Embedding a FLV file

Info:
Apple Mac
OS 10.5.1
Dreamweaver 8
Hi there,
I am attempting to embed a FLV file into a HTML document (an
editable region based on a template) however when embedding the
video the following message comes up: Making this change would
require changing code that is locked by a template or a translator.
The change will be discarded.
I don't understand why the message comes up as where I am
trying to insert the FLV is in an editable region. Also I have also
tried to use the tutorial
Presenting
Video with the Flash Video Component in Dreamweaver 8 and get
the same message. Now I would like to think when doing a tutorial,
especially an Adobe one - nothing should go wrong, so I'm stuck to
think why this message would show up on a help file as well.
Any ideas anyone? Obviously I need this to work as this is
the only way to embed a Flash video file in Dreamweaver.
Many thanks in advance.

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.

Are you using the DW Flash Video function or trying to embed
by hand? =
Does your template have an editable region named "head"? If
you're using =
Insert Flash Video, that's where some JavaScript code is
trying to go =
and may be triggering the error you're seeing.

  • ISkySoft logo embeds in .flv files

    I have tried four different times to convert a .mov to .flv for use in Flash Professional using Adobe Media Encoder.  Every frame has a big fat iSkySoft logo embedded in the upper right hand corner.  I have Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Premium, and would like to embed some movies in my website.  Why is this thing stuck in my Flash file?  Searched for skysoft everywhere, apparently it is a free download.  Another note stated that the Encoder that is included is not the full version.  Any suggestions?

    AME uses the codec on your system installed by other apps.
    Try remoning the offending software.

  • Multiple .flv files out of syc after first video

    On a PC with W7, office 2010 and CP6.
    When embedding multiple .flv files in CP6, and running the published html5 presentation off my local drive, only first .flv file is in sync after publishing in html5. The 2nd .flv video is out of sync.
    I’m running CP6 on a PC with several information slides and one slide with an embedded .flv file. Then a few more information slides and a second slide with another embedded .flv file. Preview mode looks fine on both videos. The original mp4 videos that I imported into CP6 which it converted to .flv files works fine as well.
    When I publish the file in html5 only, and launch the file off a local drive the first video runs fine but the second one is out of sync. Repeated publishing doesn’t help. I’ve inserted other videos and the same problem occurs on the second video. Also the control bars that I put below the .flv video don’t show up in hmtl5 published format.
    Why is the second video out of sync. My goal is to have 4-5 short .flv embedded videos in the presentation with information slides preceding each video.
    When I go to the published folder:
    and click individually on the videos the first one runs fine, the second one is out of sync – same as when I launch the index.htm file off my local drive.
    When I copy the files to my Mac, and run off the local drive I have the same problem.
    Need some help here.

    Could be the encoding. Never heard of that software.
    You could possibly convert the files in iTunes by right clicking and choosing conversion for AppleTv option but that takes time and will only work for things iTunes can play natively. There may be better options but MPEGStreamclip is a versatile free video converter as I believe is the latest version of the Handbrake utility.

  • Problems embedding an FLV into the timeline

    Hello,
    I'm interested in embedding a video into my swf file automatically. Therefore, I managed embedding an flv file onto the stage, but the problem is that after I give the embedded video an instance name and refer to the instance in a command (f.e change x,y coordinates or change width/height), on execution of the swf, the video stays frozen while the audio plays. If I don't refer to the embedded video instance, the video plays normally, just not placed correctly on the stage.
    Is there any way to place the video correctly???
    Thanks,
    Ori

    The problem here is that I want to automate the creation of the SWF. Therefore, I am using some sort of simulation program which takes control of GUI objects. The only problem I had was controlling the width, height, x and y controls that appear as simple text (not as regular text boxes),
    Anyhow, that's why I tried giving the embedded video an <instance name> and editing it through actionscript code of the FLA file. But that gave me the phenomena that I explained where the embedded video is placed & sized correctly, but it appears frozen with audio running normally in the resulting SWF.
    I hoped that there's a way to handle this problem (casting to a different object, using a certain function etc.), or that someone is familiar with this phenomena.
    Thanks and still waiting for any suggestions,
    Ori
    P.S - If you want to see the phenomena, take an FLA file and embed it into the timeline on the stage. Later on, give it an <instance name> (via control+F3 to open the properties window of the object). Insert code to the FLA:
    <instance name>.x = 0;
    <instance name>.y = 0;
    <instance name>.width = 100;
    <instance name>.height = 200;
    You'll see that the video does not play, while the audio is head normally.

  • Working with preloader and FLV files

    I am able to get the Flash preloader working with say an image like JPG but when I attempt to have the preloader load a video it doesn't work. I read that in order to use a FLV file it needs to be embedded into a SWF file so preloader can work with it. One issue with embedding the FLV file into the SWF is the sound does not match up with video after that conversion which can kinda be fixed by changing the FPS.
    Needless to say I have not been able to get this working correctly. I am not sure if there is a work around for this issue.
    Thanks for all the help out there.

