Embedding a photo vs attaching

I found a thread in the archives explaining how to embed a photo in an email message instead of sending it as an attachment. It said that to embed a photo send it as an RTF or HTML file instead of as a plain text photo. Could somebody explain how I do this.
PF

rtf (= rich text) is usually the default format for composing messages. you can check this in mail preferences->composing. if it's set to rich text all you need to do is drag an image to a message composition window.

  • Email photo as attachment to open with photoshop on pc

I AM TRYING TO EMAIL PHOTOS as attachment, without the photo in full view - my recipient is requesting it as an ATTACHMENT - jpeg or otherwise - he is having trouble dragging it off - and opening it into photoshop - he's not a MAC guy (pity him) - but he can't seem to get my photos into photoshop - I've even tried sending them through my kodakgallery website as an album.
And I've used the print menu to make them pdf - but then he says they only open in Acrobat Reader ...

How can I send pictures not embedded, but as an attachment? THX

I had the same problem. I closed  the message, tried again selecting the correct imessage contact number and it worked.
I'm guessing I first selected a non-imessage phone number and it got stuck in a gray/can't send mode (bug).

  • How does one keep the photo description attached to a photo in iphoto when that photo copies to a disc or flash drive

how does one keep the photo description attached to a photo in iphoto when that photo copies to a disc or flash drive?
the metadata transfers ok, it is the description of that photo that does not transfer.

Use the File -> Export command and note the settings to write the metadata to the file on export.

  • Email photos as attachment not embedded

I apologise, I am sure this has been asked many times, but I cannot find the answer....
Using gmail is it possible to email photo as a jpeg attachment so the recipient can save it rather than embedded?

This is a setting in the application you use for sending Mail. gmail is an email service, So what app are you employing to use gmail?
If it’s Apple’s Mail, then the trick is to send Plain Text emails.
However it is worth noting that you have no control over how an email appears to the person at the receiving end - that’s all about their email settings

  • How can I sent photos as attachment rather than embedded in the email?

For work, I need to send photos to my editor via email. In Mail, the jpgs automatically become embedded in the body of the the email, but my editor would prefer to receive them as attachments. Is there any way to send photos as attachments in Mail, rather than embedded email itself?

LaSylphide, the Mail forum shows up as one of the categories within the "Mac OS and System Software" forum. Click on whichever version of OSX you're using, and you'll see the list of categories.
There are several threads on this topic, and I've seen three solutions:
    1. Check the "Send Windows-Friendly Attachments" box. Some people say it works, some say it doesn't.
    2. Open Terminal and type:
defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing -bool yes
Some people say this works, some say it doesn't.
    3. In Mail > Preferences > Composing, make sure "Message Format" is set to "Plain Text." Once again, some say this works, some say it doesn't.
Hopefully, one of those will solve your problem. There may also be a setting in your editor's email program that would solve it, but I'm assuming that's a Windows app and I haven't worked with Windows since 1993, so I'm no help there.

  • TS2451 how to send photo as attachment and not embedded in the email content

Is there any way that I can send photo as email attachment instead of it appearing in the email content.

Actually it has to do with the receiver and their email client. Certain email clients will show it as an attachment, some as imbedded.

  • Email photo as attachment

I email photos all the time out of iPhoto.  Sometimes people (usually on PC's) cannot retrieve the jpg as an attachment.  It is embedded in the email and they can't remove it or download it.  I have tried emailing it directly from iPhoto or starting in Mail and attaching as an attachment.  In both cases, it embeds in the email and they can't get it out.  I now have an important project where I HAVE to email usable pictures.  How can this be solved?

  • Mail 2.1.1 converting jpg's to bmp's and embedding them w/o attachment

Anyone else have this problem. When I attach and send out some jpg's, the recipient gets an embedded file that doesn't show up as an attachment. Instead it converts it to a bmp and they have to right click it then change the file name. I haven't seen help on this anywhere. Mac tech support could not help me. Why is it converting my jpg's? I did make sure to check that I was sending "Windows friendly attachments." Anyone else out there know?

