Embedding Captivate v4 recording in PowerPoint 2003

I have recently seen simple to follow instrutions explaining the above for PowerPoint 2007, but I cannot find anything along same lines (simple step by step) to explain how to do embed a Captivate v4 project into PowerPoint 2003.
Does anyone know where I can find something, or maybe you could explain the required steps...?
Thanks in advance,
Noel

I am not sure which Captivate format I should use if I am going to insert
it into Powerpoint - I would try it with the format you suggest.
What I really need are the instructions (after having saved a Captivate 4
project) to insert it into PowerPoint 2003.
Thanks in advance.
Kind regards

  • Insert Captivate 4 Project Into PowerPoint 2003

I have been following Captivate's (v4) instructions to insert a project into PowerPoint (2003).
When I get to the part where, according the Captivate Help, in PowerPoint I have to open <Properties> of the box I have created in PowerPoint where the project will be inserted, and then click on "Custom" on the first line, there is no item "Custom" in the <Properties> box, see below:
Has anyone also found this and have you any help for me ?
    Noel

    Hello again
You need to make a choice here. I'm not sure what exactly is meant by what you said:
...but the file is inserted in a full page, while I just want to have a link to it...
Captivate content may be inserted into the body of a topic. Once there, it appears along with other topic information. You may also import the HTML page Captivate creates for you. To do that, you would click File > Import > HTML page. This would allow you to create a link in the TOC or the Index or from the body of a topic that would link to the full page.
If you wanted to link directly to the SWF and avoid any HTML pages, just add the SWF as a Baggage File by right-clicking the Baggage folder or in the Project Manager. Then you can link just to the SWF. Note, however, that this isn't recommended because you have no control over how the SWF looks. Perhaps the Captivate SWF is designed to present at 640x480 and when it opens in this manner, the browser is full screen. The SWF is then stretched to fill as much of the screen as it can. And that can make the quality of the SWF seriously degrade.
    Your call... Rick

    Hi Rick,
    Thanks for the reply.
However I already followed a couple of instructions following a Google search before I posted my request on the Forum, and none of them worked for me.
I will give the link you sent me a try...lets hope this work.

  • How to embed Cap3 in MS PowerPoint 2003

Can anyone provide me with "step by step for dummy" instructions on how to embed a movie created in Captivate 3 in to PowerPoint 2003. I can create it OK in Captivate, just need to know what to save it as, and how to embed it in to PowerPoint.
Intention is to provide my sales people with sales material in ppt and then when they reach a particular point in the presentation they can, click on screen and the Captivate movie will run, providing a demo of the item.

  • Embedding Captivate in Flex

So, the list of new features for Captivate 4 had a biggie that caught my attention:
"Take advantage of ActionScript® 3.0 publishing to bring Adobe Flex® content into your Adobe Captivate projects, and to embed Adobe Captivate movies in your Flex content."
As a Flex developer, that sounds great, but I can't find a single piece of documentation about embedding Captivate files into Flex. Embedding the published SWF using a SWFLoader component is easy, but is there an API for actually controlling the progression of the Captivate movie? If not, what's the point?
Also, on a somewhat related note, whenever I've tried to export a Captivate presentation to Flash CS3/CS4, the process generates an individual SWF file for each slide, which is loaded by the FLA at runtime. However, even when the Publishing Settings are set to ActionScript 3.0 in Captivate 4, the individual SWF files appear to be exported in ActionScript 2.0 format. When I run the FLA in debug mode, I get error messages in the Console reading "Cannot perform Looping properly as the loaded swf is an as2 one", and indeed, the slides with animations loop annoyingly until I advance to the next slide. Is there a way to get Captivate to export AS3 slides that don't loop their animations?
I should mention that I'm primarily working with slides that have been imported from PowerPoint presentations.

I've built a player in Flex that loads in different Captivate 4 quiz files through a SWFLoader component. The student logs in (using an employee number), selects the test to take from a List (wrapped in an Accordian - also includes a Progress list indicating tests already completed). After completing the test, the score variable is passed back and I use a FlexSQL component to pass the captured score, employee number, etc. back to a backend database (currently MS Access) for further processing and loading into our LMS when all of the tests are completed. The student can see which tests have already been completed or if they click on a test in the list that has been completed, an Alert box opens to inform them it has been done. Took me about 2 months to create it because as you say, there really isn't much out there regarding how to get these communicating with each other. Give me a shout by email if need more.

  • New Captivate 5.0 User - Powerpoint Question

I have a Powerpoint 2003 presentation that I have been asked make into a Captivate 5.0 presentation for posting on a website. Normally I talk throughout the presentation and click to advance the slides and make animation objects appear and disappear as needed.
The desired outcome is a Captivate presentation which the user will simply view...no clicking on the user's part.
How do I best accomplish this?  Do I need to back to Powerpoint and change from clicks to advance animation and slides and make it all automatic timing?

    Thank You!

  • PowerPoint 2003 SP3 won't play Flash content

One of our company's products requires the distribution of a Flash file embedded in a PowerPoint slide. This works fine on most machines, except for those with Office/PowerPoint 2003 Service Pack 3 installed. After much hunting, I think I have finally narrowed the issue down to the way in which SP3 deals with add-ins, ActiveX controls and COM add-ins. This Microsoft support page has more information on the issue:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938814/
Essentially, SP3 introduces an additional security check that the Flash content fails. Surely others must have had similar problems with Flash in Office 2003 SP3? And, surely, there must be an easier way of getting around this issue that doesn't require me to remotely login into every client's machine and edit their registry for them?
Does anyone know of a patch for either Flash (making it compliant with Microsoft's security requirements as detailed in the above link) or Office 2003?
I'm at my wits end here, so any insight would be VERY much appreciated.
    Thanks!