    Here is my code
    var imageURL:String = "vid12.SWF";
    var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest(imageURL);
    uiLoader.scaleContent = true;
    uiLoader.load(request);
    progressBar.source = uiLoader;
    progressBar.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, progressHandler);
    progressBar.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, completeHandler);
    function progressHandler (event:ProgressEvent):void {
    status_txt.text = int(event.currentTarget.percentComplete) + " %";
    function completeHandler (event:Event):void {
    progressBar.removeEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, progressHandler);
    progressBar.removeEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, completeHandler);
    removeChild(progressBar);
    status_txt.text = "";

  • How to place a Flash swf file with a movie FLV file embedded in DW

         My hair is getting shorter by the hour or maybe missing.  I have created a SWF file with Flash 8 that has an embedded FLV file that was created from a MP4 file.   The SWF file works perfectly in FLASH including my Flash nav buttons, and the movie with soundtrack and the buttons for control of volume and start stop.  Now I am ready to place it on the web using DW to make the html page.  What happens when I test the page on FireFox or IE is the background loads, the buttons load but do not work properly anymore but worse than that:  The slide show and the control buttons do not even show up.
         I am also having trouble defining my site locally.  I select new site and tell it where every thing is but no luck. All in the same directory, right now I have a image directory but I have not used them on the page as the only image is a jpg and flv file and they are embedded in the swf file.
         I know this is 2 different programs but the Flash files need to be placed in a HTML file to be uploaded, and I have to text them first.

    A link to the page would help us diagnose your problem.
    Safari tells me that this file -
    FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf

  • Black embedded FLV files Video data lost

    I am building a number of animations within 8 different
    scenes, which will ultimately compile into an exe file.
    The major problem I am having is with the numerous FLV files
    that are embedded into the timeline. No audio is going to be used.
    I created the FLVs in After Effects 7 from PNG sequences. RANDOMLY
    when i am working on the animations and keep saving (by
    incrementing file versions), the FLVs go black and in the
    properties panel it says 0.0Kb of video data. What is going on???
    If the exe is exported and played, I get a crash - macromedia flash
    player 8.0 r22 has encountered a problem and needs to close. The
    only way to fix it, is to keep reimporting the flvs.
    Please help Adobe and community. Thankyou in advance for your
    responses. :o)

    What happens if he makes you an intermediate file in something other than h.264?
    For the record, that's not an ideal choice for an intermediate codec. Is there a reason you can't use the native .r3d file?

  • How to tween embedded flv file

    Hello.  I am actually working in Flash cs5.5, but I didn't know where else to post this as this is not really based on Actionscript.
    I've imported 4 flv video files into my main file.  What'd I'd like is for there to be a video in each corner and have each one enlarge to fill the screen for a moment and then shrink back up and go back into its original corner.  I can't put a keyframe into an embedded flv file, though.  Anyone know how to do this?  Let me know if I need to explain this more.

    Awesome!!  Thank you!  The flv playback component didn't work b/c when I put a keyframe in there to make the size larger, it just started the movie back from the beginning.
    So then I did the flv inside a movieclip action that you suggested, and it works perfectly!  Thank you very much.

  • EXE embeds FLV files

    Hello, I am making an exe file that has 6 FLV files called. When I make a project like this in Director, it
    calls to the FLVS or other video files, rather than EMBEDDING them and bloating the file.
    I don't see any option in captivate to make exe files "call" the videos instead of making one big
    file.
    Does anyone know a setting to change this? I really enjoy using captivate to make mini
    presentations for CD, and they would run a lot better if it did not embed the FLV files.
    Thanks,

    Hi there
    I think there were some issues earlier that seem to have resolved themselves at this point. For a while, I couldn't get to anything Adobe related!
    I can't imagine how much bandwidth and traffic their sites generate. It has to be huge!
    I'm not trying to be an Adobe apologist, but I stand constantly amazed at how well it seems to work, given the scope!
    Cheers... Rick

  • Embedding flv file

    I want to embed a flv video file into a html page. The flv
    file is approx. 40MB. I embed the video using the insert > media
    > flash video command in Dreamweaver CS3. Everything works fine,
    but: As soon as the page is loaded in a browser, it starts
    downloading the flv-file, although the autoplay parameter is set to
    false. Needless to say that this gives problems with my limited
    bandwidt (2GB/mo). How can I prevent the page from downloading the
    video as long the user did not clicked the 'play' button. Any other
    tips to make this page bandwidth-friendly?
    regards,
    Peter, Belgium.

    You need to use the flv play back component to load the flv.
    Open a new flash doc, open the Components window, and drag a
    FLVPlayback
    component onto the stage. In the Component Inspector window,
    there will be prameters for auto play, and the content path which
    you set to the flv name. Once you do that, it will auto size to
    hold the video. Size your stage accordingly. The swf you publish
    will load the flv.
    When you use a swf to load the flv, it will be streamed and
    will not have to download.

