of the video, and it will not play.  If someone has had luck with embedding swf files from Captivate into Power Point, please let me know how you did it.   Thanks.

    Thanks, I really appreciate the information. The only problem is that I have to keep it as a power point presentation.   I convert from ppt to a video, so I need to keep it as power point.
    I found these steps on the internet and followed them exactly, and went through the steps 3 times, to make sure I wasn't leaving anything out, and it just didn't work. I have a tech guy who's supposed to call me today regarding this issue, and hopefully he'll be able to go through it with me step by step to try and work it out.
    Ultimately, these are going to be training videos that are going to be set up on a website, so they ultimately have to be saved as videos.
    I'm keep trying to figure it out though.
    Thanks.

  • Want to get Captivate 2 .swf into ebook

    I am trying to move a course from CD to ebook. All I have are the autorun CD files, including the .swf file; the .cp file cannot be found and the person who created it is longer with the company. The .swf contains screen snaps and voice over, as well as some cursor animation. My problem is that the .swf file starts playing as soon as the student goes to the ebook page that contains the .swf file.
    To the best of my knowledge I can't use the player skin that comes with Captivate without the .cp file, so my proposed solution is to import the .swf into Adobe Flash CS3 Professional, add controls and code that has the movie stopped when opened, and save it as a more user-friendly .swf for the ebook. I am a technical writer, not a programmer, and even though I have spent many hours searching the internet and even reading a book or two about Flash programming, I cannot get a working .swf file. I'm wondering if anyone can point me to example code that will do what I need. I found out about rdcmnd functions and the advantage of the MovieClipLoader class over the loadMovie method, but I seem to be unable to put it all together in a working .swf.
    I agree with Captiv8r that a decompiler for Captivate .swf files would be good.

    Thanks Captiv8r.
    I tried that with no change in behaviour as a result. The video still begins playing as soon as the page it is on opens. This is now my html with the added line:

  • Does anyone know how to insert an Articulate Engage interaction into a Captivate 2 project?

    I would like to insert an Articulate Engage interaction into
    a Captivate 2 project. And,er, that's it really. Does anyone know
    how to do it? When I try to insert the Articulate project as an
    animation, it functions fine in the preview screen, but once it's
    been inserted all I get is the loading screen.

    Hi again darren.winter
    If I were in your shoes, here is what I'd try. Place the
    content from Articulate in a specific folder. Then publish your
    Captivate to the same folder to ensure all files are there
    together. Then test. Obviously, this may work or it may fail. And
    just as obviously, if it works, you're done!
    If it fails, I think I'd try publishing my Captivate using
    different settings. Try publishing for different Flash versions.
    You might find that if you target Flash 6 it fails, but 7 or 8 may
    work.
    If the Flash version bit fails, are there some settings in
    Articulate that allow you to reduce the number of files that are
    required? For example, I know that when Captivate 2 came out, many
    folks had to scramble (and some still do) over the fact that it
    produced multiple output files. Some LMS' didn't like the fact
    there were typically two .SWF files to distribute. We then learned
    we could eliminate one of the .SWF files by turning off the
    borders. So I'm wondering if perhaps Articulate may have similar
    output options you could use.
    Hopefully something here helps... Rick

  • How to add a Captivate 5 Project into RH for Word?

    I have to add a captivate simulation project into my Help project, and was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible. I searched Captivate's help, and they say you can with RH HTML, but I am currently using:
    1. RH for Word Build 8.0.0.203
    2. Captivate 5.0.0.596
    The Help project is a Single Source Layout with WinHelp 2000 primary layout. Any ideas?

    Hi Rick,
    I did test the url from my browser's address bar, and it worked fine. I cannot get this to work from the help project.

  • Embedding Swf into to forum signature

    Hi, i have been trying to find this everywhere but no good.
    How can i embed swf into forum Posts and signatures ? Its my site s
    o i change settings etc.....is there some mod that should be
    installed on the forum ? Any help at all would be really
    appreciated =)
    J

    No. I mean that the Flex framework makes certain assumptions about the environment it is running in -- like having a stage to work with. The Alert function, for example, works by creating a sprite and adding it to the Flash display list. Since your embedded SWF is not on a stage, there's no way for it to work.
    You can can possibly use certain non-visual parts of the framework, such as the rpc package, but I can't guarantee it.