All I can recommend is to file a bug report at http://bugs.adobe.com/flashplayer/ to have the issue addressed by Adobe.
Hopefully someone else has a solution for you that addresses the immediate problem for you.

  • Embed Flash cs5.5 Mac movie in PC PowerPoint 2003?

I completed an interactive animation using Flash CS5.5 on my Mac. It needs to be imported/embedded/inserted in PowerPoint 2003 on a PC while retaining navigational capabilities.
While it works in the PowerPoint presentation on the PC it was created on, if it's thrown on a junk drive (both files .swf and PowerPoint on the drive) or emailed for review, all the actions are ignored, it jumps around in the wrong order or it gets stuck.
Need this file to be more "mobile" and work correctly.
    Help?

Now flash file I ws working on crashing whenever I test movie.

  • SWF Object Won't Play In PowerPoint 2003

I'm having a problem with an SWF Object in PowerPoint
    2003...I've followed the instructions at
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HA010348071033.aspx
...however when logged in under Windows XP (SP2) as a
non-administrator, the Flash object will not run. When a standard
(non-administrator) user runs PowerPoint, they receive the error
"Some controls on this presentation can't be activated. They might
not be registered on this computer.". . .but when an Administrator
logs on, they don't receive this error and the embedded SWF file
runs fine when running the PowerPoint presentation?
I have the latest Flash Player installed and when opening the
SWF file in Internet Explorer, it runs fine.
    Any Ideas?

There are some known issues with the latest Flash player
version (8,0,24,0) and non-administrator accounts. Not only with
    Powerpoint. No work-around known. Sorry.
You will have to wait for the next version and hope....

  • Adobe Captivate Help | Record video demonstrations

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/using/record-video-demonstrations.html

    Hi Nirupama,
Before recording, choose the recording resolution as Youtube Widescreen HD and that should capture it in the right resolution.
And while publishing the recorded CPVC project, choose the HD resolution or customize the publishing quality settings -- Choose High Profile, and Encode using Bitrate, use the Highest possible Bitrate value. You are free to customize any othe value as well.
    Thanks,

  • Presenter video recording from PowerPoint has stopped working

My Adobe Presenter 9.02 Build 173 has suddenly developed a problem where recording video from within PowerPoint has stopped working. I have Office 2013 32-bit and Windows 8.1 64 bit. I believe that Presenter installed itself automatically in the installation process as a 64-bit application.
When I press the 'record now' icon on the Presenter toolbar, PowerPoint opens the current displayed in Slide Show view and I get the following error message:-
"Adobe presenter has encountered unexpected problem while working with this presentation......" etc.
This video recording feature from within PowerPoint has worked just fine on my system with the identical setup as mentioned in my opening paragraph but it's suddenly stopped working for some reason? I checked and do have the latest graphics driver.
The stand - alone video creator tool records video outside of PowerPoint just fine but as stated, I can’t execute recording from the ‘record’ icon on the Presenter menu in PowerPoint.
I tried the following without success:-
I created a new PowerPoint file and tried to repeat the recording process
I ran PowerPoint as Administrator and ran the file ‘Adobe-Pr-VC.exe’ (in C:\Program Files\Adobe) as Administrator
    I uninstalled and re-installed Presenter
I turned off my AV software and firewall
I created a new Windows Administrator account and tried video recording within PowerPoint
Anyone have any ideas on what else I could try?
    Peter

Solved! In the end, the solution was simple!
I went to the PowerPoint 2013 ribbon and clicked on 'Slide Show' and unchecked 'Use Presenter View' and video recording from within PowerPoint immediately started working fine. Previously, the 'Use Presenter View' box had a check mark in it. When you click on the record video button in Presenter, PowerPoint goes into slide show view and clearly Presenter doesn't like PowerPoint opening the Slide Show view in Presenter view.
I picked up on this from another PC I have with PowerPoint 2013 and Adobe Presenter 9. The video recording feature worked every time on that PC and I noticed that the only difference was that the newer PC had a check mark next to 'Use Presenter View' where as the older PC setup didn't.
So everything is working well now!

  • Error message when publishing from Captivate 4 to MS Word 2003

Is anyone else getting an error message when publishing from Captivate 4 to MS Word 2003?  I tried all 4 types and still get the following:
"An error was encountered while publishing to Word.  Verify the following and try again.  Word is installed on your system.  Word is not busy."
Word is installed on my system and was not in use, so I am not sure why the error.  Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi there
I use Captivate 4 and it publishes to Word 2003 without issues.
Perhaps it has to do with the way your Word 2003 has been installed? Either that or it's a "rights" issue to be addressed by your IT propellerheads?
    Cheers... Rick

  • X61s TrackPointer and Mouse Too Sensitive In Powerpoint 2003

    Hello,
I have an X61s with Vista Business and am running PowerPoint 2003.  The TrackPoint pointer seems to be outrageously sensitive in this application - simply clicking on something is enough not only to highlight it, but also move the object slightly, even if the pointer didn't move.  This occurs even with an external mouse, and even with the external mouse's software suite loaded and enabled (Logitech SetPoint was loaded in an attempt to cure the external mouse behavior - it didn't help or hinder).
I have disabled pointer acceleration, and the pointer speed is smack in the middle of the scale.
As this is happening with both the mouse and the TrackPointer, gut feel says there's a setting somewhere to be tweaked.
I've searched the archives and can't find anything similar.  Anyone have any suggestions?
    TIA
    GG
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Do you have Press-to-select enabled? I always disable it because I get unintended mouse clicks.
I'm using PowerPoint 2007 on my X61, and my wife uses PowerPoint 2003 on her X61s, and our TrackPoints behave normally. I'm pretty sure PowerPoint does not meddle with mouse settings.
    I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!
