Embedding an SWF Flash Navigation into Dreamweaver
My website http://www.theboxinghistorian.com/ has already been created and has a lot of files, at the moment whenever i make a change to my spry navigation i do it through the template which automatically updates every page.
Now I was looking to remove the spry navigation and to add a flash SWF File as my navigation, however I am relatively new to this and was wondering if adding such a file as my navigation is a simple case of updating the change through the template and once again every page through the Webstite would be updated. Or would there be more complex issues i would need to Iron out as im using flash in dreamweaver.........
My advice would be to forget about using Flash for navigation and stick with your Spry menu for now - but make it more efficient (see below).
There are no upsides and too many downsides to Flash navigation including relying on the Flash plugin being available on your vfisitors computer (what do they do if Flash is not available for them?), search engines struggle with Flash without some clever coding by you (why bother?) and maintaining the navbar is a major pain (have to recreate the Flash file every time).
The navigation you're currently using looks OK but I suggest implementing it as a Server Side Include instead of propagating it through your Template every time.
Whilst the Template approach works, the major downside is that you have to upload every page of your website every time you change the Template. That gets old, fast.
If you convert just the HTML part of your navigation (the ul structure) to a single tiny external text file (an Include) which the server then Includes in the page dynamically every time, you have minimal work to do to update your navigation bar whenever you wish. Just update the tiny text file (e.g. add/delete/move an <li> in the code), upload it to the server and your entire site is instantly up-to-date.
Adding your navbar to the page as a Server Side Include transforms maintenance from a lengthy mundane chore to a pleasure.

How to incorporate swf flash files into dreamweaver
Hi,
In my index.html I have a table with some flash buttons and
movies in.
I have linked directly to the swf, and when previewed it
works fine. When I upload it to my host server the html page
appears blank with no flash movies.
So do I have to point to the flash html file? insead of
directl to the swf?
ThanksIt's not OK. It won't work at all.

Flash animation into dreamweaver
hey everyone, i'm new at both flash and dreamweaver and currently have a project combining the two together and i really cant work it out (i'm even using html instead of css haha) :/
Anyway, what i want to do is have a zipper (as in a zipper on ones clothes) on my main page and when someone puts their mouse over the zip, it zips down and reveals the text for that page.
I have gone into photoshop and started editing a zipper at different stages of being pulled down, but am stuck as to how i'd
a) link it together on flash/what type of file to save it as?
b) put the actual code into dreamweaver
c) have it actually working functionally to reveal my text underneath.
thanks in advance for any help, i'd be very appreciative of anyone who could give me some adviceYou'll probably need to spend time learning how to create things in Flash--maybe try lynda.com. Flash can be used for the animation and mouse interaction revealing text. Once you are able to create the animation in Flash, you can have Flash publish both the swf file, which is what goes into the web page, and an html file. You can copy the code from the Flash html file into the Dreamweaver file wherever you intend the Flash file to be inserted.

Flash Catalyst into Dreamweaver to make Wordpress Theme??
Is it possible to take your flash catalyst file into Dreamweaver and make it into a Wordpress Theme?
No. Please read the Wordpress pages on how to create and modify themes. None of that has anything to do with just opening a file of whatever type in DW nor FC.

Swf from flash cs4 into dreamweaver cs4
I don't know why this is so difficult, but I'm unable to embed a swf generated in flash into a dreamweaver template. I can finally create a few basic animations and want to test them out in the dreamweaver envoirment. What is the simplest path to accomplishing this? For example if I open flash, create a simple animation, like a ball moving across the screen. If I save that SWF, what's the next step after opening dreamweaver. I just want to be able to test it the site with dreamweaver or see it "live". Thanks in advance.
Go to the Insert menu in DW and select swf. Find the .swf that you want to use and select it. Save the file and then use the Preview in Browser tool. Alternately, you can use the Publish function in the File menu in Flash to publish an html docuement that you can then open in DW.