Are you using RTF format for message composition along with a signature?
Are you adding any such attachments below all message text including a signature if one is used?
RTF with Tiger Mail is HTML and if you are adding any such attachments within/between message text and above a signature if one is used can cause problems primarily with Windows Outlook users depending on the Outlook version the recipient is using.
The Mail.app displays image/photo and single page PDF attachments inline or viewed in place by default which cannot be turned off but depending on the recipient's email client and available preference settings, such attachments may appear inline or viewed in place within the body of the message when the message is opened by the recipient or as attached files only which must be opened separately to be viewed for which the sender has no control over.
For this reason, I always do the following and rarely receive such a reported problem.
Include the file extension with all attached files, send with Windows Friendly Attachments enabled (which has no effect on your reported problem but always a good idea when sending attachments to a Windows user for another reason) and always add attachments below all message text including a signature when one is used.
If doing the above does not resolve it, use Plain Text for message composition instead which should.

  • Is there any way to have OS 10.5.8 mail leave a photo as attachment in the same orientation as it is in Preview?

Is there any way to have OS 10.5.8 mail leave an attached photo in the same orientation as it is in Preview?

First, to answer the question, I took the photo with a Canon camera but did not choose to use the Canon software to download the photo to my desktop.  I just did a select and drag to a new folder on my desktop from the sd card.  Canon has some software called Imagebrowser that may be used for this, but I took the simpler route.
I have not come across what you called the EXIF orientation before and have no idea how to access it.  What software is needed to determine the EXIF orientation?  Sorry I'm so far behind on this.  I usually used Photoshop and iPhoto to enhance photos.
By the way, I imported the photo into iPhoto then attached it to the email and the orientation didn't change.  It was the same in the attachment in Mail as it was in iPhoto.  I just don't want to have to go through that extra step every time I attach a photo.
Thanks for your help so far.  How do I get the EXIF orientation?

  • How I share iPhone 5 IOS 7 photos as "attachment" in email?

I used to take photos with my iPhone 4 and 5 prior to IOS 7 and be able to share these photos in bulk as attachments in an email. The photos used to be recognized by MS outlook as jpeg attachments. In this process, there was an automatically generated attachment file in connection with each photo that allowed MS outlook to "save all attachments" at once in jpeg format. Now, with IOS 7 and higher, photos shared from iPhone (or ipad) using IOS 7 or higher are sent automatically as some sort of integrated part of the body of the email and cannot be recognized as attachments by Outlook, therefore cannot be saved by MS outlook unless several extra steps are taken to convert them individually from bitmap into Jpeg. I have been using my iPad with my old IOS version (Pre IOS 7) to take these photos and to share them with my MS outlook and to be appropriately saved as jpeg. For my professional use I need to take photos and relay them back into my outlook email to store in a database. I regret I converted by iPhone into IOS 7 and higher. Please help.

I'm sure that there is a reaon that I jsut don't get but why not either just import via Autoplay or let iCloud download them to the computer it's self. Either way I sadly do not have a direct answer to your request currently.

  • Photo import/attachment problem

When my wife tries to attach her latest imported pictures in iPhoto, they show up as gray blocks with question marks instead of the usual thumbnail. It is only with pictures imported in the last week or 2, everything before shows up/attaches fine.
    How do we fix this?
She has imported the pictures in a variety of different ways and the results are always the same. It seems as if the pictures aren't registered as pictures (even though they are in the photo properties/info) or something like that. We use iPhoto 08 and Snow Leopard.
Any help would be amazing, thanks

That was a test of the database integrity.
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • Embedding HTML page as attachment

I am sending a mail in html format. This HTML page contains some images and some links. Link in the html page refers to another html page. When clicked on this link, this referred html page should be opened in a browser window.(Html link cannot be web URL like http://...) . Inorder to do this I have embedded the images and html page with my mail. But when the link is clicked on the html, nothing is happening.(I can save the referred HTML page by selecting Save Attachments menu. That means the html page is available with mail) . How can i refer the attached html page? Please help

I guess you need to refer it using the cid:##### where ##### is some content id, as reference and use the same id as Content-ID: header for your attached html page.