  • Embedding swf into HTML+JS AIR app

    Hi
    I'm trying to embed swf into HTML+JS AIR app with no luck.
    First, I created flash library with this class in default package.
    package
         import mx.controls.Alert;
         public class Utilities
              public function Utilities()
                             //asdfasdf
                   Alert.show("asdasd","");
    Then I compiled the project with Flash Builder and got library.swc as result. Then I extracted swf file.
    After this is added required code into my html:
    <html>
    <head>
        <script type="text/javascript" src="AIRAliases.js"></script>
        <script type="text/javascript" src="AIRIntrospector.js"></script>
        <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery-1.6.2.js"></script>
        <script src="library.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></script>
        <script type="text/javascript">
            $(document).ready(function () {
                alert('loaded');
                air.Introspector.logError("aaa");
                var v = new runtime.Utilities();
        </script>
    </head>
    <body>
    </body>
    </html>
    Then after I run application, I get error that result of expression is not constructor, function etc.
    Could you help me please?  Thanks in advance.

  • Buttons not working on published SWF Captivate 2 project

    I have published a daisychained Captivate 2 project in three
    pieces, all published as SWF. The first piece plays fine, but a
    user has to push a button to choose to either go to the second
    piece OR the third piece. The button was designed so that when
    pressed, it would open another CP project. The buttons in the
    published pieces make the clicking sound, but otherwise do nothing.
    When I published this as an EXE project with three pieces, the
    buttons did what they were supposed to do. I'd prefer to use SWF
    published output instead of EXEs. Any ideas as to what might be
    happening to prohibit the buttons from performing?
    Thanks,
    Andrew

    Welcome to our community
    If you are emailing the Captivate published file, likely the end user is running it from a temporary folder from their C drive. And that causes a security issue with Flash.
    If you insist on using the eMail method of distribution, you need to also instruct the user to save the attached files to a specific location, launch the HTML file. Then ensure they configure their Flash player security settings to acknowledge the location where they saved the files as being safe.

  • Uploading Linked Captivate 2 Projects into Sum Total LMS

    I've been trying to upload a series of media-rich linked
    projects to our Sum Total LMS. Although there are several projects,
    they are linked to play seamlessly to the end user. The problem is
    when each project is published, it creates its own zip file. In
    order to upload the files to the LMS they must be in one zip file
    or they will upload as separate, independent learning modules. I've
    encountered numerous challenges in attempting the upload.
    Does anyone have any experience/suggestions about:
    - Publishing each project into the same zip file
    - Uploading linked Captivate 2 projects to an LMS, especially
    the Sum Total LMS
    - Uploading a project with flash videos to an LMS
    I greatly appreciate any feedback you can provide.
    Thanks!

    I always link between Captivate files to ensure that my files
    are not too big. I have done this many times; however, I have not
    tried it when there is a quiz involved. What I do is link them
    inside Captivate, publish the files (non-zipped, which you can do
    if there isn't a quiz involved) and then zip them up together with
    Winzip. When you load it into the LMS, you need to choose either
    "Knowledge Document" or "General Document" and there, you can
    choose the launch file (whatever file you want to load
    first.)

  • Having trouble importing .xml comments into Captivate 7 project.

    I'm trying to import comments made in the Captivate Reviewer program.  I exported the comments to my desktop and now when I try to import them into the the project, I get this error.
    Does anyone have any advice?  Thanks.

    Hard luck there! I guess you opened the Captivate source file after you sent for review and saved it again (with or without modification).
    When you send a Captivate review project (CREV) file for review, it uses some kind of identifier that maps the incoming XML files with the source file. If you open/ edit the source file and save it after sending it for review, a new identifier is created, which results in this kind of mismatch. Hence this issue.
    AFAIK, there is no way to import the files. You have to open the XML separately and address the comments manually.

  • Hi, I'm tring to place a PNG into a Captivate 8 Project. I made the image on AI but when I place it in Captivate it gets blurred. Is there any way to solve this issue?

    Hi, I'm tring to place an image (PNG) in to a Captivate 8 project. As soon as the PNG is placed, it gets blurred. Same thing happens when I try to resize it. In Publishing Settings, Project Size and Quality are set to high. Any idea of why I'm getting this?

    PNG is bitmap, even though it is created in AI. This mean, please do not resize it but create it in AI in the size you want as vector image before saving to PNG. Another approach (my work flow) is to get it into Photoshop as a Smart object, and use the roundtripping with Photoshop that is possible in Captivate.