  • FLV files won't play on testing server

    I've created a site with several videos on multiple pages. They play on my local computer but will not work when uploaded to my server. I get an error in opening the page and a "plug-in cancelled" message in the Activity window in Safari. Other FLV files play from other servers (even those I created and placed in other site files using the same method). I feel certain that something in my upload is causing the problem, but I cannot find any missing files or misplaced files on the server. NO FLV files are playing on the entire site.
    A page in question is: http://www.hensondesigns.com/kpc/COMEDIANS/Guy_Branum-bio.html
    (disregard the second and third videos on the page which are embedded from YouTube; it's the first video that won't play)
    I've got the Scripts folder uploaded and the skin file within the COMEDIANS folder on my server.
    Does anyone have any ideas what's wrong? I'm sure it's something simple but I have no idea.
    Thank you in advance for your time and help.

    Hans-G,
    Thanks for checking the page to try to help. I apologize--I figured out the issue and didn't have a chance to remove my question from the forum. The issue was being caused by the files being on my server--somehow they weren't being found. I made an adjustment in Dreamweaver and they now work. Thanks again!
    Is there a way to remove this entire post? I realize it will be of no help to anyone else, and I don't understand the problem and solution well enough to add details to make it helpful.

  • Creating H.264 FLV file as per Spec, does not play with Adobe Flash Player 10

    1] We have developed an application to encapsulate H.264 video inside FLV container, following the "Adobe Video File Format Specifications 9". According to the specification the H.264 video data is embedded in FLV tags, as follows
    FLV Headers: Meta Tag: Sequence of Video Tag.
    But in spite of following the specifications, Adobe Flash Player (version 10) could not play this FLV file. However, some players were able to play this FLV file. The fact that Adobe did not play it was very surprising.
    2] We searched and finally found one FLV file, which contained H.264 video (unlike others which usually contained Sorenson's H.263). This file was played fine by Adobe Flash Player. So it led us to investigate further and we found that
         [A] the video tag was preceded with 2 byte length of the every "contained" H.264 NALU. This applied to all the NALUs / I-slices/P-slices and so on.        This is not documented.
         [B] Only the first video tag (containing video sequence params), is preceded by the sequence "01 4D 00 15 FD E1" followed by 2 byte length and then      the video data (sequence parameters in this case). What are these additional bytes ? where are they documented ?
    Could you pls share your views about the above and point us to the documents, if any, which are in agreement with the above observations.We think there is a discrepency in the document related with authoring FLV file with H.264 content.

    You could push it out to one or two users and test.  Moving up to the latest version of Flash Player is USUALLY a good idea, however, if you happen to be on Captivate 4, be aware that there was an issue reported some time ago that once you upgraded your development machine to Flash Player 11 it interfered with publishing out courses.  I cannot remember seeing a bugfix issued to Cp4 users for this (someone correct me if I'm wrong).  If you're on Cp5 or 5.5 this shouldn't be an issue.

  • How to loop to a certain frame with an embedded video flv

    Hi everyone,
    I've searched the internet high and low but can't seem to find an answer to my problem. I have an flv video file that I've imported into Flash CS5 project as an embedded movie, because graphic and movie clip both produced still images. I want to embed the final product onto my website, and have the video autostart in the beginning, play all the way through, and then go back to frame 40 or so and loop continuosly from there. I've tried selecting the final frame and applying the instancename.gotoandplay (40); code but it isn't working. I read that this only works on keyframes, so I tried making the final frame a keyframe but because it is an flv file for some reason it isn't allowing me to do that. I'm a newbie, any help is appreciated.

    A second option is to use a NetStream video play. This is a much more powerful and versatile way to control video.
    Looping back to any point in the video is very easy.
    All it takes to get started with NetSteam is to go to the Library panel top bar, in the far right is a tiny menu icon....click and open it, choose new video, actionscript controlled. A video (icon) will appear in the Library.
    Drag the video unto the stage, position and set dimensions as needed. Give it an instance name of "video_screen".
    All you need now is a little actionscript:
    stop();
    var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
    nc.connect(null);
    var ns:NetStream = new NetStream(nc);
    video_screen.attachVideo(ns);
    /* Name of your video, with correct path, goes here */
    ns.play("video1.flv");
    the example path assumes that the video file is named "video1.flv" and is in the same folder as the Web page... edit both as needed.
    Test at this point to insure it's working.
    Now to loop add this to the actionscript:
    ns.onStatus = function(info) {
      if(info.code == "NetStream.Play.Stop") {
      trace("Video complete")
        ns.seek(60);
      ns.play();
    This example will trace "Video complete" at the end of the video and then "seek" back to 60 seconds into the video and "play" again from that point.
    While it doesn't seek to a frame, you can figure out what time corresponds and use that.
    If you are interested in trying this method, I'd suggest you set up a new, blank Flash doc and test on there. then exact size and placement is no issue. Just get the video playing and looping. Then implement in the real project.
    Best wishes,
    Adninjastrator