Bringing Flash functionality into Dreamweaver
I created a navigation bar in Flash CS3 that expands to the
stage width, but when I import the swf int Dreamweaver CS3 the bar
displays at its fixed size and does not expand to fit the stage
width for large screens,
This is the Actionscript Flash code for the nav bar.
Stage.scaleMode = "noScale";
Stage.align = "TL";
bar._width = Stage.width;
dots2._x = Stage.width-200;
menu_bar._x = (Stage.width/2);
symmlog._x = (Stage.width/2);
basebar._x = (Stage.width/2);
stageListener = new Object ();
stageListener.onResize = function(){
Stage.align = "TL";
bar._width = Stage.width;
dots2._x = Stage.width-200;
menu_bar._x = (Stage.width/2);
symmlog._x = (Stage.width/2);
basebar._x = (Stage.width/2);
Stage.addListener( stageListener );
When testing movie or playing it in Flash Player the bar
itself stretches to fill stage width at any screen size, the
buttons and logo center in the middle of the bar at any size. When
I add the swf file to Dreamweaver, the size of the nav bar does not
stretch to fill the stage width. Any suggestionsJust to make sure -
If you want to use Flash for navigation, consider this -
1. Some people don't have Flash installed - what do they do?
Especially
consider those people who are browsing from a corporate
internet where Flash
is not allowed by the IT staff.
2. Search engines may not parse Flash links - your site will
not be
spidered unless you have redundant HTML links
3. Screen assistive devices don't parse Flash links - what
will those users
do?
4. DW cannot maintain links within a Flash movie, so if you
move or rename
a linked file, your navigation will break - what will you do?
You will have
to remake those buttons.
It's usually a very bad idea for these reasons - and for
these reasons,
Adobe has removed Flash buttons and Flash text from CS4.
Sorry - I can't otherwise help you.

Flash shell into Dreamweaver (CS3) HELP!
Alright, I have been struggling with this for hours now. I
have created a fully working site completely in Flash. I used a
shell to access each of my different pages within Flash, everything
works perfectly. Buttons navigate, rollover images appear, simple
animations interact just fine. I inserted the shell.swf into a
blank Dreamweaver file, saved it to my host (Mobile Me) as
index.html and have domain forwarding set up for the site itself.
When I type in the address: www.jenspaeth.com it opens up to
the front page of the shell in the browser. It does not work past
that though. The flash buttons highlight on rollover, but do not do
anything.
I am supposed to have this sit up and running today and can't
figure out how to make it work. Any and all help would be greatly
appreciated.TexasJen posted in macromedia.dreamweaver:

Getting a 404 error for
http://www.jenspaeth.com/home.swf
before I even
bring a mouse over the screen.
I'm guessing that
http://www.jenspaeth.com/Jen
Site/Shell.swf is
attempting to load that file and cannot find it.
Did you upload home.swf and any other relavent files to the
root of
www.jenspaeth.com? Or is it supposed to be in the "Jen Site"
folder?
You should not use spaces in folder/file names.

Centre flash animation into dreamweaver
Hi All,
I am a complete beginner with Dreamweaver, and having great
problems fixing the size of a flash animation I'm playing as an
intro. I have managed to get the animation in and it centred, but
when I tested it on another computer I noticed it had stretched and
for some reason it was possible to minimise the animation by using
the + and - signs whilst in the browser window. How can I prevent
this from happening, so no matter what machine you view from it
keeps the size and position the same.
Any advice will be much appreciated.You'll probably need to spend time learning how to create things in Flash--maybe try lynda.com. Flash code into Dreamweaver - Help please!
I am using GoDaddy for my hosting account. It is on a linux

http://www.desmoinesbilliards.com/gallery.html
When I use dreamweaver to insert the flash movie, it

flash movie works fine on the server, just cannot be seen on the
site. I called Go Daddy who said that there is a problem with the
way the code is calling up the Flash movie. I have not altered it
at all from the way that Dream weaver inserts it. The flash movie
is located in a folder on the site called 'flash'. The code is
below. I can't figure it out, any help would be appreciated. The
code that dreamweaver inserts is below. By the way, I use
Professional 8 version of both products.Upload the scripts folder that DW places in your local site
when you insert
Flash on a page.