  • Need to import .swf into Flash 8 project

    I'm working on a project that requires me to use an already
    made .swf file in it. I'm creating the whole project (which is a
    presentation) strictly in Flash 8. This project requires a user to
    be able to navigate through various menus and categories to see
    what's in them. Most of the categories have a slide-show of images
    that are accompanied by a voice over sound track that explains to
    them what they're watching; however, for other categories I already
    have a previously created .swf file that I need to import into
    Flash 8. The issue that I've noticed when I just import the .swf
    file into Flash is that the file plays at about 100x the original
    speed. I think that it is because Flash looks at this file as one
    frame and tried to play everything all at once. I also looked into
    the possibility of trying to the loadMovie() function, but that is
    not that convenient for me because this requires me to decompile
    the .swf file into .fla and edit it so that a user has a way of
    coming back to the main menu of the presentation from that movie,
    unless there is a function parameter of loadMovie() similar to
    HTML's "_blank" where a new window opens so that the user can close
    this window without having to worry about restarting the
    presentation. I hope that what I'm doing is clear, and I'm very
    much open to any suggestions about what I should do about it or any
    other ways of doing what I'm trying to achieve, which is to be able
    to play already-made .swf files in my Flash project. To give more
    details on these .swf files, they were originally created in Adobe
    Captivate and exported into .swf. They play perfectly when you play
    them, but it's just that there is an issue when I try to play them
    from my Flash project. Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hi Braulio
    a good tutorial site can be found at
    http://www.kirupa.com
    and also, look in your Flash Docs, for loadClip() and
    loavMovie() methods. They should get you started on some ideas to
    import external content.

  • Captivate 5 Won't Open Captivate 3 Projects

    I'm using the trial version of Captivate 5 and am trying to open some Captivate 3 projects.  The message tells me to ensure that the file isn't already open or damaged and that I have sufficient disk space and resourses.  I had previously opened the same file on Version 4 without a problem on the same computer, it isn't read-only and there are no resource issues (I'm able to open the version 4 files without a problem).  I need to open the version 3 files and using Captivate 4 isn't an option.
    Any ideas?  Thanks

    Danny,
    There is no direct upgrade route from Cp3 to Cp5.  You have to first upgrade the Cp3 file to Cp4 and then go to Cp5.  Two steps.
    Your trial version Cp4 would have had no problem opening Cp3 files and saving them as Cp4.  But a Cp5 trial will only open either Cp4 (to upgrade) or Cp5 files.
    ActionScript is the Flash programming language. Cp3 and Cp4 would accept files with ActionScript 2 code.  Cp4 would accept both AS2 and AS3.  But Cp5 will only accept AS3.  It doesn't support AS2 at all.
    So if your Cp3 projects contained any Flash animations that were published to AS2 SWF format, you would find that they would not work as expected if you upgraded your projects all the way to Cp5.  You would need to have the source FLA files for those components and either recode them into AS3 or republish as AS3 for Flash player 9 and 10 before reinserting into your project.
    If you're only talking about a few files requiring conversion to Cp5, I'm happy to do them for you. I have Cp3, Cp4, and Cp5.  Just contact me via the contact form on my website: www.infosemantics.com.au so that we can take this offline via normal email channels.  If your files are smaller than 5 meg each (zipped) you'll be able to email them to me.  If they're too large for email, you'll need to post them up to a web server for me to download, or else use a file upload service such as http://www.sendthisfile.com/

  • Inserting A SWF into a Captive Project

    Hi All,
    I'm trying to insert a swf into my captivate project. It goes
    onto the slide with no problem but when I preview the project the
    swf is not animated. I'm using AS3 to code the animation so there
    is only one frame. I set the frame rate in Captivate to match the
    frame rate of the swf with no success. Any help is appreciated,
    thanks.

    Hi there
    I suppose that's possible. I'm not a Flash Coder yet but
    would imagine the sky is the limit once you get things into Flash,
    as at that point it's a Flash project, no? I don't believe an
    avenue exists to take a Flash project and pop it into Captivate.
    (By that, I mean to export from Flash as a .CP file - I am well
    aware that one may create a .SWF from Flash and pop it into
    Captivate as an Animation)
    Cheers... Rick

  • Captivate 8 - Runtime Error R6025 - Pure Virtual Function Call

    My teammates and I have Captivate 8 installed recently and while working on a big project for a client, some of our files got corrupted. We couldn't open them and we'd get a Runtime Error R6025 - Pure Virtual Function Call. Some members of the team could still open those CP8 files but eventually, everyone got the error and we couldn't open the files anymore, even if they were backed up several times.
    Anyone have the same problem? We are suddenly having regrets purchasing all those Captivate 8 licenses. Captivate 6 never gave us this problem and it really had to happen with a big project for a client.

    Just responded to this in another thread (note we used Captivate 7 so it might be a different error).
    We found that when we created files with embedded swf files that existed ABOVE widgets in the timeline, when someone else tried to open our file it broke/we got the runtime error. The original person could still open it for a time, but eventually the cache would clear and they couldn't.
    However, if we ensured swf files are BELOW widgets in the source files, it didn't break. In fact, if we found one that was breaking and got the author to move the swf file on the timeline, it would start working for others.
    STRANGE! Let me know if this works for you to!