Flash video into Dreamweaver 5.5
I'm not a web designer but, I'm trying to keep cost down by building my own web site. So, I'm re-building my website with Dreamweaver 5.5. I'm using 5 flash videos to discribe what I do. I made the movies and edited the movies in Final Cut Pro and saved it as a quicktime movie. Then I took the QT movie to Adove Media Encoder 5.5 chancing it to an FLV
Here is my problem. I place it using "Insert, media, FLV". I set the size and all the junk to have it play then click, OK. In the code I get "Content on this page requires a newer version of Adobe Flash Player." I have the newest version on my computer. When I check "LIVE VIEW" I don't have the video. I uploaded the page to my website and it only shows my placeholders as a white box.
The ohter issue is that I used a spry menu bar for all my pages. In the "LIVE VIEW" and looking at it in "preview" Safari it looks great. When I up loaded it some of the text is bold (the way I wanted it) and some as plane text. you can see all the problems at digitalmontagefilms.com
I'm using Cyberduck because I can't get connected using Dreamweaver to yahoo.Hi; I fixed the spry problem> This is the code for the memories page.

How Do I Load Up A Flash Template into Dreamweaver?
Can anyone help me load up a website template I purchased from Template monster so I can start editing it through dreamweaver?
Flash files are not viewable by iPhone, iPad, iTouch, Android or any other web device that doesn't support flash player. In short, Flash is pretty much dead as a web technology. Maybe you can trade to an all HTML & CSS Template that you can edit in Dreamweaver?

Importing Flash Catalyst file into Dreamweaver
Is it possible to import or use a swf file created in Flash Cataylst into Dreamweaver?
stevent2011Yes, Flash Catalyst content can be used in Dreamweaver. However, the version of swfObject might be out of date. You might need to look at the object code in the html. When you publish from Flash Catalyst, there is also a main.html file that you can use a reference for the html.

In the past I embedded a basic Flash animation into
Authorware and it seem to work ok. I'm not sure of more complex
ones i.e. that have interactive controls etc. I assume its not so
simple as to embed into authorware. Is it the case that it is
doable, but requires some configuration/programming? Or does it
work be simply embedding the complex interactive flash into
authorware?
thanks in advance

If the flash file id published for player version 6 (or
earlier) then
you can embed it using the Flash Asset Xtra, probably in the
same way as
you have before. If it is a later version you will need to
use the
Flash player ActiveX control.

Swf = stage width in Dreamweaver
I created a Flash navigation bar with the bar = stage width
and button elements centered. Works fine in Test Movie mode or
Flash Player, but tried to insert Flash movie into Dreamweaver HTML
page as the header nav bar and the Flash file stays same size and
does not expand in width to fit stage width. Any
suggestions?I tried that and it didn't work. This is the Actionscript
Flash code for the nav bar. Stage.scaleMode = "noScale";
Stage.align = "TL";
bar._width = Stage.width;
dots2._x = Stage.width-200;
menu_bar._x = (Stage.width/2);
symmlog._x = (Stage.width/2);
basebar._x = (Stage.width/2);
stageListener = new Object ();
stageListener.onResize = function(){
Stage.align = "TL";
bar._width = Stage.width;
dots2._x = Stage.width-200;
menu_bar._x = (Stage.width/2);
symmlog._x = (Stage.width/2);
basebar._x = (Stage.width/2);
Stage.addListener( stageListener );
The bar itself stretches to fill stage width at any screen
size, the buttons and logo center in the middle of the bar at any
size. When I add the swf file to Dreamweaver, the size of the nav
bar does not stretch to fill the stage width. The addition of the
above code seemed to make no difference. Is there anything else I
could try?
